Another idea I'd like to see is a Sims like game mixed with GTA. Imagine if you could do the same Sims stuff, but could rob banks, steal cars, and do whatever GTA things you want. But if you get caught you go to jail and you have to live your sentence before you can go back to your normal life again. I could see something like that working.

The tornadoes are fun in the game, but I think that's the only weather affects that happen. Well I remember during one season they had thunder storms which I think caused lightning strikes, that could cause fires. Would be cool to be able to control those weather mechanics.

I heard about that one, but didn't hear whether it was good or bad. I decided to look into it some more and it's got great reviews on Steam. Maybe the Switch version is just not as good compared to the PC version. I know the Switch has its limits, maybe they had to tone the graphics/other aspects down a bit to work better. But I could be wrong. The studio behind this only has this game on their record, at least according to steam. So maybe they are first time devs.

I just watched an episode of Community, during season 6, back in like 2013-2014 or so, I don't remember, they talk about how VR is dead, or dying. Which I found funny, as now they're even more popular, and becoming even more affordable. It's crazy to think that not that long ago people thought it was going to be a fad or something. I think it's here to stay. It has defined the odds and has done well for a while now. I probably thought when VR first became popular, that it was going to fail or something. But I don't think I ever really felt that way. Because I probably thought it was cool when I first heard about it. But I probably could have seen from then on, that VR was going to be around for a long time.

I doubt it. What might eventually happen is that the CEO will be removed from power, and any other culprits as well. I think they announced recently that the leader of these companies isn't leaving, but I think once the deal is officially done, if it hasn't already been, then they will get that guy and any other people who broke the law out of there.

Also with the news that Skate is going to be a free to play live service game, this may pose a problem for the Session crew. They do have a head start, but I think once Skate drops, Session will be forgotten. Would be interesting to see if they try to go the live service route. Could benefit them to do so.

Reasons why games are unfinished unless you get a DLC?
Kane99 replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Gaming Forum
True, but it sucks to get a game brand new, and then hear there's DLC to continue the story. I don't mind when they do a different story, or extend the story for another character. But when they try to sell you DLC that is intended to add to the end game, it kinda feels wrong. Like, why isn't that a part of the base game, and why do I have to pay for it? If it's free that's fine, i'll accept that. But if it's a paid DLC, then nah, I think that's wrong. Early access makes sense, because it clearly states it's a work in progress. But there are many games that come out way before they're ready. But they don't say they're a work in progress like those early access games, so it just pisses off the gamers out there. -
The series has been around since probably the PS2 era, or so I think. I believe there was a game that came out on the PS2 years ago, but I may be wrong. Either way, it's been a long running series kinda, and has produced some spin-offs too if I'm not mistaken. There's been other games that have kinda copied it, but I can't think of the titles.

I need to pick up more of the retro sports games. They're really the only sports games I think are worth collecting, especially since Madden and others had to start those yearly releases and not innovate on making anything new and worthwhile. But yeah, I don't see most people wanting to collect newer sports games, mainly because they're all the same. Maybe someone who wants to build a full collection of games, but I don't see many others bothering with the past 10-15 years of sports games. Or unless they're the fun ones like NBA Street, NBA Jam, SSX tricky and more.

RDR2 is a massive open world game with a ton to do. There is bound to be someone who can't handle the amount of stuff you can do and would consider it slow for them. But, it can be done a lot faster if you really want to. It just depends on each person and their preferences. I can't go back to GTA online. I've played way too much of it over the years, and I'm honestly kinda tired of it. I haven't touched GTA online in maybe a couple years now and I don't think I will anytime soon. But, if you still find fun in it by helping others, more power to ya. 🙂

With the series S I hear the reason it isn't as good is because it takes 2GB to use the system itself, and the console I think only supports 10GB of RAM, and developers only get that 8GB to work with. We all knew the S was going to be a less powerful console. The way I can see it being sorted, is by just making the games use lower textures/graphics, as that should help a lot. Of course I know gamers probably don't want that, but it'd make a lot of the games we want to play work just fine. I can totally do with downgraded games if I got to play all the new ones anyway.

Well I thought consoles with NFT options was bad, now I hear that Gamestop is getting into the NFT game. I guess any reason to try and keep this company afloat as much as possible. But I don't see NFTs being the saviour they hope for. I don't see this succeeding at all, especially with how things are going with Gamestop. To me it sounds like a last ditch effort to make money for them. Supposedly it will allow you to connect your digital wallets and buy/sell NFT style items. And I guess gaming will be added to the mix at some point. Read more here - https://www.cnbc.com/2022/07/11/gamestop-launches-nft-marketplace-as-it-hunts-for-growth-online.html Think it's a dumb move? Will Gamestop fail yet again?

Some more news came out. The new Skate isn't going to be called Skate 4 like many thought, it'll just be called Skate and I hear it's going to be free to play and will be supported for years to come. If that's true, I'm kinda hyped about that. I don't mind live service games, as long as they don't require you to purchase anything. And from the sounds of it, they're just going to be cosmetics for the most part. You can read more on that news here - https://news.yahoo.com/ea-skate-free-to-play-live-service-full-circle-210009151.html

Videogame Franchises that outstayed their welcome?
Kane99 replied to Yaramaki's topic in Gaming Forum
I second COD simply for the fact that they haven't changed enough to really make them unique. COD used to be the "IT" game for multiplayer, but these days, with not many changes, it has become quite stale. It's still a competent game, but they haven't changed much of anything with the series in the past 5-10 years I'd say. The recent game still looks and feels like COD. There is rumors of that, but who's to say they will follow through with that. I would welcome COD being a game that releases every other year or every few years. It's not like we need a new game each year. Just update, add new maps, modes etc and that should be all we need. -
Is there a way to maintain a sense of urgency in open world games?
Kane99 replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Gaming Forum
True, but I don't like to rush through games, even ones that are meant to be rushed through. Sure I will rush through some games, but most of the time I like to chill out and play slowly. I hate rushing and being forced to finish things fast. I like to explore, see the world, and if they made me rush in RDR2, I wouldn't enjoy my time with it probably. -
I do. I have an emulated version of ESPN NFL 2K5 that has updated rosters and stuff. It's still the game from 2004, but it plays great to this day. It's one of my favorite sports games, becuase imo, it was the last best NFL football game to come out, before EA decided to hoard the license for the NFL.

Is there a way to maintain a sense of urgency in open world games?
Kane99 replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Gaming Forum
Yeah, which is why I never got into games where I was timed. I played Driver 1 and 2 and I could do that time limit, but when it comes to anything else, I'd prefer to play at my own pace without a time limit or timer in my face. Hmm, I'll have to check that one out. I'm sometimes slow when I play, so I can see myself freaking out to this. lol -
Oh goodness, I feel like all the streamers I've tuned in to these days, are already growing massively. I would have said PayMoneyWubby, but he's gotten huge as of late. Aside from him, I don't really know of many other video game streamers who aren't yet famous. Maybe Thunder McFadden, but he's more of a caster/esports guy. But I'm sure there are some streamers/channels I am forgetting about.

Do you try to avoid “metagaming” on replays of single player games?
Kane99 replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Gaming Forum
Yeah I have no clue what metagaming is exactly. I looked it up, and from what I can gather, it's more of a thing where games get very serious with the game, and use the game against others. I think. Please correct me if I'm wrong, because I never heard of metagaming outside of what Facebook is doing with their Meta Gaming brand. And I don't think that is the same at all. For me, I just make decisions I think are right. And if I do a different playthrough, maybe I do it differently, or choose the same result. -
Reasons why games are unfinished unless you get a DLC?
Kane99 replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Gaming Forum
Depends on the game. With the Mass Effect series for example, they released free DLC after the third game to correct some of the issues fans had with the ending. This was only done because fans were unhappy their choices resulted in pretty much the same ending, or so I've heard. So, they made a new ending and gave it out for free. But, there are games that come out unfinished, and try to shell out DLC to make extra cash, when their focus should be on making their game better. DLC should only be used to add to an already completed game, not to finish it off. I don't think it's fair to spend $60+ for a new game, beat it and then find out that there's DLC that continues the story. I don't mind if they release DLC that creates a whole new story and is in a new setting, or an updated setting to the base game. But when they literally just add a few missions to the base game, I don't like that. I especially hate when studios announce a game, and show DLC to come out after. Seriously, why not add those characters/items in first before release? It's because they want to keep making money. I get that, but it just feels shady to me. -
What open world games have the best voice acting?
Kane99 replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Gaming Forum
Most modern games have pretty decent voice acting. RDR1, 2, GTA series, Skyrim (sometimes, it has some corny acting at times), and a few others I'm sure. If it's a serious game like RDR2, I like my acting to be fantastic. But if it's a game like Saints Row, I don't care how good or bad the acting is, as long as the game is fun and is good enough to play. These days they have acting unions for voice actors, so games have come a long way. Back in the day when voice acting in games started, it was usually the devs or some actors they got from a theater department at a local community college. Now days professionals are taking things up a notch. -
Does gaming help anyone here who has dissociative issues?
Kane99 replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Gaming Forum
Yeah I'm not sure, that's why I have no clue what to really say on this. From what I read, it's still more to do with the way your think, and how fantasies play into it. But I'm probably wrong on how it all works and maybe dissociative disorders are just general anxieties and other such things. But don't quote me on that, as I'm probably wrong on all of this. I'm still quite confused. -
Honestly, I feel like everything has been done for the most part. I know Sonic is getting a more open world game, but from what i hear it's not going to be as open as we thought. But I think an actual open world Sonic game could work and could revive it some. Another game series I'd like to see with an open world, would probably be some of the horror games, like Silent Hill. If that ever makes a comeback.

BREAKING NEWS: Bandai Namco unannounced games for 2023
Kane99 replied to kingpotato's topic in Gaming News
I'm not a big Bandai Namco fan. I like some games, but most of the games aren't really in my wheelhouse. I am interested in Little Nightmares III, but mainly because I've yet to play the first two. I haven't played a DBZ game in years and I never really got into their fighting games.
