I can understand side quests/missions. But I feel as if they should at least touch every aspect of the game. So if there is a certain mechanic in the game, like crafting, building, etc, it should at least be tried once. That's how I feel anyway.

Games where the main quest line is the least interesting to you?
Kane99 replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Gaming Forum
Pretty much all of the Just Cause games, as I honestly did not care for the story or follow it. From 2 to 4, I didn't pay attention to any of the story. I just wanted to get back the game and destroy stuff. lol. That's all that game really is, a fun game to blow stuff up. -
Yeah a few of them were testers. They're part of the Super Best Friends on YouTube. They used to do lets play on YouTube, and a couple of them would talk about testing certain games often in their videos. Mostly talking crap about how awful certain games where lol. I think it would be fun to make friends at a job like that though.

Is anyone here familiar with the Sega Saturn? It was the obscure console that came out before the Sega Dreamcast. It was their answer to the PS1, but sadly didn't sell all too well in the states. My dad ended up getting two used Sega Saturn's for just $37 back in the early/mid 2000s. I got Virtua Fighter, Virtua Cop, and a few other games with it. Sadly I sold the boxed up one to a Play n trade store years ago. I still have one of the Saturns and I have the virtual cop/fighter games. I even still have a couple of my lite guns for the console. Sadly, my controller for it is damaged, so I need to find a replacement if I ever want to replay it. But yeah, do you remember the Sega Saturn? I actually kind of liked it. Felt different then other consoles.

Or like when a studio has to make a new ending because the ending to a trilogy didn't go the way fans wanted. In case you're wondering, I'm referring to the ending of Mass Effect 3. Fans weren't' happy, and they ended up making a free DLC to end it differently. For any games that have DLC that continues the story, they should patch that ending in eventually so that when those DLC's get removed, an update to the game would just give it to everyone. More studios should do this if they ever expect their DLC to be removed.

The Witcher 3's storyline is too long according to devs
Kane99 replied to m76's topic in Video Games
My big issue with the witcher 3, was how many menus the game had. I felt extremely overwhelmed by the amount of stuff you could do, and I kind of just gave up because of it. Cyberpunk 2077 is a whole different story, as it feels a lot more laid out and understandable. But the witcher 3, for me, felt too overwhelming. Like it was just too much. I want to give it another chance though.- 17 replies

I heard it was released recently, but I think I confused it with the news that consoles were being shipped to backers. Or so I've heard. Anyway, it officially launches in March I think. I don't know how the people running this company can think it's going to sell on nostalgia alone. I can't see that happening. This thing is not going to sell, and Atari will be sold off to the next highest bidder.

I don't usually buy physical games anymore, so I tend to just get the digital version. I think it's because I'm lazy to wait for the game to be delivered, then install it, and so on. Then have to put the disc in whenever I want to play. Digital is just more useful. But I understand that people would like to have the game in their collection.

I never played the game myself, but always wanted to. But after watching him play this, I think I'll pass. Angry video game nerd has steered me away from a lot of bad games. 😄

Cyberpunk 2077 Save Data Could Be Corrupted If File Size Is Too Large
Kane99 replied to Kane99's topic in Gaming News
Thank goodness, as I have been wanting to update my crafting ability and have been too scared about my save file going corrupt. -
True. They have all these studios that could be releasing some new games. I think we need to start seeing some exclusives soon though. Anyway, I'm good with MS buying more studios, but I would like to see more games coming soon.

Get to a point where games can be played in our heads?
Kane99 replied to Kane99's topic in Gaming Forum
Yes and no. Just anything in the future where your brain can control the game. If it be via electrodes that's cool too. I sadly don't think we'll see anything like it in our lifetime, but maybe we'll see it at some point. 🙂 -
When it comes to games and microtransactions, I'm not much of a fan. Now days, a lot of games offer options for loot boxes and other microtransactions. I view it as gambling. Do you know anyone who was addicted to buying loot boxes and microtransactions? I've been hearing that more people are going into debt because of it.

Do you ever think we'll get to a point where video games can be played inside of your head? I believe we'll get somewhere at some point, where we can utilize our brains a lot more, maybe even to the point of recording our thoughts and ideas. Do you think we'll ever get to the point where games can be played inside of our brain somehow? Maybe I'm thinking too futuristic.

Um, I don't know whether to believe this or not, but Tom's Hardware has an article discussing KFC's video game console, KFConsole. Yes, you heard me right. Now that KFC has landed in the short movie game, they're also making a console. This is so confusing to me lol. But it's for sure real. There's literally a page for it on cooler master right now. Games that are broken messes no one seems to talk about as such?
Kane99 replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Video Games
I don't think is has anything to do with unrealistic expectations. I think it's fair to expect a game to release in a playable state. Sure we expect big RPGs to have glitches and bugs here and there, but with CP2077, it's a whole different story. The studio literally lying about the last gen version being ready to go, when it was not. The devs knew this, and yet the leaders decided to release it. Bethesda is known for releasing buggy games. From Fallout 3, New Vegas, Skyrim. All of them were often buggy. But, to my knowledge, I don't recall anything too game breaking for the time. Though I imagine there was. Mass Effect Andromeda got the same treatment because it was downgrade from previous Mass Effect games. As well, the studio was forced to rush release yet again. Which is a big problem with EA's studios. The key thing here, is that people are tired of getting broken games, because it's happening a lot more these days with the whole "we'll release it now, and fix it later mentality". Gamers are just tired of being lied to, and paying for broken games, etc. -
Buggy games can qualify for worst. I will admit, CP2077 isn't the worst game of the year, but I think it's fair for some to say it's the worst considering how the PS4/Xb1 ports were. Of course, that is their opinion, but to each their own. I love the game, but I understand why some would consider it one of the worst of the year based off of how buggy it is. Bugs can bring a game down a lot.

Can't say I noticed it either, probably because I rush through that area too. Next time I play, I might try that out and see it for myself. Or I could just watch it on YouTube. 😄

I don't mind when games get political or try to use politics. But I don't like when they preach politics. Thankfully that doesn't happen a ton in games, at least not to my knowledge. But as long as the politics aren't in your face, forcing you to follow a certain way, then I'm totally fine.
-
Oh for sure, the PCs alone are going to run you a ton. Plus that desk is probably crazy expensive as well. The monitors too, my goodness looking at it again makes me feel super poor lol. But yeah, it's still a dream to have something like that.

Naughty Dog was asked if they would do a sequel to TLOU2, but the way the game ended, I could see it being the end of the series. It wouldn't need a 3rd game. If anything, i feel a 3rd game would be overkill, as the stories we got, look to be closed. I don't think people will accept playing as Abby again, but I can see them being down with Ellie one more time. But, I don't think that will happen. If a 3rd game in the series is made, it will probably have to do a time jump into the future again. Maybe it can be a new set of characters, born into this world. Do you think a 3rd installment will happen? I mean, the first two games made a ton of money, and a 3rd will only continue that trend.

It was actually a dream of mine for a while to become a game tester. But when I found out that you're stuck on the same section for a long period of time, I dropped that interest quickly. I think it would still be cool to be hired by a gaming company, but that would go away fast when I'm stuck doing the same tedious task for hours. I would rather be involved with working on story, or working with the ideas. Or maybe help with sponsorships and events around it.

A game I've been thinking about as of late for some reason, is Metal Gear Solid 3. For some reason, I feel this game doesn't get the recognition it deserves. I remember playing it around the time it came out, and falling in love with how weird the story was. As well, that final boss fight was one of the best, and most depressing. But I always had a blast playing it. I remember taking out The End before you actually had to face him in the jungle. There is a point in the game where you see him outside in some area. If you're fast enough, you can snipe him out from here, essentially stopping the boss fight between you two later on. I always thought that was a cool touch, especially for a PS2 game. You don't see that a lot with newer games these days.
