What are your favorite tools to convert videos?
Scottypops reacted to DC for a topic
I recently used Converter App for converting a MKV video into MP4 and in fact it did a great job. https://converter.app/mkv-to-mp4/ Also, many other formats are supported. Unlike other online converters, the site wasn't stuffed with ads and did not ask for money immediately, and the speed of the video conversion was quite impressive.1 point -
Bully Remake concept - Trailer in unreal engine 5
kingpotato reacted to Kane99 for a topic
So this is just a fan re-creation of the trailer, and I guess it's made all in unreal engine 5. I think it looks great graphically, but the character animations and look of the characters aren't as good. Still, it looks way more realistic than it ever has looked before. Check the video out below, and tell me if you'd play this?1 point -

Today I tried Raft Co-Op with my friends and it was strangely entertaining. Imagine being on a piece of plank and having to build it up using stuff in the ocean that you have to fish out of the water. All the while, a shark keeps taking chunks out of the raft at intervals.1 point -
Games That Have Nowhere Left To Go
Yaramaki reacted to The Blackangel for a topic
The idea for this thread came to me while I was replying to @Yaramaki's thread Videogame Franchises that outstayed their welcome? There are a lot of game series that the developers have shot themselves in the foot with. One of the biggest examples is the RDR franchise. Not counting Red Dead Revolver, the first RDR had a lot of promise to starting up a new series. But at the end of it, things really had nowhere to go, considering the time frame it would take place in. So then RDR2 came out which was a prequel. Now what? A prequel to a prequel? A sequel to the first one? Is Jack going to run with Al Capone? Is he going to be a lawyer like his mother wanted? RDR has absolutely nowhere to go now. Unless something huge happens, it's dead. Maybe they'll release a game from the viewpoint of the O'Driscolls. That one wouldn't sell as everyone is more attached to the Van der Linde gang at this point. What are some others that have left themselves nowhere to go?1 point -
Are you okay with Xbox not selling as much as the PS5?
Withywarlock reacted to Kane99 for a topic
Here's the thing, Xbox is doing just fine. They don't need to place #1 in a console race, because their sales are good, not PS5 good I imagine, but they're still selling. And I think they're even okay with being behind in sales to the Nintendo Switch for example. I don't know if the switch is outselling the Xbox series X at the moment, but I could see it. As long as their sales are good and they're making money, I'm sure they don't care too much anymore. Yeah they probably want to get to the #1 spot, but I don't think they need to. Where are you from? I'm sure the console was popular in many other areas overseas from the US. But I know in some countries it didn't sell well at all. I think American made consoles are a tough sell in some foreign countries. And yeah, PS is popular all over the world, there are some places I imagine it doesn't sell well, but I imagine it sells alot better than Xbox does in most foreign countries. A big help is gamepass, I think it has revitalized the Xbox brand and has helped increase sales of Xbox consoles old and new gen. And yeah, that PS5 shortage, and scalpers picking them all up, it's helping push sales for the Xbox. I could easily see many parents just getting an Xbox because they're available. And with prices of everything going up, I can see scalpers trying to gouge even more money out of the PS5s they snatch up. I think it's because most of the games don't appeal to the market over there, partly because like that article you shared said, that they didn't try to go for Japanese and other foreign developers. I think getting foreign devs on board, to team up for games, or to even outright buy up foreign studios. It was recently announced that Hideo Kojima is going to make a game for Xbox, so they are making some moves to work with foreign developers. I'm excited to see what they have planned next. Because remember, all of these exclusive titles will be on gamepass.1 point -
Is there any such thing as "overhyped" or "overrated" video games?
killamch89 reacted to Kane99 for a topic
When I hear overhyped, I think of something like Cyberpunk 2077. A game that was good, but had tons of problems at release, and wasn't what fans were expecting. That game got decent reviews, but the bugs and other issues held it back. So I considered that overhyped for what we got. Over-rated, I would say is oftentimes a good game, but is given rave reviews when it doesn't bring anything new to the table. Call of Duty these days, is over-rated. Because if you ever look at reviews for COD games, for the most part, are high, usually 8's, 9's, and some I'm sure give them a 10. I'd say that's over-rated since COD doesn't change much, and hasn't for years now. I'm pretty sure they use the same engine they've used all of these years, or they use a similar engine. But, it's probably due to them re-using assets from past games to cut corners. If it works, don't bug with the formula, but due to it working so well, they haven't innovated and grown into something fresh and new. That's how I feel anyway. But to be fair, it is all subjective, someone could argue that COD is exactly rated the way it should be, and some will say Cyberpunk had no issues for them. We all go by our experiences with the games we play. So over-rated could be anything. But with overhyped, I think it's easier to understand, it's more to do with sales and how much promotion was thrown at it before its release. If the game didn't do well, then I'd say that is overhyped, especially if there was a lot of promo and fans seemed interested. But, maybe those reviews steer some people away and it bombs.1 point -

It’s all opinion. Overrated for me is when I see a game that I think is good or great get perfect scores across the board. It’s like, cool, I enjoyed the game, but not that much.1 point -
Games That Have Nowhere Left To Go
Yaramaki reacted to Withywarlock for a topic
I'm That Guy™ (AKA Herald of the Amethyst Drake), but in all seriousness there's not a whole lot you can do mechanics-wise. The elemental breaths introduced in Enter the Dragonfly were at their best in in the next instalment A Hero's Tail. Enhancing his core abilities was done in The Legend of Spyro trilogy and in Skylanders especially. Any new ideas mostly involve vehicles (Enter the Dragonfly, Spyro: Fusion/The Cortex Conspiracy) or new characters (...so not a Spyro game). The most you can do with Spyro today is more of the same which isn't necessarily bad like in the sense of my earlier nomination with Space Hulk which is literally the same ruleset repeated. As you go on to say with Crash Bandicoot, you can't take the characters further but the level design and challenges you absolutely can. Why there's not been more in the way of DLC for their respective remasters I've no idea.1 point -

Withywarlock reacted to Yaramaki for a topic
Microsoft has never been able to get a foothold in the japanese/asian market they tried hard with the og xbox and even harder with the xbox 360. But Whenever they released the xbox one it seems like they have given up alltogether, the last time i visited japan the xbox one slim model just came out and was being sold as a 4k blu-ray player, oh yeah it also plays games but why do you want to do that right. My point being is that take that market out and console sales will be much closer because as it stands now sony and nintendo have the entire asian market pretty much to themselves. Surely the head honchos at the xbox division have taken note that doing your own thing as a console manufacturer works, doing something different then sony is actually working pretty well for microsoft so far. It's like they finally get it that they can't beat sony at their own game and have accepted that. Obviously the shortage of ps5 consoles also worked into microsoft's favour because it's certain a bunch of people have jumped ship because they coulden't get a ps5 at a normal price.1 point -
Games That Have Nowhere Left To Go
Withywarlock reacted to Yaramaki for a topic
To stick to the topic Crash Bandicoot seems like a franchise that has nowhere left to go anymore, The remasters were good, the recent one Crash bandicoot 4 : it's about time was also fairly good but i feel like what more can you possible do with Crash bandicoot as a character and a series like how much appeal does Crash bandicoot have towards a younger audience. I'd say the same about the spyro series but i'm afraid a certain somebody will likely want to have my head so i'll leave the little purple dragon alone (for now). Mario party could also be a decent fit for this thread, everything that could have possibly done with the mario party franchise has been done, i don't doubt nintendo will reinvent themselves at some point but until that happens it's another franchise that has nowhere left to go. The first 3 games of Mass effect also comes to my mind, Where to the point all there is to be said has been said and the series wrapped up nice enough to give it a rest. Sure the world and lore of mass effect is too good to waste and not do something with it, but bioware can't afford another andromeda fiasco because that would push the series into the requirements needed to list it into this thread. Same could be said about the Witcher franchise as Geralt his story is done.1 point -

Is there any such thing as "overhyped" or "overrated" video games?
Grungie reacted to Withywarlock for a topic
Overhyped? Yes, absolutely. My definition - if it can be called that as it's not exactly definitive - is that people get so excited about a game that they'll buy it without any sort of critical thinking. "I'll get it anyway" is why so many games are allowed to come out as rushed, as evidently buggy, with as much content missing as they do. We can talk about the industry-wide problems going on behind the curtain, they absolutely exist, but some of that accountability falls on the consumer. Alternatively, overhyped is when the game turns out to be less than its marketing - who'd've thunk it? As for overrated, that's a term that gets bandied around too much but then that's typical of most games discourse. It's up there with words like janky, P2W and greed. As @Grungie said in that thread, and I quote, Overrated to me means the game's critical/user rating is too high for what it is. That's it. One can like something as Grungie points out, but think that it's liked too much and sometimes for the wrong reasons. I certainly think Gothic is vastly overrated by its fanbase, but I still like what a lot of it does (even if as said in another thread the game is less than the sum of its parts). Similarly, underrated is another term that gets tossed hither and yon, usually by people who liked the game a lot. It's rare you'll see someone who dislikes a game and say it's underrated, because even if one dislikes it they can see how others should be able to enjoy it. Good thread, Clasher. Thanks for bringing up the topic.1 point -

Are you okay with Xbox not selling as much as the PS5?
Withywarlock reacted to The Blackangel for a topic
PlayStation is more popular than Xbox in almost every way. There are a lot more people searching for a PS5 than there are searching for an Xbox Series S/X. The PlayStation being made by Sony is already a selling point, as there are tons of people who crave Sony devices. So when they entered the gaming market, they already had a huge fan base. Xbox does have its loyalists, but the market is mostly dominated by Sony. Nintendo held that position for decades, but has lost ground to Sony. If you look around (here at least) you will see the Switch (including Lite and Oled) and Xbox Series S on the shelves everywhere. It's an ungodly rare occurrence to find a PS5 on the shelves, because they have already sold. The Series X is harder to find, but you still have the same technology in the Series S minus the ability to play discs. Also you have to factor in the fact that a lot of people don't trust Microsoft. I use a PC, and I don't trust them. I'm not a fan of Bill Gates in any way, but I've used both PC and Mac, and the PC is far superior to the Mac. Sony has a lot more trust put into them, because they have ALWAYS made quality products. Microsoft can't make that claim. Sony is the top selling console on the market right now for a plethora of reasons.1 point -

Xbox is a big name in the US and maybe the UK, but elsewhere, not so much. PlayStation on the other hand is well known in many locations and to my knowledge, they sell a lot more in UK and other foreign countries. Xbox has had problems selling in Japan and some other countries. Yeah, but Sony is still making money because of these scalpers. It's more of a problem for consumers, because they're stuck waiting for PS5s to show up, because these scalpers are jumping in lines to get their hands on as many as they can.1 point -

Videogame Franchises that outstayed their welcome?
killamch89 reacted to Yaramaki for a topic
The major problem for any company that would want to take on the wwe license is probably going to be able to outbid 2k games for it, granted if 2k games want to continue with the license. There are rumours about an Aew in development, so there is always that and the competition could do miracles for the wwe games. There is always fire pro wrestling world for the ps4/pc which is arguably the best wrestling game ever made, it may look simplistic and it's probably too niche for the casual wrestling fan but any wrestling fan should give this a try as you've never seen a wrestling game with this many match types and imo the best control scheme in any wrestling game. People interested in wrestling should look into and it's probably not going to break the either as you can pick up a physical copy on ps4 for around 20bucks.1 point -

killamch89 reacted to Kane99 for a topic
They could easily support it, but I think Rockstar knows RDO is dead. And to them, it's probably not worth it to support it as much as say GTA Online. I hate to say it, but it is the truth. They didn't support online enough, so it slowly died, and now they are going to leave it behind. I just wish they'd support it some more. killamch89 reacted to harleyqbx for a topic
Start with whatever you have on hand or can afford, because starting at all is better than waiting until the equipment you have is perfect. Make sure you can keep at it regularly before you invest any real $ into it, because eventually it becomes work to keep at it, and not everyone sticks with it once it gets to that point. Also, it's going to take awhile for you to build up enough of an audience to get sponsorships. So, don't break the bank on something you're not going to see a return on for awhile. But if and when you're ready to, sound is the most important part, even if you're doing video. So, go for that good mic first. I've heard good things about the blue yeti mic. I use the samson meteor. https://www.amazon.com/Samson-Meteor-Studio-Condenser-Microphone/dp/B004MF39YS1 point -
