  2. Wouldn't it be nice if more games offered better voice options for their custom characters? Whenever I play a game that has voice options, they always seem lacking to me. I want funny voices, serious ones, multiple race types and so on. I think that adds to the game for those wanting to replicate themselves in the game. No voices I use match my own voice and I think it'd be fun to have a game where it comes close to how I sound in real life. I know this likely won't happen, as I doubt studios want to hire tons of voice actors just to make everyone feel included. But it'd be nice to have more than a couple options too.

  3. I'm not sure this would actually work to a game's benefit. Putting the practical problems with this aside like having to hire an army of voice actors, having characters voiced also limits what dialogue they can actually have. Look at Fallout 4 for example. Yes, it was kind of cool to have the protagonist fully voiced for the first time in the series, but the dialogue itself was not nearly as diverse and, creative and fun as it had been in pervious games in the series and that had a detrimental effect on the role play experience. I don't think I'm being just some old nerd by suggesting that reading your role-plying character's dialogue my even be better than having it voiced as you can let yourself hear whatever voice you want as you read it, you can feel more connected to the character that way.

  4. That's more than enough to say thanks for throwing or giving more insight to the other two games. I think that I'm going to more interested in getting and playing Fast RMX, being that I'm a good fan of racing games. I need something to spice up my playing of Gran Turismo 7.

  5. Yes I agree with you 100%. I hate when games just up the health of an enemy, but don't change anything else about them. Like Shagger said, in Horizon Zero Dawn, they make the AI smarter as you choose a higher difficulty. I think in Hitman it's similar, in that they add more enemies in the map, and also make it tougher to get away because their vision cones are a lot bigger. On top of that, if you're shot, or you use clothes from a person who was shot, the enemies will take notice of that and will get suspicious. I like when games higheten the AI to being a bit smarter about the situation. But, I also found that in Hitman, you can pop off a few shots and run in front of the enemies if you want haha. I guess this is a method to speed running. Anyway, I think games like Dark Souls do AI the best. If they can replicate something like that with other games, I could see it being much better.

  6. Ultra hard on Horizon Zero Dawn did this very well. Yes, on that difficulty mode the health of the enemies increased, but it also changed their bahaviour. They could see you from a far greater distance than before and they were way more aggressive. One has to stick and move and fight more tactically than on other difficulty settings.

  7. Some games I bought brand new for like $20-40 new at a place like GameStop or Best Buy and see it listed on PSN for $60 for quite awhile. So I personally find it weird when the digital copy stays at that price for so long, but the physical goes down quicker.

  8. I unfortunately have to agree on part of that. Physical media will eventually be a thing of the past. Everything will become a DDL, and we won't be able to stop it whether we want to or not. It's already starting with several systems. You can get pretty much any game you want through their online store. And a huge number of games in stores like Gamestop are just a case with a digital code inside, instead of a cart or disc. So before long (I estimate within the next 10 years) physical media will be gone and disc/cart capable systems will no longer be made.

  9. When both people and animals have abandoned a specific region of the country, you know it's bad. From what I gather, even the fish are running down the road yelling FUCK THIS!

  10. My issues with digital distribution are more on the console side. A lot of this can by “bypassed” on the PC side. If they remove a game from the store, you’re screwed, you’re not getting it back unless you jailbreak your console. The physical copies tend to go down in price a lot faster than digital. People gloat about PSN sales and how those prices are why they went digital, yet I’m sitting here owning those same games I got for the same price (or less) on disc a long time ago. it’s also crazy how I got some games a few years ago for $20 that are still being listed as $60 online.

  11. Ride 4 is one of those such racer games where the trailer is very intriguing though the game is good but the trailer would get you so frenzied into wanting to purchase the game.

  12. Is a good old school rant at place here or not, this may take a while to write but ... Nah i'm not into digital media distribution at all, infact as a video game collector it is against everithing i stand for. Call me stubborn or whatever you want but once consoles go all out flat digital, think i'm going to retire from modern gaming all together. However since joining vgr i got stoked again on current gen hardware and started enjoying bargain hunting for modern physical games, mainly the xbox platform again. Never seen the benefit of digital either, yeah you can loose a game i can give you that. But damaging a game like a blu-ray disc if you use it the normal way it's damn near impossible to scratch up. Cartridges are usually robost things so unless you smash it on purpose you'll be fine. So it's a pretty lame to use that as excuse that digital is better then physical. We have had these discussions before and feeling like i would only repeat myself again, i won't go into the whole digital vs physical arguement of ownership again because with modern gaming it doesn't matter all that much anymore, besides your disk is nothing but a license key these days to play the game, i've had games where there is literally only 40mb on the disc and the rest is a download, so physical disk or not it's the same as a digital download imo being the only difference you get a disk and a case instead of well nothing. Nintendo first party titles and many games on switch are different in that regard as few games only require small downloads of patches, gotta give nintendo credit where it's due they seem to care that their games are as complete as possible before putting them on a cart. Offcourse can't really vouch for third party titles on switch as you know, you buy a switch for nintendo games and probably smaller indie titels aswell. But we are going way off on the subject could be a neat thread in itself , is nintendo the last true gaming company that cares about finishing their games? there is some benefit in digital media and i can see why others prefer it over physical media and you know it's your oppion, i can respect that. Not everybody has the space to store all that crap or has the desire to keep everithing around like me and you know that is fine. That would be the only benefit i can think of with going all digital and that's space. Maybe another factor where digital is better in is that many games woulden't even exist because of the likes of steam, psn, xbox store or nintendo eshop. I've had this discussion with my girlfriend last week when we were on vacation where she asked me how many videogames do you own exactly? I coulden't really say exactly but pretty sure it's well over 12k at the moment, do i need all that stuff and why do i keep buying all that stuff, it's a question i'm hoping to find an answer to sooner rather then later. I still enjoy collecting videogames and the hunt for every game for a console/handheld still appeals to me after all these years and that what matters most to me, the enjoyment i get out of it, still being stoked when i get some mail in with some new games, being able to tick some games off what seems an endless list. You could almost say it gives me satisfaction and purpose in my life lol. But i digress because in the end it doesn't really matter all that much, alsong the physical option is there, i'll support that, if somebody else doesn't, no problem. The most important aspect is playing and enjoying the videogames we buy.

  13. This sums up the Soulslike experience: it's one of the most obvious examples of pattern recognition in today's games. That doesn't make it easy per se, but if you pay attention to the boss abilities and remember them you can breeze through them. I don't because I'm too impatient! 😅 YouTuber Lorerunner once said it best: Dark Souls is not hard. Dark Souls is punishing. It punishes players who don't react appropriately to an enemy's telegraphing of abilities by dealing a lot of damage and potentially sending you back to a point where you need to consume some resources for you can face off with the boss. Making mistakes is expected, and nobody can claim the game is easy without having made those mistakes plenty of times before, but the negative impact making said mistakes is far greater and ultimately what makes Soulslike gameplay what it is. Unfortunately some games don't do that, and just claim a high difficulty, distant checkpoints and sluggish combat a Soulslike make. If you want a lesson in how to ignore the fundamentals of Dark Souls' design philosophy look no further than Lords of the Fallen: a decent enough game if you know how to cheese it, but otherwise fails at being as satisfying as a Soulslike.

  14. I was saying this in other E-Sports topics, but financial rewards for tournaments can range from anywhere to a few hundred dollars to a prize pool of $40 million dollars. UFC fighters make alot less than people think (it's nothing like boxing); and many people don't train to be the best exclusively for the money. I have, without a doubt, been the best at some games and did not earn a single penny. Not bragging; I'm just saying that the treasure of being the best player on the planet (at a given game) is actually quite invaluable. People that train around 8-10 hours daily (not necessarily 7 days a week) are in just about every genre. It's all very sporadic and everybody is different, kind of like weight lifting. Some people can lift real hard like 3 or 4 times a week and make gains, where others prefer 5 days a week literally every week. Alot of people prefer 6 and some prefer training every day. It also depends on if you're still trying to improve, because really great players or athletes can get to a certain threshhold where they only have to train to outrageously hard levels for a certain time, then just keep their skills or body in a maintenance phase where they can slow things back down or speed things back up, if they are (for example) preparing for a tournament in e-sports, or preparing for a World Title shot in the UFC against a very skilled opponent.

  15. Here is a fun article I just found about rdr2 “Red Dead Redemption 2 bug means even NPCs are leaving Red Dead Online” https://www.pcgamesn.com/red-dead-redemption-2/bug-red-dead-online

  16. Of course, let's keep this on topic. In regards to 3D TVs are they even sold in most stores these days? I feel like the last time I bought a new TV, which was last summer, I didn't see any 3D TVs on the shelf, nor did I see any 3D glasses in store shelves. Do you guys see 3D TVs in stores anymore?

  17. What are you favorite game trailers, but for awful games? Or games that were okay but got awesome trailers? For me it was probably dead islands trailer, which has been previously mentioned. But the game itself wasn't all that great. It was fun for a while, but got repetitive and boring after a while. But that trailer though. What other trailers sold you on awful games?

  18. I remember reading a very long blog post before, from someone who played eve online for a time, and got very tangled up in "space" politics, clan warfare, and pirate griefing. I must say the whole read was quite enjoyable and read like a sci fi novel. 😉
