  1. Summer has officially begun. So what are your favorite ways to cool off in the heat? Personally I enjoy swimming, cold water, and ice cream. Those are typically the most effective. I tend to go to the theatre, museums, and sports events a lot during the summer. Those indoor activities really make life more bearable during the hot summer hots.

  4. I was initially on the fence about the announcement of a TLOU “remake,” but now that I’ve seen the trailer and realize the game is essentially intact, but with graphics/etc. rebuilt, I am excited. I would love to see something like this with some older open world games like Skyrim or Oblivion. What games would you like to see receive similar “remakes”?
    1 point
  5. Most of the open world games offer both these days. But I'm curious about what everyone thinks of those that do. You all know I hate online gaming. I just flat out do not enjoy it. But for some of the hot button items, which do you think is better? Games that I'm aiming at are things like RDR2, Skyrim, Witcher 3, and the like. At least I think Skyrim and Witcher have online capabilities. Correct me if I'm wrong. @Rain Dew got me to try FFXIV again recently, and while it's a decent game, I still hate online gaming. For me, I like to play my game, and not have to deal with a bunch of assholes I don't even know. I want to enjoy my gaming experience instead of feeling like it's a chore. Which is one of the things I feel about online gaming. It's more of a chore than an enjoyable experience. Then there's all those time sensitive add-ons that you have a short window to get. If you don't log on, you never have the chance again. And lastly, is the monthly fee to play online. Fuck that. I bought the game to play it, not to have to continue to pay for it after I bought it. That just flat out doesn't make a god damn bit of sense. So what are your pros and cons of each? Which do you prefer? Why do you prefer it?

  7. I think announcing release dates close to said release date, no more than 4-5 months maximum beforehand, is exactly what every game publisher and/or developer should do. I spoke about it before on VGR, but I'll say it again for those who missed it. Game companies want to announce release dates as early as possible so they can start taking pre-orders a quickly as possible. Remember, these companies want all the money and the want it yesterday, so taking people's money and giving them literally nothing back is the ultimate goal. Taking in that money then actually coming out with a game at all is, to them, a compromise. Unless your Star Citizen, in which case you literally have taken hundreds of millions of dollars of your fans money and given them nothing but a bare bones, broken alpha to "play". Getting back to it. Some games make their release announcements close to year in advance to get those pre-sales, but there is no way that company in question can be certain that a game would ready that far in advance. It's just too early in the game's development to know at that point. It's almost inevitable that the schedule they have set out doesn't actually work out that way, forcing them into that choice to delay a game or release it busted. This is exactly what happened to Cyberpunk2077. CDPR announced game's release date in June 2019 at E3 to be April 16nth 2020, a full 10 months later. They foolishly announced the date at this time because the world was watching, again to maximise the amount pf pre-orders and hype they could generate. There was no way CDPR knew with any degree of certainty they could make that date when they announced it. And of course, as we know, they didn't. The game was delayed to September, then November until the game finally came out in December, a year and a half after announcing the release date. To cap it all off, the game still came out busted, a fact CDPR even tried to cover up, resulting is a PR disaster for them. If they just waited until a point where they knew the game was going to be ready before announcing that release date, that whole mess could have been avoided. Game companies can't seem to help themselves, though. Cyberpunk 2077 is hardly an isolated incident. Similar things, although maybe not as extreme, happen all the time.

  8. Watch a Short Movie About MetaRace’s Community Racehorse You may have seen our recent post about MetaRace’s first flesh-and-blood, real life community racehorse. The two-year-old colt, also called “MetaRace,” ran in its first ever race at Windsor on June 13th. Now, MetaRace has put together a video to share the story of how they purchased and ran the horse. It cost £70,000 to buy MetaRace, who is now jointly owned by members of the MetaRace community. The horse’s trainer is Oliver Cole, who works with the colt at Whatcombe Stables. Check out the video to get a behind-the-scenes look at this ambitious project. And if you are interested in owning a percentage stake in the horse and buying, selling and racing your own virtual NFT horses, consider joining the MetaRace community. 10. A little weird, but I can't say I'm not happy for you. However, I don't feel like I would be doing this post right if I didn't point out that higher fan speeds, and thus more fan noise, are triggered by the component or components that fan is charged with cooling running too hot, not by whatever process or task the computer is doing. My laptop, for example, only does this when I'm playing a game that really pokes it with a stick. So to be honest, granted software updates do put a good load on the CPU, but it shouldn't be so much that a sudden and extreme increase in fan speed should be happening every time, especially with modern multi-core CPU's.

  12. But what is it that makes TLOU remake special? I obviously love the series and no doubt will buy the remake, but that's basing it on 2 previous masterpieces. I'm not sold that its such a grand remake considering the original was already a GOTY and near perfection. I'm excited about Saints Row remake since the first game was an Xbox 360 exclusive and the rest of the series was made for the 360/ps3 generations. So this August will be a very exciting remake of one of the most fun series I've played. There isn't a set release date for Layers of Fears, but recently found out about it. I can't really call it a remake, but in a way it is. This is the first I've heard of a developer combining a non continuity series into one game. Only brilliance can pull this off which if any developer can then its gotta be Bloober Team. Basically they are layering 2 series and a DLC into a single game. They will probably add new stuff too; I have to stay informed of updates on that. Assassin's Creed titles from 1-4 all need remakes using a lot of the same innovations from modern AC games like flying around an eagle all around Italy or the Caribbean. As well as upgraded scenery, fighting, gameplay, taming animals etc. PLEASE REMAKE!!!

  13. Did you meet her in school? 😂 It's all good. Many cultures around the world age differently when they are older. More often than not older women look half their age in Asia, Africa, and Middle East. Not in my country USA. It's the opposite. 30 year old women look 60. Breaking a hip is the new menopause.

    Age Difference in Dating

Oh come on now. That's a bit ridiculous, don't you think...

  19. Age doesn't matter for me, I am '20 at the moment. Even if I see love in the eyes of an 80 year old, I don't mind, lol, provided that love is there.

  20. Some of the male sopranos I've heard have been able to hit notes and sounds that most could never dream of. For example Andrew de Leon is one of the most amazing sopranos I've ever heard. Also with women being basses, I can definitely offer an example of that with 3 simple words: Alyssa White-Gluz. Also I have a voice deep enough that I've been called "sir" on the god damn phone. 🤬

  22. Unless it’s work related, I only really call my family on the phone. For texts, it’s only things I don’t need an immediate answer for. At work, I either call them, or walk over to them if I need to talk, as it’s usually something I want an immediate answer for. Email and Microsoft Teams doesn’t cut it a lot of the time.

  29. Most of us don't hate consoles, many have one or two too. Its mainly a meme, bc it's easy to make fun of and some people take it too seriously. It's gotten so common, that it's easy to just jump on that bandwagon

  30. @Yaramaki I understand your suggestion. I am going to brainstorm a solution where users who have made X amount of MEANINGFUL posts and/or have been a member at VGR for X amount of time period have the ability to edit posts for more than 10 minutes. Basically this feature would only be available to those who are considered valued contributors of the forum (which I would categorize you in).

  31. Why would you want to visit Stonehenge now anyway? There isn't quite as many orgies held there as there use to be. Oh crap, I did it didn't I...
    1 point
  32. Yes I would, but i would want to actually do it IRL instead of through VR. For me, it would be a waste of time to visit the Pyramids, Stonehenge, or Maccu Piccu in VR.

  33. I like Playing alone. Don't really have to bother or entertain anyone else.
    1 point
  34. Most of the time I prefer to play alone, and I rather enjoy having games that I play only with a certain group of friends and vice versa. One of my D&D players introduced me to a friend group and we play video games quite frequently, even though I originally wanted to play D&D exclusively and that be it. I treat video game friendships like any other relationship: there's a time and a place for communication, and usually it's not outside of that one game. Maybe that's just me, and maybe that seems exhausting. I regret losing friends simply to distance from the game, but it's bittersweet. I've got the memories playing with them and the good times we've had are what matter most. That said, I don't want to go through that every time I play something. If there's one drawback to playing with other people it's being conscious of them. Am I going too fast, too slow, am I taking the spotlight from them, am I lagging behind, do they want to go this way or that way? It really chives my spuds when my current game friend asks "another round?" or "what do you want to play?" and I'm thinking you invited me, you pick. They mean well, and I appreciate them asking rather than dictating more often than not. If I had to choose one way to play for the rest of my days, it'd be solo. There's many other hobbies I can induldge in with other people where we're all on even footing, but when I play a video game I want to play it, not wait or rush, or worry about the other person.

  35. I think I've mentioned it earlier before now. Okay, I'll still mention it again, which isn't all that different from what I'm still playing. - GT Series - Mortal Kombat - GTA III, and SA. - DMC - God of war I, II - PES, from 2010 - 2014. - God hand, etc.

  36. I think that you could actually do a pretty tasteful add supported game. Think of it this way, lets say its a game like GTA, could be singlie/multi or could be an MMO. Well put in patches that make the billboards show ads. it would be part of the environment, but make the game devs some money, wouldn't be intrusive and would actually show a changing environment when they change ever few days / weeks/ whatever.
