  1. I don't think videogames have evolved since the early 90s. They still have the same basic principles. Apart from mmo-s there hasn't been any new type of game. And arguably mmos are not a new type of game either, they are dumb rpgs but you share the game with random other players, which is a negative to me. But I reject the premise that the world is changing fast. If you look at what we predicted 2020 will be just 30-40 years ago, we are nowhere near that point. In fact I think life in general has evolved very little since I'm alive. Even though I started out behind the iron curtain. As much as things changed they also stayed the same. People also say the world has changed when 911 happened, but I don't think it did. Or now due to the pandemic? Not much has changed for me.
  2. I backed four games, only two of those actually delivered the game they promised. The other two never came to fruition due to gross mismanagement and corruption. The last one I backed was in 2013. Positive experiences: Giana Sisters Twisted Dreams, Shadowrun Returns Negative experiences: The Mandate, Squadron 42
  3. When I was young I dreamt of creating a game called life, in which you could choose a career and do anything. This was long before the sims or second life. Later I thought I wanted to be a game developer so I started experimenting with game development, tried a few freely available engines, and even wrote my own driving game. Of course it was never completed, but it did work, you could actually drive in it.
  4. all of them. I think for me to be comfortable with a controller it should only have 4 or 5 buttons tops. I'd remove the circle and square and only have X and triangle. And only have a single R and L buttons. Nothing else. Then I might not end up mixing them all the time.
  5. A few minutes tops. Controls of games should be instantly intuitive and feel like second nature. Days? If I'm struggling with a game after an hour then it goes into the trash pile.
  6. I only tried to create a character that was like me once, and it was weird, I play myself all the time, I'd rather enjoy someone else in games. I can't even say that I do in games what I'd do in that situation, because that's a lie. If I was getting shot at I'd run away in the oppoosite direction, and not go towards the gunfire as almost all in game heroes. I play an idealized role model whom I find worth admiring or aspiring to, but definitely not myself.
  7. I never specifically purchased any game related item seperately, only things that came with games as bonuses. Like I have a custom mug for the last of us with my online nickname on it. But unfortunately some of the art has worn off of it, because I've been drinking coffe from it since 2013. I also have a Fallout lunchbox, and vault boy bobblehead. A sam fisher wrist watch from splinter cell. A Dodge Challenger statue from Driver San Francisco That's about it for game related collectibles. Oh, and I also have a Star Citizen Citizen's Card, and I'm really not proud of this one, it is a memento for getting conned.
  8. Test Drive Unlimited and O'ahu. I know it's not a city, it is one better, it's an entire island. This is the only game I know of that ever attempted an 1:1 replication of a real world location. Everything else does highly condensed versions afaik.
  9. I disagree, being amazing at games is not boring. What's fun in games is the process of winning, the actions you take to achieve a desired outcome. Succeeding on the first try doesn't make it any less thrilling and fun. It can even be more rewarding. Being terrible at a game leads to nothing but frustration, if I experience nothing but failure with a game it is likely that I'll quit playing entirely. Some failures don't hurt, but getting beaten by the game constantly is not a good experience.
  10. The answer is obvious to that: PC It can also emulate most other systems up to the ps3 era.
  11. As mentioned before my favorite book universe is the Malazan Book of the Fallen. So I'd also prefer to see that in game. It's a vast and diverse world with rich history and dozens of races, beasts and myths. And magic that is not just some supernatural mumbo jumbo but has actual rules and is an integral part of the world. This series of books represented true equality without effort since its first publication. I'd make it compulsory reading to anyone posing as a progressive so they can learn what is an actual post racist / sexist society.
  12. The more realistic the more beautiful. I hate everything that is deliberately made less realistic. Like cell shaded games. No matter how artistic it is, I'd rather have a plain, mundane but realistic environment.
  13. Chaotic good I only respect laws as long as I agree with them morally. And if someone does me wrong, or someone else I feel protective of, then all bets are off.
  14. You might not be kidding, but also it's not true, just clickbait. They aren't banning gaming PCs, they are banning inefficient pre-built PCs witch cheap crappy power supplies. And this is not a law specifically targeting gaming PCs. They dispel most of the false reporting in this video:
  15. About 9 of these I never had an issue with. The only one that is a real problem is microtransactions that affect in-game progerssion.
  16. Well if you put it that way that might actually make it worse, completely forgetting existing fans or trying to milk them for more money. I don't know which is lower.
  17. I don't know why time should be a factor in this. They did not acknowledge long time supporters in any way. I didn't expect much just a nod, a 20% off the price or something to those who already own all three games, but nothing. As it is us, the original fans who made mass effect the success that allowed them to create the legendary edition, and then they'd have us pay the same again as complete newcomers. That really put me off from buying it.
  18. If you are a newcomer the price is very reasonable. But as someone who owns all three games with all the DLCs except for the cosmetic stuff, I feel insulted that they expect me to pay full price for the legendary edition. I want to play it, but not until the price becomes sg I find acceptable. I found the first citadel visit tedious and boring on my first try, didn't even get through it. I needed a lot of convincing to give the a game a second chance, but I'm glad I did. The game really comes into its element when the galaxy map opens up to you.
  19. I don't understand why they'd need to be considered specially? When I get old, I'll want to play the same games as I play now, no special treatment needed. Easy difficulty should me more than enough to counter the duller reflexes. On the contrary if they would advertise a game as "made specifically for people like me" I'd say frack off with it. I don't want to be lumped in with all other people who I share a superficial characteristic with. I find the idea that they'd need to make specific games for specific groups of people reprehensible. As if all people in the group should have the exact same wants and needs. Same goes for people with psychological problems, they are a diverse group, you can't make a game and just say it is made for (all of) them, because it presumes they have no individual taste.
  20. It was argued that without the big daddies they'd just die anyway, so by "saving them" you are actually condemning them to a much slower crueller death.
  21. What is your single favorite side quest, from any game? Mine would have to be "The Harvester" from Deus Ex Mankind Divided
  22. If you are referring to the Little Sisters then there is no right thing to do. I think that's why they say it is a moral dilemma.
