I'd say a lot of the early 3D games that came out. This includes PS1, N64, Saturn and maybe Dreamcast games as well. 3D graphics back then are tough to look back on now. I tried to play a few N64 games a while back and it was a burden on my eyes lol. Just everything often looked so grainy and rough. idk if House Flipper or Power Was Sim really need impressive graphics. When it comes to House Flipper, I feel like the inside of houses look fairly decent. It's the outside of houses that are lacking imo. But I think we're meant to focus more on the insides of houses than outside. But yeah, they aren't glamorous graphics, but passable with me.

Do you have the habit of moving your arms/body with the game?
Kane99 replied to Kane99's topic in Gaming Forum
I think it mainly happens for me when it's a chaotic moment. Or if it involves something on a track. I think the train track levels in Donkey Kong Country caused me to move with it sometimes. I think I even lifted my legs a couple time with the movement of the cart lol. -
Have you ever been on a date quest in a game?
Kane99 replied to Reality vs Adventure's topic in Gaming Forum
The only games I can think of where you date is the Sims games. I'm sure there are other games out there, that involves dating of some sort, but I don't usually play those games. There might be adult games out there that offer this though too. I know the past GTA games had dating options, but I don't think the newer one did from what I recall. -
A lot of video games can be used to teach us. And I have learned a lot because of video games, not the video game itself, but maybe dialog in the game teaching me things, or learning about some history. Like with Assassin's Creed, the whole series works on history, albeit they do change a lot, but there are aspects of our histories in all of these games. Even though a lot of it is made up for story purposes, it seems that there is a lot to learn from games.

Looks like Starship Troopers is getting a new game from the team at Offworld Industries, and this time it may turn out to be good. I think there's only one Starship Troopers game, that came out back in 2005, and fans weren't really all that into it. This game is being made by the studio behind a game called Squad, which is like a tactical first person shooter. So fans seem to be excited about this, as they can see them making a quality game. I can't say as I never played Squad, but the reviews paint it as a really good game from what I can see on steam. Anyway, this should be great news to fans and anyone else who is into the Starship Troopers world. And or first person shooters. Read more about this here: https://www.polygon.com/23481844/starship-troopers-fps-extermination-release-date-offworld-industries And there's a trailer:

Phone recommendations for playing GTA San Andreas Mobile version?
Kane99 replied to joblessdude's topic in Mobile
Yeah you definitely don't have to pay that much to play San Andreas. San Andreas to my knowledge, should play on most mobile phones. But, that depends on what version it is. If it's the version we've had for the past 10+ years, then yeah it should work on pretty much all phones. But if it's the remastered version, it might not work so good on an older smartphone. But, I don't recall if they made a remastered version of it available for mobile anyway, so it should be fine. Now, if you want to play higher intense stuff like a FPS in Fortnite, COD, etc. you may want to upgrade somewhat. But even my cheap phone allows me to play most games. -
I think I only played it once growing up. I remember playing Wolfenstein before playing the likes of Doom and others too, but I think I only played Quake a brief time at a friends house. I didn't have a good enough PC to play it, and I think it came out before I was into computer gaming anyway. I hear it's a classic of a game though.

Thanks for sharing. I'll put this on my watch later on YouTube. I'd watch it now, but I can't pay attention to something else. I thought the first video game was made back in the early 70s, but in reality the first video game was closer back to the 1940s, at least according to this article below: https://www.museumofplay.org/blog/what-was-the-first-video-game/ The article talks about world fairs where some a game was showed off, one being in the 1940s and another in the 1950s. The same article goes on how to discuss how things were started even further back in the late 1800s, when they mention computers, and a game TIT-TAT-TO. It's not close to what we have today, but it's pretty interesting to see how far we've come.

Yeah it is odd for a game like RDR2 to do this. I can maybe understand the profanity filter in the multiplayer modes, at least there it makes more sense, but in the single player mode, why should it matter? Let us choose our names freely, as long as they aren't racial or overly offensive. But even so, it's single player and you shouldn't be blocked by a filter. Especially when the game has racism, hate, sexism, hateful words and so on. It doesn't make much sense.

Yeah I'm glad I'm not a gambler. I will buy a couple scratch offs on rare occasions, and maybe toss a few bucks towards an easy pick or mega millions, but I have yet to actually go to a casino, or gamble in other ways. I'm very frugal with my money. It mostly goes towards food & supplies we need. You're not to blame though, a gambling addict will find ways of gambling no matter what anyway. My guess is they would have found those apps eventually. And it's not like we have to share any that have to do with gambling. There are apps out there that offer you credits to use on free stuff, albeit, not very good stuff, but it's not gambling in that case. But the payout for most apps, aren't very good and imo, are just a waste of time anyway.

Dead Island 2 Delayed yet again, releases April 28th 2023
Kane99 replied to Kane99's topic in Gaming News
Well it's still a few months away with the delay, so technically there's still a little ways to go. But we're closer than we've been. I hope so too. Because as of late, a lot of triple A games have been releasing broken or not up to the standards fans expect. With Dead Island 2, a lot of people expect something great to come from it, so it has to be a banger otherwise I don't think people will care. Especially with other zombie games out there like the Dying Light series. -
Is there an “ideal” number of hours for an open world game?
Kane99 replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Gaming Forum
I wish for most open world games to be never ending. I feel like a lot of open world games would benefit from having constant missions/quests. Kinda like the amount you see in Skyrim for example. If you can give me that much time in an open world, I'll be happy. -
Feds might investigate Microsoft takeover of Activision
Kane99 replied to Kane99's topic in Gaming News
It's a lot of money and many are worried that Microsoft are creating a monopoly. Which was something many other companies were worried about with Microsoft in the past. So it's kinda MS repeating that. I think this sale will go through, so long as MS doesn't make the games in this deal exclusive to xbox, because if so, Sony will probably keep fighting this. -
I didn't like the redesign for the newer Devil May Cry game that came out years ago, the main character. I forget his name, I haven't played the series much and wasn't a fan growing up. Oh, Dante, but I remember Dante looked way cooler in the original games, but the new game they made him look like some boy band reject or something. But I think fans really enjoyed that reskin, so idk. But I also saw they brought the original Dante back in the DMC 5 right?

I tried the Xbox Cloud gaming, and didn't mess with it for too long. I figured it was going to use up my internet too much, and I didn't want my ISP to throw a fit at me lol. But I have the Xbox app on my phone and want to take advantage of it soon. But I need to get a decent controller peripheral for my phone, or try to get it to work with bluetooth somehow. More services are joining the cloud gaming future.

Wow that's a tough one to answer honestly. To be fair, you can play Minecraft without having to face any bosses. I just build and don't worry about any of the bosses. I'm sure there is something else we're forgetting, but nothing is coming up in my head. You can skip bosses in Deus Ex: Human Revolution I believe, or you can go all the way through using stealth, at least that's what I recall hearing. Other than that, no other came is coming to mind, that also has no bosses.

For example, you're playing a game, and you encounter a moment where you have to fly through space debris or something, and have to maneuver through it. All the while you're playing, you're catching yourself move with the action. I still do this for some games. Do you? As in move your hands/body in the direction you're moving in the game. It's a subtle thing, but I think a lot of people do it. It's a natural thing too if anything. I usually do it a lot in racing games, games where I'm flying something, and other games where there's a lot of movement.

Also, another idea I think could work, is for AI to learn your attacks and counter accordingly. I think that would make gameplay unique each time you play, because you may have to change up your tactics if things aren't working anymore. Of course I imagine that'd be tough to develop into a game, as the AI would need to be smart enough to figure out your moves. And we as humans, don't always follow the same pattern. But, I think something like that can be worked out where it's tougher as you go along because the AI are learning your moves and tactics. Do some games do that now? I know back in the day in COD games, if you stayed in one location for too long, the enemies will smoke you out by tossing a grenade at you. So kinda like that, but at a higher level, where the AI continues to learn as you play.

Not one either, but if I had the time and money to devote to it, I think I'd try my hand at starting an esports team and getting into that. I don't think I could do it alone, so going in with a group would be the ideal route for me. To be able to game with friends and possibly win money in the process, would be pretty dope.

What are the most guilt-inducing moments in games?
Kane99 replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Gaming Forum
I think near the end of RDR2 when you decide to go for the money and not help John. I feel like that isn't Arthur and he wouldn't do that, so there's clear guilt when this happens. I much prefer the Arthur who saves the day and we know how that goes if we played the game. Other than that, maybe some of the characters I killed in the RDR2. Like in the beginning you have a choice of saving a guy from a cliff, you can let him fall, or save him. I let him fall, and felt guilt because of that. And I had more guilt later on, after I hear that saving this person will end up helping you in the game at some point. I know helping some others you'll get free items from them later, so I wonder if that was the case. As for other games, I can't think of anything else. -
Think they'll try to make another Game of Thrones game?
Kane99 replied to Kane99's topic in Video Games
I don't think popularity is an issue for the Game of Thrones franchise. It's one of the biggest franchises out there today, and continues to gain popularity due to its current show. HBO knows they have money with GOT and could easily make more media around it if they wanted to. They already license the characters to other companies like Funko for the Funko pop figures, and other companies I'm sure. I wouldn't doubt they are greenlighting ideas for future GOT games as we speak. -
Picking up any games during Black Friday/Cyber Monday 2022?
Kane99 replied to Kane99's topic in Gaming Forum
I was unable to get any deals myself, but I hear my nephew was a lucky one and he's getting a VR headset for Christmas. An Oculus. I'm guessing the quest, but I'm not sure. Either way, I'm going to get to finally try VR in some compacity this Christmas lol. I should have taken advantage of some of the digital game deals on Xbox and PC, but eh, I don't feel like spending any money as of late. -
Right, it's so good. As for your song, not a huge fan of Megaman myself, but this is a great jam. I'm going to see if this is available on spotify. I'd say an 8/10 for me. I have to go with the theme of Snake Eater for my next pick. I really get that 007 vibe from it. It also fits with the timeframe of the game too.

I have had The Witcher 3 for like 5 years now, and I only played a small portion of it. I couldn't get used to the amount of menus and options I had. Was overwhelming so I never stuck with it. I may jump back into it one of these days, but I have to really invest into it if I want to take it seriously I think.

This is cool, A fan project titled Half-Life: Levitation was given the greenlight by Valve themselves to release on Steam today. It is a free unofficial add-on for Half-Life: Alyx, which has four hour campaign, with voice acting, and more. It also includes characters like Alyx Vance and G-Man. You can find more details on the game at the link below: https://www.pcgamesn.com/half-life-alyx/sequel-steam-levitation and via the Steam Workshop below: https://steamcommunity.com/workshop/filedetails/?id=2881604879
