  1. This is the official Member of the Month - September 2022 Nominations Thread. The winner will receive 500 VGR Forum Points which can be used in Bid for Rewards. Member of the Month is generally awarded to the individual who had the biggest impact on the VGR Forum. This is generally in the form of contributing the most amount of posts in terms of quantity and/or quality, but can extend to referrals/promotion and other efforts to benefit the community. You only nominate 1 member and you cannot nominate yourself. @Empire Of Sight won August MOTM and thus is not eligible for this month. Nominations end September 30 at 10pm EST then a new thread will be created for voting. Please keep all thread replies strictly to nominations - no anecdotal discussions/comments.

  2. Sneak Energy drink, without sugar, is the best energy drink out there. I still prefer the powdered form as I can be able to buy more of it and store. It can sustain you for more than 40 minutes when you are playing one of your favorite games or doing an activity that requires more energy. I truly recommend it.

  3. There are several other ways you could possible use as gaining additional points, why not have a game challenge, we used to have these high score challenges on other forums but i doubt this would work here as not everybody would have the same game. Why not try something like where a member could possible earn points for completing a game, it's fairly easy to prove these days where you show a picture of your tv or whatever else providing the date and achievement/trophy or just plain proof aslong the date is there that you beat the main story of a game and get a few points as reward. Or maybe Dc can give out some points where he feels like they earned it by contributing good posts to vgr on a consistent basis. Having a member of the week is probably pushing it but i feel like the member of the month idea i previously suggested would already be a good start. Say you get a game trough bid for rewards send in proof you played it and why not beat it and get your points back. Maybe do a quiz from time to time where the answers are not easy to find but have been posted on the board and reward those that read troughly like for example what genre of music does shagger like most or what is an animal theblackangel would not kill in a videogame, what is justin11 his favourite team, How many games has yaramaki bought in june, what is withywarlock his favourite game etc etc. I'm just making this up as i go as brainstorming always seems to help others come up with some ideas.

  4. I hear you @Yaramaki. I to take much more pride in having my posts read and apricated rather than the sheer number I post, but the point I think @Techno was making, and he is right, is the the points system in essence rewards people for posting in quantity rather than quality. That could be considered a problem and what may have lead to the "post farming" problem in the first place.

  6. I nominate @Empire Of Sight, been a plus for VGR since signing up, always bringing quality posts whenever online.

  7. I don't really see anything wrong with the current points system to be honest, it's not that it overly matters to me as i never came here to get free stuff as i came here because i wanted to talk about videogames and it's culture . I think i've got 2 switch games so far trough the bid for rewards program, while these are neat rewards and a nice gesture from dc, it should not be the main motivation to keep posting here and to me it never will. One thing you could do is make a overhaul of the Member of the month and reward second and third place also with some points, it would be more motivating especially for newer members that their posts are appreciated here and we want them to continue to post here. Maybe something worth considering @DC what do you think? If you are going to do a shop i'd probably say some vgr merch would be cool but i don't know i'd just rather buy it myself instead because you know some vgr merch would be cool tough. Yeah i wouldn't mind wearing a shirt that says Proud Moderator at vgr.com bitches or something along those lines lol. But i'll take anything i can get really even if it's cosmetics for the forum. I think the reputation is fine as it is and i'm probably the only one who sees it more as how reputable somebody their posts are as in quality posts, my goal is to reach 500 reputation by the time i hit 1000 posts, so far i'm on course. If i could reach it that means half my posts were liked and that is enough to put a smile on my face and to keep me motivated to continue putting time and effort into my posts, even if some take me over half an hour to write.

  8. To me, if it is even possible to level your character up in such a way that they feel weak, then it's a sigh that the game (or at least the levelling system) isn't very good. It should be possible to make it work with any kind of build within the boundaries of the game with, obviously, employing the correct play style and tactics. So in answer to the OP's question I suppose that's answer, adopt and experiment with other play styles and tactics, but if a game is more rewarding to one kind of build or play style over another, that's a sign of a problem. The Elder Scrolls games are bad for this. I remember myself and @Crazycrab posting on what was one of your topics on Oblivion ages ago @StaceyPowers talking about how the levelling system in that game was so messed up it could weaken you compared to the enemies in the game if one got it wrong. I've linked the thread in question, so I won't go into such detail again, but I did mention Skyrim's system was much better. It's true, it is, but that doesn't mean it doesn't have it's own problems. Weapon skills, blacksmithing and enchanting, those are the key to being powerful in combat in Skyrim. Do it any other way, and you're doing it wrong. One can become so overpowered so easily. Forget about using magic in combat especially, you simply can't do even close to the same amount of damage. Ironically though, in the higher levellers, the mages you fight against in Skyrim are deadly, even when wearing armour with some serious magic defences enchanted in, the whole magic system in the game is horribly balanced.

  9. I would have been biased if my team Manchester United was playing Champions League this season because I would have loved my team and CR7 to win it but with us being out of the competition, Messi would be my next best pick for winning it. Manchester City is capable of doing it too with Halaand leading their attack.

  11. Most of these video games companies have given up on being creative and unique when it comes to their games development. It's mostly copies and improved graphics that they are very good at now. Only in game's aesthetics is where they have worked on extensively with finding several ways to cash in on the games whether it's worth it or not.

  12. I would like to nominate @Justin11 because he helped me find a good anime streaming site that I've so desperately needed.

  13. He wasn't good at protecting his money, as he would often leave it sitting around his room. His sisters knowing this, often stole a few bucks here and there, so he came up with the idea to hide the money in his games, as his sisters hated video games anyway. I mean, he could have simply hid the money somewhere else, or idk put it in a wallet and hid that, but he liked the idea of hiding money in there, as they never would have guessed anyway. I actually hid a letter I got from a girl I had a crush on, by hiding it in my PS2 expansion slot. I also hid it in a NES console, to which my brother found and made fun of me lol. Good times.

  14. That's a problem of mine. I am someone who is not a fan of reading countless mentues and having to read into what stats and all that does. I remember when I started Dark Souls the first time. I made a guy who was fat and of course this made him slow, or I think it did, I don't remember. Anyway I quit pretty quickly because I figured my character wouldn't do me good. But jokes on me, as I gave up on Dark Souls pretty fast.

  15. @Yaramaki Do you think you might try Sneak while working to see if it helps you have energy and focus for work? @Withywarlock Are you sure itโ€™s the recipe that makes it seem powdery, not the way you mixed it? @Heatman Not my cat. She sounds like a boulder crashing down whenever she jumps off of anything lol

  16. I'm kind of bummed that it's taken this long, when I know that I'm not going to be wowed in the same way as with BotW because it'll still be "just a sequel" in its core, so the hype has kinda fizzled out for me. It'll probably still be fun, but I'm kind of hoping that the next Zelda game after this won't just be more of the same since it sold so well, mainly because it'll fall into the same rut Aonuma complained about up until the release of BotW.

  17. what game? A tabletop game? ๐Ÿ‘€ sounds cool lol. "The adventurer picks up the sock with the name on it and brings it to the dragon to patch it's wound. He notices that the dragon has lit a fire with its breath, so he sort of understands and adds twigs to the fire, it surges up brighter, lighting up the surroundings" "The adventurer now takes a closer look at the dragon's wound, still feeling unsure of himself, but deciding that this tending takes priority, he decides that the sock is not enough for it, so he rips off his longshirt's sleeve to make a bandage for the wound." "the dragon stays still enough for him to do so, and when he finishes he says..." What does he say, and what does he do next... (comment the next scene)

  18. Haha I'll get on with the topic but the way this is starting is similar the storyline for my game xDD except its a girl who wakes up in a dungeon not knowing where she is or who she is surrounded by purple eyed creatures xDD "The adventurer approaches the dragon, questioning if its safe , as he reaches the dragon he notices a small wound under its right ear, the fear leaves him and feels sorrow for the beautiful but damaged creature. He searches around for something to patch the dragons wound , the dragon notices the adventurer searching the dimly lit clearing and breaths a small breath of fire to ignite a small pile of dry brittle kindling"

  20. The main character tries to remember where he is and what he is doing, he finds out he can't even recall his own name. he spots a sock on the ground, it has a name embroidered on to it. It says "Ben", he still doesn't recall anything, except that spell he mumbled earlier that apparently summoned a dragon, which just now landed into the clearing a few meters off, scaring away all the yellow eyed creatures lurking in the shadows. he starts walking toward the dragon a bit unsure of what to do next. What do you do next ? (next comment has to reply with the action he takes)

Honestly would be down to see this game getting some online options. Would really help the games replayability I think. Sadly I don't think they will ever do that, or if they did, it may be in a sequel instead. I would welcome DLC coming out, but I have a feeling they won't do that. But, I could be wrong.

  22. He checks his potions and weapon wheel only to find it empty so he conjures his old friend who owns the sky. While waiting, he notices the body has claw marks and a shriveled body. That points to none other than the marrow suckers. He notices big yellow eyes everywhere staring at him in the trees. Everything else is covered by leaves and branches. The whole forest has these creatures waiting in the trees. Off in the distance, that looks to be a dragon dashing through the clouds.

  23. The ads on the platform are definitely getting more intrusive, they are clearly trying to push people onto YouTube Premium. I refuse to use add blockers because it harms creators but it getting annoying.
