I feel like we're at a point where VR is highly adoptable for most gamers. You can get an Meta Quest 2 for around $400-$500. You don't need a PC for it either, it has its own marketplace and games. It's not as good as a Valve VR or whatever other VR headsets are out there. I tried my nephews on my PC and it didn't work so great. You either need a really good PC to play it in VR on PC or it just doesn't work. It's more affordable than ever, and I think it's here to stay. I think soon enough Xbox will put one out, or they will let gamers use any VR headset on the market, which would be huge for them I think. It would be nice to see more VR games, and really good ones. Like the Half Life Alyx game, and a few others.

What game would you like to see in VR that isn't?
Kane99 replied to Shortie's topic in Virtual Reality
Yup, COD and that Omni device you can get to run in real time. I can imagine how crazy that'd feel in VR. But yeah I second COD as well, it'd be crazy hard to play in VR with how much easier I imagine it is playing via a keyboard & mouse or gamepad. -
This shouldn't be happening when they're out there attempting to buy another company. If you have all of these studios and money, why not wait on the whole acquisition of Activision and company, and instead focus on growing the studios you got now. Microsoft should be putting their money into the studios they have now, to make exclusive titles. Which they should have been doing for forever now. It doesn't seem right that 10,000+ employees are let go, when they are tossing up this much money for companies left and right.

And they now know why this live service model for a game that had little to no replayability, was a bad idea, hopefully they won't make the same mistake again. The Avengers was one of those games people were hoping would turn out to be something special, but it turned out to be a failed attempt to cash in on the live service gaming. People realized there wasn't a future for this game and probably peaced out. And now they are closing up shop. I was hoping for a single player or co-op story driven game where I could play as any Avenger I wanted to. I wanted what they did with the recent Guardians of the Galaxy game Square Enix and them did. Maybe one day they'll actually make a good Avengers game.

Vulgarity In Video Games, Especally NPC Prejudice/Bigotry
Kane99 replied to The Blackangel's topic in Gaming Forum
If anything I think vulgarity and offensive content is starting to fall away from video games, tv and movies. I think studios are starting to change the language a bit to not offend anyone. RDR2 isn't a good example since it is based on a time where the language was constantly offensive in nature. We still have offensive language today, but I feel like more games and tv/movies are starting to stray away from using that language. Back in the 90s and early 2000s you'd hear homophobic slurs in movies/tv all the time. And it went untouched for a long time, but now days you rarely hear it in anything, unless it's based in the early 2000s,90s or earlier where that language was used a lot in public. Also with RDR2, I don't recall it getting too offensive with its language. I know the N word and other racial slurs are said in the game, but to my knowledge, I don't remember hearing it used too much. I'm sure there was other racial and homophobic slurs tossed in to the mix as well, but I don't recall the dialog saying too much offensive. I'd imagine RDR1 was a bit more offensive and even that I don't recall things getting overly racist. This isn't Django Unchained where the N word is probably tossed around every few minutes. And the cool thing with RDR2, is that it shows a posse that is mostly against racism, except for maybe a few of them like Micah, but fuck Micah. Media has changed a lot in the past 20 years I'd say. I remember when movies said dumb shit all the time, and now days it's relatively tame in terms of the language they use. I think the worry comes more from the gamers who throw around offensive language in multiplayer games. Lets be honest, that's where things get bad. Game lobbies are the same way they were back in the early days of Call of Duty. I remember hearing everything under the sun when I played COD back in the day, and from what I hear, public COD lobbies for example, are much of the same. Constant arguing, racism, homophobia etc. I think games are striving to get away from that language for the most part, it's just that gamers are keeping that language alive. I blame it on the gamers for the most part, they're the ones saying most of the hateful things. -
I think if they can implement cloud gaming more, much like what Xbox is doing, we'll start to see more people playing on mobile. That or they make more controller connections that make gaming on mobile more fun, in turn drawing more quality games to hopefully come out.

Do you feel battle passes are just the norm now in games?
Kane99 replied to Shortie's topic in Gaming Forum
Well to be fair, EA has Apex Legends which is free to play and has a similar battle pass system to Fortnite. But I know games like Battlefield often have their own battle passes, and that is often a $60-$70 game as well. -
Depends on what your gaming preferences are. I think if you have a gaming PC, a good mouse and keyboard is a must. I use a HyperX keyboard. Not one of their expensive ones, was just like $40 or so. I forget. And I had a better mouse, but am currently using an Amazon Basics mouse. Nothing special. Probably not good for gaming. Which is why I use a gamepad. The gamepad I currently use is the Power A Fusion controller. I got it originally for Xbox, but it works for the PC as well, and aside from the analog sticks falling apart, it's a decent controller. Lasted me longer than most Xbox 360/One controllers have. Also if you're looking for a cheap budget mic for streaming maybe, I have a FIFINE Studio Condenser USB Mic, that came with an arm and everything, only spent $80 I think at the time, but it's currently going for $49.99 on Amazon right now. Works great in discord, but you may need to fiddle with audio settings in OBS or whatever streaming program you're using.

Gamers take things way too seriously sometimes when it comes to their opinions on video games/consoles etc on social media as well. It's either Sony fanboys vs Xbox fanboys, or Nintendo fanboys too, but they're not as crazy I'd say. Social media has made it easier to complain about ones favorite video games, and it's gotten to a point that people will get heated about their thoughts. Twitter alone is a cesspool of arguments on just about everything. Facebook is about the same, arguing back and forth. I never bother commenting on social media because it's pointless, you can't win an argument.

Oh for sure. It's not a fun job from what I hear. It's a taxing job that requires you to run through the same things over and over to find issues. I get tired of losing to the same boss over and over, I doubt I could handle testing games for too long. I'd want to rip my hair out haha. And yeah, the way games are dropping like broken messes these days, is because they're not letting the testers do their thing. I think it's why some studios do betas, so that they can get their testing done for free on us. Half of the people who do these betas, probably don't even provide feedback when they should. So, we need testers, and we need studios to take it seriously. More than ever too, because so many games have released broken or unfinished, only to be finished with updates and DLC. Which isn't fair to the consumers who expect a finished product at release.

I've never actually played WoW before. I always put it off because my friends made fun of it, or I always thought it would make me look bad if I played it. Blame it on the dumb crowd I hung out with. Either way, I think I never bothered to play it, because I knew it would be too much for me. Much like other games in the genre, I'm not good with it. Plus I felt like I would need to ask for a lot of help online, and I don't like asking other gamers for help haha. Weird I know.

What is the longest story line game you have ever played?
Kane99 replied to Shortie's topic in Video Games
I played only a small portion of it, but I realized this game was going to be packed to the brim with content. I got overwhelmed by the amount of menus and things you had to do, that I gave up. I may revisit it one of these days, but I really need to be devoted to actually learning it, because I need the patience first. -
What do you think is the worst pay to win video game?
Kane99 replied to Shortie's topic in Video Games
Yeah mobile games do it all the time. I'll say that there are some that balance things fine, but then there are some mobile games that throw so many ads at you, and take forever to play, that it kinda pushes you to pay for things to get ahead. It's why I don't play many mobile games, because if you want to get anything real done, you do need to pay to get anywhere. Unless you want to grind your ass off to get somewhere, and even then that just becomes a chore. -
With Siege, I can see it surviving for many years to come, even after it eventually loses support. The reason why I say this, is because I feel there is a dedicated group of people keeping the game alive. If Siege eventually loses support from the developers, I'm sure the fans will set up their own private servers to keep things alive. A lot of old multiplayer games see new life. Also, if they haven't already, they could open it free to play to bring in more people.

If you could make any movie a video game, what would it be?
Kane99 replied to Shortie's topic in Video Games
You kinda got it mixed. This topic is for movies you'd like to see made into video games. But Metal Gear Solid is a movie I've wanted to see made for a very long time now. But I won't accept a Metal gear movie until Kojima is allowed to be involved. There's actually two Saw games already, came out on the 360 and PS3 I believe. They were not good by any means, the first one at least was okay from what I hear, but the sequel is worse I guess. -
Games Archivist Dumps Over 11GB Data Of Canceled Games And Concept Arts
Kane99 replied to Kane99's topic in Gaming News
I doubt it. From what I hear, is that they only have concept images and such, I don't think they have any graphical builds in the mix. If they did I imagine this whole file would have been a bit bigger than 11gigs. Check it out though, maybe there's some stuff in there that hasn't been posted about yet. -
Source - https://www.pushsquare.com/news/2023/01/bruce-straley-wasnt-credited-in-hbos-the-last-of-us-calls-for-unionization Bruce Straley, who was the co-director of the first Last of Us game, wasn't credited in the new show adaptation for the story. It only mentions Neil Druckmann and Craig Maizin as writers. I hear that Straley is responsible for a lot of the story and ideas in the original game. On top of that, he was with Naughty Dog for 18 years, working on even the Uncharted series in a big capacity as well. Due to this exclusion from the credits, Straley thinks its more obvious we need unionization in gaming, and I agree. Do you think Bruce Straley should be credited in the show going forward? I think he just wants to be recognized for helping create this universe. And it's the least they can do. Even if he's not involved with the show itself. What do you think?

I have watched a couple games on YouTube from start to finish. Sometimes I watch with commentary, but I also watch without it depending on the game. If it's story driven, I don't want commentary. But if it's some dumb game they play to kill time, I don't mind commentary, if anything it's better that way with commentary, well depending on the person making the video. Anyway, I watched The Last of Us Part 2 completed, no commentary. I played the first game myself, but didn't have a PS4 or PS5 to play 2. So I watched a youtuber who puts out playthroughs without commentary.

What game would you like to see in VR that isn't?
Kane99 replied to Shortie's topic in Virtual Reality
It'd be cool. Maybe they can include a referee mode where you can play as a ref. Another mode they could do something fun with, is maybe hell In a cell, cage matches and the elimination chamber modes. -
I think the main selling point for the S is due to it's price. I believe it's going for around $300 right now, and to my knowledge all games on the series x work on the series s, just at a lower framerate/resolution. And with how digital is becoming more prevelant these days, it kinda makes sense to buy it if you're on a budget and still want to experience what Xbox has to offer.

Most games I play solo. Like Madden, Red Dead Redemption 2, and a few others. I do play games like cod sometimes (rarely these days), and when I do it's with friends. Same with games like Fortnite.

Do you feel battle passes are just the norm now in games?
Kane99 replied to Shortie's topic in Gaming Forum
Yeah ads in video games have been increasing as of late, even in paid for games. I don't mind it in free to play games, because it makes sense. But they have no place in these triple A games. -
I'm on TikTok a lot. If you give it timez it will figure out the stuff you like and will share content for you. Same with Instagram and probably YouTube shorts. I see a lot of gaming videos on there, some streaming. But I think they mostly mirror their streams from twitch and YouTube to TikTok instead.

Haha I knew Driver would be the first one the list. I remember that first level not fondly that's for sure. It was a torture. Had to have my brother in law help finish the first tutorial. So glad we got through it. Because Driver is actually a fun game for the time. I kinda want to revisit it and see if I can do the tutorial. Actually I think I might do that. Could probably play through emulation and stream it. 😄

Give it a try. I think there are many versions of RPG Maker out there. I never really used it myself but heard many people who have and they have fun with it. I hear it's not perfect, but to start out, I hear it can teach a lot. And there are prob graphic engines you can download and mess around with as well.
