  1. Terry94

    Hello there

Hey everyone. I'm Terry from England. I've been browsing this forum for a while and finally decided to join so I could join in with the activity. It's nice to see a forum that is so popular. I much prefer using forums than discord and other messaging apps. I own a Nintendo Switch that I share with my wife, we mainly play kiddy games due to having a two year old at home. Mostly Lego games and Mario Kart. I also own a laptop that I sometimes game on but it doesn't have the best specs so I can't play any newer games.

  2. I have some difficulty remembering which subjects can be posted where (ie General Gaming and Video Games), and on top of that General Chat has sub-forums listed with topics underneath it such as this, so it seems a bit inconsistent. Other than that, I'm generally fine with it. The removal of Points. I get people like giveaways, and I like updoots on a forum but it encourages way too much spam. I'm currently at the point where I ignore notifications from select users because my contribution doesn't matter to them as much as their desire to meaninglessly bump the thread. Bidding for rewards has also proven difficult when the margins between regular and spam posters becomes impossibly distant. This isn't jealousy or saltiness for not getting prizes; I find points have become a motivator for poor forum practice. Thankfully the ignore functions are working and I'll be applying them liberally, but that means less reporting for Spring cleaning. As long as it cleans up the readability of threads, I'll likely stick with ignoring users. It's not my sort of thing but this isn't a vote against by any means. I'm sure it'll be useful to those who want it. Very much so. I appreciate the site has a dark mode applied by default, meaning I don't have to resort to browser add-ons to make it readable. It's disappointing when one has to do that. The VGR forum is instantly appealing right out the gate. It's incredibly easy, and I've yet to experience an error. I would however like the window for editing posts to be longer lasting as I'm tempted to add more in the future once I've collected my thoughts, but don't want to clog up the page with addendums which wouldn't be fair on other readers. Mostly. See the above feedback about spam. Others have been diplomatic about it getting better, but I do not subscribe to such niceties. My enjoyment of the forum has dipped considerably because of it, as has my post quality which reflects my mood all too often. It's simply too difficult to interact with other users on certain topics without interrupting a conversation that should be happening in some form of chat channel, or in a Reddit comment chain. I realise this same old drum has been banged upon enough, and there's not a lot the moderators can do. It can't be an easy time keeping new users and frequent ones in control, so all who run this place have my congratulations.

  5. A greedy, insidious mess of pay-to-win lootboxes and predatory monetisation. It may even be the most horrid example of the implementation of such systems that we have ever seen in a game of this type. Activation-Blizzard (who I will refer to from now on as cock noses) released thier very much not anticipated "free-to-play" (a term I use very loosely indeed) addition to the Diablo franchise on Android, iOS and PC on June 2nd to a rousing chorus of "Yes, this is shit, like we expected". The only thing that the cock noses suppressed me with is just how bad it is. Youtuber Bellular News breaks this down in detail, here's his video. I'll also link Jim Stephanie Sterling's video as that was how I was first made aware of this. This is also very much worth a watch. I would ask you to please watch both videos before commenting. I know that means not being able to make 5 posts in the next 10 minutes, but I not going to tolerate anyone making a stupid point or asking a stupid question because they obviously couldn't be bothered watch the clips or read this post in it's entirety. You have been warned. Full details in the videos as aforementioned, but here is the basics. Using the games deliberately convoluted and complex system involving buying premium currency's, crafting and using the systems that involve of a use of gameplay (You do have to actually play the game to earn the rewards you pay for, so a small glimmer of good from the cock noses in this sea of shit.) the using that premium currency to access certain rewards and areas of the game, it has been estimated that it would cost a minimum of $100,000 to max out a character in Diablo Immortal. I promise you, that is not a misprint, $100,000. It has also been estimated that to achieve the same without paying would take 10 years of play. No hours, not days, not weeks or even months. Years. The cock noses were booed at Blizzcon 2018 over this game, and that was before they were exposed over the harassment and sexual misconduct that had been plaguing the company, so we knew back then what this going to be. So obviously, I didn't care about this game from minute one, but I didn't expect it to be this bad. The cock noses clearly built these microtransactions into the same so integrally that they pulled the plug on the games release in countries like the Netherlands and Belgium where lootboxes are banned. They obviously couldn't remove them, there a vital part of the game to point where I'd say they are literally what the game if for, the game exists for them. So anyone who planned to play the "It's Optional" card, I'm telling you before you even begin you're wrong. If they microtransactions were optional, why couldn't they remove them then release the game in these countries like EA did with FIFA? That's right, the cock noses are worse than EA, that's how bad it is. The only sign that the cock noses listened to the fans is the fact the game did release of PC as well, but means very little when the game is such an insult. How do you feel about all of this?

That's very funny but I know that feelings so well because it was the only way I could make any progress then in the game.

I remember the first time I played I would summon people to help me for every boss. That includes Pinwheel who is notoriously easy! I spent hours waiting to summon for some bosses. Once I got familiar with the game it became almost a sin to summon people so I never did unless it was a NPC like Solaire.

  8. I won't lie, I was genuinely thinking 'no' toward this answer. To not be able to play Spyro 2: Gateway to Glimmer or The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion again is a big ask, but any amount of money that would allow my partner and I to live together at the North Yorkshire coast would be well worth it. $1M would buy me that and then some, and my darling is money saavy, so she'd make the most out of it. It's a good job I did as thorough a Let's Play of it as I could so I could look back upon it with my memories and discoveries so vividly documented. I'd take it.

Who never played Dark Soul's would never understand the level of difficulty and frustration it comes with. If you're not wired hard, you can't keep it on for too long.

  10. Whenever I have a fun save going on Football Manager I tend to think about it a lot. There's so much to think about from signing new players to seeing how the NPC teams are getting on.

Haha. The same thing happened to my two friends. We all bought the game as we wanted a game that supported 3 players online. They both sold the game literally an hour later and I almost sold it, my strict parents wouldn't let me and I'm glad as it became my favourite game ever.

I'm hoping that I would be able to get my own PS5 before the year runs out once it's available. There are so many exclusive games on the console I can't wait to play.

Mario Kart 8 is among my top 10 best video games on Nintendo Switch. Do you play The Witcher series?

  16. Exactly, it's just like they are doing in the news. The disastrous event gets more publicity than the good one's. If it's a bad thing, they would stress it over and over again but if it's the good part, just once and they will leave it alone.

  17. A remake on Resident Evil 4 was just announced few days ago. If Capcom doesn't run it into the mud like they have been doing with some of their RE franchise, it's going to be very interesting.

  18. It's not today that such pattern started. The bad aspect of everything always seems to get more publicity than the good side of it. We just have to deal with it.

  19. Game breaking bugs are always very frustrating. It kills your vibe in the game immediately it keeps on repeating constantly.

  20. They would not be the first company that killed off a great franchise. EA and Ubisoft have done that very on more than one occasion with several games.

  21. Yeah, I did it with both Prison Architect and Payday 2: Crimewave Edition.

  22. Teen Wolf is a very good series. A teenager was bitten by a wolf in the woods and that's how everything started. A new one is scheduled to be released this year.

  23. Considering the difference in graphic quality, and the fact that I haven't played RDR1 anywhere near as much as I have RDR2, I can't come up with a valid comparison. It's like comparing Zelda Twilight Princess to Zelda II: The Adventure Of Link.

  24. Sup Bro, haven't seen you around much lately, hope all is well? To stick to the topic : Collecting videogames takes up a bunch of my time browsing various website and what have you on daily basis, altough it's starting to slow down a bit ever since i started posting here. Other than that it's just meanly playing games and hiking. I do watch soccer from time to time but i'm more interested in watching highlights of games then actual matches. I also follow formula one but those are just the races. You should be greatfull that Cyriel Dessers choose to play for nigeria instead of belgium because he is an exellent addition to your national team.

  26. It would be Far Cry 3 for me. It's basically the best first person shooter open world game which I have played. There are so many things to do in the game like ; taking out enemies outpost in a slaughter and stealth mode, hunting critters for equipment upgrades and so much more.

  27. The online store looks massive just like Amazon. It even looks bigger with more stocks. I'm going to need a while to navigate it properly.

  28. Should I send my account number already for the person to pay the $1 million to do so ASAP? I would quit gaming like I was told it would be the death of me lol.

  29. Yes. I recently bought Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga on the Nintendo Switch. I was really looking forward to buying it and couldn't wait until pay day to play it. Not even 10 minutes into the first time playing it the game crashed twice! All the hype and excitement I had for the game has vanished now. I'll try get round to playing again but can't motivate myself at the moment.
