I rarely pre-order anything these days. The only pre-order I do have, is for the upcoming Cyberpunk game, but that was because they put it on sale for $49.99, so I couldn't miss that. Now I just need to play the waiting game. Anyway, the last game I pre-ordered before that, was probably GTA V for the 360. Yes, back in 2013 was the last time I pre-ordered. I just never see the point in pre-ordering. Most of the time the extras you get for doing so aren't really worth it. I don't care about getting extra cosmetics or guns. I just want more story and DLC to be included. Or maybe some extra physical goodies to make the pre-order worth it. We really don't need to pre-order though, that's the thing. It is kind of pointless. It's not like most games will sell out. It's just the studios and stores wanting to get money as quickly as possible. Hell, some people don't even fully pay off their pre-orders. If I remember correctly, it's like $5 you have to put down to start a pre-order at a place like Gamestop. I heard that there are many people who put down that initial $5, and then don't pay anymore and some even forget they have that money. So Gamestop gets to keep that money. But yeah, just a small rant on pre-ordering. I don't see a point in it, unless you get physical extras in the package.

I am only aware of the Razer brand of gaming phones, but I know there are other companies out there trying their hand at making them as well. What are some other good gaming phones worth checking out? The Razer Phone 2 from what I see is going for around $900 or so. I imagine the newer phones on the marker from Samsung and Apple are going to be able to play some games too.

I installed DOSBOX on my current PC but haven't messed with it much since. There are a ton of old games I want to give a try one of these days, so here's hoping the ones I try all work.
-
I never played it, but I wasn't really interested in ever playing it to begin with. At the time as well, I never owned a good quality PC anyway. Maybe if I had a good PC back in the day, I would have given it a try.

This is interesting news if true. It looks like the prices for the Xbox Series X and Series S have been leaked. The price for the Series X is said to be $499, like many rumors previously stated. But, the Series S is more interesting, as it's only going to run you $299. This is a smart move on Microsoft, as the $299 console could be a hot seller. Exactly. There's no way we're ever going to get to a point where we can play lag free. Hell standard games today still lag like crazy when gaming online. I get around 125 Mbps internet right now, but I imagine we'd need hundreds more just to run somewhat smooth, and even then it's not going to stop the input lag and game lag.

Yeah, Amazon seems like a possibility. I would say Google as well, but Stadia has been quite a failure since release and I suspect it won't be around too much longer. But, who knows, Google can always try to throw their hat in the ring again. Or they may make Stadia worth it at some point. The downside to not releasing any hardware and just going with streaming, is that most ISPs can't 100% support it. Mine can I believe, but even so, it's not going to be a smooth experience. But, I am hopeful for streaming to take off. Hmm, never considered Razer, but they could easily build up a gaming machine. They make PCs, and have a gaming phone, so it's possible. I'd actually welcome that.

There's been many companies to try their hand at making their own consoles, but in reality, most of them don't succeed. From Panasonic, Atari many times over, Apple trying and then moving on super fast. What company could you see making their own console? Could it maybe be Apple throwing their hat in the ring again? Or maybe a company like Facebook will jump in, or maybe Amazon. Amazon already has their own gaming studio, so it's possible we could see a console from them. What companies could you see making their own gaming console?

Right now, streaming games doesn't work all that great, and it may not be great for a long time. Streaming games is extremely tough and takes a lot of bandwidth. It's not like movies, music and tv, it's much more intensive. We already see the likes of Google Stadia, Xbox X Cloud and I believe Nvidia and a few others are trying to jump into the ring. But, they all fail at the thing they're intended to do, and that's play games. Sure you can play them, but you're bound to face a ton of lag, input lag, and game outages. There is no way most ISPs can handle game streaming. I have charter and I bet they would start to throw a fit if I streamed games a lot. Anyway, I see streaming as a future possibility, but it won't work until we take down the amount of lag and latency issues, and we should be good. It'll take time, but so did the internet, and it's still growing.

Facebook has their hand in the streaming market as well, but it's a more open market as pretty much anyone can stream on Facebook. Of course, Gaming has their own section and it got me thinking. Since Facebook has their game streaming options, do you think they'll be doing any esporting events? I can see Facebook starting their own league. They have the money to do just about anything they want, and I can see them getting involved with esports in some ways. What do you think though?

Cyberpunk 2077 is coming out this November. I have my pre-order set and can't wait to play. Who here is picking it up? Do you think it's going to be 2020's game of the year? I am hopeful it turns out to be an awesome game, with an awesome story and great characters, but I am worried it's going to be over hyped. What do you think? Is it a contender? I suppose we'll find out when it releases.
-
Yeah I think I'm going to pick it up in a few days here. Been craving it ever since they announced it, so I need to play it. Last time I played a good TH game was probably when Underground 2 came out. I don't think I touched Proving Grounds or any other TH games. And yeah, the THPS5 was a train wreck. I was going to originally get the original remastered THPS1, but never jumped. Good thing I waited on this. 😄

What console do you see winning the next console gen?
Kane99 replied to Kane99's topic in Gaming Forum
For VR to truly take over, I think it would have to be priced more towards what consoles are going for these days. Isn't PS VR like $400 separate? If they can figure out a way to make a console and a VR headset and charge $400, then we're talking! 🙂 -
I totally understand that. And you can totally use Tetris for that. It's a great time waster. I have tetris on my phone as a backup for whenever I'm somewhere with minimal internet. This way I have something to do to kill the time. 😄

Nintendo Officially Announces A Trio Of Super Mario 3D Remasters
Kane99 replied to DylanC's topic in Gaming News
Yeah, I'm happy they're bringing this out, but the whole March 2021 thing is bugging me. On top of that, these remasters don't change a whole lot it seems, they just made them look prettier, which is fine I suppose. I would love to see a remastered remake of Super Mario 64 in the style of Mario Odyssey or something. -
The new generation of gaming is fast approaching. Both the PS5 and Xbox Series X are expected to drop sometime this holiday season, likely in November. Nintendo is rumored to also be jump into the ring with a possible updated 4K Switch. If each of these consoles come out soon, who do you forsee taking the lead? I can see Sony winning in the start, but once Nintendo jumps in, I think they will end up taking the lead. Don't they currently have the lead with the current switch? Or is it the PS4? Either way, what console do you think takes the lead? What console takes the whole generation though near the end?

So Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2 came out a few days back and I've been hearing a lot of good things about it. I hear it's a very respectful remaster of the original 2, with some changes made to both games to modernize it. I guess some portions of 2 and other games show up in both games, which makes the games a big different from the original versions. Anyway, do you guys like the game so far? I'm thinking about picking it up soon, but idk if I want to spend $40 on it.

I've been hearing a lot about the new Avengers game, and how it's essentially a Destiny clone. I've been watching YouTubers discuss how it's just a micro-transaction mess with emotes costing upwards of $10-15. Just everything they're doing, feels like a cash grab. Do you plan to play it? I was very hopeful for this game, but when it turned out to be something like Destiny, I changed my mind. I see no point in buying this game. I might get it on sale years later just to take on the story, but once done, I'm done. I have a feeling this game has very minimal replay value.

This is kind of old news, but I don't see any mention of it here, so I figured I'd make a topic about it. For Mario's 35th anniversary, Nintendo is releasing a special edition Game & Watch that replicates what they used to look like, but has Super Mario Bros, and The Lost Levels (Super Mario Bros. 2 in Japan). It also comes with a version of a Game & Watch game, but with Mario instead. As well, you can use it as a clock. I guess it has cool animations. I kind of want it just for that purpose. Just look how sexy this thing is: https://gameandwatch.nintendo.com/ It's going to cost ya $49.99 though.

I loved AC2, Brotherhood, Black Flag, Rogue and Syndicate. I stopped after Syndicate. I got Odyssey on sale a while back and have yet to play. As well, had Unity for years now and still haven't played it lol. The series has gotten better from what I see, but I still have fatigue with the series and I feel like they have't changed it enough.

Black Myth: Wukong, a new Chinese Action Adventure RPG
Kane99 replied to Shagger's topic in Gaming News
I think it looks promising, but I'm not putting too much into it until I know what the final product will be. The game so far looks pretty dope, but I'll wait on more before I throw my opinion out there. -
Anyone else find the PS5 direct pre-order invites a bit unsettling?
Kane99 replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Gaming Forum
I thought Sony was just doing a simple "sign up to be notified kind of thing." Or a sign up to be one of the first to get a pre-order. I don't recall seeing anything about them using your PlayStation history to pick people. But I could be wrong. Do you have a source for this information? -
I love tetris. It's a classic! I can understand why people get bored of it, but it does get challenging as you keep going. It's one of those games I can play to relax and unwind. If you feel original Tetris is boring, maybe try the more advanced versions of tetris. There was a recent tetris game that came out and it was a lot of fun as it changes a lot to the formula and adds stuff to it. I forgot the title, but it's probably the newest one.

Do you guys know of any good 8bit/16bit games that work on mobile? Specially in the style of platformers and or other popular retro games? I'm just kind of played out of the annoying mobile games made for phones. I want real games to play, nothing that requires micro-transactions to have fun either.

Nintendo may have been one of the first to try VR with their Virtual Boy console that came out in the 90s if I remember correctly. It was a promising little toy, but it wasn't practicle and didn't work all that well. But, couldn't Nintendo revive the Virtual Boy and make a new one that matches the standards of the Oculus Rift or any of the other VR headsets out there? I think it's possible and I would love to see Nintendo revive the brand. What do you think?
