Spyro the Dragon
killamch89 and one other reacted to Empire Of Sight for a topic
Tbh crash was such a good game as well, I think it comes down to the quick gameplay, it was an easy transition from the 64 ❤️ I enjoyed both games equally in their own ways though.2 points -
I read more into what they are offering with these voice options and honestly I think it's really cool. Not only will it help with accessibility for some, it could be a useful tool to interact with your game even better. Talking to NPCs and stuff, doing certain commands and so on. It sounds a lot more advanced than what I first thought.2 points

Sony, You Idiots! PS5 Price Increase Announced
Lamarr the strelok reacted to Shagger for a topic
After a video game console has been out for a number of years, price changes are not out of the ordinary, but it's usually the price going down, but now Sony has decided to increase the price of the PS5 in pretty much every region except the USA by equivalent of around $40-$50 US. More from PlayStation Blog. Here's a breakdown of the new prices; Credit to IGN, who first made made me aware of this via this video from Gamescom. They also break down the price increases in more detail, so it's worth a watch. There's only one thing I wanna say, Sony; I don't care about thier excuses revolving around the state of the world economy or inflation, this is same Sony that once sold the PS3 at a $300 loss per unit because they understood how important it was to get the console into peoples homes. The rules have not changed, so why would Sony make a decision that will decrease sales of the console (because it will)? It's not like they ever made much money of the hardware sales of the console itself anyway. More importantly, how can Sony do this to people, especially with this console? A console that has been scarce for buyers to get a hold of and has been scalped to hell? It's almost as if of Sony are punishing thier fans for not being able to buy one yet, like thier fans have done something wrong and it's thier fault. This move is rancid on Sony's part and I'm furious, and I know I won't be alone in this. What makes this more insulting for me is that I had a time slot booked for me by PlayStation to have a guarantee to be able to buy a PS5 yesterday. I didn't do it because money is not in abundance right now, but it feels like a slap in the face. It's like, "Oh, you're not buying on now? Well then fuck you! Now you'll have to pay more when you do want one!". No Sony. Fuck you, and you alone. I hope thier is un uproar and you are forced to reverse this decision.1 point -
Well it looks like this sale is complete, as Embracer Group now owns Crystal Dynamics, Eidos-Montreal, Square Enix-Montreal, and possibly more assets to come. You may have heard a while back that Embracer was attempting to purchase all of these studios. I don't know what Square Enix Montreal does, but I imagine it's not all of Square Enix correct? Eidos Montreal I believe made Hitman for example. It's said to include 50 other back catalog games, so we might be seeing some old titles from these studios making a comeback. Would be cool. Here's their press release on this: https://embracer.com/release/embracer-group-completes-acquisition-of-crystal-dynamics-eidos-montreal-square-enix-montreal-amongst-other-assets/1 point

Petition for Sony to approve Days Gone 2
Heatman reacted to killamch89 for a topic
I'd like them to do that as well but there was a report that came out a few years back that Sony will concentrate on the series that make them the most money such as Last Of Us and that's why you see them prioritise the LOS remake over a lot of other great series they have because it makes them more money.1 point -
How often do you buy video games the week they release?
Gonassis reacted to killamch89 for a topic
I did get RDR2 when it came out on Xbox One the first week but that's about it. I usually wait for reviews and a reasonable deal before I buy any modern games - it has saved me from many disappointments like GTA trilogy edition.1 point -
Has adapting to new games gotten easier for you the longer you’ve gamed in general?
Heatman reacted to killamch89 for a topic
For selected things in-game, I wouldn't mind voice commands like the Dragon shouts in Skyrim for instance. I can also seeing it being helpful for physical challenged people who are probably paralyzed from the neck down. However, I'd rather not play the whole game hands-free.1 point -
Petition for Sony to approve Days Gone 2
killamch89 reacted to Yaramaki for a topic
It's a shame because days gone was one of the best exclusives on the ps4, not only did it have a great story and was it really fun to play especially with the constant threat from freakers on higher difficulties. The world was also a joy to explore aswell and deacon is a likeable character and i feel like there is so much potential as to what more you can do in that days gone world, maybe sony needs to do a beefed up ps5 version in a few years to see if there is still in interest in the franchise before deciding to give up on days gone all together.1 point -
It's not just Square Enix only that trying to move everything to NFTs and it's not a good sight for us gamers to see them go down that path. We are going to be the one's suffering it for a long period of time while they make their cool money off of us. Ubisoft is pushing for the same thing with NFTs too.1 point

Spyro the Dragon
Empire Of Sight reacted to Withywarlock for a topic
They don't get any better after the first ones (not even the reignited trilogy does much to bring in people who thought differently about Spyro). If you can get Enter the Dragonfly on Gamecube (or the Dolphin emulator), that's a decent entry but stretches out the basics of Spyro beyond what it should be, and it's not even that long a game either. A Hero's Tail is fine but it's not like the other Spyro games. I'd only recommend that if you want something similar but freshened up by a new gameplay philosophy. If you really want a generic PS2 platform game The Legend of Spyro trilogy is a reboot with more story, celebrity voice acting, and the hallmark of PS2 platform games: crap combat. Skylanders isn't really a Spyro game, it's more just an ARPG with lots of characters with mildly different moves, and they're not particularly challenging games either so it's not like you need tons of them. One of each element will suffice and they're as cheap as chips on the used market. Those are the only games I recommend to someone who isn't fanatical for more Spyro. I hope that helps!1 point -

I didn't watch the main video and seldom watch that hack Dr. Phil. I'm not a perfect parent at all but if that was my kid His console would be taken away and he'd be pulling weeds in the yard for a few hours every day for a while . The important thing is it's worthless parenting. And the kid didn't just start that shit at the age of 12. He was allowed to do this type of shit from about the age of 2.I've seen this kind of worthless parenting and it's ALWAYS the parent's fault. Kids' job is to try getting away with everytrhing and it's the parents job to discipline their kids and not allow a kid to run their household.Your kids aren't your friends. They're your kids.Make them listen .1 point -
What's the absolute worst game you've ever played?
Lamarr the strelok reacted to Crazycrab for a topic
Nope, that's the entire arcade mode (campaign)! This was obviously an experienced player who knew where to go so a first time player would probably be about 45 minutes to an hour. Also there's a secondary survival horde mode that puts you in a gauntlet against waves of enemies but that is still inexcusable.1 point -
Wait a second, I just realized something. This isn't EA Sports PGA Golf game. I didn't know that 2K was making golf games, now I'm kinda curious. How the hell did I miss this? This is the third 2K PGA Tour game right? I think they took the license during 2K21. Oh wait, EA is still doing their own PGA Tour game.1 point

What's the absolute worst game you've ever played?
Crazycrab reacted to Lamarr the strelok for a topic
I was thinking you guys and gals were maybe being unfair to older games because of their older tech. Then I saw the Veronica video and changed my mind. That game looks like it's a ps1 game.Duck hunt had better weapon handling. None of the guns even have a reticle! It was so bad I couldn't help but watch the whole 28 minute video. The actual game is longer than 30 minutes though right? Just hilariously awful. My worst game I've played is from Atari called you are empty. I got it for PC when gamestop had pc games on disc.My PC exceeded the requirements but it would crash often during the first screen before the game even started. I was able to play it a bit and it was sorta cool but the game would just crash almost all the time.It was so bad I didn't even bother bringing it back to gamestop. I bought it for under 10 bux.I still have the disc and box for it and it's so bad I had to keep it. I think I've seen more doors in that 26 minute video of Veronica than I have in over 40 years of gaming. Just awful.1 point -
I think it was more than the poor reviews. It was probably due to them not making a ton of money off if it. I don't know the sales totals, but I can't imagine it sold like God of War or Uncharted levels. But it still sold fairly good from what I remember, just not enough to warrant a sequel I guess. Maybe they realized a sequel wouldn't live up to the first one.1 point

Forgot to mention I'm pretty hyped for A Plague Tale: Requiem, really enjoyed the first game and I have a feeling I will enjoy the sequel as well. It's only a couple months away. Not sure if I'll be getting it day one, but it'll be on my radar for when it goes down in price.1 point

Amazon's adding voice-powered gaming to big name games with Alexa Game Control
killamch89 reacted to Heatman for a topic
These companies are always in the habit of buying up smaller companies and merging it with their own in order to make their company is bigger. It has been the order of the day for a very long time now, it's why we were able to see Microsoft purchase Activision Blizzard recently.1 point -
Spyro the Dragon

Adding to what @Shagger, games have also been "dumbed down" in more recent years. For instance, puzzles in older platforming games tend to take a lot more thought than more recent titles.1 point -

I hope that's what they're like. I still worry about big companies like this and how they run things. But if they can do good on protection for workers and allow due time for development to happen. As well, they said there was 50 other ips they got in the purchase, so if they start to produce content from some long gone series, I'm all for that. Just don't be an EA, Ubisoft, Activision, Blizzard, Rockstar just to name a few. Lol1 point

Reminds me of a documentary on obese children I watched... *sighs every single time the child whined about letting him having more candy food, or sugary drinks, the parent would either give in immediately, or say no for a bit but then still give the kid junk food. the kid was very very fat, and not even 10 years old yet... that's waaaaay unhealthy. 🤷♂️🤦♂️ but parents just let them be. 😑1 point -

Lamarr the strelok reacted to Empire for a topic
Any negative effects from video games can mostly be the parents fault. I absolutely don’t get how parents blame games when they fail to be a parent and monitor what their kids do online or what video games they play. We have rating systems for them but they ignore it anyway, and refuse to teach their kids right from wrong so the kid doesn’t learn fucked up things. As with most hobbies and entertainment, moderation is key. Yet parents never teach their kids this.1 point -
I wish they'd make more music making games
killamch89 reacted to Yaramaki for a topic
The problem with creating a music making "game" is that it's going to be very hard to come up with a combination between videogame and software i'd say it's damn near impossible to have a mix of both, sure you could add an indept tutorial but it's still going to be software, offcourse you could always add a campaign of some sort but then you probably have to strip out features so anybody could "play" it. Say a company makes a "game" like this, one huge factor to consider is copyright infringement because you're damn right some clever bastards are going to find a way to share copyrighted music and it probably could infact turn into the next kazaa or napster just to name a few. It's doubtfull any company could handle the headache it would cause resulting in a couple of lawsuits here and there. The next question is who on earth would want to make music on a console, when you have literally hundreds of programs avaible on pc (even some for free) that would do a much better job then any "video game" ever could. Now to stick to the topic at hand i know off Xbox music mixer for the original xbox, i have a japanese copy that includes a dvd on how to use it but i'm not 100% sure if you can actually make music with it, since it's heavy reliant on online sharing between pc and xbox a lot of features are unusable these days. Others i can think but sadly i can't say much about them are Traxxpad and Beaterator for the sony psp i have both of them at my parents place maybe i should try em out sometime soon. I'm sure there are a couple on the nintendo ds aswell but i can't say for sure what they are called. I do know one game had a simple piano addon that you could hook up in the gba slot of your ds i think it was called easy piano. Had to google it because it's name eluded me but there is always Korg Gadget for the switch if you want to start music career which seems much more advanced then anything i've seen before on a console.1 point -
Do your pets sit with you while you game?
killamch89 reacted to The Blackangel for a topic
The dogs do a lot. My pitbull and smallest chihuahua climb up on me and take a nap. The rats like to climb around on the keyboard if I'm at the computer. One of them accidentally sent an email when I wasn't watching. It was hilarious. The bird on the other hand, attacks my fingers when I'm gaming. She absolutely HATES when I game. So I have to choose to either game, or hold the bird.1 point
