Silent Hill fans can go cry in a corner...
killamch89 and one other reacted to Withywarlock for a topic
@Crazycrab's tone aside, their message is sadly correct. Leakers don't have the full context for the content they're leaking, and what may have been true at the time can easily change moments later due to the sheer complexity of development. This is assuming they're telling the truth, and recently we've seen a huge debacle over an 'industry insider' being a regular Johnny Youtuber. I'm not going to doubt this Dusk fellow any more than I would other leakers, but the trust I place in them - however correct their past claims have been - is little to begin with. I'm disappointed for you and all the Silent Hill fans eagerly awaiting a new game, but my sympathy can only extend so far when that eagerness is hedged on hearsay and dubious screenshots/video footage. The times have changed so dramatically, where even hands-on gameplay days before release can be totally unrepresentative of what the final product is, so it's hard for me to say "until [x], [y], and [z] happens you should be cautious."2 points -

You Can Only Save One Person, Who Do You Choose?

There are three people hanging off the edge of a cliff, a child, a middle aged man, and a elderly grandfather. You can only save one person, the other two will fall. Who do you choose?1 point -
I may have to do that for some games, especially something like Dark Souls, as I can never get good at it haha. I've played a fair deal of the beginning, but once I got to one of the first "real" bosses, I kinda gave up. But, if I knew how to build the best character for the job, I may give the game and series another go. 😄1 point

Silent Hill fans can go cry in a corner...
killamch89 reacted to Kane99 for a topic
I think the only way is to reform Team Silent and have them make Silent Hill again. They made the best SH games out of all of them SH 1-4. So just having Konami and some random development team make a new Silent Hill wouldn't be to my liking, at least. I know fans would want a good development team working on a new Silent Hill. I would like to see Kojima and team do a new Silent Hill, but that will never happen under Konami. Leaks need to be taken with a grain of salt. We need to stop automatically believing they are 100% true. Half the time you're probably going to get lies or fake news. Sometimes they're true, like with the recent GTA 6 leak, but most leaks are often hoaxes or fake or nothing of importance.1 point -

Silent Hill fans can go cry in a corner...
Knight Plug reacted to killamch89 for a topic
To be honest, I'm glad that Konami hasn't decided to ruin the Silent Hill series by making a game themselves. We should take this as a good thing - I mean, have you seen or heard about Metal Gear Survive? Yeah, I thought as much... Unless someone else is making it, I don't want Konami ruining what bit of nostalgia I have left for the IPs they have in their possession like Silent Hill, Castlevania and Metal Gear. @Withywarlock makes a great point that these "leaks" have been nothing short of a witch hunt. We still haven't gotten anything concrete to say that another Silent Hill game was coming. It was all fan enthusiasm and some other gaming companies exploited it like - I forgot the name of the company but we were discussing this up to a year or so ago.1 point -
Silent Hill fans can go cry in a corner...
Knight Plug reacted to Crazycrab for a topic
NO!!!! Really!? The Silent Hill rumours that I and everyone else semi-sensible been saying were bullshit this entire time were in fact.... bullshit? Well consider me spiffled!!! I've said it before and I'll say it again, this fanbase nobody but themselves to blame. I think it's about time they finally got their head out their asses and took some responsibility for their own gullible optimism. They believed Abandoned was secretly a Silent Hill project even after Konami and even Kojima confirmed they have nothing to do with it. I remember (and even getting some flack for) saying at the time there was nothing suggesting that this had anything to do with Silent Hill and fuck me, I was right. The fanbase even had the nerves blame the the dev's because when they saw the viral marketing they voluntarily cherry picked it apart letting them think Abandoned was something it wasn't. Fucking pathetic! Then some time later Boober Team confirm they are partnership with Konami and they do a hop, skip and a jump right back on that train screaming "Silent Hill! Silent Hill!". Then of they course they are forced to make a statement saying that there is no Silent Hill project in production back in June. Then months later these "leaks" show up and they let themselves get wound up, AGIAN, expecting some announcement at TGS which of course, never happened. What is wrong with these people!! The rumours of a Silent Hill game from Bloober were confirmed to be wrong months before any of the "leaks" and you still believed it. To tell the truth, I actually commend this guy for exposing just how narrow eyed and gullible this fanbase truly is. The fact he can post a rumour that had already been debunked months earlier and it can still such a huge amount of traction is mind blowing. I sure as hell wouldn't be sorry for it, I'd be like: WAKE UP!!!!! Until Konami confirms otherwise there are no Silent Hill projects in production. End of story! Next time there is a Silent Hill rumour, ignore it. So when it inevitably doesn't pan out you might come out of it not looking like a bunch of fools.1 point -

Back in the days when the internet was still not as common as it is today, we used to sell and buy porn dvds at school hidden in ps1 or ps2 cases xD But Ive never messed with an actual cartridge though, I never attempted opening one but I guess thats the reason why its a good place to hide things1 point -

I don't really see anything wrong with the current points system to be honest, it's not that it overly matters to me as i never came here to get free stuff as i came here because i wanted to talk about videogames and it's culture . I think i've got 2 switch games so far trough the bid for rewards program, while these are neat rewards and a nice gesture from dc, it should not be the main motivation to keep posting here and to me it never will. One thing you could do is make a overhaul of the Member of the month and reward second and third place also with some points, it would be more motivating especially for newer members that their posts are appreciated here and we want them to continue to post here. Maybe something worth considering @DC what do you think? If you are going to do a shop i'd probably say some vgr merch would be cool but i don't know i'd just rather buy it myself instead because you know some vgr merch would be cool tough. Yeah i wouldn't mind wearing a shirt that says Proud Moderator at vgr.com bitches or something along those lines lol. But i'll take anything i can get really even if it's cosmetics for the forum. I think the reputation is fine as it is and i'm probably the only one who sees it more as how reputable somebody their posts are as in quality posts, my goal is to reach 500 reputation by the time i hit 1000 posts, so far i'm on course. If i could reach it that means half my posts were liked and that is enough to put a smile on my face and to keep me motivated to continue putting time and effort into my posts, even if some take me over half an hour to write.1 point

Finally reached the pinnacle of the Mass Effect trilogy, Mass Effect 3. Got me thinking about how 'safe' art is nowadays. The appealing thing about art is that it's provocative and encourages conversations on hard topics. Everyone wants an easy answer nowadays to social issues that our 'art' and entertainment in movies and TV shows become bland and uninspiring, just pandering to the most popular and ideals on Twitter and TikTok instead of bothering to improve and expand our perspective on life and society with controversial questions. Mass Effect 2 had a few great examples of what I'm talking about, specifically Mordin's loyalty mission. It has aged like fine wine, and it goes to show why everyone considered Mordin's character arc the best-written storyline in the entire trilogy. His dilemma and denial over the genophage, along with his subsequently remorseful realization in Mass Effect 3, brought tears to my eyes. I remember choking up when I was questioning Mordin during his loyalty mission about the ethics of the genophage, and I wasn't just tearing up because of how heavy the topic was, but more so because I could feel Mordin's guilt and sorrow over the dead female Krogans that met their fate as an indirect result of his actions. It was so beautifully tragic, Mordin's dilemma and perspective. But more relevant to my point is that, Mass Effect gamers also had many heated debates regarding the ethics of the genophage. You would rarely get that kind of interesting exchange over a controversial subject in media today because the big companies want to keep the narrative safe. And it's not just the genophage either, but also the Quarians' enslavement of Geths, which are essentially a machine race in the simplest definition. However, the ethics of the Quarians' actions were anything but simple, so the heated exchange about whom were in the right - the Quarians or the Geths - was just as intriguing as well. I love how a video game of all things would get people discussing about such interesting moral dilemmas, even if they aren't important issues in the context of real life. That's what art should be, provocative. There were times while I was playing the Mass Effect games that it felt like I was watching an episode of Star Trek, specifically The Next Generation. The older Star Trek shows had always tackled intriguing moral and ethical issues with such subtlety and intelligence that the Mass Effect games' handling of their issues bore great resemblance. And it's not just the big issues like genocide and slavery either, but also the smaller inter-relationship conversations, how the crew members talk to each other like adults instead of using simple, dumbed down dialogue a teenager would use. The Critical Drinker pointed out a great scene that exemplified such a conversation when calling out how modern movies and TV shows use dumbed down dialogue only children and immature man-children would use: I just love this exchange so much, and I remember a similar level of depth among my conversations with the Normandy crew as well, albeit not as subtle as the conversation above. For example, it's easy to just dismiss Ashley as only a racist without understanding the nuance of her motivation. I might not have supported Ashley's views on aliens, but even I could see there's nuance between her humanist biasness and Terra Firma's "We hate all aliens" point of view. Complex issues like racism never have an easy answer, especially in our modern times when everything's grey. People tend to miss that.1 point

I've always watched a lot of tv shows and movies, and I often connect with people over it. Not just dates but friends too. It probably won't work if a potential partner doesn't watch anything at all, I imagine we would quickly run out of things to talk about. Also I would like a partner to watch tv shows/movies with me. It's annoying when you want to watch something but the other person wants to do something else instead... It's not a deal breaker, but we would have to have something else in common. But I guess my ideal partner would also be into tv shows and movies1 point

2023 is still far away so from the games that are still coming out this year that i'm going to buy at launch or close to launch : Hokko life -> looks kinda like an animal crossing clone but since it's only 30 bucks at launch i'm willing to give it a shot, comes out on september 27th. Persona 5 Royal -> Because i want to support these atluse Xbox physical editions as much as possible. Mount & Blade 2 Bannerlord -> Kinda suprised this comes out on the 25th of october, if the first game was anything to go by this will be another time sinker for me. I still value the first game as one of the best open world games ever, since you can do pretty much anything you want. Lemon cake -> Don't know much about it other then that you run an old bakery, since i'm a baker in real life it's a no brainer i'm getting this. Harvestella -> Kind of a mix between farming, life simulation and a jrpg by square enix looks really promising hopefully it's better then run factory 5 I'm sure i'm forgetting a couple some have already been released like digimon surivive but i'm holding off until i can get them on sale maybe not this year but next year then.1 point -

Yes and no I think it really depends, like for example on one end we have great shows like Castlevania, Arcane, stranger things but on the other hand we have shitty productions like the recent Resideng evil show or the death note adaptation Basically Netflix has a lot of content, more than hbo, disney or prime, but more doesnt always equal to quality1 point -
What was the worst thing about gym class?
runswithspatulas reacted to The Blackangel for a topic
Having to interact with a bunch of assholes you didn't like to begin with. I took body conditioning as an alternative to typical gym class. Body conditioning was just spending time in the weight room, without any kind of set activity. If you just wanted to stand around and chat that was all you did. I did max out on some weights. I could push 410 on the leg press, squat 250, and even got to where I could curl 100. Most didn't dare try to challenge my records. Funny enough, I could never bench more than 115. Being a girl, I typically just benched the bar (45 pounds). The guys enjoyed watching me. Perverts every one of them. So I eventually just started going to the gym and running laps. The guys in the class were always too busy playing basketball to notice me, which made it even better.1 point -
