Fortnite’s Latest Weapon Is A Super Sticky Grenade

Fortnite’s latest patch brought us version 3.6, and with it several different goodies — namely, a new weapon in the form of the “clinger,” or the sticky grenade. They sound a little weird, but they’re basically the same kind of sticky grenade you’ve seen in other games. They’re just a little goofier-looking. Check this out: They’re plungers with grenades piggybacking on them. Clingers are thrown, and they’ll then stick to their targets, exploding after about 2.5 seconds. If you see a mark you want to blow up who’s retreating from the area, this is one weapon that you can throw after them to make sure they don’t get out without some sweet, sweet revenge.

The official version 3.6 patch notes line out the clingers as such, in terms of stats:

  • Rarity: Uncommon
  • Location: Floor Loot, Supply Drops, Supply Llamas, Treasure Chests
  • Explosion Delay (once attached to target): 2.5 seconds
  • Player Damage: 100
  • Structure Damage: 200
  • Radius: 1 Tile
  • Max Stack Size: 10
  • Pickup Stack Size: 3

If you toss a grenade straight up in the air and hope to rain destruction down on other players, you’re in for a surprise: they just won’t explode. If you stick them onto a building or something similar, they’ll explode earlier, so keep all those rules in mind before sending them out willy-nilly.

It should be interesting to see how players use these new weapons in terms of the normal game meta, especially with the other balancing changes and tweaks made to other arms, like the minion’s added 10 percent accuracy and 10 percent less recoil.

Have you tried out the clingers yet in any of your Fortnite games? Let us know how you feel about them, and if they’re changing the game for a meaningful direction or if they’re just ho-hum.
