I'm looking for one without an indicator light, or a light that turns off when the Xbox is also turned off. Because the last hub I used, the light would stay on, and it bugged me since it's in my room. I also don't like that it's getting power while the console is turned off. I just want a USB hub that's more discreet if that makes sense?

I want to get a USB hub for my Xbox One, as the only accessible USB I have is on the left, and I'm not going to move my Xbox around to get to the back one. Anyway, do you guys know of any good USB hubs? I don't need anything with too many USB slots, but maybe 4 at least. Also, any chance of one where the LED light isn't too much of a bother? The one I use now for my PC has a light on it when it's connected. I wish once I turn something off, it also turns that off. Maybe one with an off switch?

Interesting, first the Goldeneye 007 remake was released, and now a playable version of Dinosaur Planet by Rare has be leaked online. I am tempted to look for it, and give it a try. I'm liking that people are starting to release these unreleased games, because it sucks to see they were near completion and never saw the light of day. Also, it's nice that we can save this content from being lost to time. Because I'm sure there's been countless finished games that were ready to come out, and never did because of reasons. Has anyone tried the game? You can read more about this here - IGN

Right now, you can watch a short film festival in Fortnite, today and tomorrow. It's currently live now, so jumping into Fortnite should get you into the event. I am not much for fortnite, but I am genuinely interested in checking this out. I guess it's also a 24 hour event, so I'm guessing from today at 2PM EST to 2PM EST tomorrow. You can read more about it here - Indie Wire And you can also find out more details about the event at the epic page here - https://www.epicgames.com/fortnite/en-US/news/gather-for-the-short-nite-film-festival-watch-film-shorts-in-fortnites-party-royale

So this is good news, especially after EA purchased Codemasters recently. Codemasters will remain as an independent group. From the sounds of it, they will be free to continue like nothing has changed. Of course they will probably be tasked to start something for EA, so we shall see how that turns out. This was EAs idea as well, and they seem cool with it. I hope this means this team can work on whatever they want without fear of getting reprimanded for not making a release date. but, we shall see, because it could end up turning out bad. With EA, you never know. You can read about this here - IGN

You know those little buttons you can put on top of analog sticks? They're meant to help with better precision and such. I have been thinking of trying them out, but am not sure I want to pay $10 plus for a couple pieces of rubber or plastic. Are they really worth it? Do they actually help with the controls? For those wondering, I'm talking about these things.

Rockstar Games Intended To Create Single Player Experience, Says Take Two CEO
Kane99 replied to Kane99's topic in Gaming News
That's the thing though. This is how GTA V came to be. They implemented an online mode after the single player came out. I have a feeling they won't be releasing any story DLC for future games. Rockstar I think is focussed on single player first and then implementing online to keep the game going. -
I finished up Donut Country last night. Pretty fun game, but the achievements don't work on PC. 😞 Oh well, still a really fun game.

I'm hearing that Konami wants to outsource their games to different developers. So it may be more true than I expected. Right now, we don't know who will be taking over Silent Hill, but it's possible they may be hiring another crew to take it over.
-
I think you guys confused the topic. It's about the word "boss" or "bosses", But why do we call it the final boss? Because if you think about it, it doesn't really make any sense to call them bosses. What is a boss? When I hear boss in game now, I think of an employer instead of an enemy. I can blame that on the article for pointing it out, because I never thought much about it.
-
I would totally play games on an airplane. I think more airports will start to implement those options. Imagine playing VR in an airplane, would really heighten the experience I think.
-
I never thought of this before, but an article from Kotaku brought up an interesting discussion about why we say "boss" instead of enemy. Do you find it weird that we say "Boss" battle, or the final "Boss"? But why do we call it the boss anyway? Is it a tie-in to how we hate work and our bosses? Or did we somewhere just pick "boss" and it stuck? Anyway, the article and podcast discusses how the boss term came to be, and what games they first remember hearing the term boss being used. Do you remember any games that may have started it?

Remember Mirror's Edge? It got a remake/reboot a while back, but it was pretty much forgotten pretty fast for how much worse it was than the original game. I remember playing the first game via demo and loving how stunning the graphics looked, and how cool it was to move around so fast. Anyway, why is it that we haven't seen many other games like Mirror's Edge? We've had a few like Dying Light, where it was a mix of parkour and zombie survival. But, I can't think of anything similar to it in recent memory. Is there anything like Mirror's Edge today?

Weird to see, but SEGA is happy with Xbox Game Pass. They are happy about the results, as it has helped some of their games re-gain popularity. Such as Two Point Hospital, which saw them increasing to 3 million players online. They have released many other games on GamePass. Do you think SEGA will start to release more games under GamePass? Maybe they can strike some kind of deal like they did with EA and Ubisoft (soon I think). Maybe all of SEGA's games can be featured on Game Pass. Or maybes SEGA will have their own tier program within Game Pass. It's interesting to think about. You can read this news here - WCCFTech

I like Dark Souls, but I am too trash to complete it. But, I like the gameplay, the story, the style, etc, and would love to play another game like it, but one that's a bit more forgiving on the difficulty. I am one who likes to move fast, and I like to complete a game to see the story. But with Dark Souls, I am not good enough. I just want a game where I feel like an utter badass, and don't have to fight a boss hundreds of times to beat him. Any games like that?

The new Mortal Kombat trailer dropped the other day, and it looks pretty good to me. With that being said, do you think that MK11 will come out with some new character skins to match the look of the movie versions? I think they already did that for the original films, so I could see them doing it with the new movie. What do you guys think? Would be crazy if they made a game based off of the movie. I've seen it done before lol.

Most digital codes should work worldwide unless otherwise noted. But, if you have a US code for example, it won't work in another country. There are a lot of games that never released in the US and other countries. As well, there are other variations and releases sometimes of the same game. So collectors love going for import games too. Unfortunately it's not that easy, and not all games are released digitally worldwide. Some codes can be redeemed worldwide, but some can't be redeemed in other countries. For example, I could get a UK code for a game, and it won't work in the US. It has to be worldwide or open region at least. But even so, not all games will release digitally, and there is still a chance that in order to get that game you want, you might need to import the physical version.

Also, I forgot to mention, that I remember bringing some PS2 games to play in school. It was during a in school celebration, where we didn't have any school. We just hung out, played games, watched movies, etc. I stuck around in one room gaming on a PS2. I destroyed everyone in WWE Smackdown Here Comes The Pain! 😄 Was a fun time!
-
Yes, I think I had that issue too. I think the D-Pad for the PS2 was a bit uncomfortable, because if I remember correctly, each button was it's own and wasn't connected, so I think I remember clipping my fingers on the edge of the buttons. In the past when I got mad at games, I would slap my leg lol.

I used to hunt for achievements, but in recent years I've pretty much dropped that interest. I do try to go for some here and there, but I don't go all out to complete a game in order to get every single one of them. As well, there are a lot of online achievements that are now impossible to get, as some games servers are down and no one's playing them anymore anyway. But yeah, haven't cared about achievements in a long time.

For Silent Hill? Each game is usually a completely different story aside from a couple that were direct sequels. I think 1 and 3 were direct sequels with that one Silent Hill on the Wii also being a sequel/prequel of sorts for the first game. But to my knowledge, the games don't tie into each other. The point of Silent Hill, is that each character enters Silent Hill, and the town changes around them. I don't think it will be a remake or anything like that. With each new Silent Hill, the story is different and you seem to always play as a different person. And in each game, the monsters are different, as the monsters are like fears of the main character. idk if any of what I said makes sense, but I believe that's how Silent Hills story works for the main characters.

Has there ever been a game where you ended up hurting your hand while playing? I know this sounds like a dumb topic, but I have gotten a fair share of hand cramps while gaming, and even one time years ago I got an annoying blister trying to play Track & field on the NES without the mat. I just used the controller, and from what I remember, I had to push fast and like crazy to do some of the events in game. I really went for it though and later in the day had a massive blister on my hand that I had to pop lol. Of course, back then I didn't know you had to have a mat to play, so I was trying to win in the game, thinking it was the toughest game out there. Other than that, I've only dealt with cramps in my thumbs or fingers. I think mostly from Minecraft creative mode, as I used to play that a ton, and I remember building so much that my finger would start to cramp up or hurt. But no injuries or anything. Though, I do worry that one day I might get carpal tunnel syndrome from gaming too much. 😄

Bloober Team has recently made The Medium, a somewhat popular survival horror game. They have announced that they're currently working on an already established horror IP for a popular publisher. Could this mean they're making a Silent Hill game? I could see it happening, but we don't even know if it's a Silent Hill game. It could a horror game from a whole different publisher. This is what the CEO of the Bloober Team said about the project: Part of me wants it to be true, but part of me also doesn't want it to be true. I like what Bloober team has done in the past, but idk if I trust them with Silent Hill. What do you guys think? Read more on this news here - VGC

Found an article from the Guardian, about 20 books about video games, that gamers should read. There's a pretty decent list of books here. I sadly am not much of a reader, but I always get into stuff that revolves around video game history, so I may try to find these books one day. Anyway, has anyone read any of the books on the list? I'm not familiar with any except for a couple I saw on Amazon briefly. I'm tempted to get a couple of them, but don't want to spend too much right now. As well, are there any other video game books you have read and maybe enjoyed or hated? I'd love to find out about other video game themed books.

So Elden Ring could be something huge, as Hidetaka Miyazak (Dark Souls series) and George R.R. Martin (A Song of Ice and Fire books) are working on it together. I didn't see a topic for this game, so I figured it was perfect timing to make one. Anyway, I'm pretty psyched to check this game out whenever it releases. With GRR helping, this could be a very dark game. And we all know how crazy difficult Miyazak makes his games, so I can see it being another Dark Souls like game, but with a Game of Thrones vibe hopefully. 😄 This trailer is from E3 2019, so it's a bit dated, but I imagine it's going to be crazy either way. Oh, and I have no clue when this game is expected to release, but I sure hope it's soon.
