What two video game characters would you invite over for dinner?
m76 replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Gaming Forum
For a double date, Madison Paige (Heavy Rain) and Abigail Anderson (TLOU2). Most interesting: Sylens (Horizon Zero Dawn), Mordin Solus (Mass Effect 2) Party: JC Denton, Garrus Vakarian Meh, it's hard to narrow it down to just two, there are so many others. If I could really throw a big party I'd invite dozens of characters. -
Why the hell is Naughty Dog remaking The Last of Us?
m76 replied to Knight Plug's topic in Video Games
The controls and animations in the second game are infinitely better. They don't need to change anything about the story, why do you even bring that up? Finishing the first game was an utterly frustrating experience for me, I was close to giving up multiple times, while the second was a good game, it didn't need the story to make it worth playing. Au contraire. Just because you are indifferent to the technology leaps doesn't mean they are not there. That's your opinion, just because you are not interested in a remake doesn't mean nobody can. Naughty dog is a huge company, I'm sure they can manage to work on multiple projects in parallel. Especially since you need different talents for a remake and a whole new game developed from the grounds up. -
I might have said this before, but I hate whatculture. I think they are uncultured morons with no moral compass and this video just further proves that. Like the dishonored thing, just becuase there are no real repercussions in the game they think doing a morally bad thing is a must! Shame.

Why the hell is Naughty Dog remaking The Last of Us?
m76 replied to Knight Plug's topic in Video Games
LOL, The Last of Us is very far from perfect, playing the second game after trying out the remake on PS4 has revealed to me just how far off the old game is. If they can turn the first game into something that plays like the second, I'm all in. Especially if this next gen remake would also be made available on PC. -
With current availabiliyt even a 1660 is considered hiend. Because that's the highest end you might be able to purchase at triple the normal price.

The most annoying thing about your favorite game

QHD is not 4K. It's 2560x1440. So you can reasonably expect most games to run well at that resolution with a 3060. Otherwise I agree, that a fullHD screen is sufficient for a 17".

Why the hell is Naughty Dog remaking The Last of Us?
m76 replied to Knight Plug's topic in Video Games
I'm all for remaking it if it means it gets up t o the level of TLOU2. I've tried playing the remaster on PS4, and it was awful, TLOU2 has so much better controls and gameplay. -
Are art and entertainment mutually contradictory?
m76 replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Gaming Forum
Entertainment is art. Even for talk shows there is such a thing as the art of speech or debate. Or martial arts, is not called art by accident. So I think everything that is not serving an utilitarian purpose is some type of art. But as soon as you try to give it a specific purpose beyond entetaining, it stops being art, it becomes propaganda. -
If I remember correctly episodes from liberty city was one of the last traditional expansions. I don't think it released as a DLC, but as a separate retail add-on originally. As for DLCs that were worth it: XCOM2: War of the Chosen, basically all story DLCs for Mass Effect.

You still steal more cars in gta than in any other game. So I think the name fits very well. When I think about weird names, I think about series like Star Wars Dark Forces, Star Wars Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight, which would make the third game called Star Wars Dark Forces III: Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast LOL

What two video game characters would you invite over for dinner?
m76 replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Gaming Forum
It's really hard to decide. There are many factors. Do I go by who is the most interesting, or who would be cool to party with? Or who would I get along best with? Or perhaps who I would like to romance? 😏 I really don't know. Can they be non-human? It'd be awkward to invite a robot for dinner. -
Do you like having control over what your followers wear?
m76 replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Gaming Forum
I feel similarly, I like giving them cool outfits but also treat them with respect. You see so many people give completely inappropriate outfits to their in game characters. I just can't do that, well maybe temporarily for kicks, but not for the whole duration of the game. So I try to find a balance between eye candy and preserving their dignity -
What video game skill do you wish you could aquire?
m76 replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Gaming Forum
I suck at memorizing and remembering combos and control schemes. If there are more than 3 buttons to be used in combat I freeze completely and confuse which button to press to achieve the desired effect. So in games like these I usually end up randomly smashing everything hoping for the best. And surprisingly this works in quite a few games, but unfortunately not all. -
How do you decide what quest to do next in an open world game?
m76 replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Gaming Forum
I usually choose the mission that is closest to my actual location, so I don't have to do too much empty traveling. -
I always leave it on. To me realism is the most important thing in games. If I can just shoot through friendlies that's not very realistic.

First time playing Legend of Kyrandia on PC, coming from the C64 the color palette seemed amazing, and the hand painted backgrounds were so beautiful. I never actually finished the game because I did not understand the text, but the graphics was enough to be in awe. Playing Need For Speed for the first time. It was the first racing game that had convincing enough graphics to actually feel real instead of just a "dumb" game. Not playing a game, but the actual anticipation of the release of Red Alert with some of my friends. We were enthralled by the C&C franchise. When I found the secret MJ12 base under hell's kitchen in DeusEx, and it was just the tip of the iceberg. Playing Star Trek Voyager Elite force truly was magical, the whole game felt like you were starring in your own personal episode of the TV show. Max Payne 2, it was the first time a videogame made me actually care about fictional characters The highpoint of the GTA franchise to me was Vice City, just having fun and listening to flash fm or wave. Mass Effect after you leave the citadel and get command of the Normandy and realize you can go to any planet you want. It was the first time I felt true freedom in a game Getting lost in the world of Oblivion, it felt so huge and so many interesting places to explore. When I realized there is a huge underground city in Skyrim Beyond Two Souls is still the most intimate experience I had with a videogame, where I felt responsible for the main character. It's a real emotional roller coaster. Playing Train Simulator during the holiday season in 2013, I don't know why but it felt magical, I particularly remember one scenario taking the baldwin centipede through the horseshoe curve supposedly on christmas eve.

In this day and age I think they should make sure that after official support ends the console can still be used without it. So if they intend to shut down servers, release a patch that makes the consoles fully functional without it.

What game is it driving you crazy you can’t play right now?
m76 replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Gaming Forum
GT Sport is technically not gran turismo, it's just an empty shell made for esports and nothing else. -

Gran Turismo I've already got rid of my PS3, and the PS4 has no Gran Turismo. Even if GT7 eventually releases I'm reluctant to spend the money needed to get into it. I'd need a PS5, and a new racing wheel. As damned sony&logitech decided planned obsolescence is a great thing so I cannot use my existing wheel for the PS4 or 5. -
Thanks for reminding me, I used to love this title song, but completely forgot it existed. It kind of reminds of a tv show theme.

Games that you couldn't understand but were still fun to you
m76 replied to Patrik's topic in Video Games
As a child I couldn't understand most adventure games, I didn't know the language to begin with, yet I've still played them a lot. -
99.99% between 22.00 and 1:00 About 90% between 23:00 and 0:30 But I very rarely play games that late. Usually stop gaming before 22:00, unless there is some super exciting new game that I can't put down, but that only happens once or twice a year.

Like you I was never able to play shooting games with a controller. I still can't. It is pure frustration for me. Someone suggested it's because I grew up playing with a mouse, but that's not true. We used to play shooters with the keyboard. Mouse look didn't become a regular thing until glquake in 1997. I couldn't have convinced my parents to get a console no matter how hard I wanted anyway, because it was too expensive, and there was no education or school reason to get one unlike for a PC. I've had a PS2, PS3, and PS4, that I bought from my own money as an adult, but strictly to play a few exclusives, most notably the Gran Turismo series. For the PS2 I never even owned any other game than GT3 and GT4. For the PS3 / 4 I had a handful of other games. And I'm still bitter about no Gran Turismo on the PS4, so I might not even get a PS5 due to that betrayal.
