Sometimes when we play a really tough game, we get angry. Some of us toss the controller down, some of us handle it easier than others, but sometimes we lash out, maybe hit ourselves, or punch a wall, break a keyboard or controller, etc. In the past I found that I would hit my leg or slap myself if the game was proving to be too difficult for me. I know that's very dumb of me, but it's something I did for years now. I'd get frustrated and I'd often hit my leg. Do you ever do something like that? Instead of tossing the controller across the room, I just hurt myself haha. But seriously, where do you take your anger out when dealing with a tough game?

Do you get fatigued by some types of games faster than others?
Kane99 replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Gaming Forum
I tend to get fatigue in video games quite often, mainly stuff like having to collect items in games, or in modern open world games like GTA where you have to drive to an area to complete the mission. Same with Red Dead Redemption. These days I wish games were a bit quicker about how to do missions. Not in the sense of making missions quicker, but enough of the long drives to get from the start of a mission to the end of it. Why not give us a cutscene, and a place to go and that's the mission. Don't make a mission where you have to get a car, go to another spot, drive another car or vehicle and so on. It just get repetitive and tedious. Also, games with confusing menus. There are so many games, like The Witcher for example, that is full of menus that I just get lost in. When I first started the game years ago, I was overwhelmed by how much stuff you needed to know. It was so complex and that is partly why I haven't really picked it back up. I want to play it, but I feel overwhelmed by the amount of stuff you need to know how to do. -
Yes please. I know some gamers would frown upon it and claim you're not a gamer, but that's BS. Play games however you want to. I love when games allow you to skip a tough section, especially if you keep getting stuck on it. I don't think it's wrong to want to skip that mission or section. If you want to get through it still, you can certain continue doing that, but if I can't do it, I'll take the chance to skip sometimes. There's nothing wrong with it imo.

Have you quit playing any games as a result of bugs and glitches?
Kane99 replied to Heatman's topic in Gaming Forum
For the most part, not many games have gotten me to quit because of glitches or bugs. Cyberpunk 2077 had its share of glitches that I got worried about, but for the most part it didn't stop me from playing. Now, with COD Modern Warfare 2 and COD 4 I had to quit sometimes because of the glitches and hacks people pulled on it. Other than that, I can't remember a game being so bug ridden that I'd quit because of it. I'm sure there are some that I am forgetting though, but I don't remember anything too recent. -
Do you research the best time/order to play DLCs?
Kane99 replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Gaming Forum
I'm not quite sure about your question. Like research when to get the best deals on DLC? Or when to play the DLC? I usually play DLC after I complete the game. Most DLC to my knowledge, works after a game. But I think it also works side by side of the game as long as it's a side story not attached to the main one. Kinda how Red Dead Redemption 1 had the Undead Nightmare, which could have been played before or after the game. I remember Far Cry Blood Dragon, which wasn't even DLC but a standalone game. I think most games that do DLC, do it after the game is done, but they sometimes do a different story or time in the main story to not take away from the main story. -
We already have emulators for popular consoles, majority of them are retro console emulators, but there are some now for the Xbox, PS2, Gamecube, Wii and I believe they've even gotten the Wii U games working via emulation. Which made me wonder. How do emulators for the 360 and PS3 work? Considering that a lot of the games on those consoles worked online, and you can get trophies and collectibles. How would emulation work with that aspect of it? Would you have to emulate the console like the Xbox One and Series X/s does with past Xbox consoles? If I'm confusing you, apologies. I'm mainly referring to emulation of games that had online mechanics, but have features tied into the consoles. So would emulating an Xbox 360 game for example, also require you to emulate the system itself so that you can play games online and all that? Or are we just going to be able to play games offline?
-
Sure. I used to play a lot of Call of Duty, which I consider to be a large scale shooter, especially with warzone now. Battlefield is considered a large scare shooter as well, but has seen better days in recent years. I like large scale shooters as long as they're done right and are fun.

What setting do you want for the next BioShock?
Kane99 replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Gaming Forum
I think it'd be fine going back to the underwater world of Rapture. That's what it was called right? I think it'd be cool to get a prequel game during the making of Rapture. Or some kind of story that takes place before the events of the first game. Or, they could do something in space, maybe have it take place on the moon or something. Idk, the possibilities are endless. -
Most misleading would have to be the trailer for the original Dead Island game. I posted it in another topic recently for favorite trailers, but it fits this topic as well. The trailer made it out to be this dramatic game where you had to keep your family safe. At least that's what was implied with the trailer. It implied it also had a good story, but it was pretty non-existent from what I remember. Also, you can check out the topic I made about your favorite trailers here:

Well this is all for the year of 2021. And yeah, some studios had a rough year, but we've had some great games come out this year. There will always be a winner for game of the year, but it's possible the games this year are worse than the last. But that's more opinion based. There are some good games on the list of awards, but nothing that's striking me as brilliant. 2021 was kind of an off year imo. But I'm hoping 2022 is a much better year.

I think the closest that can make it would be the Super Mario series. I mean, hasn't Mario games been around for like 35+ years now? I can see them hitting 50 years and more no problem. As for other games, I don't know. Maybe The Legend of Zelda series, GTA, Fortnite lol. Idk. 50 years is a long ways to go into the future, especially when I don't think we had 50+ years of video games yet. I think the first video game came out in the late 50s, and it didn't take until the 70s until consoles became a thing. So we're probably nearing our first 50-60 years with gaming. Honestly, I have a feeling that most IPs will be gone or forgotten in 50 years. I can't see most series sticking around, but I can see some making it possible.

Well, GTA is for the most part, still rated M for mature, so anyone 17+ can buy it. But Adult rated games are the ones with excessive violence, and possibly even excessive nudity. GTA V for example, is rated M for mature. It has nudity, but it doesn't go too far with that nudity. An adult game on the other hand, can do a lot more. But usually getting an adult rating, is a death sentence for a game, because most stores won't sell it physically in their stores. It was bad enough that GTA San Andreas was removed from store shelves because of the hot coffee mod. I know big box stores like Wal-mart don't sell Adult rated games, and most other stores don't either. So you lose a lot of sales potential making an A rated game unfortunately.

I think it depends on the game. When it comes to a horror game like the newer RE games, you want to hear your surroundings. If anything I find it more scary to be in a dark room with no music, because you don't know what to expect. Sometimes music can be overbearing as well, and defeat the purpose of a good scare, and some games utilize the same sound or music too much, like the violin sound that everything uses now, which kinda hurts the scares going forward. With horror movies for example, I almost prefer silence, because when you hear that creak of a door, or eerie sound in the next room, it seems to instill a lot more fear, but also adds to the dread I think. With Silent Hill, it worked because the music wasn't constant and worked differently depending on the area you're in. I remember Silent Hill 2 having sections with no music, and just sounds of monsters and metal sounds. Sometimes silence is enough. I watched this video recently on The Shining. I know it has nothing to do with video games, but I think devs could learn a thing or two about music and horror. Because the way they did the music for The Shining, was pretty cool. You can watch that video below.

Same here. It was a matter of time before they jumped into the fray. Just surprised it took them this long. We can only hope. Would be big if Sony were able to do that. I'm going to assume it'll be part of PC, since they've already ported a bunch of their first party titles. Isn't Epic Games getting a few of their titles, or was it Steam? I forget. I'm going to guess there will be a PC counterpart, but it will only be for the games they already ported over or plan to port over. I don't think it'll be every game though. Or I hope not.

What makes a video game location feel “real”?
Kane99 replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Gaming Forum
Well, when developers put in real life locations, it helps make it feel more realistic. Most games make up their own locations, but they are inspired by real life locations. If I ever were to make a game, I think I'd utilize my hometown as a location, just because I think it'd be cool to do. There are games that have real life locations, like L.A. Noire, Watch Dogs 1 and 2 I believe, and a few others. Games like GTA will be inspired by locations. Liberty City is New York, Vice City is Miami Florida and San Andreas is meant to be California. A lot of the locations in GTA titles mimic what real life locations in said areas look like. -
Are there any movies, tv shows or other forms of media that got their own video game, but there was really no point in making a game based on it? I remember there being many Mary Kate & Ashley games growing up. I imagine none of them were any good lol. Honestly, I never expected Shaq to get his own game when we got Shaq-Fu for the SNES back in the day. I don't think anyone was asking for it either lol. The fact that there was games based off of the show Home Improvement has always weirded me out lol. Oh and Michael Jackson's Moonwalker is another that comes to mind. But are there others that you find more weird and unbelievable in game form? I know the Three Stooges even got their own game back on the NES. Basically what I am asking is, do you know of any games that don't make sense because they are based off of something that isn't video game related? Does that make sense?

Adult rated games doesn't mean there is sexual content or anything like that. It could refer to games that have some nudity, but also extreme violence and imagery. I think that Hatred was rated Adult only, and that was just about excessive violence. But otherwise, do most adult games even sell? I know Hatred was moderately popular, but I can't think of any other A rated games unless you count San Andreas when they found the hot coffee exploit. Other than that, I don't think adult rated games sell all too well.

Gaming crossovers happen sometimes, but it's not as popular as you'd think. We got a few fighting games that have done crossovers, like the Marvel Vs Capcom, or Soul Calibur 2 when they added characters from Sony and Microsoft. I think Nintendo got Darth Vader of all characters, but I forget. Anyway, what gaming worlds would you like to see team up? I think it'd be cool to mix Saints Row with GTA. Probably wouldn't work these days with how GTA is more serious, but I think it could work now that Saints Row is getting a bit more serious with their upcoming game. Other than that, I'd love just about any crossover that makes sense for the material. Give me a Marvel Vs DC fighting game. I'd buy that.

Weird that it's a year already since the last show. I remember tuning in to watch it last year, but wasn't there to see the awards, but the reveals. I'm sure there will be a lot of great reveals to come out of the show. But what are you hoping for the most? Hellblade 2 is one game I am psyched for, but I'd like to see a mention of GTA 6 at the least. But I doubt they will announce anything on the game awards. Other than that, I hope they show another trailer for the new God of War. But what other reveals are you hoping for? What games/devs/studios are you hoping to win? You can vote on your favorites here: https://thegameawards.com/

I loved the first Hellblade game and can't wait for the sequel. It's been rumored that a trailer will debut at the upcoming video game awards, but haven't heard much else. I'm going to keep an eye on the show to catch this trailer. I hope there's more combat options in the sequel, because I felt like the combat could have used more combos and options. If they do that, I think we'll have another hit on our hands. You can watch the most recent trailer below. But I assume the Game Awards will have a new trailer to drop on the 9th. 🙂

Sadly, when we get older, we tend to lose our skills to some extent. Do you ever find that your skills in video games are more lacking with each year you get older? Or do you think your skills stick around forever? I find that my patience with tougher video games, just isn't there anymore. If something is too challenging, I often give up if it's too tough. Which is why I'm starting to think my skills have gotten worse when it comes to video games. I find I'm slower with some games as well. Do you feel your skills will get worse when you get older?

The Game Awards are going to be happening soon, and there was mention of Activision/Blizzard being part of the show to promo upcoming games. But backlash from fans and the gaming community have since changed that. Instead Activision and Blizzard will not be part of the show at all. They can still win awards though, but that's it. Geoff Keighley had to announce the fact that they wouldn't be a part of the show after the initial backlash. But it's sad that they even considered them for the show after the Bobby Kotick situation. Maybe this will revolve into Bobby Kotick finally being removed from power, so that these studios can start to grow and get better. I assume that Activision/Blizzard will be kicked out of events until they remove Bobby from CEO. I doubt they will do it though. You can read about this news here - https://www.destructoid.com/activision-game-awards-geoff-keighley-controversy-blizzard-bobby-kotick/

For those wondering, the recent season of Fortnite just ended and we're heading into Chapter 3 season 1 next. In a new change, the map of Fortnite has literally flipped upside down, and now we're graced with a brand new map. But that's not all, as the new chapter deals have leaked showing what new additions the game will have. Epic Games accidentally released the new trailer in Poland, and you can watch what's to come below. https://streamable.com/3jtpmq The cool additions are that you can get Spider-Man through the battle pass, there are tornadoes, lightning that can strike the ground and possible players, a new sliding mechanic, and it looks like you can traverse like Spider-Man. That doesn't seem to be all though, as The Rock was revealed in the recent event, so he may be a skin in the battle pass. But yeah, some really fun additions if you're a fan of the game.

Are there any games you remember but no one else seems to? It can be for good or bad games. I remember they made a game for that Pamela Anderson show that wasn't baywatch. She was like a special agent or something. I never bought it, but it's like I'm the only one who does remember lol. Other than that, there is a game called Largo Winch that I got for the ps1 as a kid and remember hating it. But no one I know has ever heard of it. It was like this stealth action game trying to be metal gear solid or something. It was awful and I remember it controlling like crazy.
