Who knows. It could also be one of those cases where someone just happened to design a character that looked nearly identical to another. Now, if this comic book version of GI Bro is popular enough, and the character is copyrighted, then he might have a case. But I can see it being argued that anyone could come up with this look and style.

How do you feel about enemies sneaking up on you from behind?
Kane99 replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Gaming Forum
I don't have a problem with it. It's just part of gaming. If anything, it's more immersive when you're in first person vs something like third person. Because the risks aren't always known to you. For me, it makes me feel like I'm in the game. If an enemy comes behind me, than so be it, I just have to be careful and keep an eye out for what's going on behind me in game as well. -
Everything from the 7th gen and before it I'd say! 😄 This gen and the last gen was mostly microtransactions, but go back to the 7th and below, and you won't have to really deal with any of it.

Nintendo Forced Cancellation of Near-Finished Goldeneye 007 Remake
Kane99 replied to Kane99's topic in Gaming News
They're within their rights to do what they've done in recent years. But, it's hurting their image when they take town fan made projects that were never going to be released for pay anyway. I'd understand if some dude tried to sell a game with Nintendo characters, but that's a different story. They're losing respect from fans because of how they do things. -
The gimmick originated in WCW and I believe was owned by Booker T and not WCW. Vince wouldn't have any legal rights to it after buying WCW. I mean, he also still goes by Booker T, and he even has his own podcast with said name. Vince has tried to copyright names in the past, but it seems these days he only does that when they're the ones who come up with the names. That's why a lot of wrestlers who leave WWE, end up reverting back to their indie names. So people who already have a established name, should be fine as long as they don't sign their name over. The thing is, it seems to be more in line with the G.I Bro comic, as the image in there is really similar. But, now that I remember, he never looked like that in WCW, just had the name of G.I. Bro and looked like this. But, if the comic book he made, is copyrighted by his hand or the comic publishers, he may have a case for how close it is. But I am starting to think it won't make a difference and the case is likely going to be dropped. Here's the comic: GI Bro on left, COD on right.

Are you saying that nothing from that generation can be considered "classic"? I consider RDR1, Skyrim, Ass Creed 2, Batman Arkham Series, GTA IV, COD 4, Bioshock, Dishonored, Alan Wake and various other games as classics from that gen, shall I go on? Because there's a shit ton of classics from that generation. Especially considering that those consoles came out all the way back in 2005/2006. Games that should be made into a mobile version for smartphones.

I love it when a game has their cutscenes and somehow the NPCs are still walking around like nothing is happening. I also love it when character models go crazy and get stuck on geometry during a cutscene. I can't think of anything recent, aside from Cyberpunk 2077 glitches. One mission a dude gave me his gun, and he took it out of his head. I thought that was kind of funny! 😄

Is there drug testing to join an esports league?
Kane99 replied to Kane99's topic in Esports & Competitive Gaming
I'm sorry to hear you went through all of that. I have never touched anything like that myself, cannabis and beer is all I need for me. And I haven't drank a beer in maybe a year or so now. -
I had some old PC mags that I tossed years ago. Wish I kept those too, as going back through them to look at the old tech and the ads gives me that nostalgic feeling. 😄 I had a box full of gaming magazines, but I sadly threw them all away or gave them away to someone. I regret doing it, but at the time I had no space for it. 😞 Same with the comic collection I had. I sold those off, but I didn't have any space for that either. Once of these days I'm going to designate an area for old magazines in my house.

I've been keeping my eyes peeled for this game for some time now, as I am an avid wrestling fan and on the lookout for good wrestling games. Anyway, this is considered to be the spiritual successor to WWF WrestleFest. I don't remember playing it back when I was a kid, but it's something I would have played if given the chance. Anyway, this team has been hard at work on this one. It was supposed to release forever ago, but it's finally supposed to release this month. Check the trailer out below. It finally releases on Feb 26th 2021.

I didn't know this, but I guess some smartphones have water cooling. And I hear the first one was the Samsung Galaxy S7, and more are offering such an option. Does water cooling work well for phones? With water cooling, is there an opportunity to do more stuff on your phone? Like game longer for example?

I kind of wish they do, but the idea of having to buy instruments again is not something I want to do lol. I just remember the first time I played GH with my sister and her boyfriend. We played the hell out of it. Sadly I could never grasp the higher difficulties. I always stuck on the second difficulty, and tried to move up, but my hands are too small for the guitar I think. I've always wanted to try rockband, but that's a different team. Oh, DJ Hero would be dope to bring back. I almost forgot about that. I still need to play through DJ Hero, but from what I played it was a lot of fun. And not as tough as guitar hero I think.

One of my favorite memories was when I opened TMNT on Christmas day. It was the same day I think I got Jurassic Park on VHS. Sadly it's one of the only X-masses I remember back at my old home. I also fondly remember my dad helping me play Gyromite, since I didn't have the ROB robot to utilize it. So I had to use a second controller. I think he used the second controller to open doors for me. Also, gaming with my mom and sister, as they were actually gamers back then. I remember always going to my sis or mom whenever I needed help in SMB3 or any NES game we had at the time. I know I asked my sister to help with TMNT back then. She almost got through those annoying water levels with the grass that shocks you. Yuck, I hated that level. Other than that, I think another childhood memory I can remember is coming home from elementary school with my friends and playing some TMNT 2 the arcade game. And then we'd go outside and play fight until the point we actually do fight lol.

Has anyone heard of this game? I guess it got a lot of backlash when it was originally announced in 2009. Originally Atomic Games was behind the game, and Konami was to publish, but they were dropped by Konami due to fan backlash, as the game depicted a real life event in 2004, during the Iraq War. Supposedly it was a war crime as well, and people weren't into the idea of that being a part of a game. But, the developers do make a good point here: And I kind of agree with that. No matter what, we have games that depict war all the time, hell most games are violent and about guns and death. But, I think games can teach us just like movies or other forms of media about past events in history. Of course, you could also argue that the movies change too much, so it's possible games would do the same. What do you think of this game? Do you think it should be released? I don't know much on what happened in Fallujah. I hear many civilians died during that time, and I can understand why a game like this shouldn't be made. But, I'd argue, if they show the full truth, and show the atrocities of what happened to all sides, I think that would be a fair compromise. This article goes into a lot more details - Cultured Vultures Also, you can check out the trailer below. So, do you think you'd play this game? I'm undecided myself.

I've never heard of GameStar. I mostly read Electronic Gaming Monthly, Gamepro Magazine, PSM (was subbed to this for a few years), and a few more I'm probably forgetting. I wish I took care of all the mags I had, because looking back, I think they would be worth a little bit today. But, oh well. I'll be on the lookout for old mags at thrift stores.

True. They also did the prototype games, and I could see those getting a remastered package set down the road. Also, I know Gun was hugely popular back in the day. I think if they can dig into their back catalog and remaster/reboot some of the games in the PS2 era, they might have something. They could even try their hands at Guitar Hero again, but who knows how that will do after their recent attempt.

Stupid mistakes you’ve made in games that cost you big?
Kane99 replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Gaming Forum
During a mission in Cyberpunk 2077, near the beginning. There's a mission to meet with a woman in her room. This was early on, and I was going to do another mission instead. But, I didn't think, as I went to the woman as intended and changed my mind as I went in. This ended up causing the mission to fail and I couldn't do it again lol. So ever since I make sure not to go to any missions until I know it's one I want to do. I've done this sort of thing in other games, where I decide to do a mission later, but I'm already put in said mission, and leaving fails it. There was another game I did something similar in, but I forgot the title. It was a space game, like Fallout. I feel stupid that I can't remember it, because I played it like a few months ago. -
Maybe not many at this forum, but there is a community of gamers who only use Linux. I wouldn't even say it's a rare thing at this point. It's not as widely supported as Windows, but it's getting their with support from the community and more studios supporting it. Steam works with Linux, and there are ways of making some games work on Linux. It just takes some work to get it working.

As much as Activision sucks, I have to disagree. They do have a heavy focus on COD, but they have a wide history with a fairly big back catalog to pick out of. It's just that these days, their focus is COD, but I feel as if they're starting to calm it down on that. They've had great success with their remasters, like THPS 1&2 remastered, which was light years ahead of their original remaster attempt. And then you got Crash Bandicoot and the Spyro remastered games. Which have been praised by fans and critics. They even published that Sekiro game from Fromsoftware. So to me, it feels as if they're focussing so much on COD. But then again, when they have 3 different studios working on a COD title each, it's easy to get those games out every year for them. But, I wouldn't count them out, as they do still release other games, I just wish they would release more of their classic games, or make reboots or sequels to their past classics. Plus, they have a lot of dead properties that they could revive. I bet Pitfall could do with a new game. 😄

I have a PC/Tablet combo that has Ubuntu on it. I unfortunately can't game on it, due to it being limited in that regard. But it's great for small work here and there.

Is there drug testing to join an esports league?
Kane99 replied to Kane99's topic in Esports & Competitive Gaming
Well I do partake in cannabis personally, so I'm curious if they would allow me in an esports league. 😄 I figure they probably don't care much for cannabis and focus more on the extreme stuff. -
Nintendo Forced Cancellation of Near-Finished Goldeneye 007 Remake
Kane99 replied to Kane99's topic in Gaming News
Well, if anyone really wants to, they can download the build for the game. I won't say where or how, just that it's out there if anyone wants to try it. And since it's mostly done, it's almost the full game. -
Exactly, it's the best dashboard hands down. It's not so bad on the Xbox One, but it just slows the 360 down to a crawl. On top of that, I think the avatars being a part of the dashboard slowed it down even more. The blades dashboard is fast, smooth, and looks great.

With esports becoming more important these days, it got me thinking, do people joining teams have to do drug tests? I figure since it's kind of becoming an actual job, that some organizations may require a drug test. I know it sounds odd, but I can totally see this sort of thing happening if it hasn't already. Especially with how people have cheated in these events, so I can see them making drug tests a priority. What do you guys think?

Here in the US we don't have nearly any arcades, as we kind of moved on from them. But, Japan has always had a lot of Arcades, but with the pandemic, it's causing issues for them. The arcades in Japan would usually get tons of people in, but due to the pandemic, they haven't been getting many people in anymore. There are still some people who show up, but it's miniscule in comparison to what they used to get. Could this spell the end of arcades in Japan? I sure hope not, because there's not many other places that have a arcades. You can read about this news here - Yahoo News
