  1. Did the updates stop or was it because they weren't marketing the game enough? Because when it first came out, I felt like even then they weren't putting much effort into marketing it, and I think that too could have been a reason it failed. And, if they updated the game to fix the gripes people had, it might've even done better.
  2. What are your feelings on modders who mod retro consoles and games? Like those who use real parts. Like recycling the shell and carts to make ROM hacks, or to mod the console to play on newer hardware (HDMI modded in). How do you feel when someone donates what was once a Super Mario Bros 3 to be used as a ROM hack? I could maybe understand an old sports game, but NES sports games are popular and some are regarded as classics in their own right. Essentially the question is, how do you feel when someone mods a retro game, and possibly ruins its original retail value and worth?
  3. When it comes to your gaming collection, how do you usually store it, or shall I say show it off? For me I tend to just put my games on a shelf, for their own consoles. So PS2 in their own section, Xbox in its own, etc. I used to alphabetize my collections, but I got a bit lazy, so I would usually just store my favorites to one side and the rest I have below that kinda. What about you though? Do you like to store it alphabetically? Or maybe by its franchise? So Call of Duty games will get its own section, Madden gets its own section, etc. Or you could go based off of the genre of game, so shooters, fighters, etc get their own respective sections.
  4. I subscribed to Gamefly back in the mid 2010s or so, and liked what it offered. But ever since, I never bothered with the service again. I think now, with services like GamePass and what PSN Plus offers, it's going to eventually kill off GameFly and other rental services. It's still crazy to me that rental services like this still exist. Much like Netflix (who I hear still sends out DVDs). Anyway, does anyone here use Gamefly to play their games? Their prices for subscriptions don't look too bad, and I could see myself affording it. But with Gamepass I don't see a point, at least for me. But would anyone here still consider GameFly and other rental services?
  5. You gotta be careful with any sites that sell keys/codes etc, including CDKeys. I don't know Joltfun, so I can't judge on that. But I believe some people have gotten away with selling used/fake keys on CDkeys before. Much like G2A and other sites. Especially if they allow people to sell codes themselves. CDkeys and Joltfun may be more reliable, but there are still risks. Yeah I believe some said you could gift them to people, but I think there were some that couldn't. I forget as I haven't gotten a humble bundle in a while. I think it's more to do with people selling the codes second hand, like they recognize you didn't redeem the game on your account and get you that way. I may be wrong on that though, but that's how I see it. I don't see why it'd be a problem to gift any codes you get. Even to resell them, they should be yours to do with as you please.
  6. If I use a laptop, I'm usually using it plugged into the outlet. I will sometimes use my laptop unplugged, but it's rare. I mean, I sit in the same spot with it anyway, and I don't take it out of the house ever, so I don't see a point in unplugging it unless I am on the go. As for screen brightness, I tend to turn that down low, for one, when I do unplug it, it saves on battery life, and two, it's better on the eyes. I also use the night light mode where it turns your screen a yellow tint to help with the blue lights.
  7. Right? Like damn, let the devs work. I get having a deadline, but maybe if there are problems reaching said deadline, and it's been a problem for a bit, maybe extend the deadline a bit later next time. But that's what these big studio heads do. They push and prod their developers in making the games as fast as they can to meet a street date. But, I think these studios are taking notice to the amount of failures that have come out, and are hopefully going to wait until a game is "ready" before actually shipping it. If another Cyberpunk 2077 happens, it's going to end that game. I think the actual developers need to be the leaders going forward. No more of these rich CEOs running the whole show.
  8. Ah that makes sense. I wish I knew all of that stuff myself, to be able to code my own game would be so cool. But I don't have the patience to learn it. Back on Windows XP, I can see it being vastly different. And that's fair. Game development has changed a lot, some for the better and some not, but I think we're going into a good direction where more people can code games with the many tools available to them now. Have you considered messing with modern tools/programs to make a game? Like Unity for example? I hear they make these engines easy to work on, so more people can potentially make their own games.
  9. I have never played the Fatal Frame series, though I have watched playthroughs of some of the games. It's one of those games I am not good with. Some horror I can handle, but this type of horror is not my thing. Looks like the game is getting an updated re-release on pretty much all consoles, including the Nintendo Switch. It's a remake of the original game that came out on the Nintendo Wii back in 2008. Is anyone playing this? It dropped on the 9th.
  10. Has anyone here played the demo for the games opening? It's essentially the same opening we know, but amped up. I saw a playthrough of the demo, and damn was it intense, much more intense than when I played the VR version on the meta quest 2 recently. I can only imagine how much tougher this will be in VR. I can't wait to play it. :D
  11. Imagine if we got what The Office did as a tablet. The Pyramid! Imagine what gaming on something like that would be like.😄 But yeah, this is in no way something I'd want, but it was clearly a joke about how companies will try any gimmick to get sales. Now what I could see working, is if it was half of the device, the other half connects at the bottom making it into a bigger tablet, one actually resembling a real tablet. Like what I posted below. Not the greatest, but it's an idea I suppose, and I kinda got it from the Office and a mix of those newer flip phones.
  12. I just hope this delay is enough to release it in a playable state. And I hope it isn't a broken game at release, but I'm starting to be reminded of other delays in recent memory, and that's not good. Anyway, if it does release with problems, it was probably the higher ups pushing for it to release sooner than later.
  13. It doesn't make sense at all, especially since this game looked fairly fine to begin with. I don't even know what big changes they made aside from making it look better visually and a few other things here and there. But I found more issues with this release according to the article below. I guess it's a completely different version of the game, so different that anything added to this version, will not work in the original game. I'll quote the article a bit below: https://www.windowscentral.com/gaming/xbox/the-outer-worlds-spacers-choice-edition-a-disappointingly-appropriate-name The fact it's being priced for $60, and there's no upgrade options for the original game, seems scummy to me. This is just dumb. There was no reason for this game to get a remaster already. And the way they're making you jump through hoops to get a discount for owning the original game is annoying as well.
  14. With Skyrim I usually do a mix of story and side quests. Sometimes more side quests, and other days I mix it up and do more story missions. If I finish the main game before the side quests, I will feel motivated to finish those up. Usually once I finish everything, I call it quits. I haven't really gone back to Skyrim much after finishing it. But, it is something I'm due to play again soon, I feel I need to. There is a game that comes to mind where I don't usually bother with side missions. I usually do the main story and destroy stuff. Aside from that, I don't bother doing the racing missions, or any of the other side missions. I did collect all items in one of the Just cause games, but I forget which one at this point. But yeah, some games side missions/quests aren't worth it sometimes.
  15. When I have kids, I plan to slowly get them into video games. I had the idea of getting them started with the early consoles first like; NES, SNES, Genesis, older pc, etc. And then eventually show them to the games to follow. I think it'd be fun to show them the start, just so they know where gaming started, or sort of began or was popularized. Seeing my nephew playing video games for the first time, where he knew what to do, was a joy to see. Seeing him do better in some games was even cooler. He kills at Portal and Portal 2, and is a huge fan of the Half life series already, and has beat those games over and over now. I wish I could get into the Half Life series like him haha.
  16. Oof, this is not good. I am not a Pokemon player, but this kind of thing can result in players being reimbursed. Especially if it results in hours and hours of saves being lost with no chance of getting them back. It reminds me of the time I got a PS2 demo disc from PlayStation Underground. This disc had a demo for Viewfitul Joe. When playing this demo, it actually deletes all of your saves files on any memory card connected to the console. I had one card on there and lost my save for GTA San Andreas and a few other games. I was very far in GTA SA and was pissed off when I found out what happened. I heard a while later that the issue was well known and Sony was offering free copies of one of the Sly Cooper games to make up for it. Sadly I didn't call them in time to take them up on the deal. But I can see Nintendo offering a free game for the mistake, especially if the save files are unrecoverable. Which is dumb at this point, all games should have cloud saves as a backup at this point, or the saves should be held on their servers.
  17. I think the bigger the better, maybe around what the Steamdeck has now days. I can do smaller of course, but I think the size of the Switch and SteamDeck would be good. Or a smartphone even, as most new smartphones have decent sized screens.
  18. And it's Bethesda we're talking about, they're known for releasing stuff half baked or in a broken state. I don't think they want another Fallout 76, or to deal with what Cyberpunk 2077 dealt with. They should just delay it, and say we'll announce a release date when we're ready. They need to stop giving another date when we know they clearly aren't going to fulfil that date, or if they do, they end up releasing a half baked product because they were pushed to release unfinished or in a broken state. These studios heads need to stop setting release dates, let the development happen. Once you have a working game, then announce it. These studios make the mistake of announcing a new game years before development sometimes, and it's as if they don't get why fans are annoyed about it. It's annoying seeing the endless delays, new release dates, and then rinse and repeat.
  19. When I first played it, I thought there was more, so didn't know what to do originally. But I knew Agent 47 wasn't dead, was just stuck on what to do next. Think I even used a guide back then lol. But yeah, no way would they ever kill off 47. I mean, he is a clone himself, hence the name 47, but I don't think they would ever kill him off and replace him with someone else. I would like to see him take on one of his clones as a protégé. He's fought clones in the series a few times. Plus I think he was tasked helping a young girl who was cloned the same way he was, to be a killer. I think he helps train her to do good or something, but I forget. I think that was in Absolution. I know you have to protect a girl who has your skills or something.
  20. If anything it's already due for a new model. Most console generations last 5 years, and Switch was already a dated console at release, which is a think Nintendo is known for. But, they do fine because a handheld console doesn't need to have the best hardware around, but it sure would be nice. Anyway, I think we'll eventually hear some rumbling about a new switch soon. It's about due time that they announce a new console, and I hope they go nostalgic and call it the Super Switch. I would love Nintendo forever if they went that route. :D
  21. Didn't the original game take place in LA? Or was it Florida? Or was it something like Hawaii? I forget lol. But yeah, I'm sure they will exaggerate things a bit. Do you guys think it'll get delayed again? I have a feeling we're going to end up getting another delay, unless they stay true to the release date. If so, I hope it doesn't release with problems. I want this release to go good.
  22. I'll reserve my judgement for when the game officially releases. My guess is this will get delayed further and we will have to wait longer. This game needs something to set it apart from all the other games, and I don't think they can figure that out. I wonder if this game will even release.
  23. Expect to see more popular games get a tv treatment soon, people are taking notice to gaming as a respectful place to find potential tv shows. The Last of Us shows they can make something brilliant, so now it comes down to these game companies dishing out money to make movies on their IPs. I think a show is the way to go for this honestly. It lets you flesh out your characters more. I could see Uncharted make a series, even with the movie being a thing. But even better, I think the next best move for Lara Croft is to get her own tv show. It would make sense as we can see her rise from he young years to the Tomb Raider we know her to become. I'm sure tv studios are taking notice of games more and more. But now they're going to take them more seriously, to match the quality of The Last of us Show. The Last of Us first game couldn't have worked as its own movie. I think the tv show does it right in showing us this wider picture that a movie couldn't.
  24. Yeah, it felt like it went backwards. My thought was that it would have you wrestle in arenas as usual, but you could take the battle backstage. But when I saw it was set only back stage I was like nah. But to be fair, the Mayhem game was far superior to the earlier games like WCW Nitro & WCW/nwO Thunder on the PS1. Those games were even worse. Thankfully the N64 faired better with WCW/nWo Revenge and WCW Vs nWo World Tour.
  25. Covid helped spur sales, especially in digital due to everyone being home, or working from home. I remember hearing stories about the video game industry thriving during the pandemic, aside from the fact that it did kind of hurt game development. Developers seemed to adapt, as now many studios work with developers all over the world. The gaming industry profited a ton during Covid. Thankfully covid seems to be on its way out. So developers can now work together again in person. Though I think many have decided to keep working from home.
