I only forget I need to piss when I’m working. When I’m gaming, I think I get up every 30 minutes to an hour or so and use the bathroom, grab food or drink, go tell someone excitedly what is happening in the game whether they care or not, or just make sure my back and neck aren’t getting angry from sitting in one position for too long.

In the Dragon Age games, there is some kind of running joke involving cheese—huge cheese wheels in conspicuous locations, weird cheese references (someone saying that a cheese “tastes of despair” or something like that at a party), and at one point, a functional shield which is quite literally a block of cheese. I have no idea what the origin of these cheese jokes is.

I think that you are right about that; trying to make predictions right now is probably a waste of time, and it is best to just save up as much as we can and hope for the best. Good point—I am sure not looking forward to my console taking months to ship to me, but there is a chance we could see huge delays.

I like RPGs for their immersiveness and also how relaxing they can be. Almost everything else I play is one sort of shooter or another.

How does it compare to Dragon Age in terms of the characters and the dialogue writing and acting quality? I feel like those are Dragon Age’s strong suit, but I’ve yet to find another game which can compete in that regard (even Mass Effect, thus far, which is similar, but its characters don’t seem nearly as nuanced to me yet).

I’ve never gotten into board games much, but in a similar way I suppose, I enjoy card and dice games. How does chess improve our relationships with each other?

Oh man, I hate things like that. Worse, I often get stupidly excited when I get a rare weapon like that, and performance anxiety leads me to be more likely to die. Lol, I have been having a similar problem the entire time I have been playing Spec Ops: The Line where I am always blowing myself up with my own grenades.

Good point about checking right away to see if it is a known issue. Alas, I often just end up getting angrier at that point, as the solution usually involves a console command and I’m on a PS3 =D

What video game character’s abilities would you want IRL?

What a fabulous and thoughtful answer. Now that you mention it, I might take that over the multiverse ability, but it would be a tough call. -
Worst trope/underutilized mechanic in fighting games

I totally agree with you. Moreover, I find it funny how often video game characters completely lose contact with the ground, yet this is consequence-free, whereas in real life, it would be exploited in a martial situation. -
I love how many answers this thread has gotten. I’ve heard so many good things about Stardew, I may have to check it out.

My least favorite game is probably Tetris. I know it’s a classic and I do kind of get its appeal, but I always found it tedious and dull.

None of this would stop me from walking into my local video store. But then again, my local video store is small, uncrowded, and cheap.

Games that make statements about free choice or free will

I'm on my first playthrough of the original RDR. The ones that really suffer are the ones that try to steal my horse. They get dumped on train tracks, etc =D -
Games that make statements about free choice or free will
StaceyPowers posted a topic in Video Games
I’m about halfway through my first playthrough of Spec Ops: The Line, and the game has done multiple interesting things regarding issues of free choice so far—and you likely know that I am also a big fan of the BioShock series for also touching on issues of free choice and free will. Can anyone else recommend additional games which get into matters involving free will, free choice, or both? -
I am intrigued by Maneater, an open world game in which you play a shark. Has anyone played this game yet, and if so, what did you think of it?

Did anyone else catch TLOU Part 2 State of Play Presentation and want to share their thoughts? I was stoked to learn more about the environments and combat/getting around, and definitely think this game is going to be more challenging than the original.

I’ve now been playing ES Oblivion for a while, and am up to level 18 on my first playthrough, so I thought I’d give some of my thoughts. I’d say the steep learning curve and a few annoyances relative to Skyrim make it harder to get into the game, but after you level up a bit, get the Nocturnal lockpick, and start improving your charm abilities, it plays a lot more smoothly.

I notice it often takes some injustice or loss in a video game before I get emotionally invested—like anger at losing a party member permanently (i.e. as happens partway through Mass Effect) or anger at a broader injustice in the world (i.e. discovering the social ills of Markarth and the Reach in Skyrim). If this is the case for you, what events in games have made you angry, increasing your emotional investment in a game?
