Project: Close Combat
Shagger reacted to TheFjordFox for a topic
Hello there, good people! So, let me cut to the chase! I have recently taken upon myself a mission. Perhaps a calling even, some may say. Are we talking a noble pursuit for the betterment of mankind? ...No. Certainly not! If anything, quite the contrary! I have decided to fight my way through all the war that the Close Combat franchise has to offer! Well... All the war that the singleplayer grand campaigns have to offer, anyway. My goal is: Play through every single Close Combat game to ever exist. With both factions in the longest campaign the games offer up, on the hardest difficulty there is, making things even harder for myself than the developers originally intended for it to be, as we move along! I figured, instead of posting about each game separately... Why not have a project collection, where everything can be located as it comes out? And so here we are! I might even throw in some reviews of the games as time goes by, as I certainly am getting a good sense of what is what, and the differences between the various iterations as I progress through my personal mission! Now, I am a seasoned veteran of the franchise, and have been playing Close Combat games for, at the time of writing this, around two and a half decades. My first experience with the series was with the Close Combat 2: A Bridge Too Far demo. This was back before everyone had "the internet". Whatever that place was. However - a friend of mine, when I was in my early elementary school years, had gotten his hands on the demo from a CD in a gaming-magazine! He told me about it, and I through it sounded amazing. So we went to his place, and I was not wrong! Instantly hooked me right in like a true sucker! And here I am, 25 years later and still playing these dang games! I have for a while been considering playing through them all with both factions, and put the playthroughs out on youtube. And well, I finally got to it! Why the heck not, right!? It's somewhat of a niche game, and some of it's iterations barely have any LPs of them, so I enjoy the thought that one day, anyone will be able to come to my youtube channel and have all the games laid out for them to choose from in a let's play type format! With some reviews, when the time comes, and heck - even some of the better mods out there being played through as well! Why do I bother with this? Well. As you will surely figure out for yourself if you watch any substantial amount of these videos, it is simply because I am insane, and don't have my priorities in life straight! Close Combat. A love and hate relationship that has it's ups and downs. It has me jumping out of my seat screaming in joy at unsuspected victories. It also, on the other end of the spectrum, have me close to beating a hole through my screen at the utter unbelievability of it's BS at times! So... come along from the rides, and see the best and the worst sides of me as the journey goes! I will now list the four playthroughs I have already got out there below. In the future, more will be added. If there is a specific CC game you'd like to see next, that I haven't played already, I am certainly open for requests on that part. However, I am likely to finish the vanilla games before I dip into the glorious mods that are out there! You can suggest those too - it will just take a while until I get to them! Either way! I will list them like this; the aggressor in the campaign first, then the defender second. So for the Normandie landings - the Allies, then the Germans. For the invasion of Russia - The Germans, then the Russians. Alright! Here we go! Close Combat: Wacht Am Rhein (Axis Grand Campaign) Close Combat: Wacht Am Rhein (Allied Grand Campaign) Close Combat: The Longest Day (Allied Grand Campaign) Close Combat: The Longest Day (Axis Grand Campaign) Close Combat: Last Stand Arnhem (Allied Grand Campaign) Close Combat: Last Stand Arnhem (Allied Grand Campaign) Close Combat 3: Cross Of Iron (Axis Grand Campaign) Close Combat 3: Cross Of Iron (Allied Grand Campaign) That is the four iterations of the franchise I currently have available out there at the time of making this post. More is sure to follow soon, and I hope some of y'all will want to come along for the ride! If you got any questions, suggestions, hate or love, I am receptive to it all! Let me know what you think, wether you think I'm doing allright, or you think I need to make some changes to how I do things! For all I know, you might be right! Oh well! If you're still reading at this point, I would like to thank you for your attention, and I sincerely hope your time spent with this does not feel wasted! Y'all have a good one, folks! And may Cthulhu bless you! Cheers!1 point -

Gen 5 seems to be very popular nowadays. I remember several years back people relentlessly shit on it. Glad it's getting the appreciation it deserves.1 point -
Pokemon Nuzlocke
Heatman reacted to kingpotato for a topic
I will attempt my first pokemon Nuzlocke challenge with randomizer cheat code activated. I will follow the normal Nuzlocke rules which are: -Every Pokemon captured must be nicknamed. -When a Pokemon faints, it "dies" and therefore must either be released or put in a "grave" box, unable to be used ever again. -Only the first pokemon that shows up on any given route is catchable. I will try to do this on Pokemon Heart Gold and will see how it goes. Have you ever tried a Nuzlocke challenge before ?1 point -
Nearing 300 posts maybe i should do something "special" for my 300th posts.1 point

I think this generation of gaming will be much better than the last
Justin11 reacted to NightmareFarm for a topic
>microsoft and sony will not ditch their old consoles and release them exclusively on their new hardware They will once the shortage ends. Even now, there's still plenty of great games coming out which are much improved thanks to next gen hardware. 60fps is the norm again, loading times are very fast, haptic feedback/adaptive triggers also enhances the experience. I'm not trying to sound snobbish or anything but looking back when I had to wait full on MINUTES for some games to load a level(Devil May Cry 5, Final Fantasy XV, Jedi Fallen Order, etc) it seems so primitive in hindsight. Despite the lack of next gen exclusives, it still kind of feels like next gen because of all these improvements across the board. I could never picture a PS4 running a game like Rift Apart at 60fps with load screens being a couple seconds. But you have a point, devs need to start pumping out next gen games. Spider-Man 2 and Wolverine are almost certain going to be a next gen game and Kill The Justice League is as well which come out next year. E3 is coming up so we should see a lot more being revealed. >Games being shoved out the door unfinished Such as? >Also what more can they possible add to the games we have now other then better graphics and faster loading times 60fps on everything Haptic Feedback/Adaptive Triggers 3D Audio PS5 exclusives that will come out later PC/PS5 exclusives(like deathloop, ghostwire tokyo, etc) if you don't own a gaming PC. >Shit that annoys me the most are Lootboxes and microtransactions Lootboxes were far more prominent in 8th gen. Especially 2017 when Injustice 2 and Star Wars Battlefront 2 came out. I haven't seen it in any of it in the games i've played that came out recently. Microtransactions aren't an issue unless the devs intentionally take what should be in the base game and lock it to a microtransaction. Haven't really noticed that either. >gaming was always about creativity It still is. Ever played Ghostrunner? If you look beyond just the triple A games everyone talks about there's plenty of creativity. And it feels more creative already than 8th gen where there were so many soulslike games, open world game and cinematic walking games. There is more variety now than 8th gen.1 point -
How would you rank pokemon gens?

Pokemon games are classified into generations. Gen 1 being Pokemon red, blue, yellow. Gen 2 being gold, silver, crystal. Gen 3 being ruby, sapphire, emerald, fire red, leaf green, etc.1 point -
nah Hangar 13 is way different than War Drum Studio (newly known as Grove Street Games), it's sort of decent except it comes with weird decisions that kills games1 point

If Burly Men At Sea is something actually available on Switch, it's a game that I would like to get into in my next travel. I can play it on transit and complete it before getting to my destination.1 point

They already have so much to choose from. Do you have any idea how many skins are available on Fortnite? It's approximately 1290 as of March this year 2022 and they are still adding more.1 point -

I never get how this works. So, Brazil goes "Yo Apple, throw couple mil here, ya know, for for not having chargers". Apple goes "No, sue me.". And then what happens? Also, even if they do pay, where does this money go? I'm sure it's not buy chargers for people who bought IPhone 12s.1 point

With all due respect, you're wrong. A few voices can have more of an impact than a thousand voices. A community, especially online, is not measured by quantity, but by the connections that exist within it's members. When I talk to you, I try to be as clear as I can, but you still don't understand that posting as much as you can is not what being active and valued in this community means. Quantity over quality. It is not about posting as much as you can, it's about making posts that add value. Stop posting anything just to post something. How many more ways can I say it? If you are struggling with posting in English, that is all more reason for you to take you time. You of all people should not be making a post every couple of minutes. I literally could not do that, and English is my first language. If need you need help, please ask. But either way, post like you care about what you post and take your time.1 point

kingpotato reacted to Rain Dew for a topic
For me I think I hear @The Blackangel faintly calling me from the computer room. It happens quite a lot. Very annoying. Also when we were living in a different house from the one we currently live in, I could swear I would hear the tv on in the front room. I would get up and see and the tv would be completely off. Also sense @The Blackangel installed a security camera in the computer room each night it gets triggered by a single moth. There are no moths in the room but each time the camera is turned on at night it is there flying right in front of it.1 point -
For anyone wondering I’m on Crystal on Goblin server. Rain Dew is my character name and my FC is Morning Star.1 point

Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO "Expect More Aquisitions"
Head_Hunter reacted to Crazycrab for a topic
There has been a couple of smaller acquisitions since then. Like Haven Studios, who have worked on some big AAA games as an outsourced contractor. Including Assassin's Creed, Tomb Raider and EA Star Wars Battlefront. I expect that there will be bigger acquisitions coming.1 point -
Best horror games ever
Head_Hunter reacted to Shagger for a topic
Well, I'll let you decide whether or not this counts, but... On topic though, what @Crazycrab said is true. Companies file trademarks for things that have barely even gone so far as idea all the time just to stop someone else from taking the next step. Konami probably have patents stopping others from creating a Metal Gear Solid themed gear knob or a Castlevania themed file folder, it's just what these companies do. These patents can only be upheld for certain amount of time before they have to renewed, so these companies then renew the same patent, it doesn't mean for one second that there's plan for it. The sooner people stop reading more into these things then what they are, the better.1 point -

Very funny indeed, pyramid head pencil sharpeners aren't in existence, unless you're taking about 'Pencil sharpers xD. I know you made an illustration using such facts, I got your information and I know that not All trademarks brings forth new development. I believe they renewed the trademark to keep their profile active.1 point -
Best horror games ever
Head_Hunter reacted to Crazycrab for a topic
It could also mean their going to launch a new line of Pyramid Head pencil sharpeners. Companies file trademarks all the time, often with no intentions of even releasing any products or services related to it. It's likely in this case that Konami just want to maintain their rights to IP. EDIT: Actually, do Pyramid Head pencil sharpeners exist? That would actually be pretty friggin dope!1 point -
Their is nothing more demoralizing like being in a situation of feeling bored every time. Gaming us an antidote that takes gamers away from boredom.1 point

Why would you say the number of PC users is "too high? There's nothing wrong with playing games on PC, it's a great platform for gaming. True, some people take thier appreciation of PC gaming too far with the "Master Race" carp and go all fanboy with it, but a PC being a popular ad current place to play is not a bad thing. It's a great option that has a great many befits for those who are willing to suffer it's drawbacks.1 point

Yeah that's stupid. I get why some would like it, because it gives them time to play with their cars, but some of us just want to do the races and don't care about the other side of it. Wreckfest doesn't require me to drive to a location to start a race. I think it's just another way to keep the gamers playing longer.1 point
