I second this @Justin11. It's OK that you don't have a full scope of the situation with regard to the resignation of the British Prime Minister Boris Johnson. It is even OK to not really care either, but if wish to contribute to conversation at hand, actually have something to say. For the second time in about 12 hours, I'm telling you if you have nothing to say, say nothing! If you insist on contributing to the conversation, do a little research to develop at at least some understanding of what's going so you can formulate an opinion and then, and I mean ONLY then, express it. If putting that bare minimum effort of is not worth it to you, then why would a post where you couldn't be bothered to make that bare minimum of effort be worth it to us? And frankly @Reality vs Adventure, I could say the same thing to you. Especially as the author of the thread, I would expect a lot better than this. No article, not so much as a basic description of what happened nor even a detailed opinion. Sadly, I've come to expect such a half-arsed effort from @Justin11, but this is really disappointing coming from you. @Crazycrab has already done your job for you and went through the basics about what happened and his effort is only reason I'm keeping this thread open. I may have deleted the thread entirely if it wasn't for him. I'll add here an article from what something I would consider a neutral news source to provide some more details. From Sky News My two cents? It was time for him to go. There had been two many missteps with things like party-gate, controversial policies set forth by his administration and what I would describe at best as a slow response to the cost of living crisis. He was not the PM and his was not the government we needed anymore. I don't have anything against the guy, but I don't think history is going to regard him that fondly.3 points

What game do you struggle with that everyone claims is easy?
kingpotato and one other reacted to The Blackangel for a topic
SMB can be hard as hell if you don't play it constantly. The hardest level is by far 8-4. Trying to find the correct path to follow so you can beat Bowser is one of the most difficult things. If you take one single wrong turn, you're not going to find him. The game gives you plenty of chances to find the right path, but it sure as hell doesn't make it easy.2 points -
Why on earth would you bring Sudoku (I'm assuming that's a misspelling on your part) into this? It's a logic based number puzzle, no more and no less. Yes, you can obviously play it on an electronic device these days, but the same is also true of Solitaire and one would hardly call that a video game. Candy Crush is also puzzle game, so like Sudoku the difficulty is a reflection of the person playing it, so I'm not sure how relevant that is to the subject at hand either, but I'll give @Heatman a little credit in that game at least that only exists as a video game. So it's the same vain as something like Tetris, so whilst I'm still unsure of how a puzzle game fit's into a conversation like this, Candy Does still count as a video game. Sudoku, I'd have to say, does not. Think about it this way, if I were to struggle with a Crossword app on my phone (and I would because I suck monkeys at crosswords), would that count here? Your post clasher along with @Justin11 tailing onto your comment tells me both of you were scraping for an excuse to post on this thread, when closer to the truth is that neither of you really had anything to say. When are you guys to learn that when have nothing to say it is OK to say nothing? @Justin11, you didn't even bring up a game of you own to add to conversation! Come one, guys... Anyway, with that out of the way; DKC is actually considered pretty infamous for it's difficulty in most circles. I personally didn't think is was as brutal as some people claim, but it was not an easy game by anybody's standard. For me to pick a game, I'd probably go for ReCore. Most reviews I read called it a breeze, some even sighting the lack of difficulty as problem, but the game had balls for me. It had an old school, Metroid feel and kept me on my toes big time.2 points

Games missing key ending slides
The Blackangel and one other reacted to Withywarlock for a topic
It could be said that this began with Fallout 3 and Todd Howard's "over 200 endings" statement. What he meant by that is, if I recall correctly, there's over 200 combinations of slides. It's like when talking about permutations in a deck of 52 playing cards. Technically there's over 200 endings; it doesn't mean they're each going to enhance the experience, and it's also why I've long since been unimpressed by the number of endings a developer boasts their game to have. Fallout: New Vegas does its ending slides well because each of the factions have so many things that you can change within them. Two players could allow Caesar's Legion to take the Dam, but the people who made it happen could be completely different and will go on to shape the future of the Wasteland differently. You can look at the older Fallout games and how they did their endings. Not as dramatic an extent as Todd Howard's claims, and not as meaningful as New Vegas', but definitely worth playing through multiple times to correct old choices and see new ones. Anyway, I'm diverting this conversation more into the realms of ending slides rather than games missing them. Apologies to the OP for that, I hope I've steered us back on course.2 points -
Games you found more fun after you knew you could beat them?
Reality vs Adventure reacted to StaceyPowers for a topic
Do you ever have “what if I cannot beat this game” anxiety the first time you play a game? If so, does the loss of that anxiety after successfully beating the game make it more relaxing and fun on a replay for you?1 point -
Point and Click/Adventure Games
Withywarlock reacted to Techno for a topic
Does anyone else play these types of games or am I the only one? They're the old school computer game genre that was popular in the 90s. Something like Sam And Max, Broken Age, or Grim Fandango are examples of these types of game.1 point -

Without stating your age
Reality vs Adventure reacted to Justin11 for a topic
I got you better, it is the fact you lived in a setting where it isn't possible to play rain ball. It wouldn't be possible to play on a flood surface, it is easy to play in an environment where water flows out, so it wouldn't be stagnated. To be frank, rain ball was fun during my childhood, we did funny stuffs with the ball.1 point -

Actually, I don't remember ever doing that. I lived in a really dry climate surrounded by desert in Vegas. When it finally did rain, it flooded waste high and we would swim in it with dirt and all.1 point -
Do you try to avoid a high civilian death toll?
Withywarlock reacted to Clasher for a topic
Lol, I don't really give a damn about who dies or who is spared. I'm all about the fun, it's a video game so I am not really expecting to feel any sense of emotion when I shoot down a civilian or some other characters in the game, unless it is specifically instructed in the game that I shouldn't kill that particular target and if I do I will have to start the level all over again just like what happens in GTA.1 point -
Is there a way to maintain a sense of urgency in open world games?
Reality vs Adventure reacted to Clasher for a topic
Personally, i feel every genre of video games were designed to suit a particular purpose and give a different kind of feeling. You don't expect to play a fast car racer game or adventure game and get the same kind of feeling you would get when playing a soul game or even a survival horror game. That's just how it all works, open world games are the way it is you just have to enjoy it that way.1 point -

The first NFT game console has been announced
Justin11 reacted to Withywarlock for a topic
I won't quote the article ver batim (though I strongly recommend people read it fully rather than just what myself and others quote), but here's some interesting tidbits that stand out to me: Such as...? So what is Web 3? Because right now "Metaverse" and "Crypto" are buzzwords used by people who want to impress investors, not actually move the World Wide Web forward like what came with Web 2.0. You can't just say "who doesn't understand Web 3" and then proceed to not explain what it is, which right now the Wikipedia page only confirms my suspicions. Correct me if I'm wrong, but does this therefore mean there's only going to be 10,000 of these things sold? If so this leads me to the next bit, How are you going to cover the costs if only 10,000 people are paying for these passes? Games consoles are sold at a loss: the games and accessories themselves make up for the losses. What "games built on different blockchains" are going to make up the cost of hardware that can run games at 8K HDR, 120 FPS, ray tracing whilst being accessed by a fingerprint scanner? Regarding the logo they say this much: OK, I guess...? You couldn't just change the logo anyway, just to be sure? Your brand isn't going to hit store shelves or wherever for another two years, you've got plenty of time to change it. Four guys and a 3D Printer, essentially. That's a romcom waiting to happen. ...you didn't speak to developers before you decided to make your console? Jesus wept on an 30p NFT.1 point -
What in the world happened to Boris Johnson in UK?
Withywarlock reacted to The Blackangel for a topic
If you wouldn't say much, then why the hell did you make a post to say so? This post adds absolutely nothing to the discussion. In fact, it detracts the conversation. You are continually making posts that say nothing and damage the conversation at hand, because then we have to step into the situation. Either quit making pointless posts like this one, or simply don't post. There is no competition here to see who can make the most posts. There are a good amount of members here who joined long after I did, yet they have made more posts than me, and I would say 95%-98% of them were well thought out. I don't care that they post more than I do. If I don't have something of value to add to a conversation, I don't post. You would do well to use the same logic. As I said, it's not a race or competition of any kind. And I know that @Shagger is sick of you doing this as well, as he has given you countless warnings. I see that in 10,336 posts you have acquired 340 points. That was done within the last few days. Have you ever thought about WHY? So consider this a FIRM warning.1 point -

None, I stay with the ones making beautiful games. Even if Milestone SRL makes beautiful racing games for me, I'm not going to choose them ahead of others, because others are trying too to make good games. I play lots of racing games not just from 'mileston, but from 'Polyphony Digital, 'Codemasters studios etc.1 point -
What in the world happened to Boris Johnson in UK?
Withywarlock reacted to Crazycrab for a topic
British politics is not the binary two party system that's in America. There are multiple political parties which different ideologies that sit in different places scale of left and right. Boris Johnson is outgoing leader of the... I'd say middle (not extreme) right Conservative Party, but most of the scandals and controversies around his tenure have had very little to do with his politics. If we kept every other factor the same but instead Boris Johnson was the leader of the rival left wing Labor Party it wouldn't have made any difference. So for your sake please don't embarrass yourself by turning this into a "right wing" conspiracy because it really isn't. It's been a long line of I'd say relatively minor scandals, at least when compared to America. There's two that are significant. The first was "Partygate" when he and his ministers were hosting parties and other social gatherings during the pandemic when everyone else was in lockdown. This lead to confidence vote in June which Boris Johnson just barely survived. Then there's the latest one with the (now former of course) Chief Deputy Whip Chris Pincher. Before Pincher was appointed by Boris Johnson to this position he had been accused of sexual misconduct. I should state for the record I don't know if he was guilty but it doesn't matter. The issue that has now forced Johnson and the majority of his cabinet to resign is that when accusations where recently published in the tabloids Boris Johnson claimed that he didn't know about them, then a letter leaked out that proved that he did. He reportedly even made a joke about it once saying "Pincher by name, pincher by nature!". Personally I kinda liked Boris, even though I don't agree with his most of his politics. He's certainly a character, witty and charismatic. I thought "Partygate" was kinda petty and blown out of be proportion. I agree that he and his ministers should have been following the rules instead of chucking back pints in Number 10 but I know lots of people that didn't especially at Christmas and New Year. The latest one with Chris Pincher does bother me more, that's him just streight up lying to our faces and that's not acceptable.1 point -

I tend to enjoy the more obscure and frankly deranged ones like Harvester (content warning for all manner of things below): However I would like to get more into Broken Sword, and also try out the Monkey Island games for their Douglas Adams/Monty Python-esque humour. Those are the sorts of adventure game where despite their wackiness they at least make sense.1 point -
What game do you struggle with that everyone claims is easy?
kingpotato reacted to Withywarlock for a topic
I consider myself adept at platform games and even I struggle with the first Super Mario Bros. on NES. There is a lot to look out for in terms of level hazards and enemies, but they got easier as time went on. ~ I myself struggled with The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, or more specifically its dragon fights. I'm generally not a fan of ES combat in any iteration of the games, but Skyrim is up there as one of my least favourite barring stealth-archer build (AKA the only build.)1 point -

The strangest video game
kingpotato reacted to The Blackangel for a topic
I have to say A Boy And His Blob on NES. It's absolutely crazy. There is a blob that needs your help getting back t its home planet, Blobonia. In the game you feed the blob different flavored jellybeans to turn it into different forms like a ladder and an umbrella, so that you can traverse through everywhere and get him home. That's one of the things I love about the era. Risks on the part of the developers.1 point -
