Was actually going to post the same to stay ontopic but @Withywarlock beat me to it. This thread has run it's course i guess, unless somebody who is a parent with kids old enough to play videogames here wants to chim in and share their own experiences? I'd love to hear them if you are willing to post them as maybe we could learn a thing or two along the way.2 points

How old to start gaming?
Yaramaki and one other reacted to Withywarlock for a topic
Please stay on topic, folks. The question is "how old to start gaming?" I welcome new threads being made on other subjects, or them being taken to private messages, but we're not derailing this.2 points -
Thinking of writing my own book
StaceyPowers and one other reacted to The Blackangel for a topic
I've written 2 full length novels, several short stories, and a hell of a lot of unconventional poetry. That said, I can offer some advice. I assume you're writing fiction? The first sentence of every story is always the hardest. After that let the story write itself. Never force it. You have to have that itch to get back to writing it. But before you get too far you need to think about a few things. 1) Is it a narrative? 2) Are the characters relatable? 3) What kind of conflict will they be dealing with? 4) Is it told through eyes of a certain character? 5) Have you written a description of all the characters yet? 6) Do you know where you want to go with the story? Have you thought about the beginning, middle, and end separately so you know what you want to tell the reader? 7) Is it engaging enough to keep a person reading? 8.) Can you describe what your story is about to someone who asks? 9) Are you writing just as a hobby, or are you thinking about publishing? 10) Can YOU relate to your characters? For example in my first book, the main character was based off of me. We share a lot of the same attitude and view of the world. The only difference is that my character in that story is male, and I'm female. If you need more just ask and I'll help as much as I can. As a note to what @Withywarlock said, one of my books is currently on its 8th draft ans the other is on its 7th. More drafts will follow. Until it's perfect in my eyes, it will keep getting edits and rewrites. So don't get discouraged if you go to 7, 8, or 100 drafts. If you don't like it where it is, no one else will either.2 points -
Why do you visit a persons profile?

Fitness tracker vs. smart watch
melanie_marie27 reacted to egghead for a topic
What do you use a fitness tracker or a smart watch? Between these two gadgets, which one do you think is more useful? I have never used fitness tracker or smartwatch, but I am thinking one of these and I don't know which one will be better.1 point -
What movie should everyone see at least once?
melanie_marie27 reacted to Heatman for a topic
It's one plot that they have done good justice to by adding cool twists and turns in it by making it have something unique in each release. If they were to lose a footing in the story, we would start seeing repetitive plots and that's going to be its tombstone.1 point -

Of course! All the Halloween movies never feel right without Jamie Lee. And the fact that Michael is "unkillable" (is that a word) haha well, we know there's always a chance the Halloween series can go on forever. 👍👍🔪1 point -

I'm not sure but seriously, I would love to see Jamie Lee make another appearance in the movie. It's going to turn up the heat in the plot development. What do you think?1 point -
Why Does 40% Of Gen Z Identify as LGBT?
Lamarr the strelok reacted to The Blackangel for a topic
@ForwardSlashDownPoke If you continue your homophobic rants, I will recommend you for a ban. I am a lesbian, and your fear and bigotry is not something I will tolerate. Also you will not attack a staff member and call them stupid. Becoming a staff member is not an easy thing to come by. We are chosen by well thought our, intelligent contributions to topics. We are not chosen by lottery. And to quote @Crazycrab either post your sources (that are NOT politically biased) or Get The Fuck Out. We will not allow personal attacks, homophobia, transphobia, or bigotry of any kind in any way. Consider this another severe warning. You're on thin ice right now. You don't want to fall in the water.1 point -

Honestly, anti-piracy tends to make it more of a pain for legit customers than the pirates. Most DRM gets cracked very quickly, so it only deters it for like… 24 hours. I wish I could pirate software at work, and it’s not because I want to save my company money. It’s because it’s less of a pain. Enterprise licenses are jank af.1 point

This is what you would call fake news; at least kinda sorta. You are aloud to clone animals, but it is not legal to splice animal DNA with human DNA and create these types of creates -- which is why they allegedly do it deep underground in secret bases. Pictures are fake though.1 point -
When Your PC Dies
Heatman reacted to melanie_marie27 for a topic
I don't really use my PC all that much anyway.. it's VERY old and can only run if it is constantly being charged. I guess I would just watch YouTube videos on TV or do some forum posting (via cell phone.) Hope your PC is up and running soon. 🙂1 point -
10 video games banned around the world
Empire Of Sight reacted to Kane99 for a topic
I don't know about the last part, but I wish the US stopped loot boxes. It heavily promotes gambling and I wish they would follow some of the other countries that try to ban them from games. I don't mind microtransactions, because you at least know what you're getting, but with loot boxes, you don't get that and in turn could be wasting money.1 point -

Video Game Streaming Sees Significant Drop In Audience Over Last Quarter
Withywarlock reacted to Heatman for a topic
An article on GameRant gave a few more insights as to what these declines have been happening. As for Twitch, it was said that 5 of their streamers have switched to YouTube gaming and even Twitch's new payment structure which would see them earn less is another big factor causing the fall. https://gamerant.com/twitch-streaming-platforms-decline-growth-2022/1 point -

What are your favourite gaming memories from the past?
killamch89 reacted to Heatman for a topic
You see @Kane99, I did that a lot when I was with my cousin. He can be a serious pain whenever I want to play with my brother, so we devised that means to blindside him. The picture below is a perfect description of what we did to him.1 point -
I prefer my foreign games to use the language they are known for. So if it's a Japanese game, I want the cast speaking Japanese. I can read subtitles no problem. But I hate hearing American voice overs for games and movies alike.1 point

What are your favourite gaming memories from the past?
Withywarlock reacted to Kane99 for a topic
One of my other favorite gaming memories, was back playing my nieces and nephews in video games when they were too young to play. Instead of giving them a controller that is plugged in, I would play and make them think they were playing. It always works when they're young enough, but it's also fun when they realize you haven't been plugging it in and they start to catch on. Fun times. 😄1 point -

Did you ever tally your win-loss record against people?
Withywarlock reacted to Kane99 for a topic
True, but I never found them super trustworthy because of how people have hacked leaderboards in the past. Every COD I played resulted in hacked leaderboards with people that I don't think belonged. And even these days I can see some games having hacked leaderboards. So in some way I think it would be a good idea to keep stats yourself just in case they have some graphical glitch that cuts out your total or something. With tech you never know.1 point -

I will start: The Main character wakes up in the middle of the woods, there is a dead body next to him. What do you do next ? (next comment has to reply with the action he takes)1 point -
White Supremacists Infiltrating the Republican Party
NightmareFarm reacted to Reality vs Adventure for a topic
The answer is obvious now if it wasn't already before that republicans have now openly endorsed white supremacy. After the latest mass shooting in Buffalo, NY, where a white guy targeted blacks at a store, dressed in armor, and went on a shooting spree. He also had a racist manifesto and white supremacist belief of the Great Replacement Theory. So now we are at a crossroads where schools are being punished for the accusations of Critical Race Theory and widespread banning of books including math, termination for discussing racism, violence against school boards, and even proposals to jail librarians. On the other hand you have a major media outlet fox news, congress members and other politicians, and domestic terrorism that all promotes Great Replacement Theory. And even after the terrorist shooting in Buffalo, politicians and Fox are still pushing the Great Replacement Theory. Democrats are now proposing gun laws and domestic terrorism laws. Democrats are calling for republicans to denounce the terrorist act and the great replacement theory and they won't do it. Instead, they are amplifying it by republican politicians and by Fox news, more specifically by Tucker Carlson. Basically, republican whites ban awareness of history and racism in schools, while endorsing their own victimhood how they believe diversity is the elimination of whites and immigrants are meant to replace their vote. So in other words, ban immigration, ban every race related issue in schools, pass into law voting suppression and racist gerrymandering, then promote the Great Replacement Theory. I could easily say that the Replacement Theory is what whites are doing to minorities in this country. White nationalistic views are to build a wall at the border and stop immigration and deport any and all legal residents from any non European country. ICE, Immigration Customs Enforcement, is even in the news lately for their unchecked surveillance on Americans. The Great Replacement Theory has now suppressed voting rights targeting people of color, and republicans have put in their own partisan people to oversee elections who have previously tried to overthrow the last election. Republicans have used the Replacement Theory on minorities by drawing up racist gerrymandering districts to give districts of color less voting representation all across the U.S. So that’s what I think about GRT and how its actually put into effect to harm people of color as well as the anti CRT laws. They both are used for the same purpose to promote white supremacy. There are no laws being passed that targets white people, but there are massive amounts of recent laws targeting people of color and the LGBTQ community. So that is the real replacement theory. And republicans have embraced white supremacy. There isn't even a debate about it. White supremacists have infiltrated the republican party.1 point -

Which is scariest?
Gonassis reacted to Reality vs Adventure for a topic
30 years don't compare to the 3 seconds you have frozen into as a demon is spiderwebbed to your ceiling twisting it's head at you. And another pale face rises on the side of your bed. You know you are vulnerable and a claw rises slowly on the other side. Your blanket is being tugged away at the foot of the bed. No where to run. The windows are sealed. The door is open though. But you can never reach it. It mocks you. What then brave soul?1 point -
