I agree - I don't even understand Death Stranding's lore AT ALL whereas I'm far more versed in Metal Gear and Metal Gear is the far more interesting universe.

I'm in between my Gba and PSP - it's a shame that Sony didn't give enough support to the PSP because it had loads of potential. The GBA had so many great games that I still play on my GBA emulator like Broken Sword.

Yep, in the early 2000s, I used to go to the arcade every Saturday but unfortunately, Covid has forced most of them out of business.

Grand Theft Auto doesn't really count since they are still putting out content for GTA V and are working on a new game as we speak. This was mostly meant for games that have quit coming out, or haven't released a game in a long time. GTA is just taking its sweet old time to release a new game, because they're going to keep milking GTA V for as long as they can.

I sure do miss them, you never seem to see them anymore if I am honest and it's a shame that we don't. I know there are some places that still have them but it's very rare and few and far between and in some cases you have to travel quite a distance to use them. It would be awesome if places like that would make a comeback but I feel it's just too much to ask now.

It's definitely NOT a worthless hobby. It's pretty much the way of the future. You have communication with others through gaming and making friends; it can be used in schools to help educate; it could have therapeutic effect through VR; there is the art of photography using the photo mode feature; there are job opportunities; there is competition gaming and also through esports; there is military training and could be used for all sorts of job training through simulations. Playing for fun is just one of the many things that's great about gaming.

Playing video games will never cure cancer, reverse pollution nor undo Hitler, so like it or not the statement that playing video games is a waste of time rings true, at least to some extent. However, the same is also true of golf, model trains and the effort one puts into building a sex dungeon. In other words, it's a hobby, a pastime, the clue is in the name. I suppose it is possible to achieve great things by being passionate and dedicated to a pastime, but that's not the point of a hobby. For example, the leather pool/snooker cue tip was invented by a bored French prisoner, a prisoner who ended up asking for more prison time to develop his invention. But that's not the point, the point is that whilst hobbies may allow the space for inspiration, they aren't necessarily the drive behind it. They are just ways to amuse oneself. They are not there to hurt anyone, but they are not there to help anyone either. Video games are the same, just like any other hobby. No more, but no less.

Tough one! probably for me, right now it's the Playstation Vita. I loved it back at launch when I got mine, and i love it now to this day. My console is hacked so it does a lot of cool stuff and I'm in the process of getting a bigger SD card for it so I can load up all of my Vita and PS1 titles.

I'm a gigantic sucker for handhelds, and my favourite has got to be Nintendo 3DS. Some of my fondest memories on that machine, and the fact that it was back-compatible with the ENTIRE DS library, and had a (for its time) great digital storefront for Nintendo standards made me totally fall in love with it. I also absolutely love my PS Vita I bought a few years ago, which I managed to hack to enable emulators and all kinds of games. Also helps that it's got like the best D-Pad of all time. I know it's probably not in this timeline, but I would absolutely love another truly dedicated handheld device. With smaller and cheaper games. The Switch and Steam Deck are simply too big to do it for me. Edit: Oops, didn't notice this was such an old thread!

First of all, try to do something about the traffic. Secondly, build a racetrack, just because. Finally, build a massive statue of a platypus.

I think I spend a lot on games as well which is surprising because I don't like to spend too much on certain things. I think video games are the only form of entertainment I really don't mind spending my money on , I wouldn't do that for a movie or something else.

I can name two, both ended up on TV a few years back right around Halloween. Hostel (1 &2) 😬 Rest Stop 😬😬 ^ Rest Stop had me so scared I remember I was afraid to try on clothes at Kmart in the dressing room. I was all paranoid for like a week. And the movie had nothing to do with stores or dressing rooms. I was just plain freaked out. That guy was pure evil. The guy in the truck.
