Thinking of writing my own book
Techno and one other reacted to Withywarlock for a topic
You're editing your work, meaning you're conscious of problems with it and show a desire to improve your art. That's good, but I'd recommend you just try and write what you can before you edit it. You're not going to perfect your first draft even with edits; there will be more drafts in future which might take your fancy, and you'll want to chop and change them for the final product (before that sees an editor, should you go down that route.) I know doing drafts is a pain, believe me, I've done countless drafts of the same concept for over 15 years, but don't let that put you off your own work. Keep at it. Don't force yourself, but psych yourself up for a set time and at that time you will write, and you will stick at it until whatever time you previously said you would. In the meantime, read more. Whoever your inspiration is, whatever kind of work you're looking at, read similar works to get ideas and the noggin joggin'. Listen to interviews, read articles, understand the material which inspires your work. It's a lot easier to write about what you know and understand. There are other, better forums out there to discuss this, of that I'm sure. I don't engage in them myself, but you'll undoubtedly have better luck there than here. In the meantime, if you can tell us more about the problems you're facing or what improvements you want to make, I and I'm sure other readers here will do our best to help out. Good luck!2 points -
What? First of all all the trailers are not coming out "daily". Their's been maybe 3 or 4 spread over the past couple of years which is not excessive at all. Secondly their initial aim for release (not even an official date) was 2023, which hasn't happened yet. There has been no official delays. People seem to be displaying an obscene lack of patience with this game. This is a independent studio of about 40 people making a game of AAA+ quality during the pandemic in China where the rules are (still) incredibly strict. Give them some fucking time! If this were delayed two years I wouldn't feel right to complain.2 points

The funniest video game
Withywarlock and one other reacted to Yaramaki for a topic
Don't think i ever replied to this thread, so let us change that now, i'll try not to go into obscure games too much this time. I always felt like the humour in saints row felt forced, some characters are likeable like johhny gat but he tries way too hard in later games to be funny that it feels unnatural. Goat simulator while i had a good laugh with it, the novelty wears off pretty quickly. Same with the Borderlands series, it just tries too hard to be funny. A lot of the early lucas arts point and click games like secret of monkey island and grim fadango just to name would be a perfect candidate for funniest videogames because the humour comes naturally, same with the leisure suit larry games (altough not all are great) you can't help but laughing when larry fucks up yet again. Offcourse both south park rpg's are a no brainer if you are a fan of the show, because it's full of typical south park humour. If we think outside the box a bit and name something like Gta 5, especially early game when you play as franklin together with lamar are supposed to be kidnapping a person and you have to take control of chop a dog, man i almost wet my pants when they fucked up yet again and had to let go of the person in the end. Like whenever lamar says something you just have to laugh another legendary conversation i can remember was between trevor and lamar when you have to drive together in a truck alongside franklin with stolen vehicles. Man whenever lamar opens his mouth you just know something stupid and funny will come out of it. The witcher 3, while it's a serious game, in a couple of side missions geralt get's made a complete fool out of himself. Maybe i should add another recent example and that's the outer wilds, from the side characters , your companions to the dialogue choice you can make a fool out of pretty much anybody that you can talk too. It's hard to not have a laugh at some of the whacky choices you can make and above all it feels natural. If an npc is talking for too long or annoying, you can tell them to shut up, just give them a punch in the face or if you feel really adventurous why not just shoot them lol. A couple of others that have not been mentioned before but are bound to make you smile, well if you're not a complete sour puss anyway : Yakazu series Lego City Undercover Bully Two point Hospital and Two point campus (haven't played campus myself yet but from the looks of it, looks to be funny as hell again ) Jak and dexter series Various Fmv games like Night trap and Plumbers Don't Wear Ties just to name two,( if only for the hilariously bad acting) Psychonauts Thimbleweed Park Skate series -> the hall of meat sections and the rediculous ragdoll physics always made me laugh Fable series And let's wrap things up with games that are funny when you are playing with somebody aka local coop -> mario party, wii sports and it's various reincarnations, Overcooked, Monopoly (especially when you are winning always good for a laugh), Mario vs sonic games, 2020 olympic tokyo just to name a few. Don't underestimate the power of playing games with somebody else or even a better a couple of people in the same room because everithing that is remotly competitive can turn out to be a funny experience.2 points -
I'll throw Batman Beyond for the PS1 in the mix as a contender. It's been years since I've played it and I still remember it as absolutely awful.1 point

For a Bully sequel to work, what does it need to do?
Withywarlock reacted to Kane99 for a topic
There has been rumors of a Bully 2 in the making for years now, and at the moment, it doesn't look like Rockstar is working on a sequel. Unfortunate, but that's Rockstar for you, maybe after they make their next GTA, they will make a Bully sequel. But I'm doubtful on that ever happening. If it were to happen, I don't think they would need to do a whole lot to fit in with the times. If anything, Bully was kinda ahead of its time in terms of how you interacted with others. From the geeks, jocks, preps etc. You could be friends with pretty much everyone, date anyone, and so on. I imagine a new Bully will continue that side of Bully, to where you're comfortable with all of the people. I think it will also go into the culture we have going now, from the way people talk these days, influencers, people trying to make changes and so on. There's so much they can take from the real world and fit it right into a video game. I think Bully 2 would be easy for Rockstar to make, it's just that I don't think they care to make a sequel. But I can dream. Maybe one day Rockstar will change their mind and make a sequel. Or hell, at least give us a GOOD remake of these classics, like GTA IV too.1 point -
Ever since Microsoft released the XBox One Pro Controller for their platform gamers have been wondering when and/or if Sony would do the same for PlayStation. There has been a number of third party controllers over the years from the likes of Namco and Razer but nothing from PlayStation themselves... Until now. They have just announced the DualSense Edge, a customisable version of the Dual Sense with swappable thumbsticks, adjustable triggers, custom profiles amoung other features. https://www.pushsquare.com/news/2022/08/sony-reveals-official-ps5-pro-controller-dualsense-edge So what do you think of the Dual Sense Edge?1 point

I own a PS4, and the only reason I was aware of Little Nightmares being a PS+ game was because I update the PS+ into thread. If I didn't do that every month, it would probably have escaped my attention as well as I've mostly been gaming on PC recently. Even I would probably have to check that thread to tell you what was on PS+ right now. You said what you said, and I don't think it justified, but @Justin11 agrees well just let it be and move on, but try not to jump to conclusions.1 point

Favourite hype train?
Withywarlock reacted to Yaramaki for a topic
Not in recent years that i can remember i've been part of a hype train as i'm getting a bit to old for too be hyped about a new videogame/console release. As many of you know adult life is quite busy and you are just to busy with other stuff in general so whenever a game gets released it gets released, while i do follow the latest game releases and latest news a lot of times it just slips my mind whenever a game i'm exited for gets released. I did pick up xenoblade chronicles 3 on launch day but can't say i was counting the days until it got released. Just happen to have a store that sells videogames on my route that day. As far as hype trains go for consoles i'd say the original xbox, it was supposed to be this beefed up pc inside a console and you know the fact i went to hell and back to scrape the money together to be able to buy it on launch was quite an accomplishment, probably wouldn't do it agian tough. Various stores had these preview dvd's as preorder bonuses where you could watch clips from the launch games, i think i must have watched that dvd atleast 50 times by the time the xbox launched. As for a game then let it be tony hawk pro skater 2, this was in a time when nearly everybody was into skateboarding or atleast they tought they were but damn everybody was wearing skate shoes at the time, pants that were way too big and whatnot. Skateboarding was big over here so naturally the sequel to what many including myself at the time considered to be the best game of all time can't go wrong. I remember putting in a pre order months ahead before the games launch, studying every screenshot in detail along the way, trying to get to know the latest information etc. When it launched my god did it live up to the hype, yes it did and the rest is ancient history by now.1 point -
What's the absolute worst game you've ever played?
Lamarr the strelok reacted to Yaramaki for a topic
I've played a lot of worse games but one game that always stood out to me as the biggest garbage i've played over the years was Charlie's Angels on the ps2 the fact that i paid full price for it made it even worse. Yes shame on me i know.1 point -
Thanks for keeping this thread going. It's always tough to remember to check in on Epic. I'm in Steam way more often. Even though Epic has some really choice games available.1 point

Sony FINALLY have their own Pro-controller!
Withywarlock reacted to Empire for a topic
Amazing design I actually love it and I'd like to see adjustable back buttons like for the joy sticks to have 4 back buttons if wanted. Since I'm a fan of 4 back buttons, 2 is a downgrade for me but it seems common for the majority of gamers that are familiar with it.1 point -
Games with most disturbing atmospheres?
killamch89 reacted to Empire for a topic
Alien Isolation. The excellent use of lighting and music, along with the retro sci-fi art style taken straight from the first Alien film, creates a truly unnerving atmosphere that has sent chills up my spine on many occasions.1 point -
Well, @Heatman The game is far from done. 1: No female characters. 2: No bows in the game. 3: The scopes suck every time you shoot the scope blacks out far from realism, Plus they should of made it with Unreal Engine 5. The graphics aren't really that good. COTW is has way better graphics except the animals they all seem to have broken necks and always looking to the right.1 point

I got addicted to dumb dirty videos of Indian Street food
killamch89 reacted to kingpotato for a topic
Yes I have to admit it, it started during the beggining of the pandemic While watching facebook videos I came across some Indian street food clips, they looked interesting until I you notice how fucking nasty those places are, I mean dude is mixing vegetables with the food with his bare hands, no gloves, no water to wash his hands and if they use a rag they will just use the same old brown shit looking rag. And whats worse I cant stop watching them!!!1 point -

kingpotato reacted to killamch89 for a topic
There are a few Indian restaurants here but I've never really tried the Indian Street food before. One thing I do know is that they cook with A LOT of pepper. I mean, I'm fine with spicy food but why so much pepper with the simplest of meals? I bet when they prepare every meal the first instruction after putting water in the pot is to add truckloads of pepper. I thought I was bad with adding lots of hot sauce to everything including ice cream - I'm just kidding by the way about the ice cream thing lol.1 point -

Video Game Streaming Sees Significant Drop In Audience Over Last Quarter

Sonic Frontiers Announced - Think it'll be good?
Withywarlock reacted to killamch89 for a topic
It looks somewhat better than the debut trailer but I have to agree with the others here, the gaming elements just feel out of place like they're trying to replicate a 2D gaming world into an open-world 3D adventure. For instance, some of the original elements like bouncing from trampoline to trampoline feels out of place - my other gripe is that it still seems like he is ice skating.1 point -

Eating with hands is quite normal in man parts of the world though. I have had the opportunity to eat some street food and to honest they test really good, I have eaten the bean cake, massa made from baked rice and eaten with a vegetable sauce really tasty and many too numerous to mention. Some are made on the streets but around areas where it is quite clean looking but some are made near the sewers and drainage paths and places like this is where it becomes quite irritating to buy some street food from.1 point -

The new gameplay trailer looks great. The game's combat system is going to full of fun playing. As for the game still being delayed, they can take all the time they need in my opinion as long as the game comes out good and not a bug mess and the rest of crap that's going to make it unplayable.1 point

General Gaming Discussion
killamch89 reacted to Withywarlock for a topic
It's a ridiculously high price tag, but the cost to make something that looks like the below image can't come cheap. It is made with businesses in mind rather than households; obviously anyone who can spend $35k on a personal VR set up probably earns that money back quickly.1 point -
The official Fortnite Thread
kingpotato reacted to Kane99 for a topic
I just tried the new additions on Fortnite last night. Ended up staying up till 7 am with a friend playing. He likes to play in bot lobbies, so he uses his PS4 account alongside his PC account and since his PS4 one is still level 1, we can get into lobbies with just bots lol. The level 1 player needs to back out though so that account doesn't level up. Cause then it will result in being put in lobbies with real players. We hate playing against real people lol. We like to do challenges and when you got real players it's a lot tougher to do. But yeah the new additions are a blast. The nimbus cloud makes getting around the map faster and of course the Kamehameha is a blast to use.1 point -

Hey there. To answer your question from the other thread...I'm not really into DragonballZ so not really into this part of the season. I do however like this season and the look of it. Some of the new weapons are cool. I haven't played but twice since they added these new things so I haven't had a chance to use them. I just been watching all my friends die during their streams. LOL! The season before last I think when they had the C4 was fun. I killed a guy with it. I like to blow crap up and set stuff on fire. *Grins* I like the DMR and the Primal Shotgun this season. My friends don't like the DMR. It seems anymore the only way to win is to have one long range, one auto & a shotgun and plenty of heals and ways to escape. One of my friends uses an auto and a shotty and keeps the other 3 slots for heals, shield and grapplers/grenade launchers. I can't even get my quests done most of the time. The other day I went into a squad match as a solo and while they killed each other I was trying to find my relics. I found one, killed a guy, spent the rest of the game hidin. I took 4th place. LOL!1 point -

actually tons of cultures across the world eat with their hands. 🤣 after all, that's how our ancestors all would eat, no? like the ancient hunter-gatherers. a lot of asian countries also eat with their hands. hint: (it adds flavor) 🤣 anyway, there's this youtube food channel that I love watching, it's an american guy, whose name is sunny(sonny?) and he was once very fat, but got sick of it, became fit enough, and then travels the world now trying different food from different cultures. he has a great sense of humor too. check his channel for his vids on indian food.1 point -

AHAHA, I grew up in places around asia so I'm used to seeing and knowing certain street food are prepared like that. 🤣 indian food are some of my favorites, though if the place is really really filthy I will avoid it, though if there is a decent crowd and the food is good its fine... there's a certain acceptable compromise for me when it comes to street food of various countries. 😉1 point -

Cooking standards vary wildly all over the planet. This may be the norm and totally acceptable in India. Hell, things like that are done here in the states in some locations. I know when I worked at Pizza Hut, we weren't required to wear gloves or anything. We used our bare hands to make the pizzas. A lot of mom & pop restaurants are like that too. It is what it is. But at least the guy in the video is using his right hand to cook and leaving his left hand away from the food.1 point -
I had a wonderful experience too playing it last weekend with some of my cousins. We didn't finish the whole story , but we would on our next meeting by weekend. I enjoyed how you can be able to determine the possible outcome of the game by your own decisions and choices.1 point

killamch89 reacted to Grungie for a topic
Blockbuster passing up on Netflix looks really dumb now, but at the time, it didn’t look that crazy. I think Netflix was still only a mail order rental place, and who thought streaming would displace rental stores that quickly? I think K-Mart buying Sears was dumb, it was a company on life support and bought another struggling company, and it ended up speeding up the decline of both.1 point -
