Gonassis and one other reacted to Empire Of Sight for a topic
Herro :D, You guys can call me EOS or Gabe, I've been digging around online trying to find some decent forums / conversations outside of Reddit , twitter, and happened to dig into the Google rabbit hole enough to find VGR. Hoping to have some good conversations and get to know fellow nerds like myself. Some things about myself to break the ice and hopefully connect are: Been a die hard gamer since before internet came on a disk and the only emojis in a chat room were of the "XD", "^.^", " :D", ":P" ":'(" style haha. The game I've spent the most time on has to be Runescape, started playing around 2004 on and off for about 17 years. Would say WoW , Diablo, Path of Exile, Dark Souls all follow behind but were equally as addicting in their own ways. In terms of none MMORPG's Spyro the Dragon, MegaMan, GTA < the PS1 and PS2 versions , Sims, Age of Empires, RollerCoasterTycoon dominated my gaming life before internet gaming took over. Chances are there's a few titles I've played that could be listed but the above are what shaped my preferences in gaming today. Would love to hear about anyone that wants to chat so feel free to say hello and break the ice with us ā¤ļø Hope everyone has a rocking weekend, EOS2 points -

I got addicted to dumb dirty videos of Indian Street food
kingpotato and one other reacted to The Blackangel for a topic
Cooking standards vary wildly all over the planet. This may be the norm and totally acceptable in India. Hell, things like that are done here in the states in some locations. I know when I worked at Pizza Hut, we weren't required to wear gloves or anything. We used our bare hands to make the pizzas. A lot of mom & pop restaurants are like that too. It is what it is. But at least the guy in the video is using his right hand to cook and leaving his left hand away from the food.2 points -

Goofy graphic style don't seem to date even in this year, seriously thats fantastic. The levels are always a fun adventure that can't be miss. Insomniacs classic series went in a bang that left a nice footprint that can't be removed. I'm glad I played this.2 points -
Spyro the Dragon
kingpotato and one other reacted to Withywarlock for a topic
The skateboard would've been in the third game, Year of the Dragon, but yes I remember that same love for it. I rate the games as thus: the first is the most replayable; the second is the best for refining the existing formula; the third is the most innovative, but I find one of the least replayable games because of its use of cutscenes, alternate characters, greater emphasis on minigames and greater difficulty. The first one, as you go on to say, is the one I play the most for its humble nature. It lets you go through the levels seamlessly and wastes no time. When I was waiting on my PC to be repaired, this was the game I played on the console itself rather than an emulator. Over, and over, and over. Got to 100% completion (sometimes completing the bonus level at the end), deleted my save and started over again. I'd probably completed it about 15-20 times before and after work whilst waiting for my PC to come home. Indeed. I recently did a Let's Play of the game wherein my main criticisms were the maps were too large and full of nothing, meaning you'd spend an extra 20-30 minutes trying to find any remaining dragon treasure/dragonflies, the enemy reaction times were stepped up (which is fine, given they've always been slow in previous games), and some of the minigames were flat out broken. I had to switch from the PS2 version to the GameCube version simply because a slide level didn't work and thus I couldn't get 100% completion. For anyone who would like to get into it, the GameCube version isn't as pretty but it's considerably less buggy (at least the GameCube version on the Dolphin emulator).2 points -

How long until you give up on a puzzle and cheat?
Empire Of Sight reacted to StaceyPowers for a topic
When dealing with a tedious/challenging puzzle in a game, how long do you struggle to solve it on your own before you give up and look up the solution online? To be honest, I sometimes give up in mere minutes, especially if it is in a game where I did not sign up to solve puzzles.1 point -

South park The Fractured But Whole: review
Empire Of Sight reacted to kingpotato for a topic
I loved the Stick of thruth, its one of those games that despite the controversy ( Zombie Fetus Baby Nazi Boss Fight...) was an incredible fun game, it really didnt hold back on the jokes. The Fractured But Whole on the other hand really does underperform. I played the game before and never really finished it and called it trash, but the game deserved a second chance. Its a good game, but thats just it... I liked the new chess based gameplay mode, it really allowed for some good strategy thinking. This time around they introduced a lot of RPG mechanics like crafting, skill equipment and more status effects. While I got a few jokes here and there this sequel is very toned down, I mean it still has a lot of good old South park jokes but it feels like the game relies a lot on fan service, The stick of truth also had a lot of fan service but it also had a bunch of original jokes. There were some jokes I was not expecting like the Lap Dance mini game or the Yolanda costume xD but stuff that were supposed to be epic like the Drunk Randy boss fight or the were ultimately dissapointing and boring Also since the game was made by Ubisoft it fall under the curse of microtransactions, expansions and club rewards. There are some funny sidequests but some are just tedius. My advise if you want a good South Park game play Stick of Thruth , if you feel that the Stick of Thruth wasnt enough then get the Fractured But Whole. Veredict of a potato....8/101 point -
I've decided I'm just going to lock this topic as I'm fairly certain that this profile is just a front for promotion and this thread is bait for these exact questions.1 point

Spyro the Dragon
Heatman reacted to Empire Of Sight for a topic
I had no idea they made more past the original trilogy :ooo thats awesome to hear. I was always curious how someone came up with a dragonfly chasing dragon who had to save the kingdom xD Normally dragons were the villains in games/ movies back then. Wait they have it on switch? I've had a switch for about a year and only used it a handful of times.. I think its time to go on a hunt. Well I did play alone most of the time and if I did play with friends it was normally on the 64 playing some 4 player games š Would love to get my hands on a PS1 with some of the retro games though like the original GTA's, crash, and spyro. I'll be honest with you. All I see are colors, numbers, and letters. I have no idea how to read any of that. It's well beyond my comprehension. Now as for what I'm doing this weekend, I'm looking for a spat with a clear view of the sky with as little light pollution as possible to get my telescope out. I've signed up to host a get together, and that was what I chose to do. It's sometime next month, and I just need to find a good place. I have a couple in mind, but haven't been out to fully check them out yet.1 point -

Call of Duty Discussion
kingpotato reacted to Withywarlock for a topic
I probably will... eventually. I no longer feel the need to get into the latest season immediately, especially when either in this game or at some other stage there's going to be a loss of progression from the previous games. Even when I was unemployed I didn't have the time to chase the Battle Pass. No, I'm focussing on my job and hoping that when the campaign comes down in price that'll be worth a go. It's doubtful. As I said in another thread it's just war crime pornography at this point. As @Kane99 says, the fatigue is real. Let it go the way of Guitar Hero for a few years.1 point -

How are you liking the new Dragon ball mechanics? In my opinion the KameHameha is very OP That shit can kill you even with a full shield charge and life bar Btw for the sake of the thread my last game played was fortnite1 point -
I'm living on a budget these days so I don't spend much on games period. It's why I tend to go for gamepass, because it gives me many options for a cheaper price. But even that, I've cut down on because I can't be spending money lately. Once my work picks up though, I might get gamepass again or buy some games even.1 point

Thoughts on silent protagonists?
Withywarlock reacted to Kane99 for a topic
Yeah, the point is to make you feel like you're that character. When they include a voice for example, it implies that is a different person. I like having the option to have a custom character, but if it's a character made by the studio, I think I'd rather they speak at least. I don't remember much about Bioshock, but wasn't the main dude named Booker or something?1 point -

Call of Duty Discussion
Withywarlock reacted to Kane99 for a topic
The whole reason the newest COD sold less and has lost users is probably because of fatigue. I have no interest in playing any of the new CODs these days. I've played most of the games, getting the new ones every year, but I've since stopped because it's not fun anymore, at least for me. Gaming fatigue is a real thing, where you lose interest in a game or series because you have played too much of it. I think with a few years break, I may be interested in jumping back in.1 point -

Alone in the Dark
Knight Plug reacted to Kane99 for a topic
I saw the trailer the other day and I gotta say it looks good. The graphics look top notch, with the voice acting really shining I think. I never played any of the original games, but I have seen some lets plays of the older games, especially the one that dropped on the 360 years ago. Sadly I suck when it comes to horror games. I don't know what it is, because I don't scare easily. I don't think it's about the scare factor, but more to do with how these games control. I remember not getting into Evil Within because it felt too slow in terms of how your character moves. And I have a feeling this game may be slow with the character movements and all that.1 point -
Could VR help mental health?
Gonassis reacted to Withywarlock for a topic
I could see it being used in the same way sensory toys are used for disabled persons. When I was growing up I couldn't be left at home as there were no child-minders, so I had to go with my mum to her workplace at a care home. I'd often be bored so like a lot of the people there, I'd indulge in the watching and playing with the sensory gubbins. VR in a place like that would probably be great for a lot of people once the physical health kinks are worked out like eye-strain and headaches.1 point -

Breaking Bad Creator Says He Tried To Make A Video Game Adaptation
kingpotato reacted to Withywarlock for a topic
I'll apologise for the tone of this post as I'm hot and bothered, but not the message. Let's improve the quality of our contributions to this thread, and all others, please. I could see this working as a Telltale game given the amount of close calls the characters come to arrest, death or just having identities discovered. It was particularly interesting for Walter 'Heisenberg' White to maintain his civilian identity given he's married, his brother-in-law works in the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and he's a school teacher with one of his students being a meth dealer. The problem about the game is that it's done all it needs to do: any other arcs can and will be covered in a spin-off TV show because the Breaking Bad universe is too big to not capitalise on. So what would the game do differently? A fully digitised New Mexico? OK, but that's not going to work with the story of the show. With Jesse Pinkman on the run? What's he going to do that he didn't in El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie didn't? We go around shooting people as Mike Ehrmantraut? If he's not old, he's not Mike Ehrmantraut. There is a case for a Breaking Bad video game, but the immediate answers are the ones we're not going to get. I bet we'll get something like a Narcos-style game: isometric tactical raids on Los Pollos Hermanos, or a Tropico-style management sim with meth. He. Vince Gilligan. It says it in the title of the article and in Kane99's original comment. How will it be better by not being a Grand Theft Auto clone? What sort of game would you like to see Breaking Bad adapted into? That's pretty much how we got the games we do today. We wouldn't have Roguelikes/lites without Rogue. We'd have no Call of Duty without Doom. We'd have no Elder Scrolls without Ultima. We wouldn't have Grand Theft Auto without the Miami Vice game of '86. 'Cloning' in this instance does not mean a 1:1 copy; most users here mean 'clone' to mean an open world game set in the Breaking Bad universe, likely with a lot of gunplay and vehicle physics. Please could you elaborate on this comment? What makes you think what they "do or do not" "might be an epic or great result?" What is your opinion based upon?1 point -

Yeah, by the time I could afford to get a PS5 or a series x, I'll probably be 4-5 years into the generation, and by that point I'm sure there will be talks about a new console for each brand coming. They tend to do 5-10 year support for each new console that drops, so my guess is that it will result in me waiting for yet another new console to drop.1 point

Even though I'm a big fan of gaming on consoles but with this one, I'd say that playing it on PC would give you a better gaming experience with a much great performance and modding which makes it stand out completely.1 point

When i first came here it was to talk about videogames, one thing that was immediately clear to me this is the messageboard i have been looking for years, fellow posters welcomed me when i first joined up like i have been here for years. Everybody is so open and genuine there is no hate and jealousy towards eachother wheter or not somebody has a different oppinion it doesen't end up in a flame war. I may consider myself more video game collector then gamer these days but being part of vgr has worked miracles like getting stoked again on current gen gaming and actually being encouraged to play games that are way out of my zone. I also want to thank @DC, @Shagger and @The Blackangel for their faith and trusting me with this task, i'll try my utmost best to be the best mod i possible can, so if there is ever anything you possibly think i could help out with wheter it's board related or not, do not hestitate to send me a pm.
