Best place to learn a new musical instrument
killamch89 reacted to Crazycrab for a topic
I figured I'd just throw this out there because my uncle recently passed away and amoung his things was a bass guitar I gave him some years back that got passed back to me. I try playing years ago but never got very far. I also get an electro-acoustic guitar that belonged to his late son. After looking through some local classifieds I found a pretty decent 1980's amp for £20 (pictured). So I've got the gear but you think is the best place/way to learn? I'm basically starting from beginners level again.1 point -
What type of fighting in games gives you the best adrenaline rush?
Heatman reacted to StaceyPowers for a topic
@Heatman mentioned elsewhere that melee fighting offers a great adrenaline rush. I would agree that this also typically gives me the biggest rush. What types of fighting in games do you get the best adrenaline rush from?1 point -
We Will Never Forget
killamch89 reacted to The Blackangel for a topic
Tuesday, September 11th, 2001 8:46AM EDT. The north tower of the World Trade Center was hit by a commercial airliner on flight 11. At 9:03AM, the southern tower was hit by another commercial airliner on flight 175. At 9:37AM flight 77 crashed into the Pentagon. At 10:03AM a fourth airliner, flight 93, crashed in a field near Shanksville Pennsylvania, southeast of Pittsburgh. The target was believed to have been either the Capitol or the White House. Four planned and deliberate attacks against the United States took the lives of 2,977 innocent people. It also took the 19 lives of the terrorists executing the plan, for a total of 2,996 people. In the aftermath, the brave men and women who rushed into the devastation to search in the hopes of finding a single survivor, who in turn lost their own lives doing so must be acknowledged. That puts the number well over 3000. We cannot forget, nor can we forgive what happened. Not only was the United States devastated by the attack, but the rest of the civilized world was in shock also. Many of our allies joined in with us to bring those responsible to justice. We will never stop seeking for justice to win out for the atrocities committed by man. I would say "mankind" but there is no kindness to be found in acts like these. I ask everyone to take a moment to remember those who died, simply because one man didn't like us because of where we lived. Despite being misanthropic, I don't believe in genocide unless it is the entire human race.1 point -
How do you choose names for your characters in RPGs?
Withywarlock reacted to m76 for a topic
I draw a blank every time I need to name a character. I can't think of a name if my life depended on it. So I usually just end up naming the character something stupid or a name I heard recently.1 point -
I traded it in for another game, I don't even remember what.1 point

Most Relaxing Game Format?
StaceyPowers reacted to Reality vs Adventure for a topic
Just as you said. But also being able to interact with the environment is relaxing. Maybe sit on a bench and take in the views; pet a stray animal; take a dip in a pond; I like the camp setup in RDR2; or just do something to pass a little time. In Ghost of Tsushima, you can play a flute song whenever you want, where the protagonist busts out a flute and plays it. Another thing that game has is areas to find where you meditate and contemplate. Also having a photo feature where you can leave movement of the environment on and play music, so you can just stare at the screen as if you were there.1 point -

Gaming Clan Recruitment
Heatman reacted to Withywarlock for a topic
I doubt they're still recruiting given that was their only post from just under a year ago. That, and I doubt they're going to tell you if they're "filled up with toxic people" I'm afraid.1 point -
Yeah, that's a problem I would never have. I like gaming far too much to just stick to one game over and over and over the whole time. That has to become tedious and feel like abject misery after a while! Variety is the spice of life, as they say!1 point

Yeah - it's definitely not built for every gamer. You'd hardly find gamers who are deep into playing Minecraft like other games. Those that are deep into it hardly play other games. There is a guy I meet online about 6 years ago called Soulwatcher, he's strictly into playing only Minecraft and he's very good at it.1 point

Oh absolutely agreed! I mean, look at The Uncensored Library, for example, a huge undertaking to use Minecraft to bypass news blockages in certain countries. It's an immense undertaking, and yet it's used and updated frequently! Such incredible building there and such an innovative use for a video game. There are other equally amazing projects inside of Minecraft, so there is no question it is a platform for great innovation, it's just not for everyone.1 point

Exactly - you completely understand the situation at its very best because the moment you think there's a breather for you to take time to catch up with initially abandoned games and boom comes out another irresistible one.1 point
-
Yeah - it's actually very good looking once you get to see who's very good at it after a finished project. They'd have sleepless night trying to build a masterclass outfit.1 point

Seriously - when I say I'm not going to get another one so as to play down the ones already in backlog, a new thrilling one would come out and I'm back at it again ; just like I'm waiting on Call of Duty Vanguard now.1 point

Exactly - I'm not sure if I have ever had the level of frustration I had with playing Minecraft compared to any other games that I have ever played apart from playing Dark Souls.1 point

Is the Wii U a Future Classic or Destined To Forever Be a Flop?
PGen98 reacted to The Blackangel for a topic
As far as Nintendo consoles go, it's really hard to make one a classic. There has to be something extremely special about it. The NES for example launched us from 2 bit graphics up into 8 bit graphics. The games were so much more complex and detailed. The graphics were astounding for the era. The SNES introduced up to shoulder buttons. No one had thought about putting buttons there. The controller laid the groundwork for all future controller designs. The games were also innovative because they allowed us so much more range and so many options, that it's hard to match. There are games that debuted in that era (on Sega as well) that have led to blockbuster movies. The original Game Boy did the same thing for portable gaming that the NES did for home gaming. Prior to it, the only real option we had were Tiger games. Yet with the Game Boy, we only needed one console, and could carry cartridges with us to play different games. Then there's the N64. It brought us into the 360° view of gaming, which before was unheard of. Most people disliked the controller design (personally I liked it) but the fact that it was the first 360° system had people drooling. Those 4 systems all gave something new and groundbreaking to gaming as a whole, not just Nintendo. That alone makes them classics. Age is another factor. It also needs a bit of a "cult following" if you will, to make it a classic. For example, with about 3 game exceptions, I am a classic gamer. I play Atari 2600, NES, SNES, N64, and Sega Genesis almost exclusively. They are what I grew up on, and I still vastly prefer them. If you see me gaming, it's a 98% chance that it's one of those systems. So there are several factors that go into consideration as to whether or not something has earned Classic status.1 point -
Oldest console you own?
Family sedan reacted to Razor1911 for a topic
I too have PlayStation 4. Earlier I had PlayStation 1 and 2, Never had 3 though. All of them are deeply connected to my childhood emotions. I always remember playing and enjoying games on those consoles. The first one I had was Sega console, but after that all these had become my part of life. 😊1 point -
The last time I took an inventory of my games backlogs, the physical games that I'm yet to play was 107 games and the digital games should be around 211.1 point

Do you think people can learn to be more tolerant from playing games?
Family sedan reacted to Razor1911 for a topic
In that way, if we expect that playing games will teach us to be tolerant, than that would be a total misconception. Most of the games are based on extreme violence. No way, we can learn to be tolerant here. 😏1 point -
Who are the game devs/pubs you respect the most?
Family sedan reacted to Razor1911 for a topic
At this moment, if you ask me which developer or publisher I respect the most, definitely EA would not come in that list, but if you ask me which devs/pubs games I play the most, I would say EA. 😆1 point -

Human beings are always attracted to what gives them attention because it offers them a sense of belonging. It's just worrying when they do almost just about everything to get such attention even at the expense of others.1 point -

Weird, I've been on android for years, several phones and never had a problem doing any of those things. I just choose a track stored on my phone and away I go. But to the point. You absolutely right. Epic are not saints here, there's only concern here is themselves and have been kinda trying to weaponize the public against Apple (and now Google as well, being behind Android), and that's kinda shady. I suppose it will be amusing to watch these multibillion dollar cooperations bring irony to word "Cooperate" and bicker like children, so my message to them is...1 point
