  1. I downloaded the images from my Facebook account and found a lot of photo mode images, mostly from Horizon Zero Dawn, but a couple from Uncharted 4 as well that I'd forgotten about. This is as good a place as any to share them, so feel free to comment on this gallery. I'm hosting if on Imgur to avoid flooding the forum with an absurd amount of images, but I'll post a couple of my favourites.

  2. I've just seen a very interesting article from BBC Culture exploring the idea of photo modes in video games being used as a tool to create artwork. Not specifically a game's aesthetic design itself, but the use of Photo Mode to create works of art individually. I've said it before and, even though I'm sure it's not a popular opinion, I'll still stand by the idea that a video game cannot be a work of art itself. I say that because for something to be art it has to have no purpose other than itself, no function. A video game has a function. It's not just entertainment, it's a challenge. A test of reflexes, strategy, teamwork and so on. There's art to be found in a game's make up with writing, design art etc, but the game itself is not a form of art. However, I can totally get behind this notion of a game's photo made being a legitimate tool to create works of art. It makes sense to me in the same way art photography does and I feel it has a lot of potential. I think the infamously pretentious art world isn't ready to start displaying gaming screenshots in galleries and you just know (at least some) game companies will make it difficult for anyone who tries by means of copyright law (although I would describe a screenshot as a transformative work). Still it's nice to see at least some consideration of the idea coming through and taken seriously. What do you think?

  3. I'm just a very private person. There are many things about myself that I don't talk about here due to that simple fact. Some that may change peoples opinions of me, regardless of what they think right now.

  4. About about the new xiaomi software, they have improved big time then many years ago. They have gone up to high recommended for most tech reviews. Down to the price point again they say.

  5. One thing that definitely was a glitch and not my fault was when my car was leaving pit road in NASCAR '11 The Game and with about 500 feet to go on pit road my car magically transfers itself from the pit lane to the track. There's no way that was my fault.

  6. It could go either way, but I think I'm generally inclined to think that since there is always a way to get through something, its my job to figure out what that way is (or figure out A way, if there's more than one). To be honest though, there are many times when I spend time wondering if a game is doing something wrong or unfairly or not, or cheating me somehow. Personally I think its not always clear.

    Casual gamer

I think its obviously kind of subjective. There's a whole spectrum of "degrees of enjoyment of/time invested into video games." But in general, I think that's really what it mostly boils down to: The higher your level of enjoyment, and the more amount of time you choose to invest in video games, the more hardcore you are. The less your level of enjoyment and amount of time you invest, the more casual you are (This is all assuming you're doing it for fun and not for some kind of job like being a video game tester).

it varies from a person to another, for me, a casual gamer is a gamer that's not a fanboi, enjoys games, has respect to all platforms and knows that fun is what matters.

  9. When I was a kid, I would take a hatchet, survival knife, and a .410 into the woods and rough it usually for about a month. Sometimes even longer. I would build my own shelter, purify my own water, and hunt/fish my own food. I absolutely loved doing it. Obviously I can't now. But remembering that, I remember always wanting a cabin that was way back in the woods. So far back that you thought my driveway was a side road. I have the same feeling today.

  10. Automated home. I could use something to clean and cook. Driving however, I like being in control of that. I like going out for a drive just for the solitude and the time alone away from the house. It clears my head and gets me centered. I don't want some automated machine taking that little bit of joy away from me.

  11. Considering I was homeless for 3 years and grew up bottom of the barrel poor, I could easily live without heat & AC. The internet didn't even exist when I was growing up, and was something only institutions could afford when it first started. Which means until I was about 14-15 I never had it. So I could probably go without it again if I had to. But to choose, I would give up the heat and AC. The internet is such a huge part of life now, that it's almost unreasonable for anyone to go without it. EVERYTHING is done online. Not just entertainment, but all forms of business. Unless you're a low level employee, your job directly requires internet. Often it goes home with you, so you need it there. What ever you customer/client is, they have gotten to where they expect shit instantly now, so no business could survive without the internet. As sad as it is, it's become a requirement of daily life just to survive.

  12. Only children play video games. I would like to see one 7 year old child play RDR2 with parents consent. Or give that same kid a copy of Hatred and tell the to go nuts. Games have a "T" and "M" rating for a reason. And only a couple games in history have gotten an "AO" rating. Give one of them to your 5 year old. Then tell me only children play video games, you pretentious bastard.

  13. My birds Apple and Baby. Neither of them shut up as it is, and if they could actually speak human words, I would move out into the yard and never come back in.

  14. Yeah, there are 2 very important things about carb-less diets: 1) The body can actually use protein and convert it to energy as a last resort, but in the process the body makes ketones which is very toxic, it's called ketosis. 2) The body only absorbs a certain amount of protein in one sitting. The rest turns to fat; plus too much protein makes the body more acidic. Cancer can only grow in an acidic environment. Those meat heads in body building don't understand that starchy carbs-or the low glycemic index carbs, is the energy required to get stronger and have endurance. Sweets and most breads are the high glycemic index carbs which shoots up blood sugars and doesn't utilize energy properly. And we need to meet a required amount of carbs just for minimum brain and CNS function. Protein won't build muscle if you don't have the energy to workout the muscles, or at least won't reach max potential.

I looked because I could not believe it, but to you credit it's true but it's not common practice. What YoYogames is doing with their Gamemaker Console licenses is fucking bullshit. It's the equivalent of paying a subscription for Netflix but then Microsoft gating that 3rd party service behind XBox Live Gold. Even if you pay them their fee you still need to go through the same registration process Microsoft, Sony, and/or Nintendo and pay their fees! Their literary charging developers for something they don't provide. If I were a dev, I wouldn't touch their shit with a flag pole. FUCK THESE GUYS! Yes, publishing for consoles is expensive because of publishing fees as well the one off cost of development kits but neither of these have anything to do with the choice development tools and game engine. I know that likes of Unity, Unreal and Cryengine don't charge extra fees for publishing on consoles because it's BS. But obviously none of this has anything to do with the protagonists being white so I still gotta question why the hell you made that connection?

  16. Nope, lasest smartphones means going all out and spending $1200 if not more right? or buying one each year. Nope. I buy my own smartphone outright and then get a good sim deal. On that note you can pickup a good smartphone for far less price, Redmi Note Pro 10 is what I ahve and I like it for £250 with bells and tech that £900 phones doesn't have.

  18. You're going to hate me for saying this, but I've had the same PS2 since I believe 2001. I was a sophomore in high school when my parents got it for me.

  19. My sentiments exactly - sometimes it really is the game's fault. I'll take responsibility for me messing up by myself but when the game mechanics is the one that caused the failure, then I'll blame the game.

  20. This is AC Origins I played tonight. This picture says a lot. You have an assassin in armor a foot away from a vulnerable flamingo. And it sits there in the water knowing it can spread its wings any moment. And to get this close I have never experienced in wildlife in any game. His hands are raised like it's gonna strangle it. The assassin is dangerous, but he is curious and so is the flamingo. When humans interact with wildlife. What happens next is up to the human. Since I'm controlling Bayek, I respect its life. I left in black and white because color is even more dramatic. You saw it here first in case someone wants to claim it. I took a hundred pictures in this moment. I love this stuff. They created it. I caught it.

  21. Depending on the situation, it could be either. If it was because of my direct actions that I lost a fight, I'll blame myself. However, if it's something unnatural like glitching that killed me, I'll blame the game.

  22. My sentiments exactly - how is this going to make any difference? They'll encounter sexual content somewhere else because it's literally promoted everywhere. I also agree about the ratings system and parents need to guide their children properly. The problem we're encountering nowadays is that some parents aren't mature enough to be parents themselves and they blame everyone and everything else for raise their kids incorrectly.

  23. I can sympathize with the concern women may have as being seen as objects, but to use the excuse about censoring sexuality to protect children is hypocritical. That basically says that skin is bad and killing is just fine. If you add more clothing, then you must subtract the violence. There are ratings in games for a reason and it is up to the parent to teach their children and decide what is appropriate for their own. Otherwise, what is the point of ratings. If you want to make a kid's game and show skin, then accept the fact that the game will get an adult rating. In return, the stores and the parents are responsible who buys adult rated games. They do that at the movie theatre. What the hell is the difference.
