  3. Suprised nobody mentioned watch dogs 2 who probably makes to best use out it in any game mentioned so far well imho. You can hack somebody's phone and have them arrested or you can mark somebody as a traitor to a certain gang and they come and shoot at the person. Kinda funny that even without your direct involvement gangs sometimes go to war with eachother or the police. There is something satisfying that you set up policeman to a gang and they come and fight with the police, while you are behind a fence or on a rooftop being a spectator. One thing i had a police officer arrest another police officer and they started shooting at each other, then i swooped into the forbidden zone for that skill point and nobody saw a damn thing.

  4. I'm actually gonna give a shout out to our very own @StaceyPowers who wrote a good article on this subject for the VGR website and it's well worth a read. Find the article HERE.

  5. Once again, here we are with the same people dancing around in a loop to same points over and over again just to keep the post counts going up. I'm going to keep locking these until you guys learn that these threads are not your personal text chain. Regardless, this thread has run it's course and it's time for it to be locked. And @Boblee, I'm glad you find this and the harm this is doing to the VGR forum funny... ... but one way or another, this is gonna stop. And if you keep up this level of ignorance and disrespect, I'll come up with an answer that I'm sure you won't find funny at all.

  6. Alright, it's cool. I have been agitated for a while now, so I wouldn't like it to keep going on, this is getting swept away, so we can easily get back on topic as it's almost turning into what we have been trying to avoid.

  10. I'm still feeling sore for getting threatened over a reaction of haha on a post, over a reaction. Like are you kidding me? I believe as adult's, there are things you look over or past but that's not the case here. I will chip in my opinion on this when I feel a bit calm headed about the threat I got yesterday.

  11. To be fair, it's not like consoles are immune to breaking down. I'm on my third PS4. OK, if you genuinely believe you can build or buy a gaming PC with the same performance of PS5 within the budget of a PS5 and basic laptop, prove it. I'll even double the retail of a PS5 to make it $1000 because I'm feeling generous. To set the parameters for this, we need to find a multiplatform game and know how it runs on a PS5. My first thought was AC Valhalla, but it turns out that game's performance on PS5 is rather complicated with dynamic resolutions. So I 'll go for Godfall instead, that runs at 60pfs at 4K on PS5. According to my research, the graphic quality isn't quite the equivalent of Ultra High on PC, so lets go for medium to high settings as the equivalent (source). According to this article from RealSport101.com, the dev's of Godfall have stated that to run Godfall at 4K 60fps, you need a graphics card with at least 12GB of VRAM. Because your trying to build a PC that's the equivalent of what you get with a PS5 out the box, there will be a few rules; A mouse and Keyboard must be included. That is the user interface and it every bit as vital as any component. Because a A PS5 is shipped with a Dualsence controller (That serves as the user interface for a PS5) as part of the package, this is totally fair. At least 850GB of high speed SSD storage, like a PS5. 16GB of RAM as per the recommended specs, and will be necessary for 4K. You can omit a UHD Blu-ray drive from the build if you want, but will reduce your budget by $100 as you will be building something that's equivalent to a PS5 without the disk tray. An operating system. Again, it is vital and a PS5 is shipped with one, so that's fair. I've found you a Bottleneck Calculator to help you match a suitable CPU and you will compile your list using PC Part Picker. I found this totally decent Lenovo Laptop on Laptops Direct to serve as the utility computer next to the console that in $US would work out at $200. That gives you a total budget $1200 with a disk tray or £1100 without a disk tray. Good luck!

  12. @Shagger I apologize if my comment came out in a wrong way, but you have to acknowledge my concern, as soon as you mentioned the possibility of post being deleted as a punishment to those who make spam posts or "low quality" post it made me worry, like you said we are human sometimes we will agree or disagree with our actions or comments, like for example what If I made a simple post and you or anothe mod deemed it as a low quality post ? This is all gray area so thats what I wanted reassurance that if a rule like that was implemented there was at least some type of process behind it. I still think that deleting posts might not be the solution, or any other type of punishment for that matter. But again dont get me wrong I dont want to defend these people, in fact I usually spend most of my days here arguing in some way on another with them and I know they dont like me. But at the same time I want the forum to grow and if possible retain those members, and I support you we need to do something about this asap, Im just concern about the approach. I already said it but Im afraid that if we start threatening members with deleting post it might turn them away. We should also focus on retaining members, the forum is already small as it is, If we dont learn how shift the direction of their spamming behavior this is just going to keep happening again with new members. I was thinking about this a lot during the weekend and I just realized that the first page that we see when we enter the forum is the Latest replies, I dont know a lot about web programming so I dont know how much of a hassle this will be but what if instead the first page becomes the latest topics that are posted not the ones that are replied to. I know this can be currently done on the settings but not a lot of people bother with that so that might be the problem, if by default we see on the page the latest topics posted and hide the replies maybe we can work around this issue, I dont know Im just thinking out loud. @Crazycrab Sorry man I have to disagree on this one as well, I dont like the idea of a limit or a timer on the amount of posts. Im also tired of scrolling through hundreds of replies (something that Im doing right now actually) but I dont think thats a good a idea. @Shagger @The Blackangel Thank you both for you reassurance

  14. I'm going to lock this thread and only because @Boblee, you are doing this all wrong. If you feel you have been treated unfairly, then this is NOT the way go about it. You don't "call out" a mod' openly on the public forum, you make a direct complaint to the site admin, that is how it's supposed to be done. Everybody has the right to that I will fully comply with any investigation and/or action @DC feels is necessary. I am here in service to the forum, but that does mean that sometimes I am gonna do or say something without the aim of winning a popularity contest and people will not like it. That's the sacrifice I make, the price I pay, that I can't really be fiends with anyone on this forum. But before I lock this thread, I'm going to make few things clear. First @Boblee, these trends of posting anything just to post something, posting for points, a topic going round in circles with same people posting the same points over and over and posting on a thread between a small group using a thread like it's text chain is hurting the forum. That is what you clearly don't take seriously. And if you had bothered to check the thread I linked to you all to (here it is again), you would know why. I have been engaging with serval people over this issue and that has been a frustrating effort. Just like you have shown here, @Boblee, there has been more passion and diligence form these people in thier defence of thier actions than I ever see them put into the forum itself. If you and others cared even half as much about what you post as you did about "calling out" my actions in response, I guarantee we would not be in this situation. I called out on your attitude because you seemed to find this amusing when it defiantly is not. That attitude along with this thread you created is all the proof I need that only thing you will respond to is force. At least you seem to be taking this seriously now, so I'm actually gonna call this a step in right direction. At @egghead, I actually do feel like I owe you an apology. I did have a look through your post history and I'm ready omit you of any alleged wrongdoing. However, you have to understand how that looked and how serious it potentially could have been. For me though, that's the end of the matter. Just doing my job. Any further discussion on this can keep going on thread I linked earlier.

  15. In terms of gaming it doesn't make a lot of difference since gaming performance is much more GPU dependent, but as of right now Intel is marginally beating AMD: Both chips around £255 Intel Core i5 12600K vs AMD Ryzen 7 5700G Both chips around £340 Intel Core i7 12700K vs AMD Ryzen 9 5900X It has to be said it is AMD we have to thank for this. It was the release of the first generation Ryzen's that finally gave Intel their long overdue kick up the arse. Before Ryzen you would have to pay nearly $1000 if you wanted anything above a quad core from Intel since they pretty much had a monopoly on the market.

  17. This one really stretches it if you ask me. The test was that they allowed 3 sets of children to play 3 different versions of Minecraft, one with guns and monsters, one with swords and monsters and one with no guns, swords or monsters and then put the children in a room full of toys. Among the toys was a realistic looking gun and (big surprise) the kids that played with the gun in Minecraft tended to be drawn to the gun in real life. If you ask me, it seems pretty obvious that after playing a game and having fun they would be drawn to something that relates to that experience, it doesn't mean that they are more violent. The article itself even admits: Yeah, this is not real life! Also in it's conclusion it states: Frankly, if need research like this to tell you that then you shouldn't be breathing, let alone breeding. There are a lot of problems with this so let me break it down. I want to state first this is a survey, not an experiment. The the "results" are based purely on what the subjects already believe. Secondly, despite it's title "Too much gaming makes kids aggressive, violent: Survey" as @Reality vs Adventure pointed out it barely talks about violence. The subject mostly under discussion is video game addiction which, I will state for the record, I do consider to be a legitimate problem. Video games should be enjoyed in moderation and should not be played to the excess that they are controlling one's life and/or effecting your health. This is one of only two part's that are relevant to this topic (I'll get to the other a little later): This is purely speculative, I could believe that children could experience desensitisation to violence when playing violent games in the same people tend to get desensitised to violence by watching violent films. But I've seen plenty of other research that shows that it doesn't make them more violent people. The last thing comes back to that clickbait title again. It is literally by the results presented by it's own survey.... A LIE! Check this out from the article! By their own fucking results 81% of the survey subjects believe that video games have no negative effect on their children. More said that video game have positive effect rather than a negative one! So where the hell is this asshat even drawing that bullshit conclusion earlier! Nice job @egghead, you literally just charged down to the other end of the field and kicked an own goal! Thank you!

  18. For posts that doesn't make sense or add any value, I do agree that it's not something good for the forum. But in light of @Bobleecomplain that led to making this post, I think he's in the right being that you can't assume to know the real reason behind one's reaction to a post. For him to be threatened cos of a reaction is way out of the line as far as I'm concerned. This is my opinion on this.

    PC or PS5? Or both?

Where is the third and fourth option? Switch and xbox series x? Pc gaming i'm not really interested in, i like my games physical and the comfort of a console is all i need. You know I always find it funny that pc gamers always have to bring up the specs of what they have and let's not forget the price of what their pc costs all the time. It's like who has the biggest d*ck contest, it ain't gonna win you any ladies fellas. Now the ps5 after the stunt sony pulled with gran turismo 7, i don't know man (nevermind my language) they can stick their ps5 consoles straight up their ass. I'm not really interested in it at this time, maybe i'll get one in a few years time but right now hell no. I've had a pre order for october but i'll mostlikely end up going to give it to a friend. Did you just make that up or what, why would the price of a ps5 go down to 400$ when there is no stock avaible everywhere. You don't need to be a scientist to figure out that aslong there is no excessive stock of a product it won't go down in price.

  22. I abhor vibration most times, but I like it when it's very slight on a trigger pull of a firearm, though I do like the slight rumble of controls in Mario Kart 8: Deluxe on the Switch. I had hoped third parties would make equally good use of the haptic feedback and vibration as such, but alas, they never really did. It was a fine novelty back when it was first around; the Playstation One did no small amount of marketing in game case's artwork or on the back of manuals. The way it worked was that when you were near an item you could interact with (rubble, a shoe, a smoking gun), the controller would vibrate slightly, in case for whatever reason you missed the audible chime. I think it came off as more natural, like it was an instinct, almost.

First off, surveys are opinions.Don't rely on surveys if you want facts. Also the links supplied are tabloid headlines trying to scare people. This is an example of shit news being taken seriously.I've been on gaming websites for years and never heard of a kid attacking their parents because they wouldn't allow them to play games. Never. As noted the gun industry and some hack politicians like to blame violence on video games.Or rap.Or heavy metal.Living in tabloid world may be fun but not everyone believes the bullshit in the real world.Look to the un biased studies that have taken place over many years.

    Tablets

Just wait a year or two and it'll be 1/3 of the price. Android tablets lose their market value extremely quickly due to the fact that some of the major productivity apps don't run particularly well on Android tablets. I mean, they're pretty fun to use for emulation and other stuff such as playing games but for more serious professionals, Ipad is the way to go (hate saying this but its the truth).

  39. The last thing we want to do is start deleting posts. And we would never do it just because we "don't like" what the poster says. This forum is about facts and opinions. While we moderate the forum, we have neither the right nor the privilege to moderate anyone's opinions. If we start going that route we will end up with a fascist forum ruled with an iron fist. Within a week, there will be no more members here. I don't want to see that, as I'm sure no one else does. We're about the free exchange of ideas. If however we do delete a post, it's because it was in direct defiance of the rules. Or it was overly offensive, or damaging. For example, if someone came here spreading misinformation and conspiracy theories about Covid, we would be on that like a pack of dogs on a 3 legged cat. I'm sure the rest of the forum would too. That person may be instantly banned, if @DC deems it necessary, or be suspended with a heavy warning. We don't want to take any kind of drastic measures like that, but if we have no other choice, we will do it. Also we don't delete posts without a PM to the poster letting them know and telling them why we deleted their post. @Shagger has deleted several of my posts in the past, and he always sent me a PM letting me know and telling me why. I'm not sure how I feel about timers or time limits. It seems like moderation beyond the scope to me. What we want, is for people to think before they post. Reply to the discussion if you feel you can make a meaningful contribution, or maybe don't reply until you feel you can. If I don't think a conversation is at some kind of point that I could contribute to the discussion, I leave it be. If it reaches a point that I feel I could offer something of some value, no matter how small, I'll offer it. For me personally, the vast majority of posts here are things that I can't offer anything that holds any value to the discussion. So I don't bother replying. We only want what's best for this forum. We're not the emperors of this forum. We're just moderators. We're going to fuck up at times. We're going to make bad calls. But we're human, and humans make mistakes. Well, @Shagger is human. I'm a vampire.

  40. I've had a pretty fucked up situation like that as well with dreams. One in particular. This started when I was 14. It happens on June 20th every single year. The dream starts out with me looking down a street that turns to my right. Judging by the clothing and building design, it looks like everything is somewhere around the 1700's. After a few seconds, I see a young boy come running around the corner. Through the rest of the dream I'm looking through his eyes. I look over my shoulder and 3 men on horseback in red coats come riding up after me. I start running harder and duck into a cemetery and hide behind one of the tombstones. I'm sitting there catching my breath and listening to them call back and forth to each other trying to find me. Then one rides up and sees me. He yells to his friends that he found me. He dismounts his horse, steps in front of me, draws his pistol, cocks it... And then I wake up. I've tried staying up to avoid the dream, but at 2:30AM I go unconscious and fall asleep for exactly 1 hour. I can't avoid the dream no matter how much I try. I hate it. It always freaks me out. I've tried a million different things to make me stop having the dream but nothing works. Absolutely everything I can think of to stay awake, and none of it helps. I could be standing up drinking coffee with a bunch of No Doze in it, and as soon as it turned 2:30, I would collapse where I stood and have the dream. I know because I tried. So I've given up trying to find ways to avoid it, and decided to just suffer through it every year. It's the only time of the year that I dream.

  41. Alright let's go the 3ds i must say i had a hard time knocking it down to 10 games, especially since the line up of the 3ds is so divers. If you weed out all the shovelware garbage, you may have one of the best libraries of any handheld. Figured i'd include a picture because why the hell not. I'll just put em in random order, i'd must say it's been quite a while since i've played my 3ds so excuse me if i can't go into detail : Ridge Racer 3D -> This was a launch game and the one i picked up alongside pilotwings when i got my first 3ds a few weeks after launch. The reason i'm including it is because at the time it made the best use of the 3d effect and that was quite impressing. Not only that but it's imo the best racing game on the 3ds and will keep occupied for many hours. I'd even say it's best racing game on any portable system. Dead Or Alive Dimensions -> While this up for debate, This is the best fighter on the 3ds. Infact i'd call it my favourite dead or alive game, A good amount of fighters and a whole story that takes atleast 15 hours to play trough. I'm not 100% sure but the story covers the first 4 games if i'm correct. All in all what i like most about doa is that it's easy to pick up and play, i don't have the time to put hundreds of hours into a fighter to become good anymore. Anyways there is plenty to unlock that will keep your busy for quite a while. Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney -> I don't think this got ported elsewhere yet, yeah what do you get when you combine the puzzles from the professor layton series with the more visual novel style gameplay from phoenix wright, yep this game. It seemlessly combines the gameplay from both series and blends the best of both worlds into one game. If you're either a fan of the series try it out. Super Mario 3D Land -> probably had the best 3d effect of any game on the 3ds. It's 3d mario in 3D, not much more i can add. Hell lot of fun tough. New Super Mario Bros 2 -> Again this may also up for debate but if somebody would ask me what is your favourite 2d platformer i'm going to say Sonic. If somebody would ask me what is the best 2d platformer i'm going to say New super mario bros 2. Albeit a bit on the easy side, grinding towards a million coins has never been so much fun and satisfying. Zelda : A link between worlds -> spiritual successor to a link to the the past, kinda looks similair to it aswell. Man what more do you want me to say without spoiling anything go f***ing play it, it's a classic. Doubt this will get ported to any system soon so what are you waiting for, go online and buy it before it prices goes trough the roof. Story of Seasons Trio of Towns -> Well if you like farming games and life simulation games this is the one to get imo. I had to include atleast one of these games in my top 10 so let it be this one. Not much else to add other then that the 3ds is the perfect platform for these kinda games. Be sure to have a lot of free time tough. Epic Mickey Power of Ilusion -> Castle of Illusion is one of my favourite sega games of all time, this is a tribute to it but dare i say it's even better. Old school 2D platforming goodness at it's finest. The mean reason i'm including it, it makes the best use of the stylus in any game i have played on the 3ds. While you're at it go check out the first epic mickey on the wii because that's a classis too. Hometown Story -> This is a spin off of the harvest moon games, instead of a farm you run a shop. Instead of taking care of animals and whatnot, you go on a adventure, well to put it shortly because since you must be bored by now. It's a hyrbid between a life sim/management sim/rpg, what kept me really going that the town grows bigger once you progress trough the game. You can also get married and whatnot. The side characters are interesting in their own right. Too bad whenever i bring this game up, nobody played it or has even heard of it, well you get a second chance. Fantasy Life -> Hands down the best game on the 3ds, by far the game i put most hours on the system. I'm going to keep it short and hopefully you'll take my word for granted. If you have any slight interest in a jrpg or life sim, you need to play this game. Be prepared to kiss your social life goodbye and if you have a partner better tell them to you won't be having time for anything else in the next few months orso. And there you have it my top 10 3ds games. Apologies for the no doubt many grammar mistakes. I've always wanted to say this atleast once in my life but be sure to like and subscribe and why not comment down below. Peace!

  42. I know it's not directed towards me, but if you don't mind i'll join in and say my favourites are since i have played em all : Ac 4 Black Flag -> While a departure from the original ac formula, the ship combat added another dimension and has probably the best main character after Ezio in any game. The world was a joy to explore and the story was great overall. Even the present story made sense since you were inflirtrating abstergo i'm not 100% sure but that part ended with a cliffhanger. I think with the ship combat as a main thing ubisoft could easily make a new ip out of it, i know they announced skulls and bones a few years back but we haven't seen anything or heard anything from it in years. Ac 3 Brotherhood -> That game pretty much perfected what made ac 2 so good, Rome is a joy to explore, the story is great. Ezio to this day is still the best main character in any ac game. The music was also pretty much spot on, only thing i could say negative wise the combat is way too easy, since you can pretty much just counter and attack and you never die really. They also added another dimensions that you can recruit you're own assasins and train them, altough the game becomes even more easier that way. Ac Oddysey -> I'm going to put this one above Origins and Valhalla, because it's the game i enjoyed the most out of the three. It had the best setting of the 3 and the best main character as far as i'm concerned, i played as kassandra and liked her much better then eivor and bayek. The world is a joy to explore and the side quests and dlc were actually fairly good something that cannot be said about valhalla, the mercenary's also added quite a challenge especially early game when you meet some that are 20 levels higher then you, so you have to hide or run at at any costs. The game isen't perfect but with dlc combined i'd put 200+ hours into. And as a bonest i'll include a 4th : Ac Unity -> Yep i should get my head checked, probably the most hated game in the series but that's because most people who slam this game never played it and just take whatever the internet says for granted. I played this a year after launch and if i'm being honest i diden't encounter any bugs at all, This was in my oppinion one of the first true games that did the ps4/xbox one honour, not only does it still look amazing to this day, Paris is beautiful especially by night, you have these crowded areas that we haden't seen in any game at all at the time. The game also encouraged stealth and offered different options to kill your character that was quite new at the time, something they dropped all together in recent games, where you can just murder 30+ people and still be alive doesen't really make sense. I think the story is also one of the better in ac games. The co-up i felt like that was forced on for the sake off it, so i never bothered with that would be my only complaint. In the state the game is now i highly recommend you give this game a change (or a second one) you'll be suprised how good it is.

  43. The best 3DS game, in my opinion is : Professor Layton and the azran legacy!Graphically, it's one of, if not The best looking game on 3DS. The graphics are great, the story is maginficent, the puzzles are fun! Way better than the professor Layton 3DS game that came out in 2018. Because of it's great puzzles, great story, and beautiful graphics, this is what i believe to be the best game on 3DS.

  44. I have to agree - E3 has been pretty dull for the past 5 years but the pandemic helped accelerate E3's demise. I used to tune in to watch E3 back in the days but I lost interest in it since 2016.

  45. I read both those links. The survey comes right out to say gaming makes kids aggressive but mentioned almost nothing on aggression and only talks about gaming addiction. This is what the survey says on aggression: "Parents of teens who play games are generally neutral on the effect of games on their children, with nearly two-thirds believing that games have no impact one way or the other on their offspring." "62 per cent of parents say that video games have no effect on their child one way or the other. 19 per cent of parents say that video games have a positive influence on their child. 13 per cent of parents say video games have a negative influence on their child." So that survey is redundant. The study in your first link starts off saying this: "Kids exposed to violent video games are more likely to pull the trigger in real life situations, as compared to those who do not indulge in such gaming habits, researchers have warned." There were 3 groups (gaming with guns, gaming with swords, and gaming with non violence). The kids gamed for 20 minutes and then went to a room to play with toys. 2 disabled handguns were left there for the study and the kids found them and 'touched a gun.' How did they get from touching a gun to "most likely to pull the trigger in real life situations" when they are in a fucking toy room? How does that resemble real life situations? WTF? And the ones who touched a gun did it out of familiarization or curiosity. That's not aggression. And the ones who played the game without violence and who also touched a gun, are they considered aggressive too because of gaming? Sorry but I declare bullshit

  47. Whenever I experience a bug or glitch on a game that I am playing and couldn't work my way around it, I simply wait for a patch (update) and try again later. This is because trying to find a way around it could be frustrating as well.
