Red Dead Redemption 2 fans are planning a funeral for Red Dead Online
Kane99 replied to Kane99's topic in Gaming News
Did anyone here actually go to this so called funeral? I didn't because I felt it was pointless. If anything jumping into the game will probably help the game out, so I didn't want to support Rockstar by giving them a jump in gamers joining them. I did a search and found that it did bring in some gamers. I thought the funeral was recently, but it looks like it happened on the 13th. Check out some details about the funeral here - https://www.gamepressure.com/newsroom/rdr2-and-reddeadfuneral-red-dead-online-funeral-trending-on-twitt/z24725 -
I was looking at my game collection the other day, and realized it was a mess. I don't have much storage in my room, and I want to clean up my game collection somewhat and make it more "presentable" as in, just not messy lol. I got this old shelf in there and it has enough room, but the back is coming off and I need to replace the shelf me thinks. Anyway, I use part of the shelf for my cats food dish. I'm thinking about moving it to where I can store more video games, but I'm just too damn lazy to start on the process. I wish I had the skills to just build a massive wall unit where I could put my tv, games, consoles and other stuff, because I could really use the extra room. One of these days I'll clean up my gaming collection, but today, I'm too lazy lol.

Videogame Franchises that outstayed their welcome?
Kane99 replied to Yaramaki's topic in Gaming Forum
I wouldn't say milking the franchise, it's more like they're letting idiots take their IP and make crap from it. The RE movies and show leave a lot lacking for the audience. They haven't made a single good RE movie aside from some of the animated movies, and even then some of those are mediocre as can be. I have no interest in watching the show, because it's just another Hollywood cash grab. To my knowledge, the show is the best we've got in terms of the movies and shows. It probably doesn't come close to the actual games though. The games are in their own little world, doing their own things. While the show and movies are mostly in their own world messing things up. lol -
Idk, that's a tough one. I wish they would toss the guy out, but that $15 million may not let them. No one wants to have to pay that much money to kick someone out, but Microsoft could easily make it happen with the amount of money they have. It probably wouldn't be much of a dent for them. But still, it's $15 mill and I bet Microsoft doesn't feel like paying that. Maybe they're going to let him work his contract, and once up they'll let him go.

Thanks! I'll check it out. I have Gamepass and there's a lot to choose from. Just need to get my nephew to also get gamepass so we can game together. idk about Mortal Kombat 11, not too big into fighting games and I don't think my nephew would care to play it that much anyway. But, maybe, I'll ask him and see if he'd like to play it for a while.

This has kinda taken a turn. I get that JK Rowling is a piece of shit human being, but maybe we should keep the subject on the game itself. Since JK Rowling literally has nothing to do with Hogwarts Legacy or the future of Harry Potter, I say we let her go and move on to actually discussing the game. Yeah she helped create this world, but she has no control of it anymore. She has no say what happens, how it begins and ends, who is in it, etc. The movies are cutting her out, and so are the games. I think she's done, nothing can bring her back from the mess she made. If you don't like this game because she was the original creator of Harry Potter, that's fine, but maybe lets move this discussion about JK Rowling somewhere else? Like a topic area that more matches it. That way we can discuss this in more depth and leave the game out of it.

Well that sucks, but makes sense with the switch taking over. I feel like they will focus their attention on just the Switch going forward, because now it really doesn't make sense to make another 3DS or DS handheld when the Switch has that covered. It's essentially their handheld and console in one, so the need for another handheld isn't really needed anymore. And I think fans know this as well. Sucks to see it dying out, but makes sense, considering the 3DS has been around since 2011, so its time is coming to an end.

Unpopular Opinion: The 3D effect for the 3DS was pretty cool
Kane99 replied to NightmareFarm's topic in Nintendo
I don't think most of the games really needed the 3D gimmick. If anything, I think some studios hated the 3D gimmick, and just tacked in on because they either had to, or felt like making sure it at least had 3D capabilities. I imagine it's easy to make it work in 3D, but I can see some studios gawking at the idea of it. That was actually one of the games I played as well in 3D. It was cool for the first few minutes, then you just kinda forget and it becomes normal. I just never felt like it was that cool of a thing to have. -
Sure, most of us would rather see these places in person, but that's easier said than done. Not everyone can travel the world or see places in person. For me, I simply can't afford to travel all the time, if I did I would probably be all over the world by now, but I don't have the money to support something like that. So, with VR, being able to see some of those places, would be nice I think.

For those saying it's not available, it currently shows it is for me. I'm going to guess that some of you's live outside of the US, and in turn may not be able to play it here. In regards to this game, it's really not my thing. I like DBZ to some extent, but I saw some of the gameplay, and I couldn't really see myself playing something like this. But I know some fans who would be, and I'll point them to it.

I ended up upgrading to a third screen. I don't think I could ever go back to 1 or just 2 screens. Having a third screen helps a ton with the work I do. I can game on one, have a video on the other, and have my discord up on the third screen. Works really well. Unfortunately, older games still have problems with dual monitor setups. I'm unsure how to sort that, but it's no biggie.

I got a corsair gaming mouse from work a couple years ago. Great gaming mouse, but sadly it started to get bad after awhile, where the left mouse button started to not work properly. Not quite sure why, maybe from usage or there was a broken piece in there somewhere. Either way, the time I was able to use it, it worked great. I would recommend getting a corsair mouse. They're usually pretty good about their products.

I have it downloaded on my PC, but I don't really play it these days. I played it a bit on the Xbox One, when I think they released it free to play or free on gamepass, I forget. It's a fun game, but I feel as if I can't get invested into such a game for too long. It's fun with some friends, but playing against others by yourself, isn't fun, at least for me. Anyway, I imagine there's a lot more to do with the PC version, like mods and such, but of course idk their rules on that.

Videogame Franchises that outstayed their welcome?
Kane99 replied to Yaramaki's topic in Gaming Forum
How so? Halo is still quite alive and well. They had some stinkers and less than ideal games, but for the most part Halo is still one of their best franchises. In regards to COD, they are. They already said they have plans to do less of the yearly releases. I'm guessing they plan to do this after the next COD, which is still expected to release this year. But after I think they're going to put the series on hiatus to kind of reinvent it. Because lets be honest here, the series needs a break and to maybe try something fresh and new. WWE 2K just needs a break as well. The newer game is competent and works fine, but there has been rumors that the WWE are looking for other studios to take on development of future WWE games. 2K and company had their chance and honestly the newer game is fine, but for the most part, it's still the same game with just some fixes here and there and new changes. WWE games can be good, we just need a new studio to actually make it happen. -
How do you feel about games that are hundreds of hours long?
Kane99 replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Gaming Forum
Another thing I'd like to mention, is that if a game has a ton of tedious missions mixed in, I probably won't play most of it. Some games can have some of the most mundane missions. Assassin's Creed comes to mind for their annoying tailing missions, where you have to follow and or listen to someone as you tail them. Each AC game I played pretty much did the same thing and I hated every mission like it. But, when you put a ton of side quests/missions that are actually fun, that's when people stick with a game for a long time. Games with tedious side quests don't survive very long. -
CodeMiko is one I'd like to see become more popular. She does more commentary stuff, but has done gaming and similar stuff before. Her YouTube doesn't get a lot of hits, but she seems to thrive more on Twitch where most of her audience goes. She does try to put some of her content on YouTube, but it seems to get taken down more often than usual. I'd recommend checking her out there. She's a Vtuber as they call them, someone who uses an avatar. Though she has been in videos showing her real face before.

If you can’t complete a game because of a bug, what is your next move?
Kane99 replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Gaming Forum
Not sure how that fits considering Cyberpunk 2077 did get patches and updates, it just took them a while because there was so many problems. They have mostly fixed the issues by now, but it's still not 100% there, at least from what I see. There's still some room for improvement. But, it's far different. With Konami, they literally let the HD collection of Silent Hill games go to waste because they couldn't be bothered to pay Xbox to put up a patch to fix the issues. The PS3 version got a fix, which is why people go for that copy, but the 360 version is considered a dud because no fixed were ever made. And it's considered to be one of the worst HD remakes ever released for that reason. -
I don't think controller drift will ever go away. I know the switch has their fare share of problems with joycon drift, but really that issue comes up with most controllers I have owned, at least the Xbox 360/Xbox one side of the coin. Each controller I ever had, ended up breaking down. Maybe it was because I played a lot of COD and I found that the left analog stick was the one that caused the most problems. Sadly, I don't think you can fix it, so I always ended up buying a new controller instead. It sucks, but I guess that happens when you game so damn much that the controllers start to die out. 😞

Have you ever played the Def Jam fighting games? They're much different than the Street Fighter franchise, in that they're more wrestling than fighting, and the fights take a lot longer. If I remember correctly, you can lose via KO or pinfall. The game was so fun. Sometimes you could knock your opponent into the audience, and they will sometimes hold them for you to beat down on. These games were surprisingly really good and honestly no one really saw them coming. Plus with all the rappers in game, it made for game with great music and fun stories. Except, skip the last game in the series, Def Jam Icon. It's more like a fighting game, and it wasn't nearly as good as the other Def Jam games.

I may have mentioned if prior myself, but I'm sure it was an ongoing issue. I heard from Rebellion support that the issue was patched, but I got a comment on the YouTube video I put up for it, and they mentioned this happened during co-op as well, where one dude's wife ended up picking up a body to hide it, but it stayed on her. But yeah, the only fix is to restart the mission, or go through the mission still holding the body like I did. 😄 I remember Outerworlds had a similar save system to the likes of Fallout, or so I thought. It's been a while since I played. But I remember the game having an auto save option and a manual save option. I used the manual save a little bit, but mostly let the autosave take control. I only saved if I felt like I needed to. Maybe to save a portion of the game in case I end up getting stuck.

what's with all the gaming service charges now?
Kane99 replied to runswithspatulas's topic in Gaming Forum
Times change. Back in the day for those older consoles, online features were limited. And like others have said, Xbox live was a thing for the Xbox and Gamecube had some online functions. Hell, some consoles before it had the ability to go online with certain connections. But these days, with the internet so popular and in pretty much everyones homes, it makes sense that some services would charge for their online modes/options. I think we're starting to see stuff like Xbox become more lax, as I think they're going to cut out Xbox live soon to allow everyone to game. But that's where gamepass comes in, as I think it'll outright replace xbox live. And of course, some games have their own subscription options. I just simply skip the games that require you to pay monthly, or I skip games that are mostly played online. Blame all of this on the internet, as studios wouldn't have been able to do it without the internet. -
Do you guys ever thing we'll see a new DS? Or Nintendo handheld that isn't also a console like the Switch? I truly believe that the Switch is their future, in that they will continue to make handheld/console hybrids and skip the traditional handhelds they are known for. The 3DS & 2DS will probably receive support for a little while longer, but eventually I see Nintendo's focus being on new switch models rather than new DS/handhelds.

I think the big thing people find a difference in, is the setting, otherwise it's mostly Bioshock, but just in a different setting. Say the first couple games, they took place in Rapture correct? I only played a bit of 1, but it was an underworld city that you could go through. But with Infinite, it's high up in the sky, which is a completely different setting compared to the earlier games, but it still has the same storylines, gameplay and more that makes it a Bioshock game. At least from what I've seen and played. I tried my hand at infinite, but I couldn't get into it for long. It just wasn't for me.

Yeah, back in the day games came out mostly finished and ready to go. But these days so many studios have to release new games that aren't 100% complete, and they expect us gamers to pull the wait of testing and all that jazz. I wish games came out the way they used to, at least then we know we're getting a mostly complete game with minimal problems. Today we aren't always sure if the final game is 100% complete or free of bugs and problems. Look at Bethesda for example, I imagine their earlier games came out with less problems than their modern games. I think it just comes down to studios needing to make a release date, and they get stuck there and have to push and push to complete. When it should be that studios are given more than enough time to finish their work, and if not, give them a couple delays.

Why do so many games have fishing mechanics in them?
Kane99 replied to Yaramaki's topic in Gaming Forum
Yeah as long as it's not some requirement to get further in the game, or a requirement in order to open other things. If it's just an option in game, like RDR2, than I'm all for it. It's always nice to have extra activities in open world games. Much like how they had Golf and Tennis in GTA V. It adds more options for gamers to do things that aren't just the base game. I wish more games featured side stuff like this, because it would add a lot to some games.
