VGR is Launching Our First Podcast!
killamch89 reacted to Matt Morgans for a topic
Hi guys! VGR has now officially launched our first YouTube podcast. It'll be a 30-minute weekly news recap/discussion podcast hosted by myself and fellow VGR writer Jacob Smith. We're very excited to be getting started with this, and we're keen to hear any feedback about what we could improve! We're currently working on adding gameplay footage/video, so that should be coming soon, but if there's anything else, please let us know and we'll take it into consideration! If you like it, please support us by liking, subscribing, etc.!1 point -
What's your favourite game soundtrack
killamch89 reacted to DylanC for a topic
The last GTA I really played was San Andreas and I LOVED the soundtrack! Cruising around the city, sunset in the backdrop, with the wind in my hair, blazing Willie Nelson was the BEST.1 point -

Should all games have an "easy" mode?
DylanC reacted to killamch89 for a topic
I agree with you on this. It makes no sense fussing about a certain game when it was intended for a niche audience - that's just business.1 point -
This I believe I agree with. I think my position is that I would hope developers aim at making games accessible to less skilled people too, but of course it should not prevent the developers from creating their vision. I have to agree with you both on this (Dammit 😄 ).1 point

That is a good argument. Touché.1 point

It is... Because I don't think any less of you for thinking the opposite of what I think. We're just having friendly debate and that's all that matters.1 point

OH YES, DYLAN YOU ARE THE BEST!1 point

Trying to make a game for everyone can be problematic. I think it’s best to respect the vision of the creators. That’s what I skew towards, personally.1 point

Should all games have an "easy" mode?
StaceyPowers reacted to LadyDay for a topic
I am not questioning the developers right to create exactly the game they want, I am questioning the necessity of it. I can't say I know my gaming history enough to know about these games lowering difficulty or this game Cuphead. I'm a complete noob.1 point -
Should all games have an "easy" mode?
StaceyPowers reacted to LadyDay for a topic
I still don't see why a game shouldn't have an easier mode if it should have an extremely extra legendarily hard mode? You can make the "normal" setting hard and still have an easier mode. This is not the same as developers lowering difficulty across all settings. Of course the game should have an extra hard mode along with the easier mode. Unless it's a fear of losing bragging rights because less skilled players beat the game too? That can be amended by pointing out that one used the extra hard mode while doing the bragging.1 point -
Should all games have an "easy" mode?

I once again find myself agreeing with you. As you know, I have disorders that means I don't have the reaction speed, multitasking capabilities, concentration etc. of the average person. I don't like the idea of being excluded from enjoying good games because of this. I can't just "git gud".1 point -

I find that is the games you describe pander to the sort of elitism of people being so intend of being snowflakes that they suddenly don't like something anymore if it becomes too popular with a larger crowd, even if it's exactly the same game that they fell in love with in the beginning. Is it necessary to have games that force being a niche by only allowing people without f.ex. disabilities that lower reaction speed significantly (like me) to enjoy it. Why should I not be allowed to enjoy a niche game? Of course the game creators have a right to create games like this, but I don't think it's particularly something to be proud of.1 point -

Best Video Game Pets?

Funny enough, I once renamed Odahving to Mega Ultra Flaming Chicken just for the laughs just because in an alternate universe, he does resemble one (I have a pretty active imagination so bear with me.)1 point -

Speech is the most ignored skill tree in Skyrim for me as well because it is so freaking useless. It doesn't buff shouts or anything and the discounts you get from merchants is so negligible.1 point -

I subbed to the Youtube channel and I liked how you guys discussed the topics in a very professional manner - keeping personal bias to a minimum. I must say I thoroughly enjoyed it.1 point -
Have you got any platinum trophies?
StaceyPowers reacted to killamch89 for a topic
Immersion is pretty important as well because the game would never be appealing to you enough to continuously play it.1 point -
To those who live in small homes/apartments...
LadyDay reacted to StaceyPowers for a topic
I think the idea would be an app which would "gamify" real life but be customizable based on one's needs. I too certainly would be angry at the thought of needing to meet unreachable task standards (I have a restricted amount of "energy/willpower units" on many days due to chronic pain), but I wouldn't mind if real life were more ... well, rewarding. Games do well activating a dopamine response, but real life chores do not. And even with my disability, I must rely largely on myself to exist :/ Incidentally, dopamine helps to reduce pain, so anything that spikes it can help me with my life. I often feel better while gaming. I think this is largely because it is night time, but I sometimes wonder if the dopamine effects of gaming also help.1 point -
Best open world universe/lore?
killamch89 reacted to StaceyPowers for a topic
@kingpotato That’s true. That’s a good example, another one being Berenziah (spelling?). I like that if you read the books, they shed light on events which otherwise you might totally misinterpret. My mind was blown by the one which talked about how Ulfric made a mess of the Reach. That book arguably contributed more to my understanding of both him and the situation with the Forsworn than anything anyone said to me in the game.1 point -
If you could change one thing about your favorite game ...?

I wouldn't. That's why it is my favourite. No computer game you can think of is perfect. Each will have there faults however, I can accept this.1 point -

What's your favourite game soundtrack
DylanC reacted to StaceyPowers for a topic
My all-time favorite game soundtrack is Skyrim. It impresses me because it achieves its purpose so well. It is atmospheric and fits well with the landscapes and the sense of “journeying.” It is interesting and memorable, but it never is “annoying” or intrusive. Even though I have heard the songs over and over and over, they do not get stuck in my head, which I really appreciate.1 point
