Driving for Recreation

Who like to drive just to see things like nature, big cities etc.? Where do you drive to? Do you stay at a motel or camp? Does anyone have or have used an RV? Does anyone rent cars for traveling?1 point -
Project: Close Combat
Shagger reacted to TheFjordFox for a topic
Hello there, good people! So, let me cut to the chase! I have recently taken upon myself a mission. Perhaps a calling even, some may say. Are we talking a noble pursuit for the betterment of mankind? ...No. Certainly not! If anything, quite the contrary! I have decided to fight my way through all the war that the Close Combat franchise has to offer! Well... All the war that the singleplayer grand campaigns have to offer, anyway. My goal is: Play through every single Close Combat game to ever exist. With both factions in the longest campaign the games offer up, on the hardest difficulty there is, making things even harder for myself than the developers originally intended for it to be, as we move along! I figured, instead of posting about each game separately... Why not have a project collection, where everything can be located as it comes out? And so here we are! I might even throw in some reviews of the games as time goes by, as I certainly am getting a good sense of what is what, and the differences between the various iterations as I progress through my personal mission! Now, I am a seasoned veteran of the franchise, and have been playing Close Combat games for, at the time of writing this, around two and a half decades. My first experience with the series was with the Close Combat 2: A Bridge Too Far demo. This was back before everyone had "the internet". Whatever that place was. However - a friend of mine, when I was in my early elementary school years, had gotten his hands on the demo from a CD in a gaming-magazine! He told me about it, and I through it sounded amazing. So we went to his place, and I was not wrong! Instantly hooked me right in like a true sucker! And here I am, 25 years later and still playing these dang games! I have for a while been considering playing through them all with both factions, and put the playthroughs out on youtube. And well, I finally got to it! Why the heck not, right!? It's somewhat of a niche game, and some of it's iterations barely have any LPs of them, so I enjoy the thought that one day, anyone will be able to come to my youtube channel and have all the games laid out for them to choose from in a let's play type format! With some reviews, when the time comes, and heck - even some of the better mods out there being played through as well! Why do I bother with this? Well. As you will surely figure out for yourself if you watch any substantial amount of these videos, it is simply because I am insane, and don't have my priorities in life straight! Close Combat. A love and hate relationship that has it's ups and downs. It has me jumping out of my seat screaming in joy at unsuspected victories. It also, on the other end of the spectrum, have me close to beating a hole through my screen at the utter unbelievability of it's BS at times! So... come along from the rides, and see the best and the worst sides of me as the journey goes! I will now list the four playthroughs I have already got out there below. In the future, more will be added. If there is a specific CC game you'd like to see next, that I haven't played already, I am certainly open for requests on that part. However, I am likely to finish the vanilla games before I dip into the glorious mods that are out there! You can suggest those too - it will just take a while until I get to them! Either way! I will list them like this; the aggressor in the campaign first, then the defender second. So for the Normandie landings - the Allies, then the Germans. For the invasion of Russia - The Germans, then the Russians. Alright! Here we go! Close Combat: Wacht Am Rhein (Axis Grand Campaign) Close Combat: Wacht Am Rhein (Allied Grand Campaign) Close Combat: The Longest Day (Allied Grand Campaign) Close Combat: The Longest Day (Axis Grand Campaign) Close Combat: Last Stand Arnhem (Allied Grand Campaign) Close Combat: Last Stand Arnhem (Allied Grand Campaign) Close Combat 3: Cross Of Iron (Axis Grand Campaign) Close Combat 3: Cross Of Iron (Allied Grand Campaign) That is the four iterations of the franchise I currently have available out there at the time of making this post. More is sure to follow soon, and I hope some of y'all will want to come along for the ride! If you got any questions, suggestions, hate or love, I am receptive to it all! Let me know what you think, wether you think I'm doing allright, or you think I need to make some changes to how I do things! For all I know, you might be right! Oh well! If you're still reading at this point, I would like to thank you for your attention, and I sincerely hope your time spent with this does not feel wasted! Y'all have a good one, folks! And may Cthulhu bless you! Cheers!1 point -

Abortion as Birth Control
The Blackangel reacted to Reality vs Adventure for a topic
There are many people who have to pull the plug from a family member in a medical facility. That is a choice they have to make. Are you against that? Do you feel a family member should have the right or not have the right to make that decision to pull the plug? In Texas, where the most extreme abortion law has been passed where they only have a 6 week period to get an abortion, the state has the Tx Advance Directives Act giving the right for hospitals to pull the plug on patients. They give family members 10 days to move the patient to a different facility before they pull the plug. Isn’t that a bit of hypocrisy? I’ll give you a chance to respond before I start making a whole list of hypocrisies. And every time I read about republican politician calls for violence, I'll post it here under abortions and pro-life.1 point -
Abortion as Birth Control
The Blackangel reacted to Reality vs Adventure for a topic
Republicans want a fetus to live on that could otherwise have serious deformation, health problems, product of rape etc. then drop them like a hot potato claiming they don’t deserve aid for disabilities, health insurance, food, and any aid for the parents. Don’t you think being forced to keep a child would bring more need of government assistance? Which goes against all republican talking points on attacking welfare. The only other option for some parents is to give it up for adoption. Then you need government funding for that. Or the child grows up in foster care and gets abused by parent after parent and gives them all sorts of psychological problems. So it’s hard to take republicans serious on this issue when they believe wearing a mask is a violation of personal rights and then go and ban abortions even for mothers that have health conditions or even rape. And republicans are a party that has spread so many lies and conspiracies, and worships QANON with all their craziness, sorry but republicans have lost credibility in everything. The only policy republicans have is immigration, whitewash schools, abortion, and voting suppression. Republicans don’t even want to have a presidential debate. They are seriously considering opting out of it. And that’s because they have nothing to debate when it comes to actual policy. So these bills republicans are passing is nothing more and nothing less than an attack on democracy. Critical race theory, abortions, and stolen election is all they have. And republicans, including fox news initially supported Russia in it’s attack but realized it’s a losing argument, along with all their conspiracies. But a bunch of republicans still do support Russia. So how do Americans take anything serious from the republican party when they are nothing but a pure disgrace in every way. Republicans think they care about pro-life and abortions when they constantly want to get rid of healthcare and have zero proposals, they want to take away the school lunch program, they separated immigrant children from their parents and locked them away; they even wanted border patrol to shoot migrants and make an alligator moat; they support the mass incarceration of colored people and deny any wrong doing from police shootings; they support the brutalization of protestors. That’s eventually going to be the start of their genocide by kidnapping and killing protestors. That’s exactly what your leaders have full intention of doing. So fuck off with your fake ass pro-life. Republicans have legalized the terrorist act of plowing through crowds in a vehicle. And it wasn’t long ago that your leaders completely neglected to protect the black community from lead in the water in Flint Michigan who have been charged for it. Trump disrespected fallen American soldiers and the republican party as well as fox news all supported it or denied it. They are against any environmental regulations. They incite violence and always support cops killing people. They never want to discuss gun laws after mass shootings and could care less about the loopholes that allow crazies to get tons of weapons. They always call it a good guy with a gun and are so quick tempered to threaten and murder. 3 republicans voted against the the new anti lynching law. Seriously??? They are pro death sentence. They want to eliminate all welfare and some republicans have even attacked social security. They completely botched a pandemic response and did everything they could to politicize a pandemic when thousands of deaths were occurring, all the while refusing to wear a mask and attacking those who do. They failed to use pandemic funds to help hospitals. Instead, lies, lies, lies, and more lies. They purposely fail in natural disaster responses when it’s not a republican state, and even screwed over Puerto Rico in their hurricane funding. They say Myanmar should happen in the USA. They say USA should get liberated like they feel Russia is doing to Ukraine. They openly call for a civil war. They threaten their own co-workers in congress. They have judges in the court system who let murderers run free, and give min sentence for their beloved brethren that commit terrorist attacks. A judge gives a right wing extremist probation who left a bag of bombs at a BLM protest and more explosives were found in his home. They didn’t want to give capital police metals for trying to fight off the Jan 6 attack. Trump says he can kill someone on 5th Ave and not lose votes. Does that sound like a party for pro-life? And it’s not just trump because most of them republicans have agreed to everything he said and did. They sold their souls, at the same time claiming to be christian. They can take their pro-life bullshit to the grave and let the stink rot away their bones.1 point -
I don't know but underrated to me is something that is good but is likely going to be overlooked in time as time passes on will be more appreciated. GT 7 is not one of those games, were did i even bring this up that GT7 would be an underrated game. Yeah i know but did you even read what i wrote before making a comment, GT 7 came out March 4, Grid legends came out February 25th.1 point

E-sports and Play-To-Earn games are very different. Play-to-Earn is, at best, a grind to earn a pittance. E-Sports are professional sports that only years of training and a high level of talent will give you even half a chance at success. 99% of people who play golf would get eaten alive if they tried it as a profession, as is the case in any sport. E-Sports is no different. You need credibility, sponsors, to have proven that you can be competitive at the top level. Yes, there are people who make a good living in E-Sports, but it takes so much more than liking games. Unless you have some credentials that we don't know about as a competitive gamer, then I'm sorry, but this just isn't something that's a realistic pursuit. Tens of, maybe even hundreds of millions of people play video games, and the amount of people that make a steady living out of playing them number maybe in the thousands at the most. I'm not trying to bust your bubble, you just need to be aware.1 point

Religion has such huge hypocrisy when it comes to pro life. The republicans in Idaho passed a bill that allows them to exterminate 90% of the wolf population. That's wolf genocide. They tried that very same thing in Yellowstone decades ago and it ruined the ecosystem there, so they brought the wolf population back. The Idaho governor also passed the Heartbeat bill to ban abortions once it has a heartbeat. So you want to save a fetus and slaughter wolves? What gives him the right to make that decision huh?1 point -

Its sad to see Square Enix try so hard but fail to make new games look fun. Guess the only success for them is to keep re-release old JRPG over and over again. Imagine going to mall and supermarket to buy a few things and it’s empty yet somebody decided to open the doors WHY who the $uck knows 🤔1 point -

Around 20 years ago, I was homeless. I spent 3 years on the street with nowhere to go. I lived in an old abandoned feed mill. My egg donor (aka mother) and female DNA match (aka sister) only lived a few blocks from me, but neither would take me in. During that time I was alone. Virtually. Where I was staying there was an old pile of sawdust and grain. It was about 6 feet high and probably about 12 feet wide. There was a colony of rats living in it. I would say close to 100 there. I knew that they would tear me up if I tried to dominate them, but I also knew they would do the same if I submitted to them too much. The patriarch of the colony defended his colony fiercely at first. I never attacked, but I didn't back down either. Eventually we grew to trust each other. After that we became friends. I named him Star, because he was black with a white star on his belly. Over time I gained the confidence of the whole colony. My home at the time was a sleeping bag and a duffle bag that had clothes in it for a pillow. I would often wake up with rats sleeping either on top of me, or even in the sleeping bag with me. There was once I woke up to a female giving birth on my sleeping bag. While I was living there it was hard to find food at first. Normally I would end up stealing what I could from grocery stores. Not a good idea, I know, but when you're starving you don't have many options. Then I got to thinking. When I was 16 I worked at Pizza Hut. I remembered that at the end of the night, we always threw a ton of pizza in the trash. Stuff that people who dined in didn't finish, or pizza that just never got picked up. So I started dumpster diving there. It was a gold mine. I never had to steal food again. A lot of it was water logged due to throwing cups of ice and stuff in the trash. I always passed on that. But the dry stuff I took with me. I got burnt out on pizza REAL quick, but hey I had to eat. It also gave the rats a better meal too. Granted rats are scavengers, and will even resort to cannibalism if they have to, but we had some good meals together. Water was never hard to come by. Every building has an outdoor water spigot, and a couple 2 liter bottles kept me hydrated. Granted I wouldn't have minded a soda once in a while, but that just wasn't in the cards at the time. So I found a steady supply of food and water. Over the years my spirits got lower and lower. I had less and less will to go on. Star was always there to keep me going, but he didn't have magical powers to make everything ok. He always followed me around like a puppy. When I would leave the mill, I would either put him on my shoulder and take him with me, or he would sit there at the door waiting for me looking so sad that I was gone. And when I got back he would go absolutely nuts. He was so sweet. But one day, I decided that I was done. I couldn't live like that anymore. I decided it was time to die. So I climbed up the stairs to the top floor which was about 5 stories up. There was an old window there that was busted out. I looked out of it and decided that a head first dive would do the trick. I started to climb up into the window when I felt this small tug on my pants leg. I turned around thinking I was caught on something. I was caught sure enough, but not how I was thinking. It was Star. He had followed me up the stairs. I tried to move him away so he didn't go with me. I started climbing up again, and again I felt that tug. He had me again. Somehow he knew what I was going to do, and he was determined to stop me. His heart was bigger than any I had ever encountered. He was the first one that loved me unconditionally. He fought me to stop me from killing myself. I couldn't believe it. A wild rat loved me that much. I sat down with him and he climbed up on my shoulder. I started crying. If he loved me that much, there was no way I could do that to him. From then on everywhere I went, he went. Not just because I wanted him with me, but because he wouldn't let me out of his sight. Even if I just stepped around the door to pee, he was right there with me. I'm crying right now as I'm writing this. If it wasn't for Star I wouldn't be here right now. To this day, no breathing creature holds as much of a place in my heart as a rat. I have probably about 40 little guys here with me. I have an emotional need for them. It's all in thanks to Star. I wish rats lived longer or were immortal so I could have him here with me. But unfortunately he's gone. And I'm the only one that even knew he existed. Maybe, if I'm lucky enough, I'll see him again. On the other side. I just hope he's patient, because while I'm eager to see him again, I'm not eager enough to go for a permanent visit. At least not right now.0 points
