What intimidates you more, fighting or sneaking?
Kane99 replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Gaming Forum
Fighting for sure. Sneaking is more fun and I feel more relaxed doing it. Going in and fighting though, could result in more people coming after you. With some stealth games even, you can go through the mission without killing someone. Games like Deus Ex and Dishonored allowed you to go through the game without killing, utilizing stealth to get to the end game. Sometimes it's cool playing the ninja who just sneaks around. But with fighting or going the loud approach, it may be fun for some, but it's also easier if that makes sense? idk, I just like sneaking around in games and doing the objectives without the enemy knowing. -
How long does it take you to realize some enemies are undefeatable?
Kane99 replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Gaming Forum
Depends on the game and enemy. I think for the most part, if an enemy takes too long to kill, it could also be a scripted segment, like you're meant to lose. There are a lot of boss battles in games, where you aren't meant to win the battle, instead you're supposed to lose to further the story. There have been times where I would fight a boss like that, and then when I lose I realize it was scripted. But, there are also scripted fights you can beat. I think some in Dark Souls are like that, especially with the first boss. Because when you face him right away, it's nearly impossible to kill him, but games have, or so I've heard. Oh, same with that Sekiro game, because I think you can face off with the main boss, and win. Of course he has like three stages, so it's tough, but I heard that you could beat him the first time, it just takes skill. -
What is the single worst game-breaking glitch you ever encountered?
Kane99 replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Gaming Forum
Worst game breaking glitch, that's a good one. I think for me, it probably was in Cyberpunk 2077. Considering that game has autosave, I accidentally fell under the map during one segment, and I had feared it would autosave while I was down there, and in turn I'd be stuck and would lose the progress I just achieved. Thankfully I was able to climb out of the glitch somehow and it didn't save there. But I had various encounters with glitches in that game where I'd thought I'd be stuck and would have to reload an older save. Other than that. WWE 2K20 is full of game breaking glitches, mostly ones that just close out the game, but there are moments in Universe mode where if you use a created character, they sometimes won't show up in cutscenes. Fun times! -
Battlefield 2042 came out a broken mess recently and fans are not happy. It's another case of a game being rushed to release. I mean hell, the game doesn't have a voice chat, and instead of adding more stuff in, they have taken out modes, have less maps, guns and drivable vehicles. It's clear this game was not ready for release. Maybe instead, they should have tried the free to play method for this game. It's clear EA can't be bothered to let their devs work on games until they are complete. They must love the news every year about how awful their games turn out on release. It's like a trend for them at this point. I doubt EA will change, they will still push for early release dates, and will let the developers deal with the backlash. Anyway, this game will be fixed eventually, but gamers shouldn't be subjected to a $60 or $70 game that is a downgrade from previous entries and is a broken mess. I really believe they will end up making this game free to play eventually due to all these issues at launch. Just something about it feels like that is going to be the outcome. But, what do you think? Can Battlefield 2042 recover? Or is this game just destined to continue to fail?

WSJ Report Alleges Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick Hid Knowledge of Misconduct
Kane99 replied to PGen98's topic in Gaming News
It pretty much already has. Activision and Blizzard are getting a ton of hate from fans and even their own employees. I think it's safe to say, that this whole thing is hurting the company, and rightfully so. They are trying to keep someone in charge who knew about sexual assault allegations and did nothing about them, they deserve to lose money until it's resolved imo. If they don't want to get rid of Bobby boy, then the next thing that will happen is more investors will start to pull out. I'm pretty sure their investors have wanted Kotick out as well, so I wonder if any will pull their funding until he's kicked out. But seriously, I don't get how this guy is still CEO of this company. I guess he just doesn't care that he's an awful person at this point. -
Oh for sure. There's just too much risk with it, and I don't think Steam is interested in keeping an eye on these types of games, considering how much could actually go wrong. I think it's smart on their part, because they probably don't have anything to keep track of that anyway. So maybe down the road once they have rules set in place, but right now NFTs are so new, that there's still a lot that needs work on I think. Yeah true, if they aren't making money from it, they shouldn't allow it. Especially if the game makes a lot of money through NFT. Maybe Steam will release their own NFT marketplace or something. You never know with how the digital world is these days.

WSJ Report Alleges Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick Hid Knowledge of Misconduct
Kane99 replied to PGen98's topic in Gaming News
The drama is that Bobby Kotick knew about sexual abuse allegations in his company and attempted to ignore them, after previously stating he did not even know. He even allowed some of the alleged abusers stay on the job. Check the video that Shagger posted above from ReviewTechUSA, he talks about what happened and why everyone is having a fuss over this guy. -
Years ago I remember getting one of those VR headsets you can use with your phone. It was just a cheap plastic thing with lenses to utilize on your smartphone, but honestly they never seemed to work all that well. I finally upgraded to a somewhat newer smartphone and I was curious if it's even worth trying to use VR on mobile? Is there any apps I can use that will make it like VR? I kinda want to try playing some games in VR, but I have no clue how it'd go for most mobile games. Or is it pointless to do VR with smartphones?

Honestly NFTs are still very confusing to me, but it seems they are becoming a big part of the gaming world. Steam isn't going to let NFTs on their platform though, as any games with NFTs or with NFT options will be removed from the marketplace. You can read more about this below: https://www.winston.com/en/the-playbook/steam-bans-nft-and-cryptocurrency-games-implications-and-ramifications-for-the-videogame-industry.html Essentially it's for our protection, as there are scams out there with NFTs, and I think Steam just doesn't want to deal with it. Age of Rust is a game that was removed from Steam due to having NFT options. They tried to speak with Steam about it, but it was a no go and their game was removed. This means that even good games with NFT options, won't be allowed on Steam. This article talks why this ban is problematic: https://www.techinasia.com/steam-ban-nft-games In my opinion, I agree with Steams choice. I know there are safe ways to deal with NFTs, as people are doing it, but I think Steam just wants to play it safe here and make sure no one is at risk. What do you think though? Do you think these games with NFT options will release on other marketplaces? Or maybe on their own? Would you use these NFT options?

Not a whole lot this year. I seem to start games often, but rarely do I seem to finish them. Been playing Wreckfest on PC and have been coming back to that, but I also have to run through Alan Wake Remastered as I have the two dlc side missions to do that I completely forgot about, plis the single player dlc that came out for it after. I finished: Unpacking Alan Wake Remastered - Main story done, dlc missions still to finish with American Night DLC to also complete I can't think of anything else that I finished this year. I've also started Back 4 Blood, but haven't played it since its release. There's probably some games I'm forgetting about as well.
-
I used to go there once in a while after it opened up here, but I rarely have gone since. I got the game informer mag one time around, and maybe purchased 4 games around that whole year. And ever since I've pre-ordered a couple games and that was it. I stopped in to their store a couple times over the years, but never actually purchased anything.

Edutainment games are a genre of games for the purpose of Education. I remember playing a lot of these edutainment games growing one. I remember one time renting an NES game for the weekend, and it was this fire house math game. I wasn't very happy with that rental. Anyway, I don't remember that game being any fun, but are there any fun to play edutainment games that you remember playing? Maybe ones you remember playing in school or at your grandparents house or something. I remember playing that incredible machine game in school. We weren't allowed to play it whenever, but when we were allowed, I played a ton of it. Other than that, I don't remember a lot of the games I played in school.

I agree that they've kinda run out of ideas at this point. But, I disagree that they fit into the subject of this topic. They made remakes, and from what I saw & heard, they worked and played quite well. Honestly I'd say the RE remakes are some of the best remakes we've received so far. Fans seemed very happy with them so far. And let's face it, a new audience isn't going to take a chance on the older RE games, so the remakes were another way to tell these stories to a new generation of people. With a remaster, all that does is put a new coat of paint on it with some changes. I think they made the right choice in remaking the games instead to be more accessible to a larger audience.

Which digital/physical console video game did you spend the most on?
Kane99 replied to Head_Hunter's topic in Gaming Forum
Oh god I forget. I got Fallout 4 with the console, and I think I purchased a few digital games after. I also got a few games from trading sites back then, but it's been so long. I think I got my Xbone in 2015. I've since purchased a lot more games so couldn't tell ya exactly what else. -
This is pretty cool. More gaming history is constantly being discovered these days. And according to an article from Rochester Institute of Technology, alumna Kirsten Feigel found a demo of Super Mario Bros. 3 on a floppy disk while going through a box of donations. What's even cooler, is that id Software was possibly involved in this demo. As they had made demos in the past to help bring Nintendo games to PC. But of course, Nintendo wasn't into that and rejected the idea of porting their games to PC. But, this is a fun find for sure. You can read more on this find at the link below. I wonder if they put this up for charity, how much you think they'd get? I wonder if the files still work. https://www.rit.edu/news/museum-studies-alumna-discovers-rare-super-mario-bros-3-video-game-demo

Games that you wished were on a PlayStation console.. but aren't?
Kane99 replied to Oblivion Knight's topic in Playstation
Well now that Bethesda is under Xbox's ownership, they have already decided that future games will not come to the PS5, so that means a future elder scrolls game won't be releasing on the PS4 or 5. Sucks, because I know Elder Scrolls is huge among all console owners, so seeing it on just the Xbox side is going to bug a lot of PS fans. I wish they would be able to play the new Elder Scrolls at least. But I don't see Microsoft budging there. -
Maybe it's someone who you have never been able to get into games before. Or maybe it's a younger family member who is completely new to video games. I helped my nephew get into video games. He's only 10, and he has already played the likes of Half-Life 2, Portal 1 & 2, Call of Duty and a few others. Sure he probably shouldn't play most of these games, especially Call of Duty, but he's fairly mature for his age and knows right from wrong. Anyway, I have also gotten him into retro games and to try other games he would never have tried. Another person in my family I try to get gaming, is my dad. He used to play the demo for Gran Turismo when I was younger, but that was the only time he ever played a video game. I've always wanted to get him one of those gaming wheels and set him up with a fun racing game and see how he does. I wonder if he'd enjoy that.

Which digital/physical console video game did you spend the most on?
Kane99 replied to Head_Hunter's topic in Gaming Forum
Well as I have yet to get my hands on a series s/x or the PS5, I can't really say for sure. When I got the Xbox One, I think the most I paid for games was probably $60 each for a few games. I don't remember what digital games I got for my Xbox One back when I got it though. But I'd guess around $60-$100 spent on games in the first few months. -
Okay, so this was just a weird coincidence, I just posted a topic about games made by food/beverage companies that have made their own games, link below, and all of a sudden I find this news article just a few minutes ago about a pro wrestler who has collected 2,706 copies of the Burger King Game, Sneak King. Sneak King is arguably the best of the three games released by Burger King, and I guess it's this guys favorite too. His excuse for the collection, is that maybe one day they will be worth a lot and he'd be rich, but it seems to be more for the laughs. I doubt anyone else owns that many copies. But yeah, that was weird lol. Is someone listening in on me or something? lol I wonder if it's because I searched for the Burger King games for my other topic. Either way, das weird. Source - https://sports.yahoo.com/wrestling-man-collects-2-706-184500698.html?src=rss Topic I recently started: Moderator Edit: I understand you posted the second topic because you came across that article (and a fun article, I must say), but there was no need to create a separate thread for this. Hence, that is why I removed the link to the first thread then merged the two together. Remember, every time you create a new thread, you bump another tread down, so I don't feel like I'm asking for much when I ask people to try to be economical when it comes to posting new threads.

Honestly I am okay with this. I think it's better to delay a game, than release it at a time where it's just not ready. I wish more game companies actually allowed more delays. Yeah they suck to happen, and it brings everyone down, but I would rather have a bunch of delays than have another Cyberpunk 2077 or GTA Remastered Trilogy on our hands. Delays are okay.

I'll admit, I've been playing a lot more of Fortnite as of late. I have a few work friends who are into it so I've jumped into the fray. With that, I noticed this game has a ton of character skins released. They are like the funko pop of video games. They license a ton of DC and Marvel characters. So you could see Batman running up against Venom if you wanted to. They license pretty much everything like funko does with their figures is what I am saying. With that being said, there are a lot of characters I like, and there are a lot that I'd like to see added to fortnite. Now, there is a chance that some characters I mention are already in game, because they always re-list characters for sale. And there are a lot of skins in Fortnite with new ones coming out often. My wants are: More Wrestling skins (I wouldn't mind me an Undertaker skin) - I know they have a male and female luchador skin, but that's all to my knowledge. Characters from What We Do in the Shadows - I'd love this honestly, doubt it would happen though Characters from Shaun of the Dead - yis please Darth Vader & other Star Wars characters - I always thought they had Star Wars characters in Fortnite, but I don't think they do. Daft Punk - Why not right? I don't see them in there after breaking up though What skins would you like to see?

Oh man, movie tie-in games were often awful and a waste of time. Most tie-in games were rushed to release so they could make the movie release date. They often came out the day or, or the week of the movie release. But these days it hasn't happened a whole lot. If anything, I think most movie tie-in games, are kids movies and cartoon films. Why do you think they stopped releasing games side by side movie releases? Could it have been the quality of these games? The fact that they were often failures? Or could it be that fan outcry would catch up with it too fast and it would hurt the movie premiere? I'm sure there's a lot of reasons as to why movie tie-ins don't happen as often anymore. I'm glad it's slowed down though. Back in the PS2 and earlier eras, they were so often. I think the 360/ps3 era is when they mostly slowed down.

Is there any realistic surgeon simulators out there? I don't count the current Surgeon Simulator series as realistic in anyway. I view that series more as a puzzle game anyway. I'm sure there are some games out there that offer a more realistic approach to surgery. If not, are there any games that focus on being a doctor in a sim style?

It's weird to say that there has been video games released by fast food joints, food companies, and even popular beverage brands. Pepsi has Pepsiman, 7-up has cool spot, McDonalds had a game called McKids or something, and so on. And remember those Burger King games that came out for the Xbox/Xbox 360 back in 2005-2006 or so? It's so weird that these companies have made or commissioned games to be made about their brand. Are there any other food brands, beverages, or fast food joints that had their own video games? Do you know of any? I feel like there's a lot more that I am forgetting, but the ones I mentioned above are the only ones I can remember off the top of my head. Are there any good games? I heard McKids was pretty good, same with Cool Spot and the Burger King games like Sneak King, and their kart racer has a somewhat cult fanbase. Also, i remember some cereal and other food products would give you interactive CDs and DVDs. Some that I think even had full length games. They weren't anything too impressive, but it was fun to get. Reminded me a lot like when I got CDs with gaming magazines.

True. 2K took off a year to focus on production, so maybe 2K22 will end up being a vast improvement over 2K20. But, who knows at this point. I'm hopeful AEW's game turns out to be the next best wrestling game, because I miss playing good wrestling games. I feel like the last good WWE one at least, was 2K12 maybe. And other than that, I think Retromania Wrestling is fun, but I want my simulation style wrestling more than the arcade wrestling games. Maybe I should just get into fire pro wrestling and see if I can get used to those controls lol.
