Fortnite is Coming to IEM Katowice

Gamers are already looking forward to IEM Katowice this year, but now there is a new reason to get even more excited. For the first year ever, ESL and Epic Games are going to be running Fortnite Battle Royale tournaments at the event. This is a chance for players in Poland to show off their impressive combat skills and compete for epic prizes!

What to Expect from Fortnite Battle Royale at IEM Katowice

Two Fortnite Battle Royale tournaments were announced for IEM Katowice. The first is scheduled for February 23rd and February 24th. 100 of Poland’s top competitive gamers will fight it out to claim what they can of a prize pool totaling $100,000.

IEM Katowice will feature Fortnite Battle Royale this year.

100 players will also compete in the next tournament, scheduled for March 1st-3rd. Unlike the first tournament, however, this one will not be strictly Polish. Competitors from all over the globe are to take part. Also, the prize pool for this event will be even bigger, totaling $500,000.

That’s not all, either. To add to the excitement, there will be a series of free-to-play LAN competitions. These will take place in a huge hall containing 200 consoles and computers. $50,000 in prize money will be up for grabs.

Speaking about the scheduled events, ESL chief product officer Sebastian Weishaar said, “ESL Katowice Royale – Featuring Fortnite will be our first international Fortnite competition and we couldn’t be more excited. Fans from all over the world know our Katowice event and bringing Fortnite as one of the world’s largest games to them feels like a great fit.”
