Yeah, for me it's about completing the mission first before I quit for the night or day. There has been times where I had to quit mid game because of life reasons, but sometimes I just pause, do what I gotta do, and then come back to the mission, finish it, and if I need to be done for now, I will quit and return another day. Taking a break between playthroughs isn't a problem for me though. I've been playing RDR2 again, and surprisingly I'm sticking with it. I have paused, quit mid game, and so on, and I'm still back for more. I think this time around I'm just invested in it. I'm playing a story in my head, where Arthur is hurting. This was after he is captured near Chapter 3, by the bad guys (forgetting their names, they're the main bad guys against Dutch's gang). I had a style set for him, in that he's rocking this awesome mustache, but after that I let his beard grow out. When I get to the point where they're stranded on the island, I will then go back to cutting his beard to the stache lol. Sorry for going off on a tangent there. That's not want the topic is about, so I'll stop pulling it off topic.

Oooh I like that idea. I believe some games do exactly that, they figure out your playstyle and what mistakes you make and will sometimes use them against you. I know it's not necessarily the same, but look at Left 4 Dead for example. I think they had some of the best AI, because when things are slow, they sometimes ramp it up. The AI is also random, so each time you play, it's not always the same way. Hordes come out at different times, tanks will spawn in whenever the hell they want to, or when you're going too slow. I wish more games utilized the Left 4 Dead AI, because I think it could create some unique experiences.

The difference is that it's a more serious sim and is meant to be a bit more realistic. Powerwash sim is a lot more chill, in that there aren't any things weighing you down or slowing you down essentially. You just powerwash things. You can buy new nozzles and extensions, and that's really about it. But as you get near the end, the stuff you powerwash gets crazier. One of them is a statue in the desert, a temple, a UFO even, and so on. With most other sim games, they tend to be more realistic in nature, so they require you to do it a certain way.

Upcoming game you are looking forward to playing?
Kane99 replied to Nebulous's topic in Gaming Forum
All we know about the next Mafia game is that it's happening and may be a prequel to the first game. I loved the original Mafia game on PS2, even though it was a big downgrade from the PC version at the time, I have nostalgia for it because my brother and I played the hell out of it. Then came Mafia 2 and it wasn't as good in terms of story, but the game looked great and the story wasn't bad. I just felt like it was a mediocre game. I didn't even play Mafia 3, but my brother did and he was mixed on it. I think a Mafia 4 needs to be something great, because the team behind it imo, has been kinda lacking. I heard the new one will take place in Sicily as well, which is pretty cool if true. I found this info here - https://tech4gamers.com/mafia-4/ Not sure how true it is, could be a lie for all we know. But either way, Mafia 4 isn't coming out anytime soon. When it does though, I hope it turns out to be good. Which also reminds me, I need to get the Mafia 1 remake and the remasters of 2 and 3. I heard the remaster of 2 was rough though. -
With Lawnmower sim I just got annoyed with it. I didn't find it fun or relaxing like powerwash sim was. Because with powerwash sim, it didn't require much from you. You could buy cleaning supplies and all that, but I never felt like I was running out. And I thought I'd have to finish cleaning before I ran out, but you literally never run out. But with Lawnmower sim, you need to make sure you cut at the right length, don't cut flowers, and other things. you also have to be careful when moving, as you could damage the grass and be penalized. It wasn't chill enough for me essentially. With Powerwash sim, it didn't feel like a sim game, at least not like the other games.

What are your favourite gaming memories from the past?
Kane99 replied to Kane99's topic in Gaming Forum
Haha yes, staying up super late as a kid and playing your favorite games. Or having a friend over as well. Whenever I had a friend sleep over, I'd always try to get them to do an all-nighter with me, and game all night. They usually never go through with it, as they always end up falling asleep. And I agree. Once you become an adult and have responsibilities, those days are usually gone. I still game at night, but I haven't gamed during the day in a long time. Most of my friends now only game during the day, and I just have no energy for gaming during the day as I have other things to do. Yay! Being an adult!!! 😄 -
Is it easier for you to be responsible in games than IRL?
Kane99 replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Gaming Forum
Same here. I try to keep a tight ship in my real life, and sometimes I do so in video games. Like with RDR2 right now, I'm playing it slow, trying to 100% everything before I play through the rest of the story. I know how it all ends, so I'm taking it as slow as I can haha. And same, I have to beat a mission before I quit. But, there are times where I have to jump off earlier because of life. My PC was tiring itself out playing RDR2 recently, so I had to quit mid mission. I was also watching a movie with friends on Discord as well, and the Discord froze up, so I figured my game was next. So I restarted and that was that. But yeah, I don't usually quit mid game. But if I have to, I will. -
And if they can't make an environment that's chill for gamers, maybe allow us to set up our own private lobbies, servers, games, etc. Allow us to have a mode where people can't attack you. I know you can turn on a passive mode in GTA V for example, which allows you to play the game without anyone bothering you. You also can't shoot other players, which is perfect. I hope MMOs have a passive mode where you can be free from any conflict with other online players. I think that would solve a lot when it comes to griefing and people attempting to kill you every five minutes.

I Hate To Admit It, But Digital Distribution Is Growing On Me....
Kane99 replied to Shagger's topic in Gaming Forum
Eww, Uplay. I don't get the point in Uplay whatsoever. It's just Ubisofts way of I guess keeping track of their users. And didn't they really dig deep into DRM for their games? Even their digital games if I remember correctly. Digital is our inevitable future. We're already kinda seeing it with Music and movies. I haven't purchased a new movie physically in a long time. I was going to pick up Joker, but felt I really didn't need to. Because I could watch it on a streaming service or in other ways. I like the idea of adding a game/movie/cd, etc to my collection, but I feel like I'm becoming less and less of a physical collector. One thing is I don't have the space anymore for games, or collecting other forms of media. I will still buy a physical game if it's retro, or older generations, but newer consoles I never see the point. And one other thing, how Nintendo sometimes release a case with the code for a game. I get why they do that, for collectors, but once you use that code, you just have an empty case sitting on your shelf. What's the point then? If it's not coming out on an actual cart or disc, why even release it? -
Found this article about the best video game trailers. There are some goodies on here, did any of your favorites make the cut? Read here - https://www.gamersdecide.com/pc-game-news/101-best-video-game-trailers-ever-made One on the list that I forgot was For Honor. That trailer sold me on it and got me to jump into the private/open beta they were doing. I wish this game stayed relevant, because I remember it being so fun to play. But sadly it never really got far and I think they ended up changing it to a free to play game. Yeah it looked good. Not too into the racing genre, but maybe one day I'll give it a try.

There currently is no known price tag for the Dead Space Remake, and it doesn't look like you can pre-order it at the moment. It's very unlikely it will go for $29.99, considering it's a remake and not a remaster. A remaster is just a fancy upgrade with better visuals and performance, but a remake is usually something from the ground up. And from what I heard, the remake is built from the ground up with improvements and other things. I can see this going for full price, possible $60, but most likely the new price tag of $70 that games seem to be going for these days. It's also been delayed until 2023 according to this article - https://www.windowscentral.com/report-dead-space-remake-launch-early-2023

What game broke you of completing all side quests?
Kane99 replied to harleyqbx's topic in Gaming Forum
The controls were some of the hardest to get used to. And I don't understand why, especially since we had the Dualshock controller for the PS2, so I don't get why they made it so impossible to get the mission done. I hope GTA never does RC missions again, then again, I think they've figured out how to properly develop a game that controls well, but who knows. Maybe they will make us play another tough RC mission in the next GTA. Goodness, I hope not. -
I can see that. Rockstar has so many voice actors on their payroll it's gotta be crazy. There's tons of different voice actors for GTA V, RDR2, and most of their other open world games. The fact that each NPC has a voice is pretty cool. I know there are probably multiple voice actors doing multiple voices. Makes me wonder if any of the main voice actors started off speaking as NPCs in the Rockstar games. Kinda tempted to look into Arthur's voice actor to see what else he's done.

F.E.A.R. was great in that regards, because I remember the enemies being pretty tough at times. As well, unpredictable, because I remember there were times where I felt like I cleared an area out, and then there's be one or two left coming after me. I never played the first MGS all the way through, but I heard many stories about the Psycho Mantis boss battle at the end. Changing the controller to port two allows you to fight him. Always thought that was a cool trick.

True, it would be a nightmare to hire many characters. I just wish they added a few more voice options in games that allow you to. Like in Cyberpunk 2077, I think there was 3 male and 3 female voices, but I'm not 100% sure. It's not a big deal, but would be nice to have something different. And true, text based dialogue is fine too, as it does let you imagine your voice. That makes more sense. Saints row is one of them. They had a lot of voice options, but nothing that fit me much. But I didn't mind too much because the voice acting was kinda funny from what I remember.

10/10 ratings are very hard to come by. And honestly I don't like when games get 10/10 ratings, because I know even 10/10 games have problems of their own. To be a masterpiece, it needs to be near perfect imo, with likely no problems. And I think that's tough to do with video games, hell with anything, because there will always be people rating it differently.

I used to wake up early when I was a kid to play most games, that was usually during my weekends or during the summer. I like to sleep in most days though, so I ain't waking up anytime earlier to game than I usually do. Maybe that's just the best time for him. I like gaming at night because I'm free from distractions, and can relax while gaming. No one tells me to go to bed, or tells me I need to take a break. It's the best. And, it's as if you're like the only person up at that time. It's quite comforting in some ways.
-
Wouldn't it be nice if more games offered better voice options for their custom characters? Whenever I play a game that has voice options, they always seem lacking to me. I want funny voices, serious ones, multiple race types and so on. I think that adds to the game for those wanting to replicate themselves in the game. No voices I use match my own voice and I think it'd be fun to have a game where it comes close to how I sound in real life. I know this likely won't happen, as I doubt studios want to hire tons of voice actors just to make everyone feel included. But it'd be nice to have more than a couple options too.
-
Same here. I don't think I ever intend to play this game for long. I mainly want to see how it is and see if any friends want to play it for a bit, maybe for a weekend or so. But after that I will probably end up going right back to Fortnite or RDR2 haha. It's just I'm not huge with fighting games, and I see no point in playing most of them. But I too like the character selection, so I am curious to at least give it a test run one of these days.

How much training do esports players do?
Kane99 replied to Kane99's topic in Esports & Competitive Gaming
Yeah I can see the prize pools differing everywhere. And in regards to UFC fighters, yeah I noticed they don't get paid that good until they're star attractions. It's funny too, because there are other MMA leagues that seem to pay the smaller guys more fairly. I think Bellator is one that pays all of their fighters good. But I could be wrong. Essentially, the better you are, the more cash you're going to get. Simple as that. With esports, the best teams and leagues are where the money is, but for smaller teams and less popular teams, they have smaller leagues they can take advantage of. But, that also means less money. But, growing in these leagues, means you will eventually get better pay as you advance. -
I Hate To Admit It, But Digital Distribution Is Growing On Me....
Kane99 replied to Shagger's topic in Gaming Forum
Which is why I'm for game preservation, because even cart based media will degrade over time, though it will take a lot longer than disc based games, it will eventually happen. I like what the wayback machine has done with their DOS games list, as they're trying to save as many games as they can. Which is why I think a lot of other media like it is starting to get digitized. Like old VHS tapes that have old commercials. I like when people preserve that history for us to watch later. And with gaming I think that's the only route to take, at least when it comes to retro and disc based games. Because I'd hate to see some classics get lost to time because no one decided to preserve them. I think Nintendo and all the big brands have their games protected and saved, but there are a lot of games that are probably never going to be released digitally and in turn could be lost to time. And that scares me. -
I've never played any of the Persona games. Isn't it based on an anime or manga or something? One of my friends is really into the series, but I don't think it's something I would be into. But to each their own. 🙂 That's how I usually buy most games these days. I'm too lazy to wait for the physical releases to get delivered, so I tend to go the digital route most of the time. Just easier for me. But sucks not having the physical versions, as I do like collecting the physical game as well. But these days I can't be bothered lol.

I think I would. I already work from home, so all I would need is a VR headset to be able to work in that way. I don't know if I could do a full days work in VR though. Since I never had time with a VR headset before, I don't know how long I can handle wearing one. It's not like you have to be in a virtual space to work though, as I work in a Discord server, so we just join a voice chat for meetings and such. VR would be cool, but I don't think it's something really needed. Especially with webcams being around.

VR for learning real-world trades and skills
Kane99 replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Virtual Reality
VR could easily be used to help teach people how to do certain things. It is still recommended to do it in person, as I imagine repairing a car wouldn't work so well. Yeah you could learn parts, how to install things and so on, but in order to truly learn, you will have to get down and dirty with a real vehicle eventually. But, there are practical things VR can be used for and teaching is definitely one aspect. Especially if it's a VR game that lets you train in game. There are VR games where you can take apart and put together computers, cars, and more. So it's not far from reality. -
What personality traits make it easier to immerse oneself in gaming?
Kane99 replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Gaming Forum
Not quite sure to be honest. I don't know what kind of personality traits go for gaming in general. I can see most personalities enjoying a video game, albeit, some not so much. But I think there are many personality types who find fun in games. I'm not sure what "Absorption" has to do with personality traits though. Absorption just means absorbing something, so idk how that works as a personality. Maybe someone who just wants to try everything, absorb all experiences, but that's all I can see by that meaning. I mean, you can be very immersed in a game, almost absorbed by it. Is that what you meant?
