If you could go back in time and give your child self one video game available today …

He means that he was still playing on his ps2 by the time gta v came out because that was the only console he had at that time, and then he got a ps3 later on.2 points -
If you could go back in time and give your child self one video game available today, what would it be and why? I would gift my childhood self BioShock Infinite, because I think it would have done the most to help expand my mind. My second choice would be Skyrim, because all child me wanted to do in games was explore.1 point

On the wake of The Last of Us HBO series recently wrapping up filming and predicted to release in 2023. It has been revealed from Sony President Jim Ryan that several other series based on PlayStation games are in the works for several different TV/Streaming platforms. https://www.gamesradar.com/horizon-zero-dawn-tv-show-heading-to-netflix-while-god-of-war-goes-to-amazon/ What has been revealed so far is that a series based on Horizon Zero Dawn is coming to Netflix and another based on God of War will be arriving on Amazon. Movies or video games which one you love more?
killamch89 reacted to Shagger for a topic
It is one of the great contradictions in media. Video games and superheroes almost sound like they were created for each other, yet when they get in bed together it's less like a blissfully, happy couple and more like Tom and Gerry. It doesn't make sense, why is it that so many of these games fail? It can't be just greedy publishers, there has got to be more. Maybe it's because the concept makes too much sense, to the point that developers think it sells itself and underestimate the work and creativity it actually takes to get it right? I don't know, but it is fascinating.1 point -

Most of the girls I know tend to lean more towards purple. Some of the girls I know only go with pink because they're afraid of being called lesbians or seen as a tomboy. It's toxic femininity. Yes guys, women have the same thing too. Hell, I used to know a girl who would only wear dresses and skirts for this very reason.1 point -
Star Wars

I like the movies, episodes 1-6. After Lucas sold it to Disney, the entire franchise was destroyed to nothing but a money grab. Hell I refuse to watch Return Of The Jedi on anything but VHS, since they replaced Darth Vader with hayden fucking christianson at the end on the DVD's. And I left his name uncapitalized intentionally. I absolutely hate him and his pathetic attempts at acting. Aside from him, episodes 2 and 3 were good. They would have been better if they replaced him with a rabid monkey. Hopefully the remake 2 and 3, with someone WHO CAN ACTUALLY ACT.1 point -

The flaw in his character build up or design was very obvious that it repelled a lot of gamers in RE 7. I never liked that one bit, if they had not fixed that, I'm not sure what would have happened.1 point -
We just got some interesting information about the Horizon Netflix Series. It actually going to be set in 2047 hence it's title, Horizon 2047. https://comicbook.com/gaming/amp/news/horizon-zero-dawn-netflix-tv-series-report/ This is interesting because not only does it mean that it's it set about 1000 years before the events of Horizon Zero Dawn, but looking at the timeline, It's about 17 years before the Faro Plague, Operation Enduring Victory and the Zero Dawn Project. 2047 is just before Elisabet Sobeck leaves Faro Automated Systems after their switch from Green Robotics to Military Systems, so my guess is the show's focus is starting from there then moving through to the events of Faro Plague? There doesn't seem to be much happening at the point that's directly relevant to the events of the games.1 point

Would you rather make your child learn more languages or more moral values?

Resident Evil 4 (Remake) [OT]
Knight Plug reacted to Justin11 for a topic
Capcom again, they aren't concentrating on making sequel versions of their RE series, they're now focused on remakes, which will only add few things from the original version and sell it off at same amount which a new game would cost.1 point -
Having checked the Steam Listing for Halo 3 and seen the PC specification requirements; My conclusion is that @Terry94's laptop is probably using integrated graphics, in other words it doesn't even have a GPU. The GeForce GTS 450 was launched 12 years ago and it's a 1GB card, and the CPU's listed are dinosaurs as well.1 point

I really hope that Capcom takes the remake of RE 4 very seriously the same way gamers are expecting something that's going to be worth their time and money.1 point -
If I unintentionally eluded that you could purchase Elden Ring (or any game for that matter) on Steam then play it on mobile I apologize. I feel the need before anyone spends the money on it and feels like they have been mislead to make it clear.... THAT IS NOT HOW IT WORKS! You can't play games on a steam library directly on your phone itself. Steam link is service that streams titles that are installed on a PC to other devices like Phones, Tablets Smart TV's and other computers. It's similar to the Remote Play Feature on PlayStation that allows you to play games installed on you console on the Vita. It needs to have a physical machine with the game installed and connected to the same local network or internet in order to function. I've not used it myself but from what I understand it's far from a perfect solution. If you want to use it via the internet you need to keep your PC running while your out and even via LAN the latency is reportedly worse than Stadia's. If you want to play PC games on the go the I'd say the Steam Deck (or something similar) or a gaming Laptop would be a better solution.1 point

There are a few contenders for me - CS:GO, RDR2, Rocket League, Skyrim. CS:GO - it's ridiculously easy to get into and as a Counter Strike fan, I'll always love this game RDR2 - Loved the original game and this prequel is an improvement on it in every way - the story is excellent and you tend to sympathize with most of the characters when you hear their backstories. Rocket League - Easy game to get into and is pretty addictive if you aren't careful. Skyrim - For all its issues, it's still one of the best open-world games of all time in my opinion and especially when modded, the sky is the limit.1 point

That's correct. If you want to get into youtube start creating short videos. You don't have to pass monetization threshold. You can start by posting short videos of you playing games1 point

Nintendo's consoles vs. Nintendo's handhelds.
killamch89 reacted to The Blackangel for a topic
The Wii flat out sucked, in my opinion. I don't have the interest of getting into a debate with anyone on it, regardless of their thoughts on the system. That out of the way, the NES had 716 officially licensed cartridges released on it, that could legally bear the "Nintendo Seal Of Approval" logo on them. But you also have to take in the fact, that a large number of them were multi-game cartridges. That fact alone puts the number of games well over 1,000. There were also games that were released that, while Nintendo couldn't in good conscience put their stamp of approval on them, they had no problem with them being on their system. Like bible games for instance. Then you could also count ROM-hacks made by the fans. Hell, I found a copy of FF7 on an NES cartridge on eBay and snatched it up quick. As for the quality, the NES had the most original and unique games of any system. That is a point that will be argued by many people here, as well as anywhere in the gaming community, but it is something that can't be ignored. To some (like me for instance) it is bone hard fact. To others, it's merely an opinion. There are games on the NES in which the style, and in some cases, the subject matter hasn't been attempted since. Unless you can point me to a sequel to A Boy And His Blob. With the DS, I'm not saying it was a bad console. But you have to consider how many iterations of it there were before you start counting the games. It is like the Game Boy in that regard. Many versions, many games. New versions mean more games. But you also have to consider the number of oversized franchises like Harry Potter and LOTR being brought to mainstream attention. Those games have been made, remade, made over, and made again. Star Wars falls into that trap too. If you ask me, there are too many of some of these games. So that skews the number widely. Granted the DS has several thousand games, which pretty much dwarfs any other system on the market. But the DS has grown and changed since its beginning. The amount of games initially released for the first version, was very low. But the design of the system in the way it worked, has only been rivaled by the Switch when it comes to handheld systems. From the numbers I've seen, 300 games on the DS is only about 10% of the number of games that have been released over the years, through all of its versions and iterations. So while the DS may have the biggest library, it still isn't able to rival the impact the NES had when it launched and still has today. Many people shop for library size, some shop for preferred systems, some shop by genre, others shop by reviews, and others still just shop for quality regardless of age or system. If I only shopped by genre, I would never have played RDR2 a single time. Because up until that, it was all fantasy games for me. I had never been into western games. Custer's Revenge was the one that destroyed any interest for me. I'm not trying to downplay anyone's opinion or preference. To each their own. I'm simply pointing out a few things that I feel should be acknowledged. Nothing more, nothing less.1 point -
I was thinking the same thing. I don't think our minds will see something as being more extraordinary than some other game. And I don't think we will take in the proper meanings of what we would today. You could take some dystopian game today and play as a kid, but not understand exactly who the villain is. Like an evil corporation, a kid would ask who is the bad guy? What is a corporation? Not understanding that having total control over people is wrong.1 point
