Apparently, Fortnite is causing parents to hire tutors in order to help their children get better at playing and winning Battle Royale. This is the equivalent of how parents will hire coaches or tutors to help their child get better at a sport or academics, but this time for esports. It is an intriguing development, brought about by the overwhelming popularity of the continuously rising game.
The news about these so-called Fortnite coaches was revealed recently by the Wall Street Journal, courtesy of Bleacher Report. According to the Wall Street Journal’s Sarah Needleman, parents are shelling out an average of around 10 to 20 dollars an hour for these tutors to come and teach their kids how to become better Battle Royale competitors.

One parent told the Wall Street Journal that “there’s pressure not just to play it but to be really good at it. You can imagine what that was like for him at school.” That parent, in particular, has already purchased four hours worth of lessons for her 10-year-old son. While this may seem crazy or weird to some gamers, it actually seems to be working for some kids.
Another parent noted that their 12-year-old son was struggling to win when competing in Fortnite Battle Royale. However, the lessons that he has received has now allowed him to “throw down 10 to 20 wins” fairly easily. It remains to be seen if this trend will continue as the game continues to grow more and more with popularity.
It wouldn’t be surprising, as Fortnite Battle Royale has already begun to invade the real world with cross-promotional materials. In addition, Epic Games keeps players on their toes like significantly changing the building mechanic to keep gamers interested in playing more. By the way, if there are any parents reading this, I am absolutely available for teaching your kid a thing or two about getting that Victory Royale.
