Back in the day when retro gaming was king, we didn't have the internet to get our tips from. I never called a video game hotline before, but I know they were a very popular means to get the helped needed to get through that tough level. Has there ever been a time where you called a gaming hotline for tips? If so, how was it, did they provide you with the tips you needed? I wonder what it was like working as a caller on these tip hotlines. I know Nintendo had one, I'm sure Sega had one, and many others did as well. Are there even any gaming hotlines still left out there? I doubt it, because I'd imagine we'd still hear something about it. And with the rise of the internet and YouTube, tip hotlines aren't really needed anymore.

I've never played Godfall, but they literally took out the base game and just left in the last portion/dlc? That's makes absolutely no sense. My guess, is that they may continue to update the game with new content. But even so, I think I'd prefer the full package rather than a portion near the end. It's like game studios and publishers don't have common sense about the choices they make with their game. It's as if they don't realize that there are tons of gamers at the ready to call them out for doing dumb things like this. What's the challenge of having the final set of missions and not most of the base game? I really hope this doesn't become a trend going forward. Where they split games up. Maybe I'd be okay with it if they offered that portion free for life, but it'd defeat the purpose of getting the game in the first place wouldn't it?

My favorite online games would probably have to be Star Craft growing up. It technically was my first experience with online play. I wasn't any good, but I had fond memories trying to learn. I would also include the likes of Cod 4, Fortnite, GTA IV and V (for a while), Minecraft, and I'm probably missing something, but that's all I can think of off the top of my head.

Battle Royale is one of the most popular genres whether you like it or not. I don't see it going away anytime soon. But, I am curious what you guys think could be coming next on the horizon. We already got a vampire battle royale game with that Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodhunt, and I think there was a dodgeball game that was kinda inspired by the genre. Are there any new battle royales you're looking forward to? I've been playing Fortnite again since the recent update, and I feel like trying some new games in the genre. Any suggestions?

I believe there is a PS5 VR in the making yet, but so far you can use PS VR on the PS5 if you want. Just that I don't think any newer games for the PS5 work for it yet, but I may be wrong on that. Please correct me if so. Either way, I assume we'll be getting a new PSVR eventually, and it will have better screen, graphics, and all that jazz. Do you think then that the old PSVR will be obsolete with newer titles? Or will it still be supported? I want to get myself a PS5 one day and be able to finally get my VR game on, but that may be a while yet.

I know Amazon is trying to get more involved with gaming, and they have so far with New World. But I assume they want to do a lot more. Every big game publisher or developer is buying small studios, maybe it would be wise for Amazon to invest in some small studios themselves. They don't even need to buy them up, they could contract them out, hire them, etc. I think with the money Amazon has, they can easily procure a couple studios and even hire on a few studios if they so desired. But, who knows what could come of that. Probably will end up being yet another greedy publisher.

Not in terms of user opinions, but like wikis and details on the game as a whole, including cast of characters, plot outlines, and so on. I know sites like Giantbomb do this, where they list off pretty much most games known to man. It gives you details about the game, their developers, publishers, year or release and more. Another site I have used was mobygames, but I found another that seems to have a bigger database of games and that's IGDB. I think it's short for indie games database, but I'm pretty sure it lists all games instead of just indie. I had no idea it was run by twitch either. Pretty cool. Those are just the sites I use. I know there are some other wiki sites, some just wiki's of a game. But I would prefer a more in depth database for games, like how Giantbomb and IGDB does it.

Uh oh, looks like someone may be in a little trouble. According to game developer Ward B, they have accused gun maker Kalashnikov of copying one of their designs for a fictional gun in their upcoming game Oceanic. They've been releasing design ideas to their twitter since 2019. Ward B actually spoke with Kalashnikov about possibly designing a gun for them based on said design. They were supposedly going to produce airsoft guns and they'd in return rebrand the gun in their game as a Kalashnikov shotgun. They even told Ward B they'd send some three guns out to them. Everything seemed to be going good, but they stopped talking to them and never sent contracts. Instead, Kalashnikov stole the idea and produced their own gun, with differences, but there seems to be enough copied over that Ward B noticed. I wonder if they can do anything about it. Kalashnikov are denying any wrongdoing. This is the gun that Ward B mocked up: And this is the gun that Kalashnikov produced: You can view more images in the article below. https://www.ign.com/articles/stolen-gun-kalashnikov-oceanic-mp-155-ultima-ward-b

I sadly have not yet played with a VR headset, I really want to, but the cost of it is just out of my reach at the moment. Anyway, I was curious how you guys, those who have played with an actual VR headset, felt when using one? Like, how long can you wear it until it starts to cause you to feel sick, or have a headache or other issues? I hear some people can't handle playing VR for a long period of time, and even some VR headsets recommend taking a break after a while because it can be disorienting for some. But, what is your experience with gaming on VR for long periods of time. Do you get fatigue gaming for too long? Maybe eye strain or headaches?

I believe games like RDR2 and Just Cause do weather pretty good, especially RDR2. But do you wish games had better weather effects? Maybe even implementing times where hurricanes, tornadoes, and other such events can happen in your game world? I think it'd be interesting to see a realistic game with realistic weather effects, and it affects the world around you. Tornadoes do severe damage, and you have to rebuild, hurricanes cause flooding, earthquakes can happen, etc. Idk, I think it'd be interesting to see a game utilize it's weather as a obstacle for the player. idk, what do you think?

Cards against humanity is a fun game, but I am mainly looking for video game versions of it, or clones. Also, do you know of any other games similar to it, but that can also be played online? I have been getting a kick out of card games like cards against humanity, but can't get my friends to meet up, so I figure an online game would be best. I know there is a cards against humanity clone game on PC, but what are some other card games like it that are worth checking out?

You mean like kicking people from your party in game? If it's someone I don't know, I will often kick them from the party. But if it's friends or family I will only kick them if they are leaving and need to make room, or they're glitching out. Unless you mean to block someone? I have had to block a lot of people. I rather not deal with drama, so whenever someone talks crap, bothers me online, etc, I usually mute and block them. It's not worth arguing with some random person on an online game.

Most common missed opportunities in remasters?
Kane99 replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Gaming Forum
Lately it's doing a lazy job of remastering. From the Silent Hill remastered set to the recent GTA trilogy remaster, they have been doing a bad job for a while now. I think developers who want to remaster their games, should do a lot more than just a fresh coat of paint. They need to optimize these games for the time, update the problems and iron it all out. For the GTA trilogy, they clearly needed more time to develop something better. I hoped for a game that controlled like a modern game, and graphics that were close to what maybe GTA IV offered at least. Or even the newer GTA V graphics. If they want to make something the definitive edition, they need to make sure it's better than the original version. -
Oh shoot the image for the meme must have been removed from Facebook. This is the one it was based on, but yeah. I wish they made consoles in colors like this again. I doubt I'd be able to afford em all, but maybe down the road I'll be making fat stacks of cash and can afford to get a few different consoles.

I feel like we get a lot of that with open world games these days. I mean Skyrim, just being 10 years old at this point (I think), is an exploration game. I'd argue that RDR1 and 2 are exploration games in a sense. But I get what you mean, you want games focussed on exploration only. I feel like a lot of point and click games worked in that genre. We don't see a lot of point and click games anymore. I played a demo of it growing up, but always wondered about playing the full game. I'd love to see more rhythm based games that just use a controller and require timing.

Had a blast playing it with my brother. I remember my sister and mom showed it to me back then. I think every game in the near future could potentially be doing the live service thing. GTA already does it with their online mode now, so it'll happen for their future games. Games like Fortnite don't need to charge you, and they make tons each year. With sports games, they will also be doing the live service thing. I wish instead they'd release one game for each sport, and release updates yearly or monthly. With how gaming companies are going these days, who knows how long they'll be around. Companies constantly keep making dumb decisions, saying dumb things and more. A lot can happen in 50 years.

I didn't play a whole lot of the movie tie-in games for popular movies back in the day. I know Spider-man 1 and 2 happened to be good games, but I never played them sadly. I remember playing 007 Legends, which is based off the older James Bond films if I remember correctly. Most of the games after Goldeneye turned out to be mediocre crap. Oh another that comes to mind is the Bad Boys video game. It didn't even have Martin Lawrence or Will Smith, and it was an awful game.

Well it looks like Rockstar has produced some new story DLC content for GTA V Online. Yes, online, and not single player DLC like we've all been waiting for. But hey, it's something new, so I am kinda intrigued. This new story content in GTA Online will be titled The Contract. This new content will feature Dr. Dre, and Franklin 5 years after the events of GTA V. Dr. Dre produced music solely for GTA V, so I'm kinda excited to hear his new music. It looks like Franklin is running his own music studio, so I Imagine that's where Dr. Dre comes in. You can read more about it here: https://www.ign.com/articles/gta-online-story-dlc-franklin-dr-dre-years-later-campaign It drops December 15th. I'm assuming it's going to be free like most of GTA Online's missions. But I'm sure they have a ton of new cars, guns, and clothing to choose from. Now, just wish I can be bothered to get back into GTA online. 😄

It's only the first year as well, usually the first year it's scalpers getting their way. And then the console gets a price cut eventually and it kinda slows down. Each generation starts with this sort of situation. It's just gotten worse because scalpers have become more sophisticated and have utilized bots and other annoying tactics to get ahead of people just trying to get the console the legit and proper way. It's bad that stores have to put out signup's in order to be notified first when new stock comes in. I assume scalpers get in to these as well. I don't know how so many get away with it too. I think a lot of sites have implemented rules of "one console per person". Maybe it should be for each address for now. Hell, even some stores are charging for tickets to get first dibs on the consoles. That's kinda messed up.

Oh I believe it. There are bad eggs on each side of the fence. I know Steam is full of games that are just asset flips with really bad coding. I can see some suing over bad reviews. I remember Jim Sterling I think it was, he talked about a game that was just an asset flip essentially, and they ended up suing him. The game was basically a unity asset with assets lol. But yeah, indie devs/studios can be just as bad sometimes. I'll for sure have to check those channels out now.

I am kinda the same way. It took me a while to get used to futuristic games. I was honestly not that into Halo when it first came out. It wasn't until I think the 360/ps3 generation when I started to play more, or get into more futuristic style games. These days, we get so many games based in the future, it's kinda become repetitive.

Yeah it was bad. I believe some stores even put Adult only labels on the games, until Rockstar released a new the new copy without the mod. It was a pretty big story. Looking back at it today, it's more laughable than anything. I still have an original copy of the game, as I got it when it came out, so it has the mod. I wonder if there is any worth to the original copies. I doubt mine would be worth anything, as it's in rough shape, but who knows. The sex scene in Indigo Prophecy wasn't that racy though. I don't recall if there was any nudity, but I could be wrong. Even so, it was one of the most weird and awkward scenes I've ever seen in a game. Just felt so out of place. And it made absolutely no sense for those two . Also it hasn't aged well lol, it is kinda funny if anything. And yeah, you'd think Manhunt would be rated Adult, but they had to cut out a lot of stuff to make it an M rated game. I believe they refused the game originally, until changes were made to pass an M rating. These days, nudity alone doesn't cause an adult rating. I think it depends on the amount of nudity, and sex involved, and whether or not you can partake in it. Because games like GTA V, The Witcher 3, Cyberpunk 2077 all show nudity, with the latter showing male & female genitals. I think it's when it's excessive that causes adult ratings for the most part. That's why Hatred got an A rating for the excessive violence in it, so I imagine adult rated would be excessive sex and nudity.

Oh for sure. It makes things so much easier. Games like Minecraft come to mind, because even though it's not much, you get a random built world, and can explore, and build. Soon enough, games will be built that way, where levels will be different each time. Well, It's already happening in games these days, so I figure we're already there. Oh I wouldn't blame AI on that either. the AI bit from the remastered trilogy was just to smooth out the graphics, billboards and other such things. They used AI for that because they were too lazy to do all the graphic work themselves lol. But, it shows that it can be done, but there is for sure some more work to do.

I remember when Driv3r tried to make fun of GTA, which is quite laughable considering the quality that was Driv3r. I forgot that GTA 3 and Vice City made fun of Driver before. Sucks because Driver 1 and 2 were decent games, and were really ahead of their time. But GTA was the one that improved upon it.

Biggest adjustments you’ve had to make with a new generation of games?
Kane99 replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Gaming Forum
True, microtransactions especially. Loot boxes seem to be dying down some, mainly because of the backlash they have received, but they are still around. What's funny though, is that video games haven't gone up a lot in price in the past 20-30 years. I think back in the NES days, games were often priced just as high, if not more. I think when the N64 was around, I swear I remember seeing prices up to $60 or more. But I forget. I kinda wish I saved some of the JCpenny catalogs we got for Christmas back in the day, I bet some of the prices back then are crazy outrageous.
