Hi everyone. I was looking for a new community to settle down in and found this place via Google. I enjoy RPGs and adventure games, particularly games where your choices affect the story like Mass Effect and Detroit: Become Human. I got into Shin Megami Tensei games recently and I'm currently playing through Devil Survivor: Overclocked on my New 3DS. Aside from gaming, I also like to binge-watch older TV shows like The Sopranos and The Wire, but I haven't had much time to do that ever since I got into the SMT-binge. Oh well. Feel free to ask me any question so that we can know each other better. 🙂 I hope to see you guys around soon.3 points -

I gotta give props to the people who make these wild creations in Minecraft, especially taking 6 years of their life to make something such as this. This person decided to make an as close as possible replica of Hogwarts as they could. The creator used the likes of video footage of the movies and photos as well. Content-related deal-breakers in deciding to play a game?
Withywarlock reacted to Kane99 for a topic
I don't mind quicktime events that aren't frustratingly long and annoying. I can handle them sometimes, but it's when they go on too long or don't stop and have annoying checkpoints. Or are the simon says style quicktime events where they have different levels of difficulty. That's not fun for me.1 point -

Thanks! 🙂 I really need to get back to watching The Wire and The Sopranos someday. I had to stop when I went on my SMT binge, pausing all the shows I was watching. I just got started watching season 2 of both Wire and Sopranos too (and season 2 of Breaking Bad as well). The Wire is a tough show to watch though because of its pacing. lol I had to replay certain scenes sometimes because I would miss out on what the characters were talking about. It's easier to follow the show though than say... Mad Men, which I was also watching season 2 of.1 point -

This is where our individual differences and preferences kicks in. I have been bored to death with what EA have been doing with their FIFA games for years. Now comes the concept behind the development of Rocket League. The difference it's got from actual football game is what makes it a continual play game for me.1 point

If you ever played simulation games for too long, they always tend to bore you out. It's why I don't spend too much time on them. The DLC was a good escape that adds a little bit of fresh air into the game. It's only Microsoft Flight Simulator that never bored me no matter how much I played it.1 point

I'm always thriller by anything that's related to magic and spells. It's one of the biggest reasons why I'm so interested in the game. I never missed any of their old and new movies. Slytherin have always been my favourite house - I love the sense of doing evil that's linked to the house.1 point

Some video games doesn't just click with you no matter what you do or how many times that you try to force play it. It's happened to me with quite a few number of games and I knew right away that there's no point in try to push it.1 point -
I never found it any easier either when I played it. I hope you're making progress? I'm have been playing Gran Turismo 7 all day.1 point

Sounds great. 😄 I am enjoying the SMT games so far, so I'm glad to see more fans around. No kidding. Devil Survivor in particular is consuming the most of my time so far with its annoyingly tricky victory conditions. I can't even rely on the typical Atlus paid DLCs to boost my level up for an easier game because there is none for DeSu. It reached a point where I just feel like giving up on cracking the skills during battles and just get it over with by defeating the enemies ASAP, regardless of whether I've succeeded in cracking the skills. Thanks. Looking forward to seeing you too. 🙂1 point

Long term members will likely know how I feel about this already, but for the rest, games with no difficulty options are stupid. People have the right to get want they want out off the games they buy. If someone is more interested in story and exploration over combat and challenge, they should be able to tailor that experience. Likewise if somebody finds a game to be too easy and less engaging as a result, the are within thier rights to make it more challenging and satisfying to play. Contrary to what the "Git Gut" pricks say, having difficulty options creates challenging experiences in games, not deny them it. Having these options available also puts developers in a place where they actually have to put the effort onto all these aspects of the game, so the game itself is just generally better for it. Better stories, more interesting game worlds, better gameplay, only good thigs for everyone can come out of games having difficulty options. However, focusing only on difficulty for a game with no difficulty options usually makes a game worse. When making a game as hard as possible in this mantra, the game becomes cheap and unempowering to play. When trying to hard to make it easy, the player engagement suffers and the game becomes boring and and you care less about what's going on. In some types of games like platformers, some bullet hell games, puzzle games, multiplayer, interactive narratives or games made for young children, it does make sense to not have difficulty options, but otherwise the only reasons developers don't include difficulty options is laziness, sheer arrogance or both. Fuck games that do this for no good reason. They are worse than other, similar games just for doing this and also worse as a result of doing this as they are made by people who do not have thier priorities straight from minute one. It's not like I don't enjoy a challenge, for example I can't play Horizon Zero Dawn on any difficulty other that Ultra Hard anymore, but because that game can be made playable for people only interested in the story and exploring the open world, it's a better game than anything from From Software (Even thier name is annoying, do they seriously think that's funny?). I would be more forgiving of thier games if difficulty was genuine instead of the cheap and cryptic "trial and error" approach they use instead. They are sluggish, crippling and limiting in terms of control, something that is again done on purpose create a false challenge, with enemy combat strengths and weaknesses and aspects of the the environment that serve as beginners traps. Whereas in Horizon ZD, you are given all the info you could want about the enemies as soon as you scan them, offered a wide variety of weapons and combat strategies and the game is empowering in the way it controls with swift, purposeful movement and instant, connected reactions. They do that and still mange to make a challenging game. The benfit of that is that every triumph and every mistake you own complexly, unlike when I played Demon Souls and Bloodbourne where I either felt robbed or "got lucky" that time after every fight. I hated it.1 point

My brother (who I share an apartment with) bought one this spring, and it's been really nice. The Demon's Souls remake blew me away so I'm very excited for the future. I think the controller is one of the best I've ever used. Sorry to hear that. It always sucks when life gets in the way like that, a similar thing happened to me a while back and it's never fun.1 point

I've already pre-ordered this on the PS5 because it contained a bonus quest available on the platform. Plus, open world magic school; I'd say it's about time. I'm not a big HP fan either (I find the latter half of the movies kinda boring with their YA romance/drama), but just the idea of being able to attend a magic school like Hogwarts kinda draws me in... plus I always found the discussions of "which House do you belong in?" interesting (I was often slotted into Ravenclaw/Hufflepuff), so I'm glad that we can finally get slotted into those Houses for real this time.1 point

I generally don't tell people I watch anime, because even in modern communities, especially Discord, people still make fun of you for being a "weeb." Haha I think its always good to try something to see if its something you're into 😄 What did you try to work on anyway? Thanks btw ^.^ Yay the trailer is my first attempt at making a trailer so its kind of rough , thanks for being gentle on me and not roasting too much haha. Yesir , it's a little different than normal NFTs since these aren't sold by us but collected by the players who get them from a drop table in game and we offer free minting on 2 different blockchains so its no cost for the players. They can buy them, sell them, use them, collect them etc. They are unique because only NFTs are visible on your character outside of its original appearance. You can get "virtual items" but they just provide attributes to your stats and not the visible appearance. Its like this because I had the characters made from scratch and the NFTs so whenever you make them you have to create animations for each individual hero and item so it would be nearly impossible to recreate virtual items in the same way. In terms of blockchains and NFTs there's a tonnnn of bad actors out there.. It was a new phase and a bubble so it attracted a bunch of really negative intentions which drew even more negative attention haha. NFTs need real use cases and have a ton of potential, I chose to use NFTs because I plan to make a few other games once this one is completed, by using NFTs it allows players who own an NFT in one game to use it in another game! So lets say you have a favorite sword or pet in 1 game you can transfer it to another game by just having the NFT in your blockchain wallet. It allows for easier development by pulling "metadata" and just adding it to the new DB of a different game instead of actually having to recode it into the hard code of the game itself! The blockchain and NFTs are super useful if you actually use them for their intended purposes. We aren't even offering a "cryptocurrency" for the games right now and may never do so. Right now the focus is simply on integrating a useful technology and hope that people enjoy playing the games we make ^.^ Thanks for the wishes Kane 😛 Well the Prototype will be live within the next 72 hours based off current development phases, but its just a prototype which is like a live public version of Beta but people can still collect NFTs / learn the game while helping us better balance and stress test the servers. Polishing hmm. Well the main game itself will go live in November and it has enough work to keep an army of developers busy xD We have 95% of the main game map complete in terms of design and the backend will be complete once we launch the Proto. We actually made the proto so we could design the backend and blockchain portions without waiting until the entire game was completed. It was a better way to streamline production / test as we go so when we launch the main game its perfected as far as it can be in real time. A roadmap is a little different for us as we are new to it, we ended up having to work backwards on our "roadmap" in so many ways since we didn't anticipate the workloads or workflow of certain aspects of the game design 😄 Right now I'm actually designing the main games crafting tables, drop chances, etc etc since I'm already finished with the prototype, the developer is just finishing up blockchain stuff for the prototype and then he will switch over to the main game with me as soon as we launch the proto. If anyone wants free access to the game Id be more than happy to get some accounts created with pre activated passes so you guys dont have to do the blockchain stuff ^.^ P.S I didn't expect any replies so I wasn't following the thread XD1 point -

Linux, Unix, Dos. What the hell is the difference?
Lamarr the strelok reacted to Kane99 for a topic
A distro or distribution is just a different version of Linux. Since Linux is free & open source, anyone can make their code and alter it into their own version of Linux and call it whatever they want, that's essentially a distro. There are many different Linux distros from; Ubuntu, Debian, CentOS, Arch Linux, Red Hat, OpenSuse, Gentoo, Fedora and more. A lot of them do much of the same, as they replicate how Windows machines work with their GUI (guided user interface). But it's much different when it comes to installing apps and all that. I think of it like having different flavors of Linux. With Windows for example, they are closed source I believe, where only MS and certain licenced companies can put out their version of the OS, and very little can modify it. With Linux, you can modify pretty much anything you want with it. I like to also think of it as anyone being able to make their own operating system. I really like Linux, because it allows you to get away some from Windows and it's horrible update options and other problems. The only downside with Linux is that it's kinda tough to get games to work proper. It can be done, but it's not always easy. Thankfully Steam and other marketplaces are starting to support Linux gaming.1 point -
What's the absolute worst game you've ever played?
Lamarr the strelok reacted to Crazycrab for a topic
There was an arcade unit but only in japan. I'm not really harping on the game for being short because, like you said, it's in the same ball park in terms of game time as Time Crisis or House of the Dead. I'm harping on it for being shit! for the sake of perspective I'm going to tell a little story. I always remember as a kid I was at a holiday park that had an arcade area and in there was as a machine for Time Crisis 2. I was playing it with one of my brothers and we were doing pretty well. We'd gotten to maybe half way through where we, inevitably, started to run out of lives and continues. It wasn't often you see people get this far and by this point a small crowd had gathered around the machine, I figured it was just some people waiting in line but then, without us asking, some of them actually started to put in money out of their own pocket so we could keep playing! Thanks to the contributions from our unexpected sponsors we ended up beating the game. So why did these people pay for someone else to play an arcade machine? It wasn't because of us, it was because they wanted to see the rest of the game, to know what happens. I know this because later in the week I saw the same thing happen several times. That's the mark of great when you can get people even for a short while, that invested in it. Now @Kane99, I don't really know what the arcade version of Resident Bitch Code 2 Balls X (I can't be bothered to remember the title anymore) was like but I'm going to a wild guess that it didn't get the reaction that I observed with Time Crisis 2. I mean if you were in an arcade and you watched some play Code Veronica's Zombie Lap dance would you pay to see level 4? Almost certainly not. If the arcade was even half decent money maker they'd have surely released it outside Japan. So fuck Capcom's President's Lively Wasteland Survival Guide, both versions, Hard copy and Paperback!1 point -

What you are saying is that you are some left wing piece of complete utter trash who is having a meltdown because I criticized literal drag queen lard asses dressing up in drag and dancing in front of children while being protected by armed militias of violent left wing retards who should be in prison. I get banned from every single left wing video gaming board and I have more to offer this board that 10 versions of some left wing clown like you combined. If you'd like to debate me out in public on LIVE radio, I would embarrass you in front of all of your clown friends. You have zero authority to warn anyone as I own my own business, radio show, video gaming forum, have multiple world records, straight A's in college, and 57 competitive gaming #1 ranks. All little clowns like you do is hide behind a computer like a little ho and run your mouth about republicans in an internet bubble. As soon as somebody criticizes your PROVABLY FALSE beliefs, you have a little hissy fit and a meltdown then try to ban the opposition like Hitler. No need to ban me, bitch. I would be more than happy to stop posting at this left wing shithole voluntarily if your shitty ass left wing website (that has literally no viewers) does not even tolerate Republican perspectives. You're a fucking loser ass dirtbag. You'll have like 16 regular posters on your board with thousands of registrants. You are a clown... killamch89 reacted to melanie_marie27 for a topic
As a current sufferer of motion sickness (one elevator ride keeps me swaying for the rest of the day) 😣 I'm thinking I probably wouldn't do too well with it. But I do wonder if VR could become so popular in the future that people will become less and less in touch with reality, almost as a constant escape. The more and more that happens, the less people will feel like interacting with real people in the real world. In a way, becoming more socially withdrawn, unknowingly. In general, I've noticed people's interactions in stores, restaurants, gas stations, etc. seem a little short and distracted. People don't really "talk" all that much anymore, well, not as much as they used to. Just a slight observation..1 point -

But if it's something I just can't figure out on my own, and I have sat there for a while trying to figure it out, I'll use a walkthrough just to get to the next point.
