Release date for Horizon Forbidden West
killamch89 reacted to Crazycrab for a topic
The release date for Horizon Forbidden West has just been revealed at Gamescom: The game was originally advertised to come out this year but it has been delayed to February 18 2022. I've suspected that this would be delayed to Q1 2022 for quite a while but I didn't say anything because until now it was just speculation. I'm actually kinda glad this was delayed, I wouldn't even mind if it was delayed a little longer. Considering that the first game was in development for 6 or 7 years, then after that they spent most of the rest of 2017 working on the DLC. Then the less than 3 years since 2018 didn't seem like enough to me, especially with the pandemic. I know that the sequel doesn't need as much time since the development tools and some of the assets are already made but still. In addition to this they also revealed a performance patch for the PS5 version of Horizon Zero Dawn that unlocks 60FPS. https://www.gamesradar.com/uk/amp/horizon-forbidden-west-release-date-delayed-to-february-2022/1 point -
Does anyone else hate this? There's a minor glitch in RDR2 that happens all the time, and while it doesn't affect the game play at all, it still drives me nuts. I took a couple videos of it, and uploaded them to my channel. Not the gaming channel that I'm working on getting up, as I still haven't found someone to create a banner for it. I have them set to private, but here they are.1 point

Racism as a theme in video games
Reality vs Adventure reacted to Heatman for a topic
I think that I mentioned something about this with blacks being more at the receiving end when anything racist is involved. It carries more wave once it's associated with blacks not that other races aren't abused racially in one way or another. But, I don't really think he was trying to undermine the black race based on his assessment, he's just trying to objective.1 point -
Should video game writers have to bow to the whims of players?
Family sedan reacted to killamch89 for a topic
Creators should be free to create what they originally intended to instead of being pressured into pleasing players whose opinion might change on a dime even if they get what they originally asked for.1 point -

I've actually decided to lock this thread until @killamch89 DM's me to better explain what the topic is about. That's now four people replied clearly unsure as to exactly what the topic really is. There's no point on trying to discuss this as a community when the subject itself in unclear. So @killamch89, message me as soon as you can so we can determine exactly what the topic is, then I'll edit the topic to make it easier to understand then re-open it.1 point

Games that take place in or express a protagonist’s mental state or inner demons
killamch89 reacted to Razor1911 for a topic
But I think for a horror genre, audio is also as important as the visuals. Correct use of sounds like screams, bass boosted noises etc. helps to create an environment which makes the gamers freak out while playing at high volumes. 😆1 point -

What if YOU were a poker player, would YOU utilize it to win at gambling?

I think the examples here fall under the category of social commentary, in particular with how Franklin (GTA V) is treated. Definitely an interesting read.1 point

Modding Games
Reality vs Adventure reacted to Heatman for a topic
PC gaming is far more versatile than any other gaming platform. If you ever get hooked up to it, I'm sure you will never let go.1 point -
How many people do you meet or play as in these games aren't criminals, or at least unethical... Damn near nobody and that's regardless of race. You play as a criminal and almost everyone you meet are gangsters, dirty cops, corrupted politicians, greedy business tycoons, asshole celebrities or just generally kind of dicks. Exactly, there not pinning the identity of criminals on the playable characters because of their race, their doing because it's GTA! It is worth noting that a lot of the characters in this franchise are very stereotypical, but again it's not racially motivated.1 point

Don't worry, I started out like that 10 years ago but here I am! Just watch some videos from LinusTechTips, Bitwit and JayTwoCents on Youtube because those guys have extremely detailed videos about getting into PC gaming including how to build one. If you plan to build one, it's going to be pretty hard to get your hands on a graphics card and if you do, their prices have skyrocketed since last year due to Crypto. At this time, as much as it pains me to say it, it's more affordable to go with a pre-built machine and although they do cost quite a bit, they're cheaper than having to buy the parts individually especially in the last year.1 point -
Can you teach adult how to play game to while away time?
Heatman reacted to killamch89 for a topic
Tell me about it! I never liked Candy Crush because it was one of those basic puzzle games with candy pieces. I wondered why so many people were drawn to it in the first place. Not to mention the sound effects got on my nerves after hearing them a lot.1 point -
What makes you laugh uncontrollably while gaming?
The Blackangel reacted to Family sedan for a topic
Well, you don't want to be a one trick pony, I get that. But perhaps the gaming industry isn't doing enough to keep us engaged anymore.1 point -
Like I said, you don't need to use BBcode. The website itself recognises an image URL then reencodes the image link to display the image on it's own. It's the same with embedding YouTube videos, just copy the link into a post and the website takes care of the rest. I know it's something the "Old School" forum users might not be used to, but it does make things easier. If you encounter difficulties in the future using the site, don't hesitate to ask me for help.1 point

Something funny like that happens in RDR2. When you kill a muskrat, it sounds like a woman having an orgasm. The first time I heard it, I was sure it was a glitch. So I found a few more, and knew right away that it was scripted. That's when I started laughing. I need to shut up about RDR2. It's starting to get to the point that it's the only game I talk about.1 point -
