One of the developments that's been a serious issue in the gaming industry is having to deal with a toxic community which we have had so much for so long now. Take a look at how toxic Fortnite community is which most people tend to walk away from as it's not a healthy community in terms of having your peace of mind. So, with all that being said, this community Epal ; if it offers what they quote to offer, it's definitely going to run over with lots of gamers looking for where they would have peace of mind and feel at home. Ps. Epal coming with an app of their own, is one sure way to making it very easy and user friendly to access the site/community.3 points

How do you handle a situation in a game where you are out of supplies and health?

From the article: "Discourse begins. Many explain how these preconceived notions are easily and simply not true. Sure, Scandinavian people tend to be white, but for 300 years, they traveled as Vikings. And, historically, there is evidence of Black Vikings and Vikings going as south as North Africa, making a distinction even for the Sub-Sahara Africa region. Even Assassin’s Creed Valhalla captures this quite well, with North Africa having lore related to the game, and there is some speculation that a potential Muspelheim DLC will correlate with North Africa in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Some go further to explain that the Jotun could be anything; there is no clear point of reference for how a member of the Jotun race should look, with everything from Marvel to other video games simply putting their interpretation onto it. Blue skin, large stature—that’s the common approach, but it’s not accurate to something that doesn't actually exist either. So, combine the Viking’s travel and the Jotun’s mystery, and Jotuns can be anything devs want them to be."2 points

As the old boxers used to say - bob n weave. I'll try to avoid battle as much as possible and get some materials so that I can craft some supplies/health kits.2 points -
Yes, we all had those games, where 2 minutes into the game and you already know it is a lost cause, because your teammates just can’t help but rage like a 3-year-old baby. Gaming is supposed to be fun; it is really a waste of time to be arguing with these idiots. Yet you need to since you want to stop your support from walk down the mid lane to feed 20 times. This is where Epal.gg comes in. Every single person on Epal.gg is ready to game and hangout, and mostly importantly, they aren’t toxic! They will work with you in-game, they can pick whatever character you want them to pick, they will back you up in-game, and they can even verbally defend you when there is toxic waste in your game. So yeah, it is very useful if you want a complete experience without any negativity. Give it a try at www.epal.gg1 point

I'm pretty sure nobody here has played Revenge on School, since it was only ever available in my native language. It's a text adventure game from 1994, it is full of gratuitous violence and it's so absurd and grotesque that it's actually hilarious. There was only one thing certain: that every computer at school had a copy of it somewhere hidden away in a folder.1 point

I actually did play Enchanted Arms... and I thought it was pretty terrible. The battle system was kinda interesting by GOD even by JRPG standards the characters were obnoxious as hell! It also has I think the worst tutorial I've ever experienced. It treats you like a fucking idiot, there were full paragraphs of spoken dialogue to explain even the simplest of things like opening a chest or climbing a ladder. I never realized it was developed by From Software. That's curious little anecdote but this was before the Souls Series. My own contribution now and I'll bet not many of you have played Prisoner of War, a PS2 game where you play a captured US in piolet in World War 2. I also reckon (or at least hope) that not many of have played this piece of crap, which I consider to THE worst I have ever played.1 point

What is a game you have played that you would bet no one else here has?
Heatman reacted to Withywarlock for a topic
I had to look that up because I had no idea how one would make a horror game in 1986. It seems quite spooky, but the music is a bit... upbeat, I find! Mind, it sets the tone for what's about to follow: "your car erupts in an explosion! At least it will save you the cost of a tow!" 🤣 I'm sorry to say I've played this. I tried to play it again earlier this year and I also didn't like it for its controls. Bearing in mind this was right at the beginning in the hospital(?). I'm glad it wasn't just me, but it's also sad that others have had trouble with it. As for games I'm certain nobody here's played, there's quite a few cheap picks, mostly those of the Warhammer 40,000 license. I'll pick something more interesting though and say Enchanted Arms. I hear lots of people say they're fans of FromSoftware for their Soulsborne games but never do I hear them claim they've played Enchanted Arms, which is a very different game to their usual fare. It's a 3D JRPG from the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 era, with tile-based tactical gameplay and mechanics and lore that you can understand, so in that regard it's nothing like a JRPG. Very fun, and virtually none of the praise/criticisms you could have for the Soulsborne games really applies here, so don't be turned on/off if you like/dislike FromSoftware's typical fare.1 point -
Did a reviewer ever change how you perceived a game?
Withywarlock reacted to Razor1911 for a topic
That is important to remember these things while going for a review. Usually, if I want to have a look on review I watch 4-5 videos. That helps to get a clear idea about the game. Rather than taking decisions simply after watching a single review which may be biased.1 point -

This behaviour from gamers irritates in a huge way. People like m76 (this time I'm not using the mention function because that triggered him) will always claim they're defending creative liberty by calling out inclusion. The problem with thier argument is that they pick and choose what counts as creative liberty and what doesn't to suit themselves. To these people, a game developer's design can only be a creative liberty when it's something that those people themselves feel comfortable with, anything that deviates from that is "political". They would never accuse a developer of "pandering" or the design being "political" in nature when it's a design they were comfortable with or approve of, even if it didn't make any sense and actually was political or justifiably controversial (like if it were whitewashing, for example). So you see, the "creative liberty" argument is a lie to desguise the person making the argument's own prejudices. In this case with Angrboda, that prejudice is racism. As the article points out, the character is a Jotun, so there are not real limitations or patterns to adhere to when it come to the design, so why can't she be black girl and have that be the very creative liberty these ass-holes claim to be defending? So you're right @Heatman, this is totally about people simply being racist as well as hypocrites.1 point

Withywarlock reacted to Heatman for a topic
It's actually why this community is of a very good use to most people who are very active on it because we get to pick up priceless information without any bias that's going to be helpful to each and everyone of us in the future. Some newbie gamers in the forum get to know here what to likely expect from jumping into games pre-order from the experiences of others.1 point -
Did a reviewer ever change how you perceived a game?
Heatman reacted to Withywarlock for a topic
You and @Razor1911 are both right. Reviewers are only human at the end of the day, and have no special qualifications that give them a protected identity (such as a doctor or a lawyer.) For all our English A-levels, literature-critique diplomas and repeat viewings of the Angry Video Game Nerd, we're just giving an opinion based on our own or our editor's ethics and review criteria, with the odd dash of objective analysis we choose to make. Hence the phrase "everyone's a critic," or the famous quote by Jean Sibelius, "Remember: a statue has never been set up in honour of a critic!"1 point -
Do you ever skip optional content?

As long as they are very useful in getting you play the game in such a way that you wouldn't have anything missed is why they are very important and the developers that had it put there aren't silly.1 point -
Do you ever skip optional content?
Heatman reacted to Withywarlock for a topic
Very rarely do I skip such things. Even when I'm just skipping through dialogue options, I like to go through them all in case something gets added to my journal automatically, or may provide additional dialogue later on because I'd asked about it. As for zones, they require a lot more attention, time and energy so I may or may not go into them. In a Spiders game, which are typically short and you eke out every bit of value for money you can, they're not particularly optional (and are designed as such to give you a leg-up in the main quest, to great effect I might add) so I make a point of doing them, even if I don't like how they drag out the game, however short.1 point -
Did a reviewer ever change how you perceived a game?

You got that point. Most of the times the comments section provide even more details than actual video. People questions, discuss and share their own feelings with the game. Obviously that will help us to get a clear idea.1 point -

We talked about 1st person and 3rd person. What about SECOND person?
Family sedan reacted to The Blackangel for a topic
The title says it all. What about games in second person? Granted there aren't a lot, but if you've played certain racing games you know what it is. First person has you in the drivers seat looking through the drivers eyes. Third person has you out behind the car watching it. But second has you in a spot like you're riding on top of the car. Like I said, there aren't a lot of games that offer a second person perspective, but for the games that do, what is the thought of them? I think it's an interesting option, but can't say I've played enough games with the option to really have an opinion.1 point -

Family sedan reacted to Wolves for a topic
You can't exactly play properly in 2nd person. It's more of a mirror of yourself, so you're like watching yourself play while the character is looking at you. Usually only see 2nd person shots in gameplay editing.1 point -
We talked about 1st person and 3rd person. What about SECOND person?
Family sedan reacted to Alexander. for a topic
@Shagger has hit the nail on the head, as to why this wouldn't work out in a game title. Some videos on YouTube have explored this concept to give other gamers the chance to experience the sight of second person gaming. Personally? I would always stick with 1st, and it makes aiming at your opponent far easier.1 point -
We talked about 1st person and 3rd person. What about SECOND person?
Family sedan reacted to Shagger for a topic
Second person is something pretty much impossible to contemplate in a video game because the 2nd person is the perspective of your subject. In Call of Duty, this would be controlling the game from the view of whoever it was you were trying to shoot, or in something like Assassin's Creed, you'd be trying to control your character from the perspective of the guards. The camera angels you described in a racing game are still third person, just from a different angle. There are video games, especially racers, that have cinematic camera that take the view of how a motorrace looks on TV, for example. That is a second-person perspective, but nobody making a genuine effort to control the game accurately would actually use them. They're just for show.1 point
