Fortnite Showdown Brings Back Blitz Showdown

Epic Games has brought back the interesting Solo Showdown limited time mode to Fortnite, but this time with a twist. It’s now known as Blitz Showdown, and it works a lot like normal Solo play, but with quite a few caveats. It certainly sounds a lot more fast-paced and challenging this time around, that’s for sure. And you can get started on it as early as next week!

It’s called a “blitz” because matches will be a whole lot quicker this time around, as the storm circle will be moving in a lot quicker. Instead of the first 50 matches you take part in determining your score, you also only get the first 25 matches to determine how you fare. Both match placement and kills will factor in as well, which is in stark contrast to Solo Showdown’s rules. The original Solo Showdown winner was a player who went by the name vRxthless, and they got about 50,0000 V-Bucks in return as a prize, which isn’t anything to sneeze at.

Blitz Showdown

Rewards for Blitz Showdown are still pretty awesome, though. First place winners when the event ends on June 4 will receive 20,000 V-Bucks. Second through fifth place winners take home 13,500 V-Bucks, and anyone else throughout 100th place will get a whopping 7,500 V-Bucks. With that in mind, there will be more Showdowns coming to Fortnite in the future, so even if you can’t take any V-Bucks home in this particular match, don’t fret — there are more coming down the pipeline as well.

This is a ranking mode unique to Fortnite Battle Royale, and so far it seems to have worked out quite well for players and Epic Games. Since there isn’t really another “ranking” mode to take part in other than these Limited Time Events, we’ll likely continue to see them cycling out for newer, better things in the future. One thing’s for sure, though — there are a lot of V-Bucks at stake!
