MCU Phase 1 Review: The Incredible Hulk
kingpotato reacted to Techno for a topic
This is my second part of the MCU phase 1 review, I will be doing all 6 films, and then rank all the films. SPOLIER WARNING The Incredible Hulk, is the most unknown of the MCU films, it has the lowest box office performance (so far). It is perhaps, the least popular MCU film. The Story: The Incredible Hulk is not a very interesting film, it has a very tame story. There is stakes, but they don't feel world-ending or personnel. This feels more rushed than Iron Man. But to be fair, it doesn't really hurt the film, rather it dulls it a little bit more. (2/5) The Characters: The actors are good, but there isn't really anything special about them. There is no charm, wit, or emotion on them. The characters are the same way, Bruce Banner feels real enough, but the side characters are uninteresting, and feel stale. (2/5) The Villain: The Abomination is not a very good villain, Iron Monger at least was an actual character, while he feels like more of a plot point rather than a person. (1/5) The Soundtrack: I cant remember a single piece of music from this film. (1/5) The Importance: The film was mainly abandoned after it's release. The only big thing to come out of the film was Hulk, but Shang-Chi did bring back Abomination, and General Ross has returned in some movies, but overall, you could skip it. (3/5) Final Thoughts: The Incredible Hulk is the weakest film of Phase 1, it doesn't really do anything, nothing here feels special. Everything here is dull and lifeless. That's probably the best way to describe this film: dull and lifeless. Final Score: (2/5)1 point -
Video games might relieve depression in older adults
Withywarlock reacted to StaceyPowers for a topic
Here is an article about research into video games for relieving depression in older adults. "In previous research, scientists found that 60% to 70% of older patients who were unable to benefit from antidepressant meds and who played specially designed video games reported a 50% decline in depressive symptoms in 30 days, according to U of U Health."1 point -

How many gaming headsets have you gone through?
Boblee reacted to The Blackangel for a topic
At the moment I'mon my third and fourth headsets, due to my damn dog deciding they were chew toys. One was a limited edition Zelda headset. We found it on eBay, and @Rain Dew replaced it since it's her dog that destroyed it. The other headset was destroyed by the same dog, so @Rain Dew replaced it as well. Bulldogs are a major pain in the ass sometimes. She's sweet as candy, but a pain in the ass.1 point -
Team Names Being Renamed due to PC

How can you fail to see 'Indians' is not offensive? Indians come from India, they are not the same as Native Americans. But I agree that the replacement names are stupid.1 point -

Worst Game You Have Ever Played?
kingpotato reacted to Darth for a topic
It has to be Skyrim for me. This is going to be slightly controversial since I know that a lot of people actually really like it. I got it for free with my Xbox 360 and tried it and did not like it at all. Everything was just so confusing and the majority of my time was spent trying to figure out how to get to the top of one of the mountains.1 point -

Bad Comedy Movies

Grown Ups had its moments, but I agree. It was pretty stupid. Adam Sandler was good in his early years, but seems to have gotten more interested in the money than the movie itself these days.1 point -
Post your unpopular opinions ?

True. We can either agree to disagree, or get into a full blown flame war. I opt for the former, as I just don't have the time or interest to be involved in something as childish as a flame war.1 point -

Video games might relieve depression in older adults
Withywarlock reacted to killamch89 for a topic
Hundred percent facts - Video games are just a hobby. It shouldn't be used as a coping mechanism for depression. Professional help is always the first route to go so that you can at least address the root cause rather than temporarily forgetting about it.1 point -

Xbox Buys Activision. Sony Buys Bungie. Where is Nintendo in this buying craze?
Withywarlock reacted to m76 for a topic
They don't cover the same market. Nintendo is seen more as a toy, than an enthusiast gaming console. No use getting offended by this, it's just the truth. Nintendo vs. Playstation can happily live and let live by the other. Unlike XBOX vs. Playstation. Even when you look at gaming influencers, they rarely talk about nintendo, they talk about playstation and xbox, and maybe PC. It has nothing to do with how large or small the company is. They just cover a different segment of the market, with little overlap between them. And as such I don't think either Sony or Microsoft sees Nintendo as a threat.1 point -
Xbox Buys Activision. Sony Buys Bungie. Where is Nintendo in this buying craze?
Withywarlock reacted to Kane99 for a topic
Nintendo doesn't need to do anything. They can sit back, and watch Microsoft and Sony do their thing. They have a great deal of exclusive games on their end, and their market is set and fine. They don't need the Call of Duty, Destiny with Bungie and so on. They sell consoles based on being just Nintendo. No one is buying a switch to play Call of Duty or the big time triple A titles. They're buying it to play Mario, Zelda, and other Nintendo games. What studios would they even buy? Capcom? Konami? I just don't see them as ones to purchase any companies.1 point -
Does Anyone Play Play2Earn Games?
Withywarlock reacted to m76 for a topic
Can it even be called playing, when you are doing something for money and not for fun? I feel that if there is an opportunity to earn money in games then they loose their purpose of being escapism and become part of the grind. If someone offered me to money to play my favorite game, I'd refuse. Because I know it would ruin that game for me.1 point -

To me, this is just another con. I'd rather pay money for a good game then waste hours of my life playing crap for a pittance. The only people than make any real money with these games are the dodgy bastards who publish them.1 point -
Video games might relieve depression in older adults
Reality vs Adventure reacted to The Blackangel for a topic
I suffer from depression the same as other members here, such as @Shagger mentioned. I've had to have a gun talked out of my hand many times. Last night for example, I was ready, willing, and wanted to die. I started crying one time, because I knew for a fact I was going to do it and I was scared. I had a gun in my mouth and it was cocked. Games are an escape sure, but it's like substance abuse. When you come back to the real world, your depression didn't leave. It was just put on pause for a brief moment and hits you hard when it's taken off pause. If you're able to do so, go for a walk. Get a fur baby and play with them. Indulge in an art project. The creation of something is more rewarding than you may think. Take a class, or just assign yourself homework for something you want to learn or do. Meditate. I'm not saying give up something you enjoy. That will only make your depression worse. Continue gaming. But don't try to use it as something to help your depression. Because I'll tell you right now, it doesn't work.1 point -
Video games might relieve depression in older adults
Withywarlock reacted to Shagger for a topic
WHO. FUCKING. FUNDS. THESE. STUDIES! Video games are a hobby, a pastime. You may as well study how fishing has a positive affect on depression and come the very predictable conclusion that INDULGING HOBBIES HELPS! This pisses me off because I actually do suffer from depression and I can tell you that, if anything, video games are not the best solution. You are better going out, being physically active. Even today I bought a flash drive, but instead of having it delivered I went out to pick it up because that was better for my mental health. Yes, playing video games is better for your mental health and helps in combating depression, but compared to what? Doing nothing? Trust me, if you reading this feels depressed and in dark place, get the fuck off whatever device you're reading this on and go for a god damn walk. Don't play a fucking video game.1 point
