  1. There’s no beating around the bush; 2020 has been a tough year for most of us. 2. There's one person who wasn't mentioned in the list. @DC Thank you for creating and running a forum for gamers to come together and discuss all areas of gaming. From retro/classic gaming to current gen, mobile, and PC gaming. We wouldn't be here if it wasn't for you. So many of us would be completely out of the loop on things if it wasn't for VGR and the work you do. Hell I personally wouldn't even know what the PS5 and Xbox X/S look like. Assuming I knew that they had been released. So many of us have been introduced to games we otherwise wouldn't have known about. We have been able to broaden our horizons here at VGR. And it's thanks to you.

  3. I remember back in the N64/PS1 era, I was initially personally opposed to playing FF8. Hear me out on this one. I was used to playing games that followed a specific map. Think games like Castlevania SOTN. Or Zelda OoT. Also any Mario Game. So when I looked at FF8 I wasn't wanting to play because I thought it was too "open" of a game. Meaning that the world was too big, and you could just circle the globe endlessly. With a game like that, I had no idea what I was supposed to be doing next. And to be honest, with what I was used to, it kinda scared me. But now we have open end games like Skyrim, and I look at FF8 and think "I can't believe I thought that was such an open game". Does anyone else ever think things like this?

  4. i'm mostly chatting and rarely participating in a voice chat, as i see it pointless to be honest, i managed to improve my English thanks to writing in the main chat, made friends from that etc... voice chats in communities where i play are mostly filled with people that are ready to bully you for your accent :(

  5. As @The Blackangel rightly says, you've done a cracking job getting us all registered and keeping the forum going. And I think everyone on the list is worthy of their name being there, though I'm rather surprised I made it given how new I am. Cheers, chum. Happy New Year to everyone on VGR! Keep on keeping on. ^^

  6. Many times people have speculated that consoles will eventually stop being made, and will just be another PC. Do you ever thing that PlayStation will stop producing consoles? I personally don't think PlayStation will stop. Could they maybe stop at a certain number? I remember back before the PS2 came out, Sony released some commercials for a PlayStation 9. I remember them vividly, and I don't know if anyone else remembers them. It's clear it's meant to be a joke, but it kind of feels like Sony hopes to one day get to a PlayStation 9. Here's the commercial:

  7. Who would be your favorite older game on x-box? For me, it would be Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. I loved that game to death. I think I wore that game and my x-box controller out, figuring out different ways to play that game.

    GTA 6

idk GTA 6 discussion is brought up quite often it seems, at least to me. It could feature a mafia like set of characters, but we won't know for a bit. I want them to kind of do something different, maybe a female protagonist, or 3 protagonists like GTA V. But I doubt they will do that same gimmick twice. GTA is usually always about making it rich and taking over, and I suspect that will be the continued trend in GTA 6. But, I would like to see it take place in London again.

  10. Exclusively via text, even though I love the sound of my own voice. Plus, being autistic, I have difficulty wording things verbally so writing will always be preferable. I find it interesting you improved English via chatting in video games. Nice one! And don't let bullies get you down - being from England myself, we're not exactly a country full of pleasant accents and mannerisms which to use them. At least yours will be clearer than mine (Yorkshire accent), which sounds like I'm chewing a sock with a wasp in it.

  12. 100% think any fighting game, shoot even GTA 3 seems priceless or any racing game with the odd damage or ways that the AI move around.

  13. Just to show off a bit, this is one of the scenes from the game. It has great music as far I remember and it is really fun to play. But back then as a 12yo kid you can imagine my horror seeing this blue hulk/puge(warcraft III) coming at me. I think FIFA 98 is the funniest football game ever created. You can even faul the goalkeeper when he has the ball(it's an auto red card but still a fun way to show your frustration). You can download both games at https://www.myabandonware.com/ worked fine on windows 10 both.

  14. 1,763 collected over 10 years. I can't say how many of those I've completed (at least 3), or even how many I will play. I'm not proud to have impulse purchased so many games, but a few hundred of those have brought - and will bring - many good times.

  16. I've been using cdkeys for years maybe a decade. Never had a problem with them. They buy retail copies of games in bulk and resell the keys online. They are cheaper than b&m exactly because they have no b&m facilities to upkeep. There is nothing illegal about it. You are mistaking it for kingui, g2a and similar marketplaces where they actually sell keys obtained by way of credit card fraud / credential theft / phising. I also used to use gmg, but they went off the deepend with their prices. They are now more expensive than physical copies I can buy locally, so in that case I'd rather get that.

  17. I would go for something more different, like a game that has another game in it. For example, I will mix GTA 5 with call of duty then towards the end add a little bit of resident evil. The storyline will be massive, it will be a story that started with a peaceful town or city then boom, a war broke up and at the end the scientist will create an advance chemical that will turn everyone to zombie. What do you think about that?

  18. When I first saw Dune II at one of my friends, I thought: "What a boring and pointless game" For the longest time I thought all RPGs are dumb, because it's all about assigning skill points and attributes in a menu, and games should be all action, not fiddling in menus. this culiminated when I first played Mass Effect, as I outright refused to deal with skills and inventory, so I actually finished the game with level1 gear from the first map of the game. I can tell you one thing: It was extremely hard even on the easiest setting. Harder than playing the game on insanity difficulty normally. I think the first RPG that I embraced and played as such was Fallout 3 and New Vegas.

  20. Not being able to find the exit shortly after the assassination of Emperor Uriel Septim in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. I spent my whole weekend looking around not realising the hidden entrance where the assassin came through was still open. I could've just reloaded a save but never thought to. For context, this was the tutorial zone. Not the best place to get stuck. I don't think I've ever topped that moment.

  21. That's me and online gaming in a nutshell, especially when i look at my forums posts in the communities i used to play on, i believe i will get an overdose of cringe someday if i think about that again xD

  22. I started up with quake 4 but it never felt anything like home, I just keep getting scared everytime I face a different boss. I think call of duty warefare is the only game I feel safe with, no alien, no scary looking weirdo, just terrorist with guns and explosives.

  23. Cid in FF8 is a complete coward. He talks big as if he was a fighter in his youth, but when things start to go down, he runs away. He even admits it later on in disc 3. At least he recognizes that he is a coward, but damn it's annoying. he sends teenagers out to fight and die, but he hides like a scared little child hiding from the boogeyman.

    How do you communicate

That's how it's always been in most games unfortunately. You wanted to try the old COD online chats, you'd be called everything on this earth and especially if you have a foreign accent.
