  1. The first thing that comes to mind is a device called the Juicero, which got pretty famous around 2016 or so for being so incredibly stupid. It was markeded as a smart juice machine that would connect to your phone. What it actually was was a machine that you had to buy proprietary juice bags for, which you would then put into the machine, push a button in the app, and the machine would squeeze the juice out of the bag into your glass. That's literally all it did, you could 100% just squeeze the bag yourself and get the exact same result. Here's the kicker; the thing cost $400. To the shock of absolutely no one, the company went out of business less than a year and half later.

  2. Besides gaming, obviously, I would have to say 3D printing. I got a 3D printer back in april after wanting one for years, and I absolutely love it. There are millions of 3D models you can download and print, but for me, the real fun has been learning som basic 3D modeling and designing my own things. So far I haven't really made anything that complicated, but It really is amazing to see a problem around your house, and a few hours of modeling and printing later, having the solution in your hand. Part of the hobby has also been collecting different kinds of 3D printing filament, which is the actual spools of plastic you use to print. There are a bunch of different materials that have different use cases, and thousands of different colors.
