Just looking at Facebook, you will see a 50/50 divide among people. Look at any news article about a popular game, for example, Cyberpunk 2077. That game is all over social media right now, and it seems to be 50/50 divide among fans. What bothers me about how fanboys act these days, is that they feel they're right about what they say. A fan of CDPR will say something like "Give them a break, they said they were sorry, you should know better than to get the PS4 version anyway, you poor saps" Or something along those lines, or they will say "get a gaming PC my guy, everyone should know the PS4 version wasn't going to work". I've seen comments where fans try to claim CDPR did nothing wrong, and the fans are to blame for them rushing it. Even though CDPR lied about it the PS4/Xbox versions working fine. It just boggles my mind how blind some people can be in regards to the actual facts. I know I may sound like I am hating on CDPR and beating a dead horse with this Cyberpunk 2077 nonsense, but I am trying not to. it's just a recent example that works. Just check the facebook comments on posts about Cyberpunk, and you'll see what I mean. This can go for any game, brand, console that has a crazy fan base. For example, TLOU2. The initial thing was how mad they were when so and so died. And then they complained about a woman having muscles that were too big. I watched a playthrough of the game, and I thought it was good, nothing special, but not bad. But, lets not forget how crazy people get about Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo. My god the arguments there. It feels like it's been less and less, because it seems both consoles are doing quite well. But, fanboys still find ways to be annoying. How do you guys feel about fanboys on social media? It can be from gaming to just about anything. But lets stick with gaming related. Moderator Edit: @Kane99's topic on Fanboys seemed very similar to this one, so I just decided to merge them together.

So 2020 is nearly done, thank goodness, but it's not done yet. 2020 may have been the year of Covid, and other nonsense, but there has also been a slew of bad games. Thankfully I haven't played any bad games this year, then again I haven't played a whole lot lately, but that's ok. Because Way To Many Games has a list of the top 20 worst games of 2020 I have not played any of these games myself, but I have head how bad some of them are. Are there any games you played this year, that just turned out to be total stinkers? Maybe something not even on this list?

A desktop setup will always defeat a laptop setup any day. You can probably buy many great gaming laptops that will do the job no problem, but you can always build a better gaming PC. Laptops are also tougher to upgrade, and get outdated a lot faster imo. On top of that, gaming laptops are going to be crazy hot to the touch, especially if you play a high end game. For me, I prefer desktop, but I wouldn't mind myself a gaming laptop either. 😄

For me, my first initial time with a PC was back when my parents got a commodore 64 used from someone. They included a bunch of software and games. I wish I had that software yet, wouldn't mind going through it to see what I had. Anyway, that system didn't last long. Not sure why, but I hear that when they're older, they tend to die out faster. I got the thing in the mid 90s, so it wasn't new by any means. I had it in a shed for years after and I think we eventually tossed it. I regret that, as I wouldn't mind looking it over again to see if I can maybe even fix it. After that, the parents got a windows 95 pc, and that's when I started to enjoy the internet.

I am not a big fan of the battle royale games. I tried to like fortnite, Apex Legends and COD Warzone, but I just can't stick with it. I get too much anxiety from playing with a group, and I am not very good. So when I have to be relied on to help someone, I get really anxious. They're technically not bad games, they do what they're supposed to do and quite well, they're just not for me. But, that's in regards to first & third person shooter BR games. I get into the weird ones like Mario 35, where you play with 35 others playing the same levels. Last survivor wins. I want more of those types of games, more puzzle oriented, or platform oriented.

I forgot about System Shock, but yeah, I'd include that in there too. Alien Isolation, I'm not so sure about. I feel like that game is more of a horror, hide and seek game. But I could be wrong, never fully played it. I've heard of Alpha Protocol, will have to check it out. Outer Worlds yeah, I played that recently and it feels very similar. Only difference is I don't think you can ride vehicles. At least I don't remember you being able to.

I agree, I think it comes down to understanding what the game is, and what it can do. That's it. As long as the reviewer is aware of a mechanic, and shares details on said mechanics, and doesn't leave any details out, I think that's the route to take. Of course, not all reviewers can see everything, but I don't think they need to. I just think they need to touch every aspect of the game, they don't need to complete it 100%, but test the crafting, upgrading, the main weapons, gameplay, hacking, or whatever else may be in the game. The only thing I think that needs to be 100% completed, is the main story, but the rest of the game just needs to be tested once to give gamers an idea what they're in for.

With Cyberpunk 2077 out, it got me thinking, what are some other games out there similar to it? I know there was a blade runner game back in the 90s I think, but it was a side scrolling point and click game if I remember correctly. I know of the Deus Ex series as well. But what are some other games with similar premise, story, and gameplay? I'm just curious to see what other futuristic style games like it exist out there. I'm open to suggestions too. 🙂

Xbox Games for Gold hasn't really been all too great in recent years. There has been some good games in the mix, but the majority of the time, they give away fairly old games that no one wants, and with Gamepass being a thing now, I suspect games with gold may eventually be fazed away. What do you guys think? I figure game pass is way more worth it, considering the amount of games you get, plus it gets you Xbox live, so it feels like it's not even worth getting the basic xbox live anymore. I mean, look at the selection for December, it gets you: The Raven Remastered (XB1), Bleed 2 (XB1), Saints Row: Gat out of Hell (360), Stacking (360). Just feels like they could be adding these games into gamepass instead. But that's just me. What are your thoughts?

This is actually really cool, because this could mean other older consoles could see new life. According to an article on GameRant, a modder known as Shironeko Labs on YouTube, posted a video showcasing ray tracing on the SNES. All of which is being done by a chip according to the article. Imagine this being done for games like Donkey Kong Country, Super Mario World, or something like FZero. You can check the video below.

There was some recent backlash about a Cyberpunk 2077 review, where the person reviewing it, said she only played the story, and did not mess with upgrades, crafting, or anything else really. Her focus was just the game, and people kind of threw a fit about it. I think it's fair to call it a bad review if you don't try most of what's in the game. I don't think people expect someone to go 100% through a game, that's kind of impossible for reviewers. But I think testing out each feature is a must, because I view reviews as a selling point, and I want to know what I'm getting into. What do you guys think? Do you think reviewers should play the whole game? Or play the whole story at least, and try out each other aspect of the game? I'm for the latter. As long as a reviewer tests out each feature, I'm fine. I just want to know what I am getting with a game. It doesn't have to go into full on detail, unless the reviewer really wants to. A guide can be used for those who want a more indepth view of what the game is capable of. At least imo. What do you guys think?

UK politicians call for action against PS5 and Xbox Series scalpers
Kane99 replied to Kane99's topic in Gaming News
Yeah, thing is, the stores need to implement ways of stopping this, and it seems as if they're not really trying, at least from what I see. They probably don't care, because they're still making their profit. Now, if only the US could do something similar. -
Interesting choice. How many FF characters are in Smash Bros right now? I know of Cloud, and now Sephiroth, are there any others from the franchise?

Never dealt with cyberbullying, but I've dealt with my fair share of unruly kids, trolls, and obnoxiously rude people. I was bullied on an old forum I attended when I was a kid, they would photoshop my picture and make fun of my weight. Of course, I was also kind of a jerk to people on the site, so I understand why I was an easy target. These days, I wouldn't say I've dealt with it in years.

Epic Games to make an Among Us style game through Fortnite?
Kane99 replied to Kane99's topic in Video Games
Well, lets not forget that Fortnite came after a game known as PubG, which kind of started the whole battle royale style games, or perfected it at first. It's just Epic Games finding a niche they can possibly take over somehow. Just wait, if this becomes a popular game like fortnite, it will likely take over where Among Us left off. -
Kojima Productions teasing something for the 16th, what could it be?
Kane99 replied to Kane99's topic in Gaming News
That's true, but there has been rumors saying that Kojima may be involved with a new MGS. Of course those rumors could always be false, but a guy can hope. 😄 Anyway, that is not the news we got, instead, we didn't get much of anything. Just a thank you to the fans (which is nice), a desktop background, a video of Kojima winning an award, and a new clothing line. That was it. Kind of peeved they teased something, and didn't follow through with anything big, but I guess that's on me for hoping for a game announcement. -
UK politicians call for action against PS5 and Xbox Series scalpers
Kane99 replied to Kane99's topic in Gaming News
Maybe it's because a lot of the people in politics today are youngins and are gamers. Maybe they couldn't get a PS5 or Series X because of scalpers. 😄 But seriously, this is a good step into the right direction. Now if only the stores selling these consoles, took more measure to stop scalpers, I think we'd be fine. Stores like Wal-mart, best buy, target, etc, need to implement ways to stop the ability to use bots and to purchase multiple consoles under one account. I believe, for now, these stores should only allow 1 console per customer. I really think that's the point we're at. -
It's time for developers/publishers to stop rushing games to release
Kane99 replied to Kane99's topic in Gaming Forum
Yeah exactly. They could have delayed the last gen versions or removed them outright. But, they wanted that extra money, and figured they could fix it later. But that is no longer acceptable, especially when they knew how bad the last gen versions were and still released it. I think if they delayed it again, it would have been a lot less backlash than what they're getting now. No one is going to forget this, CDPR will forever be tarnished because of this launch. -
Here's some interesting news. Epic Games is releasing a new game called Fortnite’s Spy Within, and it will be a murder mystery style game similar to Among Us. You will play as a fortnite character You can read more at this article here - Vulture Beat Is this a game you'd take some interest in? I'm interested, but it does feel like an exact copy of Among Us. Read what they wrote here: There is also a webcam function that you can utilize, called Fortnite video chat. It's from the Houseparty webcam app, that I think was purchased by Epic Games.

Hell yes, I hope they actually do this stateside at some point, because I feel like this has been the worst it's ever been in terms of console launches. I mean, we've had to deal with scalpers every generation, and every time a cool gaming device comes out, the NES Mini for example. But idk, it seems as if this is occuring lots more this generation than past ones. But, that's just me, I may just be forgetting how much scalpers tried it in past gens. Anyway, according to this Video Games Chronicle article, UK politicians are starting to take notice, and are looking to stop people from using bots and such to secure multiple consoles, as well they want to make it a law. They stated this: “prohibiting the resale of gaming consoles and computer components at prices greatly above Manufacturer’s Recommended Retail Price.” You can read about this article below. https://www.videogameschronicle.com/news/uk-politicians-call-for-action-against-ps5-and-xbox-series-scalpers/

It's time for developers/publishers to stop rushing games to release
Kane99 replied to Kane99's topic in Gaming Forum
Yeah, but they did it only after they released the game and were caught. They also did not show any gameplay from the PS4 and Xbox One versions. They showcased the PS4 pro and Xbox One X versions and the new gen versions only. There's really no excuse on their part. They literally lied to the consumers as well, much like EA has done. Even stating that the games on the base consoles played great. And you see now, that's simply not the case, as they're literally offering up refunds until they can patch it early next year. Idk, they probably should have waited until February to release the last gen versions anyway, but studios gotta make the date of delivery. I garauntee if they delayed it another time, the backlash wouldn't be as bad as what they're getting now. Studios need to stick to their guns and not push for a release that doesn't work for them. They knew this game was a broken mess, and released it anyway. Don't get me wrong though, I love this game so far. I'm having a blast with it, but there's no excuse for a game coming out like this, not anymore, especially when it was originally meant for these base consoles in the first place. People forget, the PS4 and Xbox One weren't even out when Cyberpunk 2077 was announced. This goes for every studio out there, stop forcing a street date to happen if your game is not ready. Because this is exactly how problems happen. -
Are you referring to mobile games on smartphones? Where playing them online through your phone provider? If so, yeah it will eat you data up if you're not connected to wifi. That of course, is if it requires an online connection. If it does not, you shouldn't lose any of your mobile data when playing the game offline or even online. It depends on if the game needs an online connection to run, if it does, it will eat up your data like surfing the web would. But otherwise, if it's a game that doesn't require an internet connection, it won't eat your data. Also, this probably should be in the mobile section, as I don't think it has anything to do with general gaming, unless I'm confused.

Are you saying playing video games at home vs. playing them at an arcade? I prefer to stay at home myself, mainly because I don't like to worry about people so much, and at home, it's a lot more comfortable. Game centers/arcades aren't very prevalent here in the states anymore either, so most people will likely stay at home to play with friends and family. Especially now due to covid-19, no one can go out to arcades or game centers.
