Good bad games
Head_Hunter and one other reacted to Yaramaki for a topic
I've been meaning to reply to this thread, since i played a ton of games to fall under this category. Since each entry is going to take me quite a while i'll just do one game at a time, whenever i have some spare time. I'll just start with one of the first games that came to my mind : WorldNeverland- Elnea Kingdom (Nintendo Switch 2018) Alright where do i even start with this game, it's a bit after 6pm on a sunny friday evening, got nothing planned so let me grab a beer as i am typing this. Wtf is this shit i hear you saying, well World neverland is a long running series of life simulation games with farming/rpg elements that up until 2018 never saw life outside of japan. If you read any of my posts, you gotta know by now that i really like my japanese stuff and offcourse life simulation games aka games you play for way too long for your own good. I'm just going to talk about the game above since it's the only one in english and while they are on my to buy list i've only fucked around a bit with one game on the dreamcast. I'm pretty sure this came out on mobile as a free to play game, i'm not sure how that version is so i'm going to stick with the 29,99 switch version well on the eshop it is that price. If you want it physical no doubt going to cost more but is it worth it. Man already this much text and i haven't gotten around to the game itself yet. I'll admit the game looks like shit, think maybe a ds game, gameplay wise their isen't much going on, you press a button to do an action and that's it. However let that not fool you because there is a lot to like here, you start out as a traveller and your goal is to become a citizen of the kingdom. The game holds your hand here for now so you know what you are doing since it plays out pretty much as tutorial you can't possible fail. Making friends is quite easy just by talking to them a few times they are your friends, you can even have best friends and offcourse you can get married with i'd suggest a character of your age, you age 3 times as fast a we are. After you become a permanent citizen you can pretty much become what you want, altough it's take a damn long time. Like i started out as farmer and had the possibilty to become head of the farmers since i had the highest score of any of the farmers for that year, instead i choose to become a guardsmen and set my goal towards becoming head of the imperial knights, a year later my wife also become an imperial knight which i tought was a cool thing. By this time i was maxed out in pretty much anything and wasted about 150 hours of my life and since i had 3 kids, i decided to take over as my son, the cool thing here is that all your belongings are passed over to your kid and while it's funny you pretty much have a kid that can one hit kill anything in most dungeons. I tought it was cool to see that my original character did his own thing after that, i never got around seeing him die because you know i wasted enough time already. There are several jobs you can do like become member of the mountain corps, become a priest, hell you can even become king or queen how many hours that would take that i don't know guess i won't find out until i try but the question is should i. All in all i've put about 220 hours into World neverland, there is a lot that games like story of seasons should take note off, your character dies of old age, you can play as your kids, become whoever you want, pretty much building your own dynasty and let's face this offers a potential of unlimited gameplay. i'm out now let's go grab another beer and if you make it this far thank you for reading and enjoy the weekend. Man i'm 4 days off work, even tough i shoulden't dare i gave world neverland another go in the upcoming days. if you're interested i'll just post the switch trailer :2 points -
Good bad games

There are lots of bad games out there that are simply terrible and not worth anyone's time. But occasionally there are some that are objectively bad or even broken in some sense, but still enjoyable. Have you encountered any such game? I've seen several of these over the years that I've had fun with. The oldest I can remember was Car & Driver all the way from 1992, which was a game published by EA long before The Need For Speed, and actually used the exact same formula, it was just based on a different car magazine, Car & Driver obviously. (The first NFS was made in collaboration with Road & Track). I loved how the game menus were made like pages of a magazine, it gave a lot to immersion. But unfortunately the physics of the game was some of the wonkiest I've seen, it was utterly terrible. Another fun fact, this was one of the first games I played that supported SVGA resolution (640x480). The next one that stands out for me is another Racing game, but one released 10 years later: Street Legal Racing. This game was meant to be great, but it was published by a budget publisher, and the developers bit much more than they could chew. They wanted to make a game much more complex than what fit in the publisher's timeline and budget. So the game released unfinished, broken and buggy. What has set it apart was the extremely detailed simulation, the game actually simulated the fluids in the car like coolant, fuel, etc. And it had a damage model that beat everything that came before or after until BeamNG claimed that throne. It also had extensive car upgrade and tuning system. The game become a cult classic and still has a very active community with lots of mods available. Most of the games kinks and bugs were fixed in several patches and a re-release, and the developers kept supporting the game long after the publisher bailed. But of course it never achieved mainstream success, and the developers gave up on trying to do complex games soon after. The company is still around actually but only makes mobile trash since 2009, the original devs on the ground long since left the company. Fun fact: One of the devs turned up in the credits of Driver San Francisco, last I saw. I've had countless hours of fun crashing and harassing traffic in the game, and trying to build the fastest cars. Splinter Cell Double Agent This game was probably the most broken AAA game I had ever played, but it had some such unique mechanics and novel ideas that I enjoyed it despite of it being a buggy piece of trash. Since I wrote a full review on the game way back when I'll link that instead of going into more detail here: http://madblog.shacknet.us/splinter-cell-double-agent-2006/ The last game for now is Alpha Protocol: The greatest bad game ever made! This is another game I wrote a full article on so click for details: http://madblog.shacknet.us/alpha-protocol-2010/1 point -
Which is the most awaited Games in 2022?

I have to disagree with you there. The fact that they haven't announced an exact release date means their doing the right thing as far as I'm concerned. The trap that so many other publishers/developers let themselves fall into these days is announcing the release date of their games to early. That's exactly what CD Project Red did with Cyberpunk 2077 and we all remember how that turned out. They should wait to announce a date until they are confident beyond reasonable doubt that they will deliver. So even if Santa Monica Studios wait until just a couple of months before release to make the announcement I am 100% on board with that.1 point -
Top 5 favourite JRPGs?
kingpotato reacted to Yaramaki for a topic
Pretty sure dragon's dogma was made in japan since the director was behind the orignal devil may cry game and many classic capcom fighters. It still has the somewhat japanese style especially the characters imo, i think the most unique system the game offers is that up to two of your companions can be downloaded from other players, like you could have my main character as a companion in your game well should you wish to do so, i tought that was a cool feature for the time. DD also had bosses that you could climb similair to shadown of the colossus, their was something satisfying climbing a giant snake with several heads and cutting them off one by one. Other then that it's quite good from what i remember, the combat is more on the hack and slash side which i like, can't comment on the other classes since i always end playing as a warrior/fighter type class in rpg's. i'm sorry i can't add more as it's been like what 10 years since i played it, i also remember that it originally came with a resident evil 6 demo download code, no doubt to sell more units not that it needed it offcourse as it was by far the better game. Despite owning it i never got around to playing the remastered dark arisen version version, so i suppose that would be the version to get. On a sidenote i'm still on the hunt for a japanese 360 collectors edition that came with a dragon statue. I either forget about the auction or the asking price is way too much ahwell fucking first world problems man it never ends.1 point -

Ford Racing 2. You'll never reach the time trial times no matter how smoothly you drive, but you get to see some legendary American cars as they would have appeared as new cars, so it's worth it. By the way, I am still a Chevy fan, I just sometimes like Ford games.1 point -
You are 100% correct. It is impossible to stop people form going off topic in discussions. It can't be done. Whether that individual is doing it on purpose to "post farm" as @Patrik described it, or because they didn't care enough actually ask themselves the question, "Is what I'm about to post worth posting?". Or, indeed, whatever it was that compelled @Justin11 to think that trying to divert a conversation on a thread about "Driver" from a relatable post about "Watchdogs" to Moto GP for... some reason. And yes, @Boblee, I did see your reply on that thread. And no, the answer is not restrictions, that's a last resort that nobody wants, at least partially because that doesn't even hit at the heart of the problem. Me, @kingpotato, and others have said it several times. The answer if for the people who do this, whether they know they are doing it or not, to stop. Stop, and think about what they post. I'm not going to repeat myself, so this is what I said earlier in this very thread. It isn't difficult. All everyone has to understand is that this is a forum and what that means. There is only so many more times I can say it and I have literally run out of ways too say it. The message is out there, posted by myself and others, on the forum and even through PM's for some people. Just stop, and then think about what it is you are about to post is worth. I question the choice to post or not every time as part of the process of figuring out what to say. "Is this relevant?", "Do I need to post this?", "What will this post add?", "Does this answer anyone's question (including a question not directly asked)? "Does this ask a question worth asking?". If I keep getting no to these questions and then be faced with the choice to post nothing, or make a post anyway that may as well be nothing, I post nothing. As does anyone with respect for the forum. Most of these theses posts aren't even proof read in any way, riddled with spelling errors and typos, a true testament to how little the people that post them care about them. I know my spelling typing is atrocious, but at least I try. I have read read through this very post on no less than five occasions before deciding I was satisfied with it. That is all that is being asked, to think. Is that really so much?1 point

Do you like to use overpowered abilities/weapons, or do you avoid them?

I'm not sure if Combat Pillows is an indie game because all that I was able to get online on the game didn't hint anything on it being an indie game.1 point

I'm going to lock this thread and only because @Boblee, you are doing this all wrong. If you feel you have been treated unfairly, then this is NOT the way go about it. You don't "call out" a mod' openly on the public forum, you make a direct complaint to the site admin, that is how it's supposed to be done. Everybody has the right to that I will fully comply with any investigation and/or action @DC feels is necessary. I am here in service to the forum, but that does mean that sometimes I am gonna do or say something without the aim of winning a popularity contest and people will not like it. That's the sacrifice I make, the price I pay, that I can't really be fiends with anyone on this forum. But before I lock this thread, I'm going to make few things clear. First @Boblee, these trends of posting anything just to post something, posting for points, a topic going round in circles with same people posting the same points over and over and posting on a thread between a small group using a thread like it's text chain is hurting the forum. That is what you clearly don't take seriously. And if you had bothered to check the thread I linked to you all to (here it is again), you would know why. I have been engaging with serval people over this issue and that has been a frustrating effort. Just like you have shown here, @Boblee, there has been more passion and diligence form these people in thier defence of thier actions than I ever see them put into the forum itself. If you and others cared even half as much about what you post as you did about "calling out" my actions in response, I guarantee we would not be in this situation. I called out on your attitude because you seemed to find this amusing when it defiantly is not. That attitude along with this thread you created is all the proof I need that only thing you will respond to is force. At least you seem to be taking this seriously now, so I'm actually gonna call this a step in right direction. At @egghead, I actually do feel like I owe you an apology. I did have a look through your post history and I'm ready omit you of any alleged wrongdoing. However, you have to understand how that looked and how serious it potentially could have been. For me though, that's the end of the matter. Just doing my job. Any further discussion on this can keep going on thread I linked earlier.1 point

Combat Pillows is one funny old game and I really enjoyed playing it on PC then. I had to go get its trailer just to bring back old memories.1 point

Depending on the kind of game that I'm playing would determine if it's going to be one I would relax comfortably in my chair. For an intense and explosive shooting game, I'm sure standing up to play.1 point

We actually have another thread going on about that one. I did watch it as a kid, it's one of the better adaptations especially at the time. The 2021 film was a bit of a mess. It has the fact that it's R rated going for it and the guy that played Kano is a lot of fun, but the story is all over the place and this new character their pushing is such a fucking bore. It should have been better.1 point

There is a remastered version, or rather, as close to a remaster as you can get these days. Alas it's only on PS/Xbox, and Activision-Blizzard keep their cards close to their chest when it comes to stuff related to Crash and Spyro going anywhere else.1 point -

I played temple run well in 2013, since then, it is far away from me. I hate Candy crush, I never downloaded it before, and I wouldn't download it anytime.1 point
