What is the best Cyberpunk-style game ever made?
Reality vs Adventure replied to Ok_Attempt's topic in Gaming Forum
I love Watch Dogs Legion. I haven't played many games in this category but would like to know what is all out there. -
Russia Invaded Ukraine

WTF is the U.S. then, a damn pussy cat? All you keep doing is praise Russia for selfish political reasons. Instead of facing a crisis from a mad man, you blame others. Real fucking mature. -
Is post-patch cyberpunk worth it on PS5?
Reality vs Adventure replied to NightmareFarm's topic in Gaming Forum
Actually, since that last patch it’s playable on ps4 now cause I’ve been playing it with no bug issues. Still too soon to tell if that lasts. The picture quality is top notch. Haven’t had any lag issues. But if you have ps5 then by all means it’s worth a try. Would suck to get a ps4 version and half way through it gets corrupted. -
I put this topic in the gaming section so that we can reference games relating to this kind of lore. I'm personally having great interest in the cyberpunk genre since I've been playing Cyberpunk 2077 and Watch Dogs Legion. Saints Row 2 also has similar qualities. Maybe even Deus Ex. What are some other games that are dystopian that you can think of? How did this lore first start? Was there anything significant going on in the world at the time? It seems the common denominator is a broken society controlled by the elite, or corporations and military controlling every aspect of your life. Dystopian definition: An imaginary place or condition in which everything is as bad as possible A very bad or unfair society in which there is a lot of suffering, especially an imaginary society in the future, after something terrible has happened It makes sense to tend to see dystopia as a future setting where technology is so good you are forced to wear implants or cybernetic parts. Then there is the anarchists of course and hackers; with a dressing style of 'tech wear' and gothic. What are some other styles? Cyberpunk 2077 even has its own sub styles. Entropism: represents the look of poverty that derives from humans grappling with and struggling against technology and its unforgiving advance. It denotes a lack of design, blending with a general poverty of means and ideas. Kitsch: the look of a long lost golden age on people entirely unwilling or unable to forget it. It’s flashy, bold and usually cheap – filled with gold-plated cyberware, implants encased in brightly colored plastic, and larger-than-life makeup. Neomilitarism: represents the look of global conflict and corporations jockeying for power. Cold, sharp and modern. Making everyone look as if they are ready to drop out of an AV’s cargo door and head straight into combat. Neo-Kitsch: It's the look of infinite wealth and vanity. Synonymous with luxury, it has been blossoming among Night City’s wealthiest elites – those who can afford to buy anything, who can afford to be anything they want to be. https://www.gamesatlas.com/cyberpunk-2077/styles/ What is some other information and styles you know of that involves all the lore of cyberpunk/dystopia?

That's how you create 'scientific martyrs' like Galileo who the Catholic church prosecuted for saying Earth revolves around the sun and not the other way around. Church and state should always be separated, otherwise science gets attacked. Under the trump administration, he banned 7 words from the CDC: diversity, entitlement, evidence-based, fetus, science-based, transgender, and vulnerable. And they also interfered with CDC reports about Covid to disinform the people, and even appointed a goon to put in charge of the CDC who was forced to go on leave of absence for being delusional, inciting violence, and being extremely politically polarized. I don’t understand how you could ask if atheism is right. You categorize atheism as a belief but it’s not an organization. They don’t get tax breaks for being atheist. They don’t knock on your door. They don’t baptize. And they don’t sing choir or hymns from scriptures. Atheism isn’t right or wrong. It's just rational.

Russia Invaded Ukraine
Reality vs Adventure replied to Techno's topic in Debate, Politics, & Religion
How can they do that when social media has been cut off in Russia and reporters and all people are threatened 15 years imprisonment for saying anything 'unapproved?' 13,500 Russian protestors have been arrested since the invasion started and police use excessive force and try to stop freedom of assembly. Police are even stopping people to search their phones for messages and photos. https://www.hrw.org/news/2022/03/09/russia-brutal-arrests-and-torture-ill-treatment-anti-war-protesters https://www.theverge.com/2022/3/4/22961472/russia-fake-news-law-military-ukraine-invasion-casualties-jail-time -
What if China invaded Taiwan?
Reality vs Adventure replied to Jayson's topic in Debate, Politics, & Religion
It’s a domino effect. Rogue nations will help each other and give themselves confidence to invade other countries. Russia has been degraded in credit rating and they want to nationalize foreign businesses. That scares off companies from setting up business in Russia. And the same will happen to China. All those foreign manufacturers will pull out of China. -
What if China invaded Taiwan?
Reality vs Adventure replied to Jayson's topic in Debate, Politics, & Religion
He's American. He's saying that American economy is too dependent on China but he assumes the USA is the only country that put sanctions on Russia. You just claimed the USA is hypocritical in handling China differently for invading Taiwan which hasn't even happened, instead of calling a Chinese invasion a deplorable act. This is another post where you fail to call out an act of tyranny and instead demonize your own country. That is, if you really are American. -
I’ve realized that slowing down boosts immersion a lot.
Reality vs Adventure replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Gaming Forum
Definitely; I like it when games give you a chance to stop and look around and think. And it's not just the view for me, but sometimes I piece things together, make more sense out of things, and even let my imagination wonder. And when you know you are about to kill someone, coming from the shadows, you have analyzed the situation a hundred ways to kill, while they have no clue what's coming; then walk real slow. Taste death coming in the air. See the shadows move. Weapons glisten. Just walk real slow like a bad ass. Throat slice one. Let the next enemy see me. Let them charge after me. And I just walk real slow and take in the moment before my blade is thrusted and hacked and sliced through all his warm meat. Smell the iron of blood splash on me, and walk. Walk on. 🤣 -
What makes for a good new enemy in a game series?
Reality vs Adventure replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Gaming Forum
I like the cyberpunk or dystopian approach to having enemies that overreach their power like evil corporations and private military. Evil scientists always make a good enemy. Since there are a broad range of games, it's hard to say what makes a good enemy. It could be something complicated like Detroit Become Human where you play as an android and human discrimination is the enemy. Or it could be a game where the enemy has been your friend all along creating a huge twist in the story. If it's a monster, they should make it really intelligent like Alien Isolation. -
Since they took Legion to a near future time, it would feel strange to go back to a present time in a new game. So they will probably stick to the cyberpunk type of genre. They can probably take that same formula to another major city, maybe even Hong Kong. That would cause a splash. New York would be classic but I think that city is over used. Don't know. London just seemed like the perfect place for the latest game. It's hard to imagine they will come out with a sequel anytime soon and probably milk the game for online mode like GTA 5 did.

Abortion as Birth Control
Reality vs Adventure replied to Jayson's topic in Debate, Politics, & Religion
There are many people who have to pull the plug from a family member in a medical facility. That is a choice they have to make. Are you against that? Do you feel a family member should have the right or not have the right to make that decision to pull the plug? In Texas, where the most extreme abortion law has been passed where they only have a 6 week period to get an abortion, the state has the Tx Advance Directives Act giving the right for hospitals to pull the plug on patients. They give family members 10 days to move the patient to a different facility before they pull the plug. Isn’t that a bit of hypocrisy? I’ll give you a chance to respond before I start making a whole list of hypocrisies. And every time I read about republican politician calls for violence, I'll post it here under abortions and pro-life. -
Abortion as Birth Control
Reality vs Adventure replied to Jayson's topic in Debate, Politics, & Religion
Republicans want a fetus to live on that could otherwise have serious deformation, health problems, product of rape etc. then drop them like a hot potato claiming they don’t deserve aid for disabilities, health insurance, food, and any aid for the parents. Don’t you think being forced to keep a child would bring more need of government assistance? Which goes against all republican talking points on attacking welfare. The only other option for some parents is to give it up for adoption. Then you need government funding for that. Or the child grows up in foster care and gets abused by parent after parent and gives them all sorts of psychological problems. So it’s hard to take republicans serious on this issue when they believe wearing a mask is a violation of personal rights and then go and ban abortions even for mothers that have health conditions or even rape. And republicans are a party that has spread so many lies and conspiracies, and worships QANON with all their craziness, sorry but republicans have lost credibility in everything. The only policy republicans have is immigration, whitewash schools, abortion, and voting suppression. Republicans don’t even want to have a presidential debate. They are seriously considering opting out of it. And that’s because they have nothing to debate when it comes to actual policy. So these bills republicans are passing is nothing more and nothing less than an attack on democracy. Critical race theory, abortions, and stolen election is all they have. And republicans, including fox news initially supported Russia in it’s attack but realized it’s a losing argument, along with all their conspiracies. But a bunch of republicans still do support Russia. So how do Americans take anything serious from the republican party when they are nothing but a pure disgrace in every way. Republicans think they care about pro-life and abortions when they constantly want to get rid of healthcare and have zero proposals, they want to take away the school lunch program, they separated immigrant children from their parents and locked them away; they even wanted border patrol to shoot migrants and make an alligator moat; they support the mass incarceration of colored people and deny any wrong doing from police shootings; they support the brutalization of protestors. That’s eventually going to be the start of their genocide by kidnapping and killing protestors. That’s exactly what your leaders have full intention of doing. So fuck off with your fake ass pro-life. Republicans have legalized the terrorist act of plowing through crowds in a vehicle. And it wasn’t long ago that your leaders completely neglected to protect the black community from lead in the water in Flint Michigan who have been charged for it. Trump disrespected fallen American soldiers and the republican party as well as fox news all supported it or denied it. They are against any environmental regulations. They incite violence and always support cops killing people. They never want to discuss gun laws after mass shootings and could care less about the loopholes that allow crazies to get tons of weapons. They always call it a good guy with a gun and are so quick tempered to threaten and murder. 3 republicans voted against the the new anti lynching law. Seriously??? They are pro death sentence. They want to eliminate all welfare and some republicans have even attacked social security. They completely botched a pandemic response and did everything they could to politicize a pandemic when thousands of deaths were occurring, all the while refusing to wear a mask and attacking those who do. They failed to use pandemic funds to help hospitals. Instead, lies, lies, lies, and more lies. They purposely fail in natural disaster responses when it’s not a republican state, and even screwed over Puerto Rico in their hurricane funding. They say Myanmar should happen in the USA. They say USA should get liberated like they feel Russia is doing to Ukraine. They openly call for a civil war. They threaten their own co-workers in congress. They have judges in the court system who let murderers run free, and give min sentence for their beloved brethren that commit terrorist attacks. A judge gives a right wing extremist probation who left a bag of bombs at a BLM protest and more explosives were found in his home. They didn’t want to give capital police metals for trying to fight off the Jan 6 attack. Trump says he can kill someone on 5th Ave and not lose votes. Does that sound like a party for pro-life? And it’s not just trump because most of them republicans have agreed to everything he said and did. They sold their souls, at the same time claiming to be christian. They can take their pro-life bullshit to the grave and let the stink rot away their bones. -
“I could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody and I wouldn’t lose any voters,” trump said. Yeah, that sounds like the party of pro-life. That pretty much sums up the republican party. And just a couple days ago trump speaks at a rally telling his supporters to "lay down their lives" to fight against critical race theory. So what does that mean? Does he want his supporters to make terrorist attacks on schools? We all know he incited the capital terrorist attack. And now here he is threatening schools and all the staff by inciting violence. As long as that party has people like that in it, and all the enablers, that party will NEVER be a party of christian values.

Abortion as Birth Control
Reality vs Adventure replied to Jayson's topic in Debate, Politics, & Religion
Religion has such huge hypocrisy when it comes to pro life. The republicans in Idaho passed a bill that allows them to exterminate 90% of the wolf population. That's wolf genocide. They tried that very same thing in Yellowstone decades ago and it ruined the ecosystem there, so they brought the wolf population back. The Idaho governor also passed the Heartbeat bill to ban abortions once it has a heartbeat. So you want to save a fetus and slaughter wolves? What gives him the right to make that decision huh? -
How irresponsible are the US poor?
Reality vs Adventure replied to Jayson's topic in Debate, Politics, & Religion
How irresponsible are the rich? We had a president that is the only one who absolutely refuses to show his taxes; had a fake university he was sued for; went bankrupt multiple times. The rich have a lot of foreign accounts that they hide money and always cheating taxes. Many business owners used bailout money to buy expensive toys they didn't need. Central banks gamble people's money and drives us into recessions. The government prints paper money without having enough precious metals to back it up. Politicians take bribes or lobbying money instead of working for the interests of the people. There are a lot of people born to wealthy families who would naturally be a bum or loser if it weren't for their parents always providing everything they need. They can screw up in life with hardly any consequences and still have a house. In the real world how many of them would wind up in an apartment or trailer instead? The poor is not to blame for America's problems as a powerful country in the world with the highest financial rating. It's the irresponsibility of policy makers always leaving out the important things to better the education system (not whitewash it as what is currently happening to education or take money from public schools to finance private schools as Betsy Devos did in the trump administration); also increase min. wage; and create jobs. People don't want to be poor. Republicans are trying to take away the school lunch program. That has been put into place since WW2 when too many people were being denied into the draft because of poor health from malnutrition. So that program is to help children develop properly. Why take that away from children? Poor people have their problems and some have made bad decisions, but nobody is there to bail them out like we do for all the bad decisions that bankers and corporations make. We go into a recession and guess who gets the damn bonuses from the U.S. government? Fucking CEO's. Where is that damn trickle down? So there is a hell of a lot more freebies going around for the wealthy, it's just spread out to fewer people. -
Sony has suspended the Playstation store in Russia, suspended consoles and all hardware/software, and blocked the launch of Gran Turismo 7 to Russians as well as all shipment of games. They also have donated $2 million to help victims. Microsoft has also halted sales to Russia and since Microsoft is a tech giant, they are helping Ukraine against cyberattacks from Russia. Also, Russians have been blocked from participating in esports. There are also game developers cutting ties with Russia. https://news.yahoo.com/sony-suspends-playstation-store-console-004340947.html https://www.channelfutures.com/security/microsoft-helping-ukraine-government-against-mounting-russia-cyberattacks https://www.thedrive.com/news/44690/sony-refuses-to-launch-gran-turismo-7-in-russia-for-now https://massivelyop.com/2022/03/07/ea-and-microsoft-announce-end-of-sales-to-russia-hi-rez-reroutes-russian-profits-to-ukrainian-aid/

Innovation is going to keep increasing. But Ubisoft and Watch Dogs Legion, I think has become the most innovative game. There are all kinds of gadgets you can control; You can ride a drone all around the city; that's like the eagle in Assassin's Creed on steroids. And cruise control in driving to get you anywhere on the map and you could just sight see. And interacting with anybody you come across and recruit. What other games have better innovation? I will rescind my opinion if there is one.

Should all games be able to play both 3rd and 1st person?
Reality vs Adventure replied to Rain Dew's topic in Gaming Forum
I think games should have that option, but some games as mentioned like Layers of Fear would spoil it in 3rd person. I like what Evil Within 2 did being able to switch between the two. Horror games I think is where breaking immersion can happen in 3rd. But Evil Within 2 has outdoor gameplay as well as indoor. I like to play in 1st person while indoors in horror games. Outside, I need it to be in 3rd so I can see what's going on. Trying to run and shoot when you get scared makes the camera swing around like crazy in 1st person and its hard to aim. Then you run like a crazy person not knowing where to go. In close quarters indoors it's just different. So props to EW2 for recognizing that option. -
I think weapon wheels got a lot better and smoother. More games are taking on save features to save the game any time. There is also the photo mode that is getting better and better. I can't think how story telling has changed. Games still have a mess of pop ups on the screens that are a distraction while trying to listen to what characters say. How can story telling be improved?

I used to recycle when I lived in the city, there was a huge recycling center. I stopped once I moved into the country because there are no recycling areas. I actually called trash companies and they charge you to take your recycling trash.

The Worst Racism I Experienced
Reality vs Adventure replied to Jayson's topic in Debate, Politics, & Religion
The thing about racism is that it's not always blatantly in your face. People seem to think (not referring to you at all, just people in general) they think that racism is only when somebody mouths off or attacks under the category of a hate crime. In the past, that's probably the way it was. But a lot of people that feel oppressed will agree that racism most of the time is very subtle. When you walk into a store and everybody glares at you. You get treated differently. It's those things it's hard to talk about without sounding paranoid. But it's there. And it eats at you every day, breaking down your confidence and giving you anxiety. I'm mixed and some whites see me as white and others think I swam across the border illegally. I live in rural Texas deep in the country and I am surrounded by hate. Sometimes people feel comfortable enough around me to talk their racist bigotry talk. They say things they wouldn't ordinarily say in public. But behind closed doors you get to see how they really feel. My mom's side is bright white; my sister has blonde hair. I grew up with that family in a predominantly white neighborhood and I have endured a lot of racism. Some of my family members have a confederate flag hanging on their wall and all they say is 'N' this and 'N' that. I didn't realize the hate when I was younger and I thought something was wrong with me so I am not that confident in my adult life and I have anxiety issues. But I finally learned that it was a racist atmosphere. And when I had a girlfriend from Mexico, it was then we both were able to share our feelings about our racist experiences w/o seeming paranoid. My own mother was always in denial of racism and never even wanted to listen to me. Her excuse was to stand up straight and dress nice. She realizes now though everything I said in the past is true and her denial has broken because of 4 years under trump and the way the republican party has turned into an extremist far right borderline terrorist party. She was republican her whole life until Obama. And after trump she won't ever vote republican again. My sister though mingles with the republicans. She is the typical Karen. She denies racism, but will call the cops on a black person and act hysterical. She doesn't get involved in politics and doesn't know liberal from conservative or what anything is. She probably doesn't even know who George Washington is. And it's ignorant people like that the republicans like to recruit. So these are some things that I had to get off my chest in my own personal experiences about racism. It's hard to talk about many times, it's hard to pin point, but it is highly prevalent. -
I read that bill Senate Bill 669 in Maryland. First off, this would be better discussed in the abortion topic so it doesn't derail this education topic. But I've read the republican talking points and they are throwing accusations out there with no substance. The bill will protect the mother from failure to act in perinatal death which includes the 7 day period after birth of a fetus that survived an abortion. You guys are trying to make it sound like 'parents are killing babies!' You guys don't give a shit about pro life, not when the fascists you support are prone to racially motivated genocide and are anti civil liberties.
