As you are likely aware, Microsoft has snapped up a lot of major gaming studios over recent years, which has left a lot of gamers concerned about exclusives. Reassuringly, Xbox boss Phil Spencer has said that exclusives are “something we’re just going to see less and less of.” What do you think of this news and the likelihood of Xbox (and other major consoles) reducing or eliminating altogether console exclusives?

https://www.ign.com/articles/xbox-boss-phil-spencer-feels-good-about-activision-blizzard-acquisition-progress Xbox boss Phil Spencer recently told Bloomberg, “I feel good about the progress that we’ve been making” with respect to acquiring Blizzard. He also adds that he has never done a deal of this size before but that the “discussions we’ve been having seem positive.” To those who are concerned about exclusives, he says that this is “something we’re just going to see less and less of.”

https://www.ign.com/articles/apple-hardware-event-rumors-september-announcement-date-and-time Apple has just announced that on September 7th, it will hold an event with the tagline “Far Out.” We do not yet know what Apple has in store during the “Far Out” event, but it seems likely that it will involve iPhone 14.

https://www.ign.com/articles/foxtel-ceo-apologizes-for-calling-game-of-thrones-star-emilia-clarke-a-short-dumpy-girl Before a House of the Dragon screening, TV exec Patrick Delany described Emilia Clarke as a “short, dumpy girl” while attempting to make a joke about his ignorance at the time of Game of Thrones. Naturally, fans were incensed. The Foxtel Group has since apologized on his behalf.

https://www.ign.com/articles/cineworld-regal-filing-bankruptcy-theater-cinema-chain Even though there has been a big push to “get back to normal” this year, the long-term effects of the pandemic have been brutal in the movie industry. Cineworld, the company that owns Regal Cinemas, is filing for bankruptcy with $4.8 billion in debt.

https://www.pcgamer.com/gta-creator-reports-rockstar-put-copyright-strikes-on-his-prototype-videos/ Rockstar recently complained to YouTube about DMA Design founding member Mike Dailly posting videos of his old GTA development work. As a result, those videos were removed. Do you think Rockstar is being reasonable, or going overboard?

https://www.pcgamer.com/indie-developer-rob-hale-has-died-posthumously-making-their-games-free-to-enjoy/ Fans of indie game developer Rob Hale “Squid in a Box” will be sad to learn that he recently died from cancer. Among their final wishes was that gamers be able to download Waves and Waves 2 for free from Steam. We are upset that Rob is no longer with us, but no one should miss this opportunity to experience their legacy.

PGA Tour 2K23 will be available on October 14 on Xbox, Playstation, and Steam. I am excited to see Tiger Woods as the cover athlete. Hopefully the game features cross-play and the series is not ruined by intrusive microtransactions. https://www.golfdigest.com/story/pga-tour-2k23-tiger-woods-cover

I don't understand the premise of the lawsuit. My understanding is that Sony's 30% commission is similar to that of Epic, Microsoft, Steam, and all of the other major players. Seems to be an industry standard?

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll leave this thread open to see what other feedback we get.

This is correct. Sure, I'll change the settings right now to make reactions unlimited. Thanks @Gonassis! I am marking this resolved and locking the topic. -
Reason for limited amount of likes per day on VGR?
DC replied to Gonassis's topic in Questions & Suggestions
There is no specific reason. I set a limit of 20 reactions per day when I created the forum in 2018. It's never been an issue since. I think it's a solid number. I don't mind increasing it if others are in agreement. -
Does anyone know a successful esports player well?
DC replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Esports & Competitive Gaming
I don't know any players but I grew up with David Pei (and we were childhood friends), the current head coach of the Vancouver Titans and former head coach of the LA Gladiators. -
I typically do not partake in nominations but I am officially nominating @ForwardSlashDownPoke. His contributions to the forum have been incredibly insightful and detailed. I believe he deserves the opportunity to be considered in the August Member of the Month poll.

I'm that way too, except with my wallet or phone being in my pocket.
