Games where you have to take care of your character's health
killamch89 and 2 others reacted to Yaramaki for a topic
Kingdom come deliverance forces you to eat, not only that but food can get spoiled over time and your character will remind you when they are hungry. You will here the phrase i'm feeling kinda hungry quite often especially early game. It's a game everybody into rpg's and medieval period atleast should have played once. Another game i can vaguely remember altough i don't like bringing it up is shenmue 3 i believe your health is going down if you haven't eaten in a while or when you were involved in a fight health doesen't automaticly recover. But the less said about shenmue 3, the better. Think Far cry primal (god who remembers that game) also had something similair that you coulden't acess the snowy mountains if you diden't have a certain clothing item or you would freeze to death. Same with Biomutant where you had to obtain a special suit first before you could enter a toxic area. I think Tamagotchi should be worth mentioning, since every kid in the late 90 ies had one of these. Man how many times mine died 😄3 points -
Looks like i won't be getting any mail sometime soon, since japan post suspended delivering mail to europe and since it's been pilling up so here is the stuff from the past 2 months orso. Meanly stuck with the 3 systems i'm meanly collecting for at the moment japanese xbox, xbox 360 and wii u. Og Xbox pick ups, think i'm down to 175 out 222 games released in japan, so it's just a matter of chipping away at it, got most of the expensive stuff already, hopefully i can complete it this year well if i don't get sidetracked that is : Xbox 360. trying to round out the collectors editions, pretty sure i have 90% of the collectors editions released in japan now, as for games i'm not really far off to have everithing it's just a matter of feeling to get all the sports games : And wii u, i've got some found memories for the system so that's why i collect for it. One of my top 10 jrpg's off all time is still trapped there btw. There are only a little over 100 physical games released in japan so it's something i'm aiming for to complete. Not going super hard on it, if i can find a deal i'll take it but i'm not in a rush. Also a lost shikigami no shiro limited edition on the ps2 because i had no clue where to put it : And the best for last, i need to stop buying dreamcast consoles since it's going to ruin me haha. Now i see how much i suck at taking pictures, anyway got a good deal on it, in terms i can easily make a profit on it if i was to sell it on ebay. But it's a keeper, it's said only 200 were made, but it shows up a little too often for that so probably more like 2000. This is probably going to be one of the best picks up of the year for me, very happy with it, it looks like it's never been used until i tested it out :3 points

Games where you have to take care of your character's health
Heatman and one other reacted to kingpotato for a topic
Earlier today while playing Red Redemption I was feeding my character cause he was hungry, but at the same time I myself was starving cause I had only had a coffee and no breakfeast. 😆 Anyway there is a bunch of games where you have to constantly check your character's well being like making sure they are not cold or hot by having the appropiate clothing like in Red Dead Redemption 2 or Zelda Breath of the Wild or the survival moden in Skyrim and Fallout New vegas where you also have to be carefull with the weather and also making sure of feeding your character and making sure that they get some ingame sleep. Do you know of any other games like this?2 points -
Milestone Thread
killamch89 and one other reacted to The Blackangel for a topic
This place is addictive. Trust me, you're gonna post more than you realize. @killamch89 is just shy of 20k posts and he joined a month after I did. Whereas I'm just shy of 8k posts. So you're going to lose track easily. A lot of us post here after we reach a certain number of posts. Even @DC has done that. So any kind of milestone you want to post doesn't have to be forum related. If I remember right, I posted when I bought my dream car, as that was a personal milestone for me. I had dreamed about that car for 35 years, and last October I was finally able to make that a reality. So post whatever kind of milestone you're comfortable telling the forum about. If you're not sure if it would violate the rules, you can always refresh yourself.2 points -
Games where you have to take care of your character's health

Other than the games you just mentioned, the Sims also requires to monitor your character's health and needs. The Skyrim survival mods such as Frostfall do tend to feel quite overbearing in my opinion.2 points -
Games that you wished were on a PlayStation console.. but aren't?
killamch89 reacted to Oblivion Knight for a topic
Are there, or have there been any games that you wished were released on a PlayStation console, but for whatever reason aren't available? Just a few for me off the top of my head: Fable (Xbox exclusive, published by Microsoft) Gears of War (Xbox exclusive, published by Microsoft) Lost Odyssey (Xbox exclusive, published by Microsoft) Alan Wake would have also been on this list, was it not for the recent remaster.. Nice one Remedy! 👏1 point -
Don't really know what to call it so it will have to do for now. As title says and i won't deny it i like to collect and buy videogames, most forums i used to visit were collector based so they all had these sort of threads so here we go, post video game and video game related stuff you bought, pictures are a must imo so we know what you are talking about. Pretty much anything goes aslong it's somewhat related to video games. It would be cool if we could get a thread and conversation going about pick ups. As for myself i kind off went on a bargain hunting spree for current gen games the past week orso, some games i really wanted to play but diden't want to pay full price and a few i toke a chance on because they looked interesting. Grid legends is the only game i paid full price for. I'm normally more of a collector for the older stuff but you'll find that out pretty soon. I've got about 50 more games i picked up the past few weeks just waiting on a few more packages to post those.1 point

What Zelda Games Would You Like To See Ported To Switch?
killamch89 reacted to The Blackangel for a topic
I know that you can subscribe to Nintendo online and play the Zelda games from earlier systems, but forget that for a moment. What Zelda games would you like to see ported as either a cart or DDL for the Switch? Personally nostalgia is a huge factor for me, but there are several I would like to see. The Legend Of Zelda Zelda II Zelda A Link To The Past Zelda OoT Zelda Majoras Mask Zelda Twilight Princess Those top my list. The first 5 of them are games that I have just always loved. Twilight Princess is one that I would like to see because the controls for it on Wii were just completely fucked up. I hated the entire Wii setup. And at the height of the Wii's lifespan, finding one of the regular controllers was damn near impossible because no one wanted them, so in turn no one sold them. So if it can be ported wo something with a decent controller I would love to see that.1 point -
RIP Jimmy Wang Yu
Justin11 reacted to Knight Plug for a topic
If you're familiar with old school martial arts movies, you may know him from his role as a fighter who loses an arm, but still proves to be a tough cookie. His health wasn't great in recent years, having suffered two strokes. He never really made many public appearances. He passed today, which is also my mother's birthday. Happy birthday, mum! https://www.thestar.com.my/lifestyle/entertainment/2022/04/05/039one-armed-swordsman039-actor-jimmy-wang-yu-dies-at-801 point -

Do you think Nintendo will release PC games?
The Blackangel reacted to killamch89 for a topic
Yeah - Nintendo is way too popular to fail unless they do something like abuse their employees like Activision does. Even then, I think they'd get off much lighter because Nintendo still produces great games whereas Activision has been horrid for the past decade.1 point -
How much attention do you pay to gaming conventions and events?

I've been to E3 once and it wasn't so bad but I agree with you about the ventilation and personal hygiene factor. It's amazing that you have to tell grown adults to shower before coming to a convention.1 point -
Games where you have to take care of your character's health
kingpotato reacted to The Blackangel for a topic
I tend to worry about my horse's health more than my own in RDR2. I do go hunting a bit to get myself some meat to cook. 5 gators nets me 25 pieces of meat to cook, which is a good start to get Arthur back up to a healthy weight. He is the hardest damn character I've ever seen to keep his weight up. He is always underweight.1 point -

I have somewhere around 50 rats. If I can find the vast majority of them good and happy homes, I would love to. The problem is that I would have to know the people to make sure they aren't going to be murdered as snake food. I know "murdered" isn't the right word in your eyes, but it is in mine. And you all know why.1 point -
How much attention do you pay to gaming conventions and events?
Withywarlock reacted to Justin11 for a topic
That's how it should be, their is no need rushing, even if their is hype, go at the proper time. Their is no time that one wouldn't catch-up with this gaming conventions in the future. I love doing things at the convenient time, and not something making me to rush.1 point -
Games where you have to take care of your character's health
kingpotato reacted to Withywarlock for a topic
I can't think of many games besides those already mentioned, but it's quite common in the Infinity Engine games (Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale) to hear your characters say they need to rest, which incurs exhaustion penalties. This question's rather open ended because it's really just asking for games with survival elements, of which there are many. Now how many are more than just watching bars deplete is another matter entirely.1 point -

there's a toggleable option in ETS 2 too where you have to sleep or you'll start sleeping for couple of seconds in the road with the screen going black for around 2-3 seconds making you crash the game1 point -
It depends a bit on the game, to be honest. For example, with Rockstar games like GTA and Red Dead Redemption, I like to explore the whole world as quickly as possible so the moment they give me some freedom, I try to go through the whole map. But with Horizon Zero Dawn, I've just been following the story and sticking to the area it wants me to stay in.1 point

What is your least favourite thing about your favourite game?
Family sedan reacted to Yaramaki for a topic
I've noticed this to be a trend in racing games and especially forza horizon it's noticeable, there are cars that cost 15 million credits, you can never gather that much credits even by winning all the races. You can either win some trough a wheelspin if you're lucky or you have to grind countless hours. I get a ferrari 250 gto or a mclaren f1 just to name a few are amongst the rarest cars in the world, but they shoulden't be unobtainable in a video game.1 point -
There are folks who just browse and they buy PC as in those chromebooks, netPC type models. wallmart had a lot of such ePC models if you remember. PC with some power and laptop with some build power is different story.1 point

Last Game Played
kingpotato reacted to Reality vs Adventure for a topic
Been playing Red Dead Redemption 1 all weekend and I’m growing quite fond of the game. I don’t know why I haven’t given the game it’s proper respect, but I think I got caught up in hype and now I’m playing it just as fun with focus on story. And it’s strange because I lived out west surrounded by desert and mountains and didn’t really sink in the scenery and how nostalgic I am with that environment. Game really needs a remaster. Anyways, I’m enjoying it.1 point -

Violent Games and Teen Aggression Aren’t Linked?
Crazycrab reacted to Reality vs Adventure for a topic
I read both those links. The survey comes right out to say gaming makes kids aggressive but mentioned almost nothing on aggression and only talks about gaming addiction. This is what the survey says on aggression: "Parents of teens who play games are generally neutral on the effect of games on their children, with nearly two-thirds believing that games have no impact one way or the other on their offspring." "62 per cent of parents say that video games have no effect on their child one way or the other. 19 per cent of parents say that video games have a positive influence on their child. 13 per cent of parents say video games have a negative influence on their child." So that survey is redundant. The study in your first link starts off saying this: "Kids exposed to violent video games are more likely to pull the trigger in real life situations, as compared to those who do not indulge in such gaming habits, researchers have warned." There were 3 groups (gaming with guns, gaming with swords, and gaming with non violence). The kids gamed for 20 minutes and then went to a room to play with toys. 2 disabled handguns were left there for the study and the kids found them and 'touched a gun.' How did they get from touching a gun to "most likely to pull the trigger in real life situations" when they are in a fucking toy room? How does that resemble real life situations? WTF? And the ones who touched a gun did it out of familiarization or curiosity. That's not aggression. And the ones who played the game without violence and who also touched a gun, are they considered aggressive too because of gaming? Sorry but I declare bullshit1 point -
I have read news where a kid was reported to kill his mother and sisters in a hope to emulate the game setting, and also about kids who attacked their parents because they did not allow them to play games. However, I could not find the links. I will share here once I find those articles.1 point

Violent Games and Teen Aggression Aren’t Linked?
Lamarr the strelok reacted to Shagger for a topic
I don't understand why any gamer with even a slither of common sense would buy this nonsense. Quite frankly @skyfire, @Head_Hunter and others who actually believe this should be ashamed. No only has science spent, or perhaps wasted, many decades and even more $millions on trying to link violent behaviour and video games together only to fail time and time again, you can't even see what the real purpose these bullshit claims are suppose to serve. It's scapegoating. Counting of people's stupidity to deny real problems they don't want to address. For example, this is a particularly popular scapegoat in America because politicians over thier don't want to believe that the high rate of homicide and violence have anything to do with the fact that anyone can get thier hands on a gun. They know it would political suicide to open up that can of worms, so instead they blame not just video games, but entertainment media and "the corrupted youth" that partake in it instead. They present these non-facts to the gullible, ignorant parts of society that want to led away from the problems because they don't want to believe the inconvenient truth either. Seriously what is wrong with those of you that actually believe this? As @Crazycrab pointed out, none of you present any proof, but just choose to believe this bullshit anyway? All you need is the ability to think for yourselves to see how ridiculous this is. Nobody on this forum is that stupid that they can at least do that.1 point -

Teen aggression has been around since the beginning of time. Video games has only been around 40 years. Plenty of people are aggressive who don't play games. What do they blame for those people's aggression? Why should a gamer be treated differently and overlook other things?1 point -

Sony vs. Microsoft
killamch89 reacted to Yaramaki for a topic
Both have their good and bad sides, sony has always been master in getting the maximum result out of their competiters mistakes, they won 2 generations that way. They already won with the ps4 before it even launched since microsoft fucked the launch of the xbox one so bad it hurts my eyes when i think about it. I've always been more of an xbox guy then a playstation fan, surely i like both but if i can play a game on xbox that's where i will play it. This has nothing to do with being a fanboy. The original xbox was the first console i bought on launch day with my own money i saved up for months ahead, had to go trough hell and back to get that money haha. Since It only felt the logic thing to do after the dreamcast died and there were so many sega exclusives on the og xbox it made sense for me to get it. Ever Since then i stuck around with xbox being my platform of choice. Does it really matter no because i end up buying both xbox and playstation consoles anyway1 point -

Do you think Nintendo will release PC games?
killamch89 reacted to The Blackangel for a topic
They said the same thing with the Virtual Boy. But they kept going after it. So any talk (from them or otherwise) about Nintendo possibly ditching consoles and only releasing games to other platforms, I call bullshit on. They're the most successful gaming company in the history of Video Gaming. They will never stop releasing both consoles and games. Anyone who says otherwise is a fool, including those AT Nintendo.1 point -

Well I ended up getting the Switch OLED and I must say I am impressed. It looks much better than I thought. For some reason I wasn't impressed when I tried it at Gamestop. But I have Darksiders Genesis and Ori. Both look good on the handheld and on the tv. I also got the Genesis and N64 expansion pack. I ordered the Psyikio Schmup Collectors Edition and am looking forward to the shooters. I'm happy that I got it. I can't get the PS5 for a while, so I'm having plenty of fun with this.1 point -
Ever get bored with your controller?
Justin11 reacted to The Blackangel for a topic
When I buy a controller it comes from the company that put out the system. I don't buy knockoffs. I've never had the slightest bit of luck with them. They don't last and don't even work half the time. So it's either a Nintendo, Sony PlayStation, or Microsoft Xbox manufactured controller, or none. I just don't trust knockoffs anymore.0 points -
